Mario Golf: Super Rush has arrived. The latest in Nintendo’s club-obsessed series is coming to Nintendo Switch on June 25th. We haven’t seen a Mario Golf game since Mario Golf: World Tour back in 2014 so it’s especially exciting to see Mario and friends back in all their colourful glory. And we do mean all. Mario Golf: Super Rush lets you choose from 16 Mushroom Kingdom characters who each have their own Special Shot and Special Dash moves to make sure golfing with friends is as speedy as possible. You definitely haven’t played golf quite like this before….

Mario has an ultra-powerful Super Star Strike as his Special Shot and a Moonsault Dash as his own unique way of hurtling across the course. Luigi, on the other hand, has an Ice Flower Freeze and an impressive Speed-Skate Dash to keep up with the competition. Or perhaps your go-to is Princess Peach who is ready with a Spiral Stinger Special Shot and a Ribbon Dash to send foes flying like skittles as you run. There are too many to list here but whether you’re effortlessly balancing on an egg as Yoshi with his, you guessed it, Egg Roll Dash, or spinning into action with Boo’s Carousel Dash, Mario Golf: Super Rush is a perfect way to challenge your friends and family.

Mario Golf: Super Rush lets you join up to three other players on the fairway both locally* and online** and you can choose to play Speed, Battle, or Standard Golf. In Speed Mode, as you might gather from the title, the name of the game is racing across the course as fast as possible to get that ball in the hole. Other players will cause chaos and even the course itself is littered with hazards to make things that bit more challenging. Everyone tees off at once and all you have to do is keep collecting items to get your stamina back and make sure to ace those shots. And, if that doesn’t sound relentless enough, Battle Golf is a variation on Speed Golf that lets you take on nine holes at the same time.

If you’re looking for something a little more peaceful, multiplayer Standard Golf lets you enjoy the scenery of locations like the lush Bonny Greens or the blustery Ridgerock Lake with time on your side. It’s here where you can really practice your golfing technique and outshine your friends and family with carefully considered shots. On Nintendo Switch you can use button controls or motion controls holding your Joy-Con like a real golf club to get your swing just right. The good news is that you’ll have a shot gauge and a scanner to make sure you’re reading the terrain correctly for those curve balls. Just remember to keep an eye on wind speed.

And if you want to play solo, it’s time to sign up your Mii to a prestigious country club. In Mario Golf: Super Rush’s single player Golf Adventure you can earn your way to Pro status. Here you’ll meet plenty of Mushroom Kingdom characters as you take on different challenges and you can upgrade your Mii’s stats like power and run speed as you progress. You can even buy new clubs and outfits and then use your Mii to take on other players in multiplayer. That is, if you can resist that Egg Roll Dash…
