Line Rider 2: Unbound

Actually, Bound By Physics would be more accurate

Words: on November 5, 2008

The original Line Rider was an online hit thanks to its forehead-slappingly simple concept that caused hours of teeth-gnashing frustration: you have to draw a track for a guy on a sled to ride down, making sure you have your Big Book of Physics on hand to make sure he doesn’t go tumbling off the screen. Line Rider 2 is the same idea tarted up with an electronica soundtrack and a story to tie things together. Forty tracks are available in Story mode and you have to fill in the gaps and collect tokens, though in Freestyle you can create a track from scratch. Puzzle mode lets you devise your own ‘fill in the gaps’ posers, and these can be shared over Wi-Fi.

The trouble with Line Rider 2 is that while it’s not short of options, the core idea can wear thin quite quickly; if you’re bored after trying a few of the Story mode tracks, things are only going to get more complex rather than more interesting. Still, at least you can try it for free online first.

hmmm, i wonder how many story missions it will take before most people just go freestyle and drop their rider off a huge cliff, only to splat into the floor a loooong way down
