Filming on Daredevil: Born Again season 3 has wrapped – but Marvel fans are worried about the future.

News recently broke that Wonder Man season 2 was cancelled, despite the show being previously officially renewed. That, combined with the fact that there are no live-action Marvel shows on the release slate past Born Again season 3 next year, has fans thinking the age of MCU TV might be coming to an end.

"I have a feeling this is the last season because S2 didn't have as [many] viewers as S1 did... and after Wonder Man you never know," says one fan.

"I really hope this season won't be the last time we see everyone," says someone else. "Man, please don't be the last," asks another fan.

"Crazy how it's looking like Daredevil Born Again S3 will be the last season of live action Marvel television for a while… An end to a very interesting era in the MCU," is another person's thoughts.

"I hope it's not the last one," says another person. "Probably the final season," predicts another person.

"I think it's gonna wrap up in the 3rd one, and honestly, as long as there's something for the future of the Defenders and a big role in the next MCU movies, I'll be satisfied," says another fan.

"Sorry it took so long to say, but THAT'S A WRAP on production for Season 3 of Daredevil Born Again," showrunner Dario Scardapane wrote on his Instagram story. "Thank you to Marvel and the magnificent cast and crew that made this season something very, very, very special. I'm humbled daily by the talent I get to work with. Cannot wait for you to see what all these twisted minds have come up with. #BestCrewEver"

It's unclear at the moment whether this really is the end of the road for Daredevil. What is clear, though, is that Wonder Man season 2 definitely isn't happening.

"I love that show to death. If it were up to me, we would be making that show," co-creator Destin Daniel Cretton said recently. "And I do believe that if – and I know this sounds weird – but if it were up to Kevin [Feige], we would be doing that show."

Ewan McGregor has revealed the "unfinished" part of Obi-Wan's story that could bridge the gap between Disney Plus miniseries Obi-Wan Kenobi and A New Hope.

When responding to a quickfire question from The End of Oak Street co-star Anne Hathaway with Esquire about what he considers 'unfinished' in Obi-Wan's timeline, McGregor pointed to the decade pre-A New Hope that has largely been left untouched by wider Star Wars media.

"Everything that we did between the end of the TV series that we did and Alec Guinness [in A New Hope]. There's 10 years of something happening to Obi-Wan," McGregor said. "At the end of the series, I leave Luke on Tatooine, Princess Leia is safe, and I go off into the desert on my camel – a eopie, I think they're called."

McGregor returned to the role in 2022's Obi-Wan Kenobi, which also reunited him with Anakin actor Hayden Christensen. Despite that, there's probably plenty of narrative juice left to squeeze out of one of the few characters unexplored during the rise of the Empire.

Even if nothing comes to fruition on the screen with McGregor, Star Wars comics have filled in the blanks somewhat with Obi-Wan's time in exile.

Marvel's 2015 Star Wars series included a series of journal entries from an elderly Obi-Wan, charting his time on Tatooine watching over Luke Skywalker.

There's also 2022's Obi-Wan comic miniseries, a five-issue run that sees the Jedi recount stories from his past while in a hut on the desert planet.

Elsewhere in a galaxy far, far away, Ahsoka season 2 is just over the horizon – presumably in 2027.

Star Wars: Starfighter, directed by Shawn Levy and starring Ryan Gosling, is set for release on May 28, 2027. The pair will team up again for Marvel's Ghost Rider movie, which was announced at last month's SDCC panel.

Disney Plus Wonder Man series co-creator Destin Daniel Cretton says he's just as confused and heartbroken as the rest of us over the show's cancellation... but that it wasn't Marvel boss Kevin Feige's decision.

"I love that show to death. If it were up to me, we would be making that show," Cretton told TheWrap. “And I do believe that if – and I know this sounds weird – but if it were up to Kevin, we would be doing that show.”

Continued Cretton: "I'm just talking; I don’t fully understand the business of streaming, but if the business was right, we would be making that show because I know Kevin loves that show as much as I do. It's a bummer. I’m heartbroken about it. But I need to fully understand the why."

The statement comes just a day after co-creator Andrew Guest confirmed that the cancellation was "not a marketing stunt" and that "there is no movie in the works." He also clarified that there were no issues with anyone's schedules, including Cretton's (who has a lot on his plate after directing Spider-Man: Brand New Day).

Wonder Man follows Simon Williams (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), a struggling actor with secret superpowers, as he auditions for the lead role in a superhero movie. He crosses paths with the rather eccentric Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley), and the two strike up an unlikely friendship. The series currently sits at a Rotten Tomatoes score of 91%, and a rather impressive audience rating of 88%. A second season was announced back in March (and I am still really, really sad about this).

Iron Fist star Jessica Henwick has revealed she had conversations with Marvel about returning as her character Colleen Wing in Daredevil: Born Again season 3.

But while Jessica Jones and Luke Cage returned in season 2 – and Danny Rand will be back in season 3 – Colleen will not be making an appearance.

"I've said multiple times over the years, I would love to come back. I know that everyone is back this season. I'm not in this season," Henwick told Inverse. "We did have discussions about whether I should go back this season. But for me, her story ended with her going off into the sunset. She has the Iron Fist. She's got Misty by her side. Daughters of the Dragon is happening. She ended on a really great note."

However, that doesn't mean the door is permanently closed. "I'm just not interested in bringing her back unless it's worth sort of unpicking that happiness, because obviously she can't be happy on a TV series. If she's back, something's gone wrong," Henwick explained. "I would absolutely love to come back, but it would just really have to be the right story."

