Sci-Fi Bargains Of The Week

Hello and welcome to this week’s SFX Friday bargains round-up. As ever we’ve been chasing around the moons of Nibia, the Antares maelstrom and round perdition's flames to find you film, TV and other random geeky bargain ideas.

Kicking off this edition of bargains we have a few TV box-sets from Amazon’s “Deals of the Week.” For fans of the brothers in the Impala it has Supernatural seasons one to six on DVD for £47.97 .

Fans of the Nerd Herd can pick up Chuck seasons one to four on DVD for £20.97 .

Next we have Charlie Brooker’s Black Mirror . We brought you this a few weeks ago but this week it was spotted for just £7.97 on DVD , so we’re mentioning it again.

Something from the BBC next with the Tamzin Outhwaite starring sci-fi series Paradox . The DVD of the series can be yours for £9.97 .

Also spotted on Amazon this week we have the Batman animated movie DVD box-set for £11.64 .

Over on the HMV website we spotted a whole load of cheap Blu-rays including Guillermo del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth , Robert Rodriguez’s cinematic take on Frank Miller’s Sin City , Brandon Lee in The Crow and Duncan Jones’ excellent first film Moon , all for just £8 each.

A selection of Doctor Who -related goodies up next from Amazon: First we have The UNIT Files box-set which includes “The Android Invasion” and “Invasion of the Dinosaurs” on DVD for £12.97 .
We also found some Tom Baker era adventures including “The Sun Makers” on DVD for £8.70 , “Image of the Fendahl”, and again on DVD for the slightly cheaper £7.17 and finally “The Leisure Hive”, also on DVD for £7.17 .

In Asda this week we spotted loads of cheap Blu-rays including Troll Hunter for £8 , Contagion for £10 and Constantine for £7 . On the DVD front we saw a Superman collection for £7 and V for Vendetta and I am Legend for £5 each.

Also spotted were Minotaur (starring the future Bane) for £8 and KFZ (Kentucky Fired Zombies apparently ) for £7 . Asda also had the first two Men in Black films and Sam Rami’s Spider Man films for £9 each on Blu-ray or £5 each on DVD.

Across the road at Morrison’s this week the cheap DVDs were Witches of Eastwick, Beetlejuice, Blade Runner and A Clockwork Orange for £5 each and Mars Attacks and The Adjustment Bureau for £3 each. On the Blu-ray front Morrison’s had Highlander, Minority Report, Independence Day and I, Robot all for £7 each.

From the forum this week's bargains finder extraordinaire Midnighter told us he’d spotted the first eight volumes of Batman: The Brave & the Bold on DVD for £3 each in his local Morrison’s. He also brought news of The Ultimate Avengers movie collection again on DVD for £5 in Tesco.

Tim the Enchanter told us about seeing that W.H. Smiths are selling the Doctor Who Revisitations 2 box-set which contains “The Seeds Of Death”, “Carnival Of Monsters” and “Resurrection Of The Daleks” for the princely sum of £7 .

Finally from the forum this week Nightrain spotted Marvel cartoon DVDs, including Original Spiderman, The Incredible Hulk and Fantastic Four , all for just 99p each in The Works.

Our first random selection this week isn’t exactly cheap but given the way the weather’s been of late we thought you’d want to know about them. We’re talking about Star Wars lightsaber umbrellas. Available in Obi-Wan , Anakin and Darth Vader designs, each for £39.99 , they are the perfect geeky tool in this summer of endless rain. Each comes with a handy over-the-shoulder carrying case.

Never wanting to miss out on the chance of a good tie-in, Mr Potato Head has donned cape and cowl and been reinvented as Bat-Spud . He’s out next week and can be yours for just £16.99 .

Just one T-shirt for you this week; this True Blood Bon Temp Football shirt was spotted on offer for £8.49 .

Finally for this week we have the perfect thing for your The Dark Knight Rises after party. This Batman logo ice tray has been in bargains before but Firebox have it on a 45% off offer at just £5.49 . The site has other designs available several are also on offer. Check ‘em out.
