We've said some harsh words about Butterfree's longevity, but you can't deny its usefulness early in the game. As a fast-evolving Pokemon, you can get access to some reliable moves by pushing Metapod to level 10 - Stun Spore and Sleep Powder, for example, are quite handy in the initial outset. Heck, they're useful pretty much up until the end of the game, though by that point you'll have better, more varied Pokemon to consider. Still, as a Pokemon who learns moves from six different types, Butterfree has its moments.

Evolution: From Metapod at 10