It sounds like Marvel was in agreement. "They were like, 'Yeah, we don't want to bring you back, and then you just [stand] in the back of the shot.' So hopefully soon, but I don't really know," she added.

One character who is returning for season 3 is Elodie Yung's Elektra, and we've already had a look at her comeback thanks to a set video.

One House of the Dragon season 3 fan has worked out just how many characters still need to die before the show ends with season 4 – and it's a lot.

Only one episode remains of season 3, and, if season 4 also has eight episodes, that leaves only nine left for the entire show.

A warning that the following will contain major spoilers from George R.R. Martin's Fire and Blood, so turn back now if you're not up to date!

"There's only 9 episodes left…. how are they gonna kill off all of these characters and the dragons without it being just a constant run of death scenes? How are they gonna kill Stormcloud when buddy is off in Pentos??" asks one fan on Twitter.

They add: "Literally they have to kill Rhaenyra, Daemon, Joffrey, Mysaria, Addam, Ulf, Hugh, Ormund, Daeron, Helaena, Aegon2, Aemond, all the dragons, and maybe Jaehaera depending on how they end the series. 12 + the dragons, in just 9 episodes."

"They're gonna speed run the ending like D&D did with GOT and it's gonna ruin everything more than it already is," says someone else. "Either that or they're taking the Stranger Things 5 route and making every episode movie-length"

"It's gonna be such a logistical nightmare for writers like why are we stalling," says another person.

"They're probably just not going to hit all those points and people should start making peace with it now lol," says another fan.

However, not everyone is worried. "Daemon, Aemond, Caraxes, and Vhagar all die together. Mysaria, Helaena, and a bunch of dragons will be offed in quick succession. I don't know if the showrunners will want two Battles of Tumbleton, so Hugh, Ulf, and Ormund might not make it to next season," points out one person.

"Ormund, Addam, Ulf, Hugh & Daeron die same episode with their dragons. Aemond & Daemon die same ep. Helaena, Mysaria & Joffrey die same ep, possibly same ep as Aemond and Daemon. Rhaenyra dies penultimate, Aegon dies finale. That's 4, possibly even 3 episodes," argues someone else.

It certainly seems like season 4 will be packed with major deaths – though the season 3 finale also has plenty of scope for a bloodbath.

Even when it comes to blogging, George R.R. Martin is not especially prolific. The beloved Game of Thrones creator has posted an increasingly rare update on his Not a Blog blog for the first time since February, and we're still none the wiser about when The Winds of Winter will finally release.

"This year has been… stressful, to say the least," started a sombre Martin, who noted that he has "lost friends" and "battled sadness and depression" during his time away. Back at the beginning of the year, Martin gave an interview to The Hollywood Reporter where he revealed, in frank terms, that his relationship with House of the Dragon showrunner Ryan Condal is "abysmal" and that the show is "not my story any longer," no doubt a contributing factor to that stressful year.

It's not all been doom and gloom for Martin, however. He's still closely involved with A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms as the show's co-creator, and dedicates much of his latest blog post to celebrating that show's nine Emmy nominations, with the caveat that "I was hoping we'd get a few of the acting nominations as well. But there's always next year." A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2 is close to completing production. In fact, Egg star Dexter Sol Ansell recently revealed he's already wrapped filming.

What Martin, pointedly, doesn't offer is any kind of update on The Winds of Winter. The long (long) awaited next chapter in Martin's mammoth A Song of Ice and Fire saga is set to follow 2011's A Dance With Dragons. But, over 15 years on, we're none the wiser about when the book will actually release. And it's not even the final Game of Thrones book that Martin needs to write, with A Dream of Spring expected to follow.

At 77 years old, you can hardly blame Martin for slowing down somewhat (OK, a lot) when it comes to his writing. However, he has been keeping plenty busy. As well as a hands-on role with A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, that show's co-creator, Ira Parker, has suggested that Martin is currently penning a fourth Dunk and Egg novella. A new Game of Thrones play, The Mad King, is also currently in previews in the UK, and is set in the final years before the events of the novels.

As for The Winds of Winter, Martin previously welcomed imprisonment if he didn't finish the much-anticipated book by a certain deadline. And that deadline passed 6 years ago...

Warhammer 40K fans are eating well this week. Hot on the heels of the news that a new Deathwatch animated series is in the works, Henry Cavill has confirmed that he's still set to star in the live-action Warhammer 40K series on Prime Video.

In a state-of-the-nation post on Instagram, Cavill confirmed recent reports that Mike Flanagan has been brought on to write the Warhammer 40K live-action series, with the former Man of Steel and Warhammer mega-fan noting that they have already made "considerable advances in the story" since Flanagan's involvement.

On the recently announced Deathwatch animated show, Cavill revealed that he and producer Natalie Viscuso are "working closely" with series lead Dave Wilson to ensure "things line up with the overall universe plan." A hint, perhaps, that both shows will be more closely connected than you might expect.

And most important of all, despite initial reports that Cavill would star in a Warhammer series breaking way back in December 2022, the star (re)confirmed that he will indeed lead the live-action Warhammer show. "Rest assured, I most certainly will!" Cavill said, stopping short of offering even a morsel of further information. "Who that character is, however, shall remain a secret for now!"

Cavill's post arrives in the wake of an annual report from Games Workshop CEO Kevin Rountree, in which the minifig bigwig dropped a motherlode of Warhammer news, apparently ahead of schedule, including the involvement of Flanagan in the live-action show and the existence of the Deathwatch animated series. "Some news got ahead of us last week, but we wanted to wait a quick beat for the dust to settle, some deals to finalise and, if nothing else now [to] confirm some rumours!" Cavill said.

