Kristen Stewart is one of those young actresses who hit it big with one role (Panic Room, as Jodie Foster’s proactive daughter) and then hasn’t seemed to find the right part for her (though we hear good things about her in Into The Wild).
She’ll be hoping that Twilight is the role that gets her kudos level back on track as she signs on to play a 17-year-old girl who arrives to live in a small town with her father and ends up drawn to a weird classmate who at first doesn’t want anything to do with her. But then lurve blossoms, which is just dandy until her beau’s nasty nemesis hits town.
Catherine Hardwicke has taken on the director’s chair, working from Melissa Rosenberg’s script, adapted from Stephenie Meyer’s novel. It starts shooting in February, and if it’s successful there are two follow-up books to fuel a franchise…
