Proving itself not only king of the jungle and the Golden Globes, but also king of the UK box office, James Cameron’s Avatar is clinging on to the top spot of the charts with razor sharp claws.
Now in its fifth week of release, the anti-war actioner looks to be the one to beat, having now taken a whopping £49m of our hard earned pennies - £5.5m of that over this weekend alone.
Not even our very own Sherlock Holmes can compete, trailing behind in a very distant second place. Its total taking of £18.8m looks pitiful in comparison.
And, frankly, it’s embarrassing that Holmes is a mere £2m away from third place, which belongs to Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel .
Yes, we’re ashamed for our nation.
Other top five delights include St Trinian’s II: The Legend of Fritton’s Gold , sitting pretty at four. Meanwhile, Nicole Kidman is lagging behind at fifth place with musical Nine , despite some saucy dance routines courtesy of co-stars Penelope Cruz and Black-Eyed Pea Fergie.
Can this week’s release of Ninja Assassin and A prophet topple Avatar at last? We’ll let you know next week...
