Gattaca The Series

Apostle Films, the production company behind the US show Rescue Me, has bought the rights to Andrew Niccol’s 1997 SF film Gattaca, with plans to develop it as a one-hour sci-fi police procedural TV series, according to Variety .

Gattaca was set in a near future of genetic fascism, where people who are born naturally – as opposed to being genetically engineered – are considered second class citizen. It was written and directed by Andrew Niccol, who also wrote The Truman Show, and starred Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman. The smallscreen adaptation will be written by Gil Grant (a consulting producer on NCIS and 24) and is being developed through Sony TV's international division.
