Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D Discussion

Okay, since nobody is going to comment here, I will. I like this game, but I've come to the conclusion that the gameplay is inherently flawed. How, you say? Well, the usual combat tactic employed in Resident Evil games ever since 4 is this: when you get overwhelmed by enemies, or if one is simply too close, you run a ways away from them, turn around, and fire. This tactic works pretty good in RE 4 and 5, but in Mercenaries 3D they've screwed everything up by having more enemies come at you from the direction you're running. It's pointless to try to get some distance between yourself and the enemy, because the enemy is everywhere, constantly appearing in whatever direction you are trying to flee to. This is especially troublesome when you are dealing with highly dangerous enemies like the guy with the chaingun. The game simply doesn't give you any breathing space, and so combat devolves into a state of pure chaos in which you can't effectively deal with the threats around you. This game was obviously meant to be played cooperatively. So I guess single players like myself are just sh** out of luck.

I'm loving this game, but I like to play solo, and I'm realizing that the final mission (5-5) is not beatable without a partner. I can't even finish it playing solo, let alone score a rank of at least B. It's unfortunate that Capcom would allow the game to be played solo and yet make the final few missions so freaking difficult that a miracle is required for the single player to pass them.
