I was thinking of buying this game in the last hour it was open. I decided not to because I felt like it would be a game sort of like Limbo and Braid and personally I'm not a fan of those games.

You should have counterd with.. Ok, ill send 10 dollars to the starving children in africa, and 10 dollars to "buy" my game. (that is what the 10 dollar donation is, it is basically a pre-order) that said, you should get your mom to actually watch the video before she passes judgement. Cause what he is doing is hardly lazy, and in fact rather cutting edge, and a way to balk the typical caplitalist ideals. Though it might get yas smacked, next time you see your mother wasting money or buying something completely useless, you should use that starving children arugement. Perhaps it may make her think twice about that old standby that gets used when they have nothing better to say.

I would donate, but my mom just called Tim lazy and said no, using the classic "Starving children in Africa" argument. I swear, she hates when I'm being selfless by wanting to get rid of Quiverfull (A nutso Xtian fundie movement), even if those nutbars may come to our house and kill us (even though we live nowhere near the bible belt, chalk that up to her being less intelligent than a COD fanboy), but she doesn't like me being more selfish, either.

Being only a sophomore, I haven't played Psychonauts, can someone give me an unbiased opinion ;) on it? Because to me it seems like the game that all the gaming magazines and sites constantly lush and gush about only because it's expected of them, talking and complaining about its deserved sequel a lot more than others, like maybe Battlefront III, or Republic Commando II (lol can't think of any not starwars-related). Basically what i'm saying is to me it seems like some trendy hipster game whose players worship it like, well, hipsters would. I'm sure it's not, but it sure sounds like it is. Lol have been thinking this for like 4 years, any input would be appreciated thanks

Honestly, the game has huge flaws. The art style is weird, and maybe ugly for some. The fighting can be awkward. The platforming can be awkward. But all in all, the game is great in that it has hilarious characters, hilarious situations, and hilarious dialog. Levels are well made, everything is well thought out, and simply, this kind of thought doesn't go into a game. tl;dr it's $10 on steam, just go play it.

I would say that it is one of those games that everyone goes on about because it's expected from them, but it completely deserves it. The main draw is of course the great characters and story, but it also has some of the best 3D platforming of recent times. Like Flnsomniac said, it's pretty cheap on steam, so there's nothing stopping you from giving it a shot.

Wasn't Homefront also THQ's highest grossing game to date? Not sure that's the best example. As long as people keep buying up those multi-million dollar shooters and making companies multi-billions in profit the industry won't be shifting much. But really I'm all for anything that gets more people making more varied games.

"Would funding multiple smaller, more audience-specific, enthusiast-directed games be a safer financial model than putting all of my eggs in one generic, faceless, triple-A megaton basket, sending it out against Call of Duty and hoping for the best?” YES! I want oddball games like From Dust and Stacking. My girlfriend can't stop playing Plants Vs Zombies. Make these games and we will buy them!

When it comes to adventure games I have never been one to play them much. I did, however, support Tim and Double fine with my own hard earned cash because of the idea. While I have no problems with the article, I remain hopeful and would like to see this as a catalyst for bigger changes in the industry.
