You’ll probably often hear MX compared to Motorstorm, with both offering a similarly comprehensive vehicle set and both flinging mud about the place like a pig in the poo pond. But where Motorstorm is among the most beautiful racers ever made, MX is as plain as a bowling shoe and - inexplicably - has unrefined controls that don’t hold a candle to its slightly better-looking versions on PS3 and 360.
While it’s true the game is throwing around impressive physics and incidental effects, it’s ugly with strangely washed-out contrast ratios, making the dark-brown mud tracks’ terrain features difficult to decipher. And that’s a pretty big issue, considering how much the bumps in the tracks matter to your speed.
