19 Jonathan Carnahan
The Mummy
Role: Cash-obsessed, devious (in his dreams, at least) and bumbling brother of romantic lead Evey.
The painful truth: John Hannah brought a nation to tears with his heart-wrenching eulogy in Four Weddings And A Funeral. Here he’s more likely to induce collective wincing. “No redeeming features” is the phrase that best sums up his Jonathan, an unlikeable, pointless, painfully unfunny shadow of a character who turns getting in the way into an artform. If only someone had had the foresight to kill him off so he couldn’t turn up in the sequels.
