12 brand new things we discovered in Assassin’s Creed: Origins - cat lovers, look away now...

Assassin’s Creed Origins has all the usual hooded fare we’re accustomed to: a heavy tendency to stab anyone we don’t like, a penchant for climbing up walls when anyone normal would just use them for a bit of shelter, and - of course - a fondness for protecting the downtrodden. Yet along with bequeathing us a new hero in Bayek, Origins introduces a ton of new mechanics for us stabbalicious players to take advantage of.

If you’ve long dreamt of being a part of animal control, the good news is that Origins is the game for you. Mind you, that’s bad news for anyone who has a sincere love for kitties. You’ll have to watch the video to find out what we mean by that, but there’s plenty of other goodies stuffed in there - new enemies, new ways to climb, and much, much more. One rumour in particular that we heard at Gamescom has made its way onto the list, which might remind you of a previous Assassin’s game...

There’s one small detail that makes one hell of a difference. No loading screens. What that means is that you’re able to enjoy an uninterrupted virtual trip into the past (insert happy sigh here). Take advantage of this by diving into the ocean to explore the depths, then haul yourself back onto the docks to fight some soldiers without missing a beat. You may want to do this every so often as Bayek is inevitably going to need to clean off all the sweat that inevitably comes from assassination, solving ancient mysteries, raiding tombs, and using some sweet execution moves. Bear that in mind when Origins comes out on October 27, and get ready to get your assassin on.
