Actor-turned-director Guillaume Canet confidently transposes Harlan Coben’s crime novel from New Jersey to contemporary Paris. Eight years after the murder of his wife Margot (Marie-Josee Croze), paediatrician Alex Beck (Francois Cluzet) becomes prime suspect when two more bodies are found at the original crime scene. Meanwhile, Beck receives video evidence that suggests Margot is still alive... Chopping back and forth in time, it’s dynamically shot but overreaches with a flurry of dramatic revelations. But Canet has rounded up a real ‘Who’s Who’ of French acting talent, including Nathalie Baye’s lawyer, Jean Rochefort’s senator and Andre Dussollier’s ex-cop.
