The Dark Knight Rises will not be shot completely in IMAX

There has been much speculation about whether Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight follow-up will be shot entirely on IMAX cameras.

It seems that cinematographer Wally Pfister, Nolan's longtime collaborator, has finally put an end to the whispers with a definitive statement during an Inception Q&A session.

The Wrap is reporting that "they won't shoot the entire film in IMAX, [Pfister] said, citing cost and the inability to capture sound as just two of the impediments."

The Wrap go on to state that Pfister isn't actually officially signed up to lens the next Batman movie, but we'd be extremely shocked (and disappointed) if Nolan opted to hire a different cinematographer.

Thankfully, Pfister still claims that they will shoot select sequences of the movie using IMAX cameras, which is great news for anyone who was lucky enough to catch TDK in IMAX.

The action scenes which were shot on the supersized cameras were unbelievable in terms of scale and spectacle, and it's not suprising that Nolan is returning to IMAX instead of switching to 3D.
