By Shaun Prescott last updated 24 March 2026

Amazon has several big sales a year, and the first has already been and gone

Amazon's first big sale of the year has been and gone, with the Big Smile Sale running from March 16 to March 22. While there may be some smaller sales in the lead up, the next major Amazon sale is likely to be Amazon Prime Day, which usually takes place in July.

Amazon can usually be relied on to offer steep discounts on peripherals, including gaming headsets, during its sales. Dramatic discounts on consoles or up-to-date gaming laptops doesn't seem especially likely at the moment, though we saw some major PS5 discounts in the second-half of 2025, and even the Switch 2 got a chunk taken off its RRP, despite it newly releasing in June.

Amazon Prime | 30-day free trial

Amazon Prime | 30-day free trial
You will need an Amazon Prime membership to take part in this year's sale, but the retailer regularly offers free trials to get as many eyes on its site as possible. This 30-day offer will see you all the way through the sale without paying a cent!

Current Amazon discounts

  Borderlands 4
Save 58% (AU$69.62)
Borderlands 4: was AU$119.95 now AU$50.33 at Amazon

Gearbox's newest open world looter shooter gets a tidy discount in the months after launch, despite Randy Pitchford suggesting it wouldn't happen. If you're after a 50+ hour RPG sprawl that you can play with friends, this is well worth it at this price.

View Deal
  Ghost of Yōtei
Save 29% (AU$35.95)
Ghost of Yōtei: was AU$124.95 now AU$89 at Amazon

This is only borderline a deal: AU$99 is what Amazon is charging as a matter of course for this new PS5 exclusive, undercutting most of the competition by at least AU$10. If you're after another sumptuous open world in the prestige Sony mould, and loved Ghost of Tsushima, this is worth investigation.

View Deal
  Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl
Save AU$25
Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl: was AU$89 now AU$64 at Amazon

A nice price on this PS5 port of Stalker 2, which originally released as an Xbox exclusive. If you're after a gritty survival take on the first-person shooter, I can't recommend it highly enough. More than just a run-and-gun FPS, this one boasts complex RPG elements and unpredictable open world exploration. It's also pretty damn tense and scary.

View Deal
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2
Save 51% (AU$50.95)
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2: was AU$99.95 now AU$49 at Amazon

Bloodlines 2 has been divisive, and our review was unambiguously on the negative side. Still, among people who've waited so long for this sequel, there will be a desire to play it anyway, and this is about the best price we've seen for the modern vampire RPG. We called it "a boring, linear action brawler" but maybe you will call it a "masterpiece"? (Doubtful, but let's see.)

Animal Crossing New Horizons - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition
Save AU$18.95
Animal Crossing New Horizons - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition: was AU$87.95 now AU$69 at Amazon

A great price on this discount-shy Nintendo classic, which makes the jump here to Switch 2. It's the same brilliant cosy sim everyone enjoyed on Nintendo's previous console, only this one packs mouse controls, up to 12 players online, and GameChat support. Also, it benefits from the Switch 2's added horsepower.

View Deal
  Donkey Kong Bananza
Save 23% (AU$24.95)
Donkey Kong Bananza: was AU$109.95 now AU$85 at Amazon

Last year's biggest 3D platformer, and probably the best Switch 2 game so far, is available for a pre-Christmas bargain. It may not be the universal crowd pleaser that Mario Kart World is designed to be, but if you long for the halcyon days of 3D platformers, this is a gem.

View Deal
  Split Fiction
Save AU$6
Split Fiction: was AU$45 now AU$39 at Amazon

Hazelight's two-player odyssey skipped the original Nintendo Switch, but here it is for the Nintendo Switch 2. This co-op game is perfect for the extremely co-op friendly new console.

View Deal
  Pokémon Legends: Z-A
Save 23% (AU$24.95)
Pokémon Legends: Z-A: was AU$109.95 now AU$85 at Amazon

Amazon has carved a chunk off the RRP for this new Pokémon game, though it was lower earlier this week (AU$79). It's the first in the series to release natively for Nintendo Switch 2 (though it's coming to the older Switch too) so expect proceedings to be sharper and smoother than the famously ropey Scarlet & Violet. This one ditches turn-based combat for a live-action approach that's reminiscent of the Xenoblade Chronicles games.

View Deal
Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con 2 Charging Grip
Save AU$10.95
Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con 2 Charging Grip: was AU$49.95 now AU$39 at Amazon

The official charging grip can connect to your two Joy-Con 2 controllers and transform them into one gamepad. Better yet, it can also charge them in the process, which the original grip that came with the OG Switch was missing out on.

Amazon Prime gaming deals: FAQ

When is the next big Amazon sale in 2026?

If history is any indication, the next Amazon Prime Day will hit Australia in July and run for a full week. Official dates are yet to be revealed, but keep an eye out: we'll update this as soon as they are.

Do you need a membership for Prime Day gaming deals?

Yes, you will need a Prime membership to take advantage of the majority of this year's winter sale. However, you can easily pick up a 30-day free trial to comfortably see you through the event without spending a cent (provided you cancel your subscription before the recurring payment).
