Doctor Horrible Sings Again
Joss Whedon tells Sci Fi Wire that there will be a sequel to Doctor Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, but he’s keeping schtum about exactly what form it will take. "It is my intention that we will see more of young Billy and his horrible schemes, and I have a very specific idea of what that's going to be, but until I'm sure how I can roll it out, I will say nothing except that I'm definitely pursuing that," says Whedon. Meanwhile, there’s a brand spanking new Whedon interview about Dollhouse over at The Futon Critic , the TV site with an aversion to images.

Tron Star announced
Disney has announced that 25 year-old Garrett Hedlund will be the star of the upcoming Tron sequel, according to The Hollywood Reporter . Hedlund has appeared in minor roles in Troy, Four Brothers and Eragon (he keeps that on his CV?) and Hollywood Reporter describes him as being on the cusp of stardom. The article also suggests that Disney has seen the light and won’t be trying to market the movie as TR2N, which is just rubbish frankly. Apparently the film is now just being called Tron.

Make-Up Oscar Nominees
No, we don’t mean make-up your own nominees. We’re talking about nominees for the Best Make-Up Academy Award. The full list has just been announced and, o course, features a hefty bunch of latex-lovin’ SF/fantasy films: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Dark Knight and Hellboy II: The Golden Army will compete against The Reader, Synecdoche, New York, The Wrestler and Tropic Thunder in which Robert Downey Jr appeared as an Australian method actor playing a black soldier (which considering the furore that caused in some quarters would be a brave choice for winner). The Oscars take place on 22 February.

McG Dive Dive Dives
McG will follow up Terminator Salvation by directing family adventure movie 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Captain Nemo for Disney, reports Variety . According to the article the film will be an original tale showing Captain Nemo building the Nautilus.

Clash Of The Fantasy Films, Round Two
Ray Harryhausen always had a bit of a grudge against 1962’s Jack The Giant Killer, a fantasy film featuring stop motion beasts which starred and was directed by the same pair who’d starred and directed in Harryhausen’s own Seventh Voyage of Sinbad a couple of years previously. Rip-off, he claimed, and you’d be hard-pressed to disagree. Now, interestingly not only is there a remake of one of Harryhausen’s classic in the work – Clash of the Titan – but New Line has just announced that they’re remaking Jack The Giant Killer. According to Variety it will be directed by DJ Caruso who previously helmed Disturbia and Eagle Eye.
