The face of BioShock Infinite's hero revealed

In the original BioShock, the unknown nature of the main character is part of his appeal, and that mystique includes the fact that you never saw his face. We were just as in the dark about the appearance of BioShock Infinite’s main character Booker DeWitt, a former Pinkerton agent escorting the strangely powerful Elizabeth through the war-torn floating city of Columbia. Now, thanks to the cover of the most recent issue of EGM, we now have a face to match the name.

The digital version of EGM scored the reveal (not that we’re jealous or anything) as part of their recent preview. Booker looks about how we'd imagined, a mix of grizzled and dashing in a 1910s kind of way. The cover was created by Irrational’s internal art team and shows the dapper Booker defending Elizabeth from some off-screen threat that’s shining a light on them. By the way, any comic book fans recognize the reference this cover makes?

That’s right, as BioShock creator Ken Levine confirmed on Twitter it’s an homage to Uncanny X-Men #141, the first part of the classic storyline Days of Future Past. Of course, Infinite takes place in a dystopian past, while the X-Men story takes place in a dystopian future, but if this cover was meant to subliminally associate BioShock Infinite with the bad-ass-osity of an aging Wolverine, then it did its job.

Oh and another thing, @Gameguy94: YES, THANK-YOU!! I'm probally gonna watch the gameplay at least 20 more times before the release (at least, a VERY rough estimate). Now I just need to get my system fixed.

@ TehWise and Duffman: I must agree, she seems to have a certain elegance that can't be describe with words(or text). Also thought I'd like to mention that I loved how you never did get to see the character from Bioshock, added to the whole, make your own history thing. My favorite part (the only part you could ever really see anyway, except for in the "Would you kindly" room anyway) was the tattoos on his arms. Reminds me of how much of a prisoner he really is. Another thing, @kierco2002: Was it the trailer that was on the game itself? If not do you know where to find it?

Just what I was hoping for. A good mix of grizzled and handsome. There are just too many bald, grizzled, gorillas in modern gaming.

I hope they're giving George Clooney a chunk of change for his likeness.

I love the 'Stay behind me, foolish woman!' pose.

Booker and Elizabeth look awesome. Now, I don't wanna troll X-Men fans but seriously, that artist could use a few pointers on how to draw a woman's face.
