Twilight: Breaking Dawn Director Announced

And there’s no hint from production company Summit that they’ll do a Harry Potter and split the last book in two

Summit has announced that Gods And Monsters director Bill Condon will be calling the shots on the final Twilight movie, Breaking Dawn . And it does seem it will be the final film, scotching rumours that the franchise would do a Harry Potter and spin the last novel out over two films (boyfriends of the world rejoice).

Condon has a bit of a mixed history as a director. Besides writing and directing Dreamgirls , Kinsey and Gods And Monsters , for which he won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay in 1999 and winning another Oscar nomination for his screenplay for Chicago in 2003, he cut his teeth on the horror movie sequel Candyman: Farewell To The Flesh .

Twilight author Stephenie Meyer reckons, “I’m so thrilled that Bill wants to work with us. I think he’s going to be a great fit, and I’m excited to see what he does with the material.”

“I’m very excited to get the chance to bring the climax of this saga to life on-screen. As fans of the series know, this is a one-of-a-kind book - and we’re hoping to create an equally unique cinematic experience,” said Bill Condon.

Whatever else you think about these films, they’re certainly picking some intriguing directors.
