If you're a fan of post-apocalyptic train heists, crafting, and PVP, Enginefall is the game for you, and there's an open playtest coming up in April
Enginefall is targeting a 2026 launch, and you can participate in a playtest this April
Enginefall showed off more of its survival and extraction shooter-like mechanics in a new trailer for FGS Live From GDC (which followed the Future Games Show Spring Showcase), and there's an upcoming open playtest which runs from April 7 to 14.
In Red Rover Interactive's debut game, you and your friends play as scavengers in a post-apocalyptic world where resources and valuables are ferried around by massive megatrains ripe for raiding. You'll start by boarding the rear car of one of these megatrains and must plunder whatever you can to craft items that improve your loadout and construct makeshift bases that you can respawn at.
When you're ready, you can move into the next carriage to face even greater challenges and potentially get even better loot, and so on until you reach the posh first-class cars and eventually the train's conductor. When it's time to leave, you can hop onto your Dagger shuttle, a little train that can be upgraded to include multiple carriages with workshops and all sorts of defenses.
And you'll need to keep your own train well-defended as Enginefall is built with cutthroat PVP in mind. Whenever you're on a megatrain, other teams may raid it too, so you'll have to race to grab the valuables or fight back to protect your hoard. Of course, you can also co-operate and split your winnings too.
There's no exact release date for Enginefall outside of a 2026 target, so if you want to hear any news as soon as possible, be sure to follow the game here and get it on your Steam Wishlist!