Beyond the Warhammer 40K setting, little is known about the live-action show. But Cavill is a lifelong fan, and is evidently taking all the time needed to get it right: "I have loved Warhammer since I was a boy, making this moment truly special for me," Cavill said back in 2022. "The opportunity to shepherd this cinematic universe from its inception is quite the honor and the responsibility."

A Warhammer 40,000 animated show is in the works at Prime Video, with nerd king Henry Cavill on board to produce. The animated show will exist alongside the long-gestating live-action series, which Cavill is set to star in.

The new animated show will be spun off from the Warhammer 40,000 episode of Amazon's 2024 video game-themed anthology show Secret Level, per Variety, which had its own standalone Warhammer installment. That episode's director, Dave Wilson, co-created the Warhammer 40,000 animated series alongside Band of Brothers' John Orloff. Cavill will executive produce with Tim Miller, who, as well as directing Deadpool and the ill-fated Terminator: Dark Fate, is the co-founder of visual effects/animation house Blur Studios.

It's unknown how close the links to the Secret Level episode, 'And They Will Know No Fear' will be, but the show is said to center on The Deathwatch – a decentralized group of specialist marines who hunt aliens. "Secret Level’ wasn’t conceived simply as an anthology. It was designed as a launchpad for larger stories," said Wilson in a statement. "This series gives us the opportunity to build on that foundation and tell a much larger story."

As for Prime Video's other Warhammer show, despite the involvement of super-fan Cavill, there's been little forward momentum over the years. However, only last week we learned a lot from Games Workshop CEO Kevin Rountree in the company's latest earnings report (sexy).

As well as first revealing the existence of this animated show, Rountree shared that master of horror Mike Flanagan has joined the live-action project as a writer. He also confirmed that there will be another Warhammer-themed episode in Secret Level season 2, this one set in the Age of Sigmar universe.

The existence of the Cavill-led Warhammer 40k show was first revealed way back in December 2022, but it took two years for Cavill to confirm his involvement. "My incredible team and I, alongside the brilliant minds at Games Workshop, have been working away in concept rooms, breaking down approaches to the enormity and magnificence of the Warhammer world." It could be years still until the show hits screens. Let's hope this new animated series is more than a stopgap while we wait.

It sounds as though It: Welcome to Derry season 2 will be even bloodier and more brutal than the first season, as co-creator and showrunner Andy Muschietti confirms the show will embrace the dark 1930s era it is set in.

The new season will take place in 1935, which we already knew, as IT the clown returns to Derry every 27 years. However, unlike Stephen King's original novel, which differs in timeline, Welcome to Derry season 2 will have to deal with the fallout of the great depression. "There’s gonna be a lot of that depression-era hustling in the air in our characters," said Muschietti to Variety. "Everybody’s trying to get by and survive the circumstances. They are gonna do crazy things."

"And of course, the social, cultural, horrible things that were happening in the era, too. We’re not going to skip those. [They are the] very center and the heart of our story." It sounds as though historical events will change the setup of the show too. Rather than following a bunch of kids around on bicycles, season 2 will embrace a different aesthetic.

"In this case, on the surface, Derry is a graveyard almost. It’s a carcass of something because people are depleted, poor, tired, jobless, homeless. The kids don’t have a suburban, comforting life. They’re in a very different situation," added Muschietti. Some of them are orphans or runaways, and so the environment is pretty bleak. But there’s always the aspect of hope that is always there, burning, and it’s what keeps our new group going.”

It: Welcome to Derry season 1 takes place in 1962, and sees the entity target some of the parents of the original Losers Club from the 2017 It movie. The first movie was set 27 years after Welcome to Derry season 1, and the second movie was set 2017 years after the first movie. But as the second film marks the end of the clown, now the only way to tell the story is backwards. After season 2, Welcome to Derry season 3 will jump back another 27 years to 1908, when It first took shape as a clown.

As outlined in King's works, each time It returns, a devastating event takes place. The first movie saw Bill's brother George ferociously murdered, and the second movie kicked off with a gruesome hate crime on a tourist. Then in season 1, it was the devastating Black Spot fire. Season 2 will focus on the Bradley Gang Massacre, following a group of outlaws who descended on Derry and caused havoc in the town.

House of the Dragon has made a number of divisive adaptive choices in bringing George R.R. Martin's Fire and Blood ot the screen, but arguably the most significant has been keeping Helaena off her dragon, Dreamfyre. And now one of the show's regular directors has weighed in on the contentious decision.

Spoilers for House of the Dragon season 3 episode 7 'The Dragon in Winter' lie ahead.

During the latest episode, dreamer Helaena Targaryen has a series of potentially prophetic visions. In one, Helaena is finally seen on the back of her dragon Dreamfyre, as hundreds of citizens storm the dragonpit in King's Landing. This is noteworthy because the show's version of Helaena, much like her grandfather, King Viserys, refuses to ride her dragon, fearing the corrupting power of controlling a living nuclear weapon.

Now, the episode's director, Nina Lopez-Corrado, has gone some way to explaining the controversial adaptive change, and what that vision could mean. “Helaena has such a strong feeling about the dragons in which she’s torn because she thinks that they do change people and that they’ve changed their whole world, essentially,” Lopez-Corrado told Entertainment Weekly. “So when she sees herself on the dragon and sees Dreamfyre basically take out all of King’s Landing, internally for her it burns deep.... I think she knows that deep down inside, because she is a Targaryen, there almost is no positive outcome to anything that’s happening in regards to this war in this family. And the dragons, as long as they exist, are going to keep this inner turmoil inside of the Targaryens.”

