Asura’s Wrath comes out February 21 and continues to be insane

Not too many games include extended fights using only kicks and copious head-butts, nor do they involve punching blood-red gorillas. Asura’s Wrath breaks all those rules as one of the angriest, most nonsensically violent games to date. Now we finally know when consumers will get a chance to buy the nutty game (February 21), and we have a few new  trailers that supply some unnecessary backstory in addition to more crazy brutality.

As you can see from the above story trailer, Asura’s tale seems to be similar to many classic revenge narratives like Gladiator and Lone Wolf and Cub, though those plots don’t feature a man screaming for vengeance as he burns up reentering Earth’s atmosphere. Once you get the story out of the way, it’s time for more action starting with Asura kicking ass using only his legs:

Which is followed by an old fashioned monkey beat down that ends logically enough with punching a giant turtle:

If any of the action in Capcom and CyberConnect 2’s wild game enticed you, you’ll be happy to know it’ll be out sooner than expected. It’s coming out February 21 next year in the US and three days later on the 24th in Europe.

Just so people know, and before everyone starts judging too harshly, the Quick Time Events in this game won't ruin anything if you don't get them right. They're basically there as a device to rank your progress in each chapter. If you fail a QTE, Asura will still punch that turtle or whatever, you will just receive a lesser score for not doing it right.

This looks like God of War's insane Japanese brother. I am so in.

Saw a preview of this over the weekend in london. The game looks great, but seems full of QTE's (Despite the capcom rep claiming there would be hardly any compared to what we were seeing) Still, looks pretty fun and over the top. Its like capcom have tried to make something very close to an anime in the way it all plays out
