ModNation Racers: Creation masterclass

Character creator

Above:Wewere tempted to just stick with this sleek design

Step 1: You're given a template like this to work on. It's all pretty simple to get going and there arethousands of combinations to create

Above:Tiger stripes.Grrrrrowwwwlll etc...
Step 2: Like LBP you can choose a skin and an abundance of eyes, noses and mouths to stick on your driver

Above: A toucan/tiger hybrid. Imagine the mess while mating those two

Step 3: There are loads of accessories you can plant on your character from beard styles to animal beaks

Above: The finished product. He looks rightly furious
Step 4:We're done. After matching the rabbit ears with the tiger stripes our freakish mammal is ready to go driving. And be laughed at

Pimp your ride

Above:The frame of your winning (or losing)chariot

Step 1: You're give the frame for which to cobble together your unique kart. You can hit Triangle and get a random selection if you like

Above: Battery-power over petrol because we're environmentally friendly

Step 2: You can choose a number of things for your vehicle including what type of engine it has. Each one sounds like it should so the battery has a RC car sound

Above: Meat paint job with a biohazard symbol? Yeah, why not

Step 3: There are tons of stickers and paint job combos to choose from. You can fully edit all decals too so you can create something completely unique

Above: A satellite dish to complete that uglycar look
Step 4: Once the base is to your liking you can then add cosmetic trimmings to your vehicle. This garish satellite dish is one of many oddities you can put on it

Making a track

Above: Making roads - ModNation Racers style

Step 1: You're given this part cement mixer, part combine harvester to bomb around in, which also lays the track as you drive

Above: Digging deep to create a spectacular route
Step 2: You can change the elevation of the track laying machine by pressing up and down on the right stick as demonstrated here

Above: An easy option to create something beautiful
Step 3: Once you've tied the track together you're giventhe option to populate thewhole thing. For a speedy way to create an environment hit 'yes'

Above: Your two minute metropolis is complete

Step 4: Voila! Your track is now complete and thankfully has all the ramps, turbo strips and weapons already thrown in

Putting it all together

Above: Our car, character and track in perfect harmony. Weeeeeeee!