The changes to Helaena's story are something of a sore spot, as they are at the heart of George R.R. Martin's infamous "toxic butterflies" blog post. In the post, Martin explained that seemingly small changes to season 2's Blood and Cheese sequence would have serious repercussions down the line, with the absence of Helaena's son, Prince Maelor, from the scene a particular sticking point.

Showrunner Ryan Condal seems to be making good on his promise to Martin to "postpone" Maelor's introduction, however, as Helaena is currently pregnant with the young prince. Martin, and the fandom at large, however, have been concerned ever since about the show's home stretch in light of such potentially catastrophic deviations.

With just one episode left to go, House of the Dragon season 3 lived up to its title this week. Not only did we get our first proper glimpse of Dreamfyre, but there was also a four-way dragon battle in which Sheepstealer was almost killed. Aegon's dragon, Sunfyre, was also revealed to be alive, though, much like his rider, he's now looking a lot worse for wear after his season 2 run-in with Vhagar.

It wasn't just fans who had the rug pulled from under their feet last week when Marvel cancelled Wonder Man out of the blue just months after it had been renewed for season 2, as even showrunner Andrew Guest was shocked about the decision.

"I just want to say that I've been listening. I appreciate you all. I feel how you all feel, and I just want to clear up what I can here," said Guest over on TikTok just days after the news broke online. "This is not a marketing stunt. There is no movie in the works, and Destin's schedule... no one's schedule was an issue."

Many presumed that the enormous success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day had something to do with the cancellation. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Brand New Day, which hit screens last Friday, July 31, is projected to earn close to $1 billion worldwide. Fans thought this meant Marvel had cancelled Wonder Man, which was directed by Cretton, in order to move the filmmaker onto bigger projects.

However, Guest says that both Cretton, stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Sir Ben Kingsley, and himself "all loved making this show," and "felt passionately about continuing to do it, and were eager to." However, something changed higher up. "There was a decision made internally between Disney and Marvel that this didn't make sense for them, even though a few months ago it did. That's all I really know."

In fact, the team had already been making major moves toward the sophomore season. "Contracts were signed, schedules were clear, the writer's room was supposed to start this month, production was supposed to begin early next year," said Guest. "I had written the first episode of season 2, and we had it outlined for where the season would go, and everyone felt really good about it. It was going to be a really incredible season that hopefully surpassed season 1."

It is not clear why Marvel and Disney decided to scrap the show, which was met with largely positive reviews and stands at an impressive Rotten Tomatoes score of 91%. However, Guest wants fans to continue to share their opinions on the matter. "I think there are important conversations being had online about the kind of stories that we're prioritising and the kind of shows platforms want to make."

Much has been said about how Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 pulled heavily from classic JRPGs - Final Fantasy, Persona, Lost Odyssey, etc - but the hit game also drew lots of inspiration from some of the best anime shows around, including Attack on Titan and Bleach.

Speaking to Automaton about the game's influences, Sandfall Interactive CEO Guillaume Broche says "one of the anime that inspired me for Expedition 33's story was Attack on Titan." Both have pretty existential themes and a cast of characters who are almost constantly face-to-face with a life-ending threat that seems inevitable.

"I really like the idea of a group of heroes fighting together, and I especially love the uniform," Broche explains. "When you see any character from Attack on Titan, you instantly know they're an Attack on Titan character because of the uniform. That's something I really wanted to bring over into Expedition 33, making the game recognizable just from its uniforms."

Broche then mentions he's midway through a series rewatch, "and really, it's an absolute masterpiece for me." Hear, hear.

Attack on Titan's instantly recognizable cast and sleek uniforms weren't the only anime-flavored well the team at Sandfall drew from. Lead character and concept artist, Alan Reynaud, shouts out Bleach as another important touchstone for the studio: "I have to mention Bleach because the character designs in the series are spectacular. One of the things we took from it was designs that are super simple yet incredibly memorable. We wanted to have something like that, with a 'rule of cool' approach. I'd say that was a big inspiration for the character creation."

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 director prefers JPRGs to the likes of Skyrim, Fallout, and Baldur's Gate because their linear narratives allow for "a stronger story" and "more memorable characters"

Netflix's upcoming The One Piece remake has the huge task of condensing the events of the original anime series' first 30 episodes into just seven episodes, but the director says it was originally supposed to be even shorter.

"The series has a runtime of 300 minutes. It was originally planned to be shorter than that, but I had so many things I loved and wanted to include," said The One Piece director Masashi Koizuka to Den of Geek. "The runtime just kept getting longer and longer."

That is surprising, as the new show already has the momentous task of condensing the first 50 chapters of Eiichiro Oda's original One Piece manga into its first season. The One Piece will take us back to where it began, when Monkey D Luffy first created the Straw Hat Pirate crew. The new show is expected to cover half of the East Blue Saga.

However, the goal is to do something different with the material, and retell the beloved story in a way that is also more accessible for new fans. If you haven't already seen One Piece, it can be intimidating to get started with the anime franchise, after 22 seasons and over 1000 episodes. That's not counting the multiple One Piece movies, too.

"We want you to experience a new One Piece from the very beginning, all over again," said Koizuka. George Wada, co-founder and president of WIT Studio best known for the Attack on Titan series, added, "What’s a greater challenge than reinventing ONE PIECE for a whole new generation of fans?"

However, One Piece fans will get something out of the new series too, as Koizuka recalls advice he got from One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda. According to Koizuka, Oda told The One Piece staff, "I want you all to express, rather than copy and paste the work… it's creating your interpretation and expression instead of recreating a panel from the manga."

