Djimon Hounsou joining Guy Ritchies Knights Of The Roundtable

Guy Ritchie’s Camelot saga, Knights Of The Roundtable, has stepped things up on the casting front, with Djimon Hounsou set to follow recent addition Jude Law in joining the project.

According to Variety, Hounsou will play a “Merlin-esque figure” in the forthcoming film, a role that had initially been earmarked for Idris Elba.

Provided negotiations go smoothly, Hounsou will star opposite Charlie Hunnam’s King Arthur and Astrid Berges-Frisbey’s Guinevere, with Law set to play the villain of the piece.

Should the first film prove a success at the box office, Warner’s plan is to expand the story into a six-episode franchise, with Ritchie thought to be in it for the long haul.

With Ritchie in the director’s chair and a script from Joby Harrold, Knights Of The Roundtable is slated to open in the UK and US on 22 July 2016.
