Why are Sonic fans so angry? Maybe the Werehog from Sonic Unleashed rubbed them the wrong way. Or maybe, it’s just been frustrating to see Sega so busy reinventing ways to make their mascot go faster while leaving the pure Sonic experience from the originals in the dust.



Sega is hoping scratch that retro itch for a classic Sonic experience with the upcoming release of Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I for XBLA, PSN, WiiWare, and iPhone. They’ve delayed the production of Sonic 4 to fine tune the game based on feedback from the community. So we caught up with Ken from Sega Digital at Sega’s E3 booth to talk about what Sonic fans can expect from his brand new oldschool adventure…

    Chaos Emeralds are such an anti-climax when you find and collect them - I don't know why that is...

    I'm looking forward to this one, personally. I know, I know...Sonic games have been like something aborted out of Tony Danza's nether region lately. This time looks like an honest attempt to capture what made 1-3 so special. Even if this isn't the opus magnum that fans are crying for, it's really great to know that us old gamers aren't forgotten with new side scrollers already released, and being developed in the current generation.

    Don't get me wrong. I really do hope this game turns out to be good but aside from sonic adventure 2 the last good sonic game I played was sonic 3.

    @Redeater One of the previews of the Wii version by Official Nintendo Magazine clearly stated, about the Special Stages, "This is the only time you’ll be tilting the Remote in the game, and it works". Therefore, we can assume that the Wii version no longer has the minecart stage (which was motion-based), and if the Wii version is essentially identical to the XBLA/PSN one then they won't have it too. However, the iPhone version is now touting '2 exclusive levels that take advantage of the phone’s touch and tilt capabilities'. It's a safe bet that this is where the work they already did on the minecart stage(s) is going to end up!
