Verso actor Ben Starr says he's never romanced Shadowheart in Baldur's Gate 3 as it would be a bit weird for him after acting alongside Jennifer English in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
At a panel at Emerald City Comic Con 2026, a fan asked the panel of Starr, English, and Aliona Baranova (who performed motion capture on Baldur's Gate 3) asked the trio if they each tend to play the games starring their co-stars, and capped it off with a question to Starr "have you ever romanced Shadowheart in Baldur's Gate." Starr quickly shot it down with an "I haven't" to which English responded with a somewhat offended "why not!"
Starr explained "If I'm going to be honest, I always see myself as a bit of a Gale girly," which led to English accusing him "Is that because you're a bit of a Gale and you just really love yourself?" However, Starr says it's all down to Gale actor Tim Downie, which in turn leads to him and English swooning over the actor.

After a prerequisite amount of love for Downie, Starr gets back to the question, explaining "no, I haven't romanced you, but I think that that would be weird. It would be so weird." To which English agrees "that would be so weird now, that would be incestuous." Of course, this comes down to the roles Starr and English play opposite each other in Expedition 33, which I won't spoil for you, but they definitely take on a sibling-like role for a majority of the runtime.
Getting back to the original point, Starr adds, "We do, I think there is not just a great love between all of us as people. I think there's a huge respect for the work that we do and I think as actors we wouldn't be doing our due diligence if we weren't playing the games that are out there that you guys are playing."
Personally, I was also a bit of a Gale girly, but he gave me the ick after a moment in act 2 where we had to kill a boy's ghost parents and ghost dog, and in the sombre moments that followed the guy immediately tried to initiate something. And while I let him eat my magic shoes every so often (or whatever he does with them) the relationship was ruined.
