Where to buy a PS5 in Australia: The new RRP has taken effect, so expect to pay at least AU$919 for a PS5

Nowadays it's easy to pick up a PS5 console or bundle in Australia, whether you're after the standalone disc or digital version, but getting them cheaper than RRP can sometimes be a challenge.

Things have gotten worse for PS5 bargain hunters, because on March 28 Sony announced a third price hike for all models of the PS5. Starting April 2, 2026, the base PS5 disc model now costs AU$999.95, the PS5 digital model costs AU$919.95, while the PS5 Pro is AU$1,399.95.

By the way, the digital PS5 and the PS5 Pro don't come with a disc drive, so you'll need to buy the Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive for PS5 for AU$124.95 to tack onto the side, if you're lucky enough to find one in stock.

This paints a pretty bleak picture for prospective PS5 owners: a base PS5 now costs AU$250 more than it did when it launched in November 2020. So it's probably more important than ever to keep an eye out for PS5 deals in Australia, and that's what this page is all about.

[May 25, 2026] We're tracking End of Financial Year sales for 2026. If history is any indication, Sony will run its Days of Play sale in June, so keep an eye out for possible PS5 bargains then.
[May 18, 2026] The Gamesmen is offering the digital edition of PS5 for AU$899.95, down from AU$919.95, and it comes with some free Fortnite in-game gear. Do note that it may only be worth it if you can click and collect: shipping is at least AU$13.08.
[May 11, 2026] Target and Kmart are flogging the digital PS5 for AU$749, which is significantly lower than its new RRP of AU$919.
[May 4, 2026] No significant PS5 bargains are available online this week, though if you're super desperate, Kogan is selling the PS5 disc edition for AU$799. The catch? It's secondhand. I wouldn't, but perhaps you would.
[April 28, 2026] JW.com.au is currently offering the PS5 Slim digital edition for AU$739, which is considerably less than its new AU$919.95 price.
[March 30, 2026] Mobileciti's eBay store is currently offering the PS5 digital console for AU$718 (down from AU$749) with free shipping.