Wonder Man season 2 has been canceled, which means Marvel Studios' TV presence is getting pretty sparing. As one MCU fan has noticed, there are now only two Disney Plus shows in production, and they both release in the next eight months.

As it stands, VisionQuest, which ends the WandaVision saga, and Daredevil: Born Again season 3 are the only remaining live-action shows in the Marvel line-up. There are a few more in development on the animation side, including X-Men '97 season 4 and Marvel Zombies season 2, but it certainly seems that the strategy is shifting at Marvel HQ.

Kevin Feige spoke recently about the decision to not release any Marvel movies between Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. "A lot of it is a strategy we've talked about for a while, of focusing on quality," Feige told Empire magazine. "We always try to focus on quality, but when quantity is so much, you get spread thin. We didn't want to be spread thin, and the Avengers is as important as it comes."

It seems they're now planning a similar approach to TV shows, streamlining the narrative of the MCU projects once again. I was a big fan of Wonder Man and would have enjoyed seeing it return, but I've got to admit that I'm relieved by this seeming shift in strategy.

Marvel has been having a lot of problems since releasing Avengers: Endgame. Mainly referred to as superhero fatigue, it's been a case of casting too wide a net. Films have introduced endless new characters who we've never seen again (Eros who?) and brought the MCU in exceedingly far-reaching directions.

While it's been fun to try out new genres, it's all gotten a bit muddled. Realigning the MCU back around its tentpole Avengers movies and the upcoming X-Men film feels like a smarter choice. It also means we'll hopefully have fewer announcements of projects that never materialize (a Blade movie, Shang-Chi 2, and Armor Wars to name a few).

I'm hoping that the restructuring of Marvel's upcoming releases will mean a bit more focus on what the universe is planning to create. At the very least, it seems to be an admission that something needs to change for the MCU going forward to allow it to last as long as Feige plans (up to at least 2042, according to his recent comments). That in itself feels like progress.

Ahsoka season 2 is coming next year, and it sounds like we can expect big things from the second installment of the Star Wars show when it arrives.

"A lot of action. Fights, battles, explosions, lightsabers, lasers," Eman Esfandi, who plays the Jedi Ezra Bridger in the show, told Screen Rant of what he's excited about. "I'm having a flashback. So a lot of action, and I think everybody's gonna love it. Dave [Filoni] went nuts, and all of us were ready to follow suit of our fearless leader, and it's gonna be a lot of fun."

In a separate interview with the Thank the Maker podcast, Esfandi shared even more. "You guys will not believe how big it gets," he teased. "Dave just took the training wheels [off], it's like he took them all off for all of us and himself in some way. But obviously not himself, he's a legend. But, if you saw Rebels early, and you see Rebels towards the end, you see that he takes off training wheels. Clone Wars at the end. You're gutted. It's an adult drama… That similar transition where Dave started with kid shows, and then transitioned them into adults, as the kids do, not only who watch the show, but also the kids of the show.

"Ahsoka was a kid. Ezra was a kid. And they just have to grow up way too young," he continued. "But you watch that. And a lot of us who grew up, y'all's era, my era, the new era, we all had to grow up too young. There's war and everything going on all the time, trauma going all the time. We're all growing up too young, it feels like sometimes. It's impressive to see and I think Dave just does that really well. I think season 1 is almost like, 'Hey, Rebels season 5, here's some new characters, some set-up, some action, a lot of love, a lot of like, wow, oh my god.' And then season two is like guns blazing."

Not much is known about Ahsoka season 2 just yet, but, thanks to Star Wars Celebration 2025, we do know that Hayden Christensen will return as Anakin Skywalker, Grand Admiral Thrawn and Admiral Ackbar will go head to head, there will be battles across two galaxies, and Rory McCann is officially taking over the role of Baylan Skoll from the late Ray Stevenson.

Marvel has switched up its upcoming releases, and Wonder Man season 2 is one of the major casualties. Months after a second season was confirmed, the Disney Plus show is no longer moving forward.

Star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has now responded to the news in a statement on Instagram, thanking fans for following the show. He wrote: "Word just dropped that Wonder Man won't be coming back for Season 2. (And if you don't knowww, now ya knoww!) That's life, right? Everything will shake out."

The Watchmen star continued: "I wanted to say thank you to everybody who WATCHED the show, ENJOYED the show, and SHARED that they enjoyed the show in some way or other. The show worked. And that's my favorite thing about it. I can see in the messages I get saying how the show reminded some of you not to give up, and I feel it in the genuine love shared when I bump into some of you all during the day."

Wonder Man was a big hit with fans and critics alike. Rotten Tomatoes is usually a good indicator of how a show resonated with fans and the MCU series scored well, with a 91% critics score and 87% from fans. This makes it one of the highest-rated MCU projects in recent years, even topping Spider-Man: Brand New Day's glowing reviews.

The door is open for Marvel to bring Simon Williams back in the future, but right now Abdul-Mateen II shared his focus on the upcoming awards season. "I'm glad we got to be a part of something cool. Thank you for watching... And uhh... See you at the EMMYS." He's nominated for the Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series at the 2026 awards.

Wonder Man will not be returning for season 2, despite Marvel giving it the green light back in March.

The series, created by Spider-Man: Brand New Day director Destin Daniel Cretton and Hawkeye writer Andrew Guest, follows Simon Williams (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), a struggling actor with secret superpowers, as he auditions for the lead role in a superhero movie. He crosses paths with Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley), and the two strike up an unlikely (and rather chaotic) friendship. It also garnered around 550 million minutes watched in its first 10 days on Disney Plus, and was officially renewed for a second season back in March.

