Is this Uncharted 3 running in split-screen?

Better take off that fez, stetson or whatever cranial attire you're wearing and put on your detective hat instead. Something is afoot and it's not just the end of your leg. One eagle-eyed YouTube user has been scouring video released some time ago by Naughty Dog and noticed one brief clip that looked odd. In fact, it appears to show Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception running in split-screen mode. Could it be true? Take a look and tell us what you make of it...

Here's the clip in question, slowed down to give you more time to think:

And here's the original, straight from Naughty Dog's YouTube channel (skip to around 1:34):

To our eyes, it does look like split-screen. It's even staggered slightly to give each player a more normally-proportioned window (and no doubt to save some processor work too). However, it's far more likely that this is split-screen multiplayer rather than split-screen story mode. For starters, Naughty Dog has already stated that it's not likely to put co-op in the game as it's not the sort of story they want to tell.

It's certainly true that some parts of the Uncharted experience are clearly meant to be played as one solitary figure. Being stranded in the desert wouldn't be half as harrowing if you had Sully with you. Did you ever hear about that little bartender in Lima…?

"Better take off that fez, stetson or whatever cranial attire you're wearing and put on your detective hat instead." Please tell me thats a Doctor Who reference, or am I just seeing things. I really want more Doctor Who! Split Screen Uncharted 3 is good too since my friends are cheap and refused to buy there own copies of Uncharted 2.

notice they tried to cover up the fact by putting a white piece of paper in the top left of the first players screen. probably to cover up something to the effect it was in split screen.

That is definitely split-screen. Uncharted has the ammo counter on the top left, if I remember correctly. So putting it on the top right of the 2nd player's screen makes sense, and that's what it looks like there. Now whether or not that is MP or single-player, I have no idea. But split-screen regardless!

    Yep MP split probably. DAMNIT.

    JPR2010 is right. Dammit....

Don't get your hopes up people. It could also be an image running in an SDK where there's multiple windows open on the screen.

Doesn't look like story mode, which is good. Having a real person control Sully or any other main character would be just awful. Would love some split-screen in the story-esque co-op missions though (if they make a return).

It was 3 player multiplayer, why would the ammo counter be in the middle? The bottom was split in the middle with 2 players.

Its multiplayer split screen, check the red and green numbers at the top of the screen in the first few seconds :( :( Im going to find a duvet and cry my dashed hopes away ...

That is definitely split screen. FUCK YEAH!

Lets hope for an official announcement then, if it has: Uncharted won't just be "game of the year", it would be "game of all time"

I do believe that is split screen.....sweeeeeeeeet!!!!!!!

Any sort of co-op campaign is good in my eyes. I would probably prefer online co-op though... Also, "Something is afoot and it's not just the end of your leg." Ha!

Split-screen would be brilliant. I wanted to play Uncharted 2 with my brother but I'm not willing to buy another PS3 just to play that one game.
