Magneto On The Move
X-Men spin-off movie Magneto is still very much in development, scriptwriter David (Batman Begins/Dark Knight) Goyer has told MTV news (and picked up by Latino Review ). "I've been in touch with them," says Goyer. "I'm sure that project will move forward in the next year or so." According to internet scuttlebutt the movie would be a prequel, showing how Erik Lehnsherr (Magneto) and Charles Xavier went from being bestest mates to bitter enemies. We reckon that probably one of them borrowed a DVD from the other and never gave it back.

Hancock 2 Script Underway

Believe it or not, there could be a Hancock 2, according to The Hollywood Reporter . Columbia has hired scribes Adam Fierro and Glen Mazzara to pen a sequel to the unexpectedly successful Will Smith starrer about a slacker superhero (it grossed $624 million worldwide). To be fair, it was one of those movies that was better than it had any right to be… when it was concentrating on Smith as a hopeless, drunkard menace to society, anyway. It all went a bit wrong once the plot kicked in and it became a ludicrous action movie.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, though the scribes will work with Smith and the original’s director Peter Berg to build on the world hinted at in the first movie. Thing is, Hancock had cleaned up his act by the end of the first movie, and, as we said, it was at its best when he was washed up. Can we hope for a relapse?

Avatar To Spearhead 3D Blu-ray In Your Home
Panasonic is leaping on the Avatar bandwagon as a way of getting punters to invest in 3D Blu-ray systems for their homes, reports Variety . The manufacturer has been named exclusive audiovisual partner for the 3-D film and will promote it along with several of its upcoming products, including its Full HD 3-D technology, in a global advertising campaign. A truck tour showing a clip from the film on a 103-inch 3-D HDTV will be part of the promo push.
