NiGHTS into Dreams HD: Watch us get straight Grade 'A's in Spring Valley

NiGHTS into Dreams is one of my personal favourite games of all time. So, after having Game Gear Sonic 1 torn to shreds by Dave Houghton, I thought I’d try to show our UK Editor Matt Cundy how to get an A-grade on the initially overwhelming NiGHTS into Dreams HD. Can Matt make it through the game without making inappropriate film references or mistaken assertions about NiGHTS' profession? Of course not.

If you liked this, then you might also like our Blindfold Hitman Sniper Challenge or Blindfold Tekken Tag Tournament 2. You can also hear more advanced discussion of the controls on Wednesday in the last ever (in its current format) GRUK Podcast.

The official GamesRadar review of NiGHTS HD will go live later today, while the game itself is due for UK release tomorrow on PSN for £6.49/$9.99 and Thursday on XBLA for 800 MS Points.

No shit! I just saw your name on the leaderboards! That was right before I came to this article, though. Your name is on every stage, lol. I don't know how you guys get so many points but it's mind-blowing to say the least.

I've never played this, as a consequence I have no idea what was going on during this video... Though it appears Justin did well. Go Justin!

Nice vid. I kind of want to get this one.

The control thing is a deal-breaker. I was stuck playing with the digital pad on Saturn, and later had to battle with the weird eight-sided Gamecube stick-hole for the Wii sequel... And now the controls are borked again! AAARGH! Tooth-grindingly annoying.

It's not uncontrollable (though it's initially very different) and I got over 500,000 on Spring Valley again after some practice, so it's possible to play as precisely as the Saturn one. Sometimes, it even helps to have that 'perfectly right' precision, especially for the long gaps in bits like Elliot's Christmas Dream where you need to fly at an absolutely perfect 90 degrees to cover the distance in one second. The deadzone isn't a deal-breaker, but I can't understand why it's in there.

The guy on the left is really quite annoying.

Got a Justin Towell playlist on my phone now! Quality stuff man!

Oh, wow - that's great :P Thanks very much!
