Knuckles looks unsettlingly top heavy now, but other than that, I like the new designs. Just please let this Year of Sonic be more 2010, and less 2006.
  • BladedFalcon - February 6, 2014 1:34 p.m.

Oh hew, another new Sonic game. LET THE SONIC CYCLE BEGIN Go on Sonic fanboys, hype the shit out of this one so you can be all the more crushed when it inevitably ends up sucking :P
  • shawksta - February 6, 2014 1:38 p.m.

Knowing we'll be disappointed we have a right to be hyped, cue imitation "ITS THE SONIC WEVE BEEN WAITING FOR, NO REALLY" like David and Alien. Also interesting how its not the Sonic Team handling the game, ,let alone TheBigRedButton, might make a big difference but probably not.

    - one episode of the show has Sonic firing Tails from his sidekick position -after losing again to Sonic, he fakes an injury and takes Sonic to court. - game overall is similar in structure to Sonic Adventure - The new Sonic won't replace modern Sonic - Ex employees of Naughty Dog are making this game - Sonic Team is not working in this game - Cry Engine 3 - Maybe it'll have Crash Bandicoot gameplay - Profit? Also I'm not a fan.

Should've made this joke earlier but *ahem* "The only cycle I can see right now is the one for the steroids Knuckles is taking." BOOM!
  • g1rldraco7 - February 6, 2014 1:25 p.m.

The character redesigns are cool, but will their be a four player game? Looks like it and I will keep watch on it.
  • slimjim441 - February 6, 2014 1:22 p.m.

    Skeptical... but curious.
  • shawksta - February 6, 2014 1:06 p.m.

Well......its just.........those bandages...... A F*ck it. Im Hyped, delusional or not, im f*cking hyped. Game looks okay, could use some work but those lightning effects are really good, and Ex-Naughty dog devs? That explains the almost uncharted character designs and frankly Knuckles reminds me of Crash Bandicoot and Hello Ex-Naughty Dog devs it figures. Maybe being with another dev can finally kill the streak of awfulness Sonic has been in. Im digging the new character designs but goddamn Knuckles needs to do some Leg day.

Have you watched the cartoon clip:

    Bandages, needless bandages everywhere AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
  • BladedFalcon - February 6, 2014 1:38 p.m.

You ARE delusional mate, it's okay to admit it though... Actually, that's the first step to recovery. Though it seems you are already too far gone this time again :P Maybe when this one comes out and sucks I can try getting you into Sonic Anonymous for real? :P
  • shawksta - February 6, 2014 1:47 p.m.

I only became this deep in dilusion because of the Gameplay trailer. It has playable knuckles and any game that has a playable Knuckles is an A-list must have for me. I love the guy, even 06's most horrible Knuckles Section I liked.
  • Jackonomics2.0 - February 6, 2014 2:20 p.m.

The word dilusional is used as an insult, except your admitting and know your dilusional on a game you know is gonna suck. Pretty ballsy.
  • codystovall - February 6, 2014 1:05 p.m.

Hey everyone loves the little stubby original sonic of generations, should we use him more? No, screw that lets make him even taller. But? And put a scarf on him.
  • shawksta - February 6, 2014 1:15 p.m.

I just realized that his scarf looks really similar to Nathan Drakes and given its made by Ex Naughty Dog devs, those clever bastards.
  • Talvari - February 6, 2014 12:58 p.m.

Love the new designs, not quite set on how I feel about Knuckles yet though.

Aside from reeking of 'designed by committee so that tweens/early-teens [the 10-14 crowd] will all find somebody to identify with' aesthetic...the jock, the nerd, the cool kid, and the tramp...I'm not sure what to think of this above and beyond the obvious: just how many hours did they have to spend on a torture rack to stretch their limbs to be that long? I kid, I kid. The game itself I'll reserve judgement for until I see the execution. It's obviously inspired by NSMB, which is far from the worst thing to be taking inspiration from...but it's going to come down to the execution. I am happy to see that somebody finally put a stop to "We heard you fans loud and clear! We're giving you exactly what you asked for! Introducing 'X the Y: 10 times as annoying as V the W!'" crap, but I don't know if 'old fart in suit trying to tell kids what kids like' approach is going to work any better. But then again, that defines the entire Sonic franchise as far back as Sonic Adventure 2: trying way too hard, grossly overcomplicating a simple formula: tight controls, blistering speed, branching platforming, run and jump and smack a hilariously contrived contraption until it breaks, repeat until put in a situation of running and jumping and smacking a hilariously contrived contraption until it breaks...with no margin for error, roll end credits. The It's going to come down to the writing. If it's more Looney Tunes Show than Loonatics [both of which tried to make 'something more' of familiar characters], it could work.

"Co-op with 2-4 people" "NSMB" Stop
