There's Lego builds and then there's Lego builds, and this addition to Brickfair 2015 in Virginia earlier this month is absolutely in the latter camp. Created by Sean Cassidy and 18 other Lego creators, the Battle of New Mombasa from Halo 2 is over 20 square feet in size. That's over 30 of those 32x32 bases you used to build a house on.
"It was based off the end of the Metropolis level of Halo 2 Anniversary to celebrate the release of the Master Chief Collection," Cassidy tells GamesRadar+. "The build itself is a little over 20 square feet, took around 6 months to coordinate and plan, and about a month and a half to build. I spent hours looking through the mission in easy mode just to make sure I got as many of the details into the build as possible."
"We also used custom built vehicles designed by me and two other builders, and custom moulded and printed items for figures," he explains. "A neat feature to take note of is the printed Lego piece that mimics the classic civilian warthog billboard seen in the game. The build is fairly true to the level, aside from a few changes to add simplicity in some cases, and more detail in others. In fact, some of the towers are directly modelled off of some from the game." Check out the gallery above for some incredible highlights of the creation and visit Cassidy's Flickr to see more.
