This year has been a mess in so many ways, but at least we can now watch Mulan 2020 without having to leave home as a consolation prize. The live-action remake is now available via Disney Plus and its new 'Premier Access' experiment, allowing you to stream Mulan from anywhere.

But what is Premier Access? And how can we watch Mulan with it? In short, it's a new feature within Disney Plus where members pay a one-off fee to stream Mulan as often as they want. There's no time limit, either; unlike other view-on-demand services, the film will be available to watch as often as you like so long as you remain a Disney Plus subscriber.
That last bit is crucial; you need a Disney Plus membership ($6.99 / £5.99 / AU$8.99 / CA$9.99 per month) to begin with. Once you've got that, you'll have to pay a one-off fee of $29.99 / £19.99 / AU$34.99 / CA$34.99 for the movie itself. Subscribers can then watch Mulan whenever they want, and on any device that supports Disney Plus.
This may seem steep, but it's worth pointing out that you can't stream Mulan 2020 anywhere else. Think of it like a cinema launch: this is the only way to see the movie for the time being. In fact, it's not possible to watch Mulan on any other service or get it via DVD / Blu-ray. What's more, you won't be able to until it releases free for Disney Plus subscribers in a couple of months.
Oddly, you don't have all that long to take advantage of the deal. In early November (less than a month after Mulan's arrival on Premier Access this September 4) the film will no longer be available to purchase, even if you have a Disney Plus sign-up. As per Disney's Premier Access help page, "the [Mulan] Premier Access offer will be available until 2nd November 2020 at 23:59 PT". In other words, you'll have to grab the deal sooner than later if you want to watch Mulan. Otherwise you'll need to wait until it becomes available for all Disney Plus users at the end of this year.
Torn on whether you should get Premier Access? Its value will likely depend on how many in your household want to watch Mulan. If there are at least two of you, it'll cost a similar amount to seeing the film in theatres. If there are three or more, it could be considerably cheaper (even with the need to sign up for Disney Plus beforehand). Yes, you aren't getting the full cinema experience. But with everything going on right now, that's not strictly possible anyway.
Which is a shame - this version of Mulan offers a grander, more cinematic version than the 1998 animation. As an adaptation of the Ballad of Mulan from Chinese folklore, it follows the eldest daughter of an ailing warrior as she secretly takes his place to fight off invaders.
Ready? Let's get down to business: we've got everything you need to watch Mulan below.
