    True, but at least in the case of Xbox Live (I can't speak for PSN), there's no excuse for it. Matchmaking is built into the Live architecture, and any program with fault tolerance would do little more than say 'that sucks' and keep going if proprietary stats servers or what have you stopped working. I'll doublecheck when I get home, but the last time I tried to play PGR3...*after* Bizarre's demise...the matchmaking still worked. The tournaments [proprietary server] didn't, mind, but matchmaking did. It's amazing how much has changed. 10 years ago, any networked game that didn't ship with LAN and/or dedicated server support was a laughingstock of the industry. Today, having the latter rented to us is trying to be passed off as a rare treat.

    I may not have made it as a name on the research paper, but you will find me in the credits XD I participate a great deal in the Zooniverse projects, this one included, and I helped sort the crap data from those that contained real stuff =P
