First things first, this is not official Destiny 2 concept art. It was the first thing everyone thought when it appeared last night on Reddit but it's now been revealed as a rejected pitch from Destiny: The Taken King artist Aziz Dosmetov. The art was found on Dosmetov's personal website which has now been taking down and Kotaku's Jason Schreir has spoken to Dosmetov who confirmed it as a rejected pitch.
FYI I spoke to the artist, who said it was one of several rejected pitches and that it's not Destiny 2 concept art. https://t.co/jgyptltQ5UAugust 10, 2016
It doesn't make the below images any less impressive though and these burning outlines might just show off new subclasses for next year's big sequel. All we've got so far is a Destiny 2 release date of 2017 and the info is thin on the ground. From these images it looks like there's a fiery future on the way after the icy cold of the incoming Rise of Iron DLC. Either that or it's just to make the number 2 look really, really cool. Check out the Captain America-style shield, wings and spear.
