LEGO Lord of the Rings game revealed

According to a new report today, packaging materials have been found inside the new line of LEGO Lord of the Rings toy sets (sent out to early reviewers) that show a LEGO Lord of the Rings video game project is in the works.

Traveller's Tales will be the developer on the project, as they have been for all the previous iterations of the LEGO game series, which includes the LEGO-branded iterations of Batman, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Pirates of the Caribbean, Rock Band, Ninjago, Harry Potter, and others.

The sighting of the packaging materials confirms the speculation that arose after an online listing for the game showed up on UK retailer ShopTo (it was subsequently taken down, but Google Cache snared the image.)

LEGO Batman 2 was similarly revealed by packaging materials in advance LEGO sets. It is expected that Warner Bros. will announce more about the game in a few weeks at E3.

While the lego games are sort of growing old, I have to admit this is possibly the most exciting franchise to become tied to the series since the original star wars games. Not that I don't love both Indiana and Batman, but just Lord of The Rings seems somehow perfect for the lego treatment.

They should make a LEGO Monty Python and The Holy Grail game. It'd be hilarious.

Huh, i remember an article you guys wrote a few years ago that discussed the idea of a lord of the rings lego game.

I also remember that article. Good call, GR. I never even realised there was a physical LotR lego set, let alone a game adaptation, but there's no doubt about this, I WILL be buying it. It'll finally give me the ability to say I know what happens in the movies. I've never been able to sit and watch them all- they're too damn long for me (inb4 that's what she said)- and the LEGO abridged version should be perfect for a mind as attention-deficient as mine.

These are going to be full sets right? So I can finally park my 1300 piece Star Destroyer on a 22000 piece Mount Doom!
