Tidal Najarala

Element: Water
Ailment: Paralysis
Weakness: Fire, Thunder
Injured Sign: Limping
Breakable Spots: Face, Tail, Back, Back Legs

Tips: Tidal Najarala is bigger and tougher than regular Najarala. Like her cousin, Tidal Najarala is snake-like and will try to coil you and strike with her paralysing fangs. If you are using the Insect Glaive, you will have be able to easily vault out of her coil. Otherwise, you must look for the opening between her body and the end of her tail, and execute a well-timed roll before she’s able to put the squeeze on you. Tidal Najarala will also shoot small plates that stick into the ground. These plates damage on impact, and explode after a short amount of time after landing. Tidal Najarala can use the plates to ricochet her water spit towards unsuspecting hunters.

Diablos

Element: None
Ailment: None
Weakness: Ice
Injured Sign: Limping
Breakable Spots: Horns x2, Tail

Tips: Diablos, like his relative Monoblos, relies on his brute strength. Like Monoblos, Diablos will spend most of his time charging players and attempting to burrow charge from underneath the sand. Diablos will spin and body slam when you get close to him. The safest time to attack Diablos is when he is recovering from a charge. Pitfall traps are effective for breaking Diablos’s horns, but he will run over them while enraged without falling into them. Safe measures for killing Diablos include paralysing him or putting him to sleep and placing bombs.

Black Diablos

Element: None
Ailment: None
Weakness: Ice
Injured Sign: Limping
Breakable Spots: Horns x2, Tail

Tips: Black Diablos is the female Diablos during mating season. Black Diablos is more aggressive than her male counterpart, and tends to attack other monsters on sight. Like her fairer scaled mate, she will spend most of his time charging players and attempting to burrow charge from underneath the sand. Black Diablos will spin and body slam when you get close to her. The safest time to attack Black Diablos is when she is recovering from a charge.

Pitfall traps are effective for breaking Black Diablos’s horns, but she will run over them while enraged without falling into them. Safe measures for killing Black Diablos include paralysing her or putting her to sleep and placing bombs. Black Diablos is one of the fastest monsters on record, so if you need to heal or use items, consider leaving the zone to do so.

Chaos Gore Magala

Element: None
Ailment: Frenzy Virus
Weakness: Fire, Dragon
Injured Sign: Limping
Breakable Spots: Face, Wings, Tail, Horns

Tips: Chaos Gore Magala is the half-molted version of Gore Magala. For some reason, this Gore Magala has not been able to transition into Shagaru Magala, and is stuck in an awkward teenage form. No matter how good you are at dodging its attacks, if you are using a melee weapon, Chaos Gore Magala will inevitably infect you will the Frenzy Virus. Frenzy Virus will negate natural healing completely, and make you more susceptible to elemental attacks. The best way to get rid of frenzy virus is to attack relentlessly, and the best way to do that is to mount him and knock him over.

Even when Chaos Gore Magala is low on stamina (evident by his purple glow turning grey), he will continue his attack relentlessly. There are very few “openings” when fighting Chaos Gore Magala, directly after a charge or breath attack, and that’s about it. It is safest to fight Chaos Gore Magala from behind by his tail or flanking near his back, since Chaos Gore Magala’s dragon breath originates from his head. When you KO him, make sure you take advantage by breaking his head and feelers.

Chameleos

Element: Dragon
Ailment: Poison, Fatigue, Defense Down
Weakness: Dragon, Fire
Injured Sign: Limping
Breakable Spots: Horn, Tail

Tips: Chameleos is an elder dragon with the ability to become invisible by blending into the background. If his horn and tail are broken, he will lose this ability. Bring plenty of antidotes when fighting Chameleos, because he burps poison at you and then uses his wings to create large areas of poison that are difficult to avoid. Do not fight Chameleos head on, because he will use his lashing tongue to steal items from you.

Gogmazios

Element: Fire
Ailment: Tarred, Fireblight, Severe Fireblight
Weakness: Dragon, Fire
Injured Sign: None
Breakable Spots: Head, Tail, Wings, Chest, Back

Tips: Gogmazios is the the final monster of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. His battle takes place in the same pit area the Kushala Daora Village Quest trains you to use. Gogmazios is huge, but if you are using an Insect Glaive, he can be mounted by vaulting from the ground onto his rear, just above his tail. Otherwise, he can be mounted by walking next to the platforms outside of the pit and jumping off when he is close. If you are using an Insect Glaive, also note that unlike most monsters, his head will not yield Red Juice. His head will yield Orange Juice, so for Red Juice you will have to set your Kinsect on his wing claws. It is very easy to triple up on Gogmazios, because he is so large.

Gogmazios initiates his thrashes and firebreath from his front half, so the safest place to stand when fighting Gogmazios in melee is near his rear. His rear becomes even safer once his tail has been cut off. Until then, look out for tail swishes and dripping tar that you can get stuck in. If you get stuck in the tar, wail your analogue stick and press B repeatedly to shake it off. After enough damage is dealt to Gogmazios’s head and back, the Dragonator he was wearing will fall off into the pit, and can be used to knock him down again.

When Gogmazios flies up, use the ropes around the level to climb out of the pit, because he spits multiple exploding puddles and breathes a deadly laser all around the area of the pit. You can take the time out of the pit to make use of the built-in weapons scattered around the level. In addition to having a Dragonator and multiple ballistas, like in the fight against Dah’ren Mohran, you’ll now also have a mobile cannon.

The mobile cannon can be steered around the track by hitting the dials positioned to the left and right on the front of the cannon pad. The cannon can be loaded with up to two cannonballs at a time, from the various piles located around the level behind the cannon pad. The cannonballs must be inserted in the tubes on the left and right on the back of the cannon pad. Unlike the cannon in the Dah’ren Mohran fight, the cannon must be manually activated after it is loaded, by hitting the button located behind the cannon barrel in the centre of the cannon pad. The mobile cannon is especially useful for knocking Gogmazios out of the air when the Dragonator is on cooldown.

There are multiple binding mechanisms located in the pit. A prompt will display when the bindings are ready to use, the binding will fire straight forward from the position they are angled. Make your binding shots count to ground Gogmazios and gain access to his tender head and chest. When the big guns come off of cooldown, be sure to make use of them! You can bait Gogmazios near the Dragonator by climbing out of the pit and walking near the Dragonator button.

Gogmazios hits hard, and we recommend having at least 600 armour before attempting to fight him. Eating for Felyne Defender (Hi) is good as well, reducing the damage often if he happens to nudge you. Make sure to bring plenty of healing potions, and consider fighting Gogmazios with a team of equally well-geared players.
