Girls’ Frontline 2: Exilium launched on December 3, sending players into a future set 10 years after the events of the first game, in order to experience a fresh chapter of the Girls’ Frontline story in a standalone sequel. Once again players will take on the role of Commander, assembling and leading a squad of T-Dolls to victory through a series of turn-based battles that also feature RPG elements.
Girls’ Frontline 2: Exilium is free-to-play and available right now on PC and mobile, with cross-platform support so you can continue your progress whether at home or out and about. This was a highly anticipated release, with over 5 million players pre-registering in advance, unlocking milestone rewards that everyone can collect when they start playing.
For the uninitiated, Girls’ Frontline 2: Exilium takes place in a futuristic post-apocalyptic setting where battles rage through contaminated zones, and the bulk of the fighting is carried out by T-Dolls – android Tactical Dolls that are anime-styled personifications of iconic real-world weapons, with each having their own combat roles and unique skills to bring to the squad.
When not on a mission, more of the RPG elements come into play as Commanders can relax with their T-Dolls in the Refitting Room and Dormitory, to play minigames, change their combat suits, manage loadouts, and more. By getting to know your T-Dolls better and exploring the world around them, you'll start to realise that things are not as they seem and there's a growing conspiracy to uncover the truth behind.
The game has a visually striking art style that will appeal to those who enjoy anime, using a technique called Non-Photorealistic Rendering that allows every T-Doll and weapon to be fully interactable and viewed in 3D. Built on Physically Based Rending, this technology allows intricate details to be rendered incredibly accurately, from the shine on weapons to the textures on the T-Doll's uniforms.
The characters are also brought to life by stellar voice-acting delivered by some of the best voice-actors in anime, including Marina Inoue (Attack on Titan, My Hero Academia) and Naomi Ōzora (Valkyria Chronicles, Shin Megami Tensei), enhancing their personalities as you interact with them.
Girls’ Frontline 2: Exilium is out now, and you can download it from the App Store, Google Play, and on PC, with a Steam version arriving in the near future.