According to Variety, a writer's room was never opened despite the renewal. On a brighter note, the report also states that "the characters featured in the series could still appear in other Marvel projects in the future." The series currently sits at a Rotten Tomatoes score of 91%, and a rather impressive audience rating of 88%.

It took a bit for the show to get off the ground, as 2023 strikes delayed production and poorly received audience test screenings called for reshoots. Cretton and Guest even gushed about their potential season 2 plans just last month.

If you haven't seen Wonder Man, I recommend giving it a watch on Disney Plus. If you liked the different, refreshing creative direction that Prime Video took with Spider-Noir, you'll love the weirdness of Wonder Man. It's a bright spot on the Marvel timeline, and I'm sad to see it go.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power showrunner says we won't be seeing much of the Harfoots in season 3 of the hit Prime Video show.

"It was time for them to take a little bit more of a backseat," co-showrunner J.D. Payne said in the issue of Empire. "But I will also say: never count a Halfling out."

We last saw the Harfoots in The Rings of Power season 2 episode 8, when Nori and Poppy were rescued by the Stranger... who, in a surprise twist, turned out to be none other than Gandalf.

The new season, however, jumps forward five years and takes us straight into the War of the Elves while Sauron, now the Dark Lord, works on crafting the One Ring. Per the official synopsis: "Now, all the free peoples of Middle-earth – Dwarves, Elves, Men, and Wizards alike – must find a way to come together, in a race against time to prevent Sauron from achieving his goal of utter domination of all life…"

It's also worth noting that the Harfoots have received some pretty mixed reviews from fans, with some saying that their overly jolly, cartoonish vibe is tonally different from the rest of the show. With how high the stakes are in season 3, however, it's easy to see why we wouldn't have time for another big Harfoot storyline (especially now that Gandalf has officially been introduced into the series).

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 3 will cover several huge events in the canon, including focusing more on the "civil war brewing" in Numenor. As part of this storyline, the showrunners have confirmed that a major character will make an appearance: Elros.

Speaking to Empire magazine, Patrick McKay revealed that Elrond's brother Elros will appear in a flashback scene. He'll be played by Elrond star Robert Aramayo as well and it will reveal more about the founding of Numenor.

A half Elf, Elros was the first King of Numenor after choosing to live as a mortal after being given the choice by the Valor about which Kin he would rather belong to. He lived for 500 years, ruling Numenor for 410 of them, and founding the important Middle-earth kingdom.

Fun fact too, Elros' bloodline leads to Aragorn eventually, making him a hugely important part of the Lord of the Rings canon. The showrunners didn't reveal anything more about how Elros will be brought into the story, but Numenor's future is a hugely important storyline in the era that the Rings of Power is covering. We won't spoil anything here, but we expect it to play a big part in season 3 and the upcoming season 4 as well.

Aramayo's other role as Elrond will also be in a different place when the new season starts. He told Empire: "This season is an interesting one. Elrond's got his own little gaff now. He's got his own little place in Rivendell. I was really excited that the show was going to bring it in."

Many years ago, A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin promised fans could imprison him if the sixth book in the series, The Winds of Winter, hadn't arrived by a certain deadline – and that deadline is now six years in the past.

"As for finishing my book… I fear that New Zealand would distract me entirely too much. Best leave me here in Westeros for the nonce," Martin wrote on his Not a Blog page in May 2019. "But I tell you this – if I don't have THE WINDS OF WINTER in hand when I arrive in New Zealand for worldcon, you have here my formal written permission to imprison me in a small cabin on White Island, overlooking that lake of sulfuric acid, until I'm done. Just so long as the acrid fumes do not screw up my old DOS word processor, I'll be fine."

Worldcon was held from 29 July to 2 August 2020, however, thanks to COVID, it was switched from an in-person event to virtual.

Now, as you might have noticed, Martin's July/August deadline passed exactly six years ago, and there's still no Winds of Winter.

In fact, the wait for the sixth book has now surpassed the time it took to release all five books so far.

"I would hate that," Martin previously said of the prospect of giving up. "It would feel like a total failure to me. I want to finish. If I wound up doing everything in my head, this could be the longest book in the series."

But, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms showrunner Ira Parker has indicated that Martin is currently working on a fourth Dunk and Egg novella. So, here's hoping that arrives in the near future.

Good news Stephen King fans, it looks like we can put doubts over horror master Mike Flanagan's upcoming Carrie adaptation firmly to bed, as the show has earned extremely positive reviews from a select number of critics who were able to see the series premiere over two months early.

"I saw the first two episodes of Carrie today, and any doubts I might’ve had vanished just a few minutes in," said Slash Film's Bill Bria. "Mike Flanagan is working his adaptation magic once again. Summer H. Howell is heartbreakingly great as Carrie. Relevant, reverent, & surprising. Can’t wait for the rest!,"

Due to King's 1974 novel being on the shorter side, fans were concerned there wasn't enough material to stretch over eight episodes. However, it sounds as though Flanagan has it gold again. Mama's Geeky critic Tessa Smith added, "All I can say is WOW! This is not at all what you are expecting. It is absolutely incredible, and I am dying for the rest of the episodes. Summer H. Howell is phenomenal. Such a relevant exploration of this story."

Then, when the trailer arrived at SDCC 2026, many viewers didn't know what to make if the modern setting. But, Discussing Film's Tyler Taing stated that the modernization of the story works in its favour. "It’s a big departure for both the source material and Flanagan’s reputation as the keymaster of King’s stories. It’s a true modernization focusing on teenage anxieties and the cycle of violence in our digital age."

