Tetris Splash
2007 | Microsoft | Xbox 360
Funny how water keeps coming up in this one isn't it? Tetris might not traditionally be a very relaxing game at all, and Xbox Live Arcade's Tetris Splashmight not be the most complete version of it available, but there's something about its personality that makes it an absorbingly smooth experience.
This is the high-neck sweatered, beret-wearing Tetris, bobbing casually along with it's jazzy version of the traditional theme music and soft, blue, ocean-themed visuals. Blocks land with casual drum beats which blend in seamlessly with the music as a quiet, breathy voice coolly informs you of your achievements. It's impossible not to find yourself sinking further and further back into the seat, even as your stack grows to game-threatening proportions. All very groovy indeed, as you can see below.

Former (and long-time) GamesRadar+ writer, Dave has been gaming with immense dedication ever since he failed dismally at some '80s arcade racer on a childhood day at the seaside (due to being too small to reach the controls without help). These days he's an enigmatic blend of beard-stroking narrative discussion and hard-hitting Psycho Crushers.
