The devil may have all the best tunes, but this conspicuously un-cool scarer has some of the worst. Alex (Leo Gregory) and Maddy (Eva Birthistle) are musicians locked in a recording studio overnight to lay down tracks when they hear a mysterious song with lyrics that belong in a Goth’s bedroom.
Hidden sounds lead to haunted rooms and tedious occult mythology; excessive cutaways and genre gimmickry add a studenty feel and the material is stretched so thin that even a modest run time feels like horror done prog-rock style. Even worse, the whole thing takes itself so seriously it’s not even good for a laugh. Maybe it’s scarier if you play it backwards.