"Flanagan is aware many people hold this story near and dear to their hearts," added Taing. "But I find his motivation to peer at today’s issues through the lens of these characters really compelling even if these choices might be controversial. I’m definitely seated for the rest!"

The upcoming series is the fourth Carrie adaptation, following the original 1976 movie, and the 2002 and 2013 movies. The show is created, written, and showrun by Flanagan, with King himself on board as executive producer.

Alongside Summer Howell as Carrie, the show also stars Samantha Sloyan, Siena Agudong, Alison Thornton, Joel Oulette, Josie Totah, Arthur Conti, Thalia Dudek, Amber Midthunder, and Matthew Lillard.

A new House of the Dragon character who just killed off a major player in the Dance of Dragons has never actually been introduced to the audience.

Warning, the following contains spoilers for House of the Dragon season 3, episode 6!

In the latest episode, Criston Cole is ambushed by Team Black, and his request to go out in a blaze of glory is denied. He is instead shot dead with three arrows – though, the mysterious figure who killed him is actually a mystery to everyone watching along.

Book readers might recognize her as Alysanne Blackwood, AKA Black Aly, though her name hasn't been spoken on the show, and she's only really been in the background until now. She also hasn't actually spoken yet, apart from singing two lines of a song in episode 2 (as pointed out in a now-removed Reddit post).

Still, there are two episodes of House of the Dragon season 3 left, so there's plenty of time for Black Aly to get her proper introduction. After all, now we know her face.

As we get closer to the end of season 3, it looks like Rhaenyra could be in trouble – she cut her finger on the Iron Throne, Aemond Targaryen and Alys Rivers have formed an unusual alliance, and Ormund Hightower has declared Daeron Targaryen the rightful king.

"I think a lot of Daeron's experience through that episode and the upcoming episodes, without spoiling anything, is just, when's the breaking point?" Daeron actor Benjamin Evan Ainsworth told us in a recent interview. "He's held a tremendous amount of tension and tremendous amount of patience with Ormund, and now with a figure like Gwayne around, and with his dragon Tessarion, who he has this deep affection and friendship with, who he hasn't been able to see, who has been in the Sept tied up, and so, when is it too much?"

With her starmaking days as Max in Netflix sci-fi series Stranger Things behind her, Sadie Sink is forging a new path as part of the MCU in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

There have been plenty of early whispers that she is playing a character with ties to the X-Men, including Rachel Summers and Jean Grey. It's the latter that has garnered most buzz, and has led to one Marvel fan spotting an astonishing connection between Max and Jean Grey.

As you can see below, the red track jacket that Max first wore in Stranger Things season 2 bears a striking, uncanny resemblance to the outfit worn by Jean Grey during her comic origin story, as depicted in 2008's X-Men Origins: Jean Grey.

Just a coincidence? Almost certainly. Still, the mystery of exactly who Sadie Sink is playing in the fourth MCU Spider-Man movie isn't dying down. That's only been further intensified by a spoiler snafu at the Brand New Day world premiere – one which may have ruined her character's identity (click through at your own risk).

No matter who Sink is playing, fans can rest easy knowing that they're in for, potentially, one of the best Spider-Man movies of all time. Early Brand New Day reactions describe it as a "mini Avengers film" with Sink herself being described as "perfect."

Spider-Man: Brand New Day, starring Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, and Jon Bernthal, swings into cinemas on July 29 in the UK and July 31 in the US.

Warhammer 40K's small-screen expansion got some big updates in the new annual report from Games Workshop CEO Kevin Rountree. First up, the upcoming Warhammer 40K TV series has enlisted the help of horror maestro Mike Flanagan, who was behind Netflix's Haunting of Hill House and the script for the upcoming Clayface.

Rountree confirmed he has completed "initial outlines" and "should soon be moving on to script". Henry Cavill and Vertigo are still involved, but the CEO makes clear that this will not be a quick process. "This is a long-term partnership with Amazon – and these adaptations will take years to bring successfully to market," he added, referring to "films and television series" that they're working on.

Another detail revealed in the annual report is that there is a Warhammer 40K animated series on the way. This will feature Space Marines – Deathwatch and is being written by Masters of the Air screenwriter John Orloff. No more revealed on that but it seems the Warhammer universe is taking its expansion onto the small screen seriously.

They will also have an episode in Amazon's Secret Level season 2, which will feature a story set in the Age of Signmar universe.

It's all quite a lot of information to take in from Games Workshop but it's reassuring to hear things are moving on the live-action series and beyond.

Cavill first announced the partnership with the company more than three years ago. "Together, we've been sifting through the plethora of incredible characters and poring over old tomes and texts," Cavill wrote on Instagram at the time. "Our combined efforts have led us to a fantastic place to start our Universe, which has been agreed upon by those up on high at both Amazon and Games Workshop. That starting place shall, for now, remain a secret."

Showrunner Silka Luisa says Amazon's Prime Video show Blade Runner 2099 is only getting one eight-episode season because the upcoming limited series tells "a complete story."

"It was always considered as a limited series," Luisa told Collider. "Part of making the transition from film to TV is a really big jump for something that’s as cinematic as Blade Runner, and so, in that sense, it was really important to us that we told a story that, in a way, is like a movie in the sense that there's a beginning, there's a middle, and there’s an end. So we went into it with Alcon, with all of our producing partners, knowing we really want to tell a complete story. Eight episodes... I mean, eight's my lucky number, that’s the number I would have picked, but it felt like the right amount for the story we were planning on telling."

