Project Motor Racing overhauls "every layer" of the sim with massive Update 2.0 ahead of Japan-themed DLC
Racing sim Project Motor Racing has just launched a massive 2.0 update that aims to establish a new foundation for the game and promises to make major improvements to every aspect of the experience, all ahead of the first official DLC pack dropping next week.
Project Motor Racing 2.0 is the sim's biggest update so far, after a host of smaller patches that developer Straight4 Studios has been working on since launching the game in November 2025. Update 2.0 touches on every layer of the experience, from online play to UI, and has been developed around community feedback.
A fully-redesigned UI means that navigating around the game will be clearer throughout in-game race weekends. Car selection, vehicle setup, and force feedback adjustments have all been improved, with new contextual tooltips to help guide players. In fact, the entire game should look better, with improvements to visuals, performance, and technical stability. Races should be smoother, and enhanced graphics will ensure your rides always look their best.
Both Career Mode and Online Racing have been improved; the former offers clearer progression, with better event presentation and race messaging. As for online racing, systems have been upgraded across the board. That means things like improved anti-cheat, and a License Points system that's been designed to encourage cleaner racing and hopefully reduce the amount of paint being traded. And as of April 1, all car classes will be available in Ranked racing.
Perhaps most important, however, are the improvements to driving physics. Update 2.0 touches on handling, tyre behavior, and electronic driver aids. That means that across multiple car classes, you'll experience better braking stability, better grip, and clearer feedback from your car whether you're using a controller or a steering wheel.
And to add to Update 2.0, Project Motor Racing is bringing even more. In addition to all those improvements, its first DLC is set to release on March 31 (just in time for those Ranked races). The Japanese GT500 Pack introduces a new Japanese circuit, four iconic JGTC-era cars, and will make Project Motor Racing the first sim to feature five modern SUPER GT GT500 machines.
If you've already purchased Project Motor Racing, both Update 2.0, and the recently released Ford Falcon V8 2013 DLC will be available for free. And if you've been patiently waiting for this overhaul, you'll get access to both when you purchase the game. The Japanese GT500 Pack will be available to purchase on March 31. Project Motor Racing and Update 2.0 are out now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