The new series takes place 50 years after Blade Runner 2049, and it's a pretty bleak future. There's a replicant uprising, the war has happened, and the humans have lost. "The replicants are now the power brokers of the city. And humans are the second-class citizens," Luisa explained. The tagline is appropriately dystopian: "Welcome to a future you no longer control." Hunter Schafer stars as a human named Cora who encounters Olwen (Michelle Yeoh), a replicant at the end of her life.

And if you're wondering how involved Ridley Scott is with the show... let's just say the answer is very. Luisa let slip during San Diego Comic-Con that she got to sit down with Scott one-on-one to work on the show, and that he "shepherded" her during the process. This is exciting, especially considering the fact that he's expressed regret in not directing Blade Runner 2049.

Hideo Kojima is no stranger to a cameo or two, having appeared in everything from the Japanese dub of Zootopia 2 to the streets of Night City in Cyberpunk 2077. And that's without mentioning the several times he's broken the fourth wall by appearing in one of his own titles.

But good luck trying to recognize the Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding developer in his latest on-screen outing.

Kojima turned up in the latest episode of Vivant, a Japanese crime drama, as the Commissioner General of the National Police Agency.

As you can see below, however, Kojima – sans glasses and beard – isn't exactly noticeable at first glance.

Explaining why he looks so different, Kojima took to Twitter to explain that CGI was used to tweak his appearance, mostly because he looked too young for such a senior role (despite being 62 years old), as well as the ongoing stigma around members of authority having facial hair in Japanese society.

Kojima wrote, "I took off my glasses, slicked my hair back, put on the costume, and gave it a shot, but as the Commissioner General of the National Police Agency, it was deemed 'too young' and 'no precedent for a [beard],' so it was adjusted with CG."

Away from lighting up the screen, Kojima – one year on from the release of Death Stranding 2 – is hard at work at multiple new games.

The upcoming Hideo Kojima games include O.D., which stars Sophia Lillis and Hunter Schafer, and PS5 title Physint.

As House of the Dragon season 3 continues, a surprise character is emerging as a new fan favorite.

The following contains spoilers for House of the Dragon season 3, episode 6, so turn back now if you're not up to date!

In the latest episode, Gwayne Hightower reaches Tumbleton after abandoning Criston Cole in the previous installment (with perfect timing, too, considering Criston meets his unceremonious death in the opening minutes of the new episode).

At Tumbleton, Gwayne reunites with his nephew Daeron Targaryen, and it's quickly clear that they have a much closer – and healthier – relationship than Daeron and Ormund Hightower. Plus, Gwayne thwarts an assassination attempt on Daeron (after enduring plenty of insulting comments from Ormund).

"Gwayne has become one of my favorites, I'm so glad he left Cole's side when he did," says one fan on Reddit.

"Him talking in the hallway with Daeron was heartbreaking," says someone else. "For all that people complain about 'filler,' I love this character development."

"Daeron and Gwayne having instant familial chemistry is the mark of really good acting by both of them. They haven't been on screen together yet but the characters have a long history and I definitely felt that in their scene together," is another fan's take.

"Gwayne literally took no shit from Ormund. He wasn't afraid of him or his tantrums, he spoke the truth at his face and really kept his patience with Ormund-the-man-baby," says another fan. "Gwayne has been a treat since the first episode he appeared and I am glad the writing has been consistent about his character."

"Yeah I really disliked him when he first appeared in the show and now he's one of my favorites. A tribute to his actor," is another person's thoughts.

"Yes, he definitely came off as an arrogant ass at first, with the way he spoke down to Criston. You can see how the realities of war really broke down that kind of thinking. In front of dragons, they are all equally and simply men. Great character development," says another person.

"Gwayne is unexpectedly becoming the one person I'm keeping a tight prayer circle for during the Dance alongside Helaena," says another fan.

"Gwayne is probably my favourite character from Team Green. Hoping he survives, however unlikely it seems," agrees someone else.

Gwayne Hightower dies in the fall of King's Landing in the book, which means his future on the show is a complete unknown. Here's hoping he makes it…

"I think they're both parental figures, Gwayne and Ormund, and Gwayne is more brotherly, and Ormund is more domineering, and so we see a different kind of love and a different side of Daeron comes out when he's with Gwayne," Daeron actor Benjamin Evan Ainsworth told GamesRadar+ recently.

"Something more transparent, something more true to who he is as a person, and almost this frustration that comes from just this weight that he's been holding of being around Ormund, having to be very calculated about what he says, what he does, when he does it, because he knows that Ormund has this rage that could be unleashed at any moment," he continued. "And Gwayne is someone that he's been able to talk to, but I think the difference being, he's come back war hardened and out the fight, and usually he's his person [Daeron] can confide with.

"And I think just playing those different relationships and being able to explore the different sides of Daeron with Freddie Fox, but then also with James [Norton], has been really fun."

Even though most viewers going into the new adaptation will already know how Stephen King's Carrie goes, the first trailer for the upcoming Prime TV show gives a little too much away. However, one fan thinks they know why that may be.

"What if this is a 'Scott Pilgrim Takes Off' kind of adaptation where the entire plot of Carrie happens in episode one, and then it becomes about the aftermath?" said the fan on Twitter.

The first trailer, which you can see below, dropped this weekend at SDCC 2026, introducing fans to the modern version of the 1974 novel, with smartphones and all. However, to say this is the first trailer for a show that is set to release later this fall, it sure does show a lot, from the pivotal bathroom scene to Carrie's bloody prom dress.

The fan's theory does make sense. When the show was first announced, many King fans thought the story wouldn't be enough for a series, as the novel is on the shorter side by the author's standards, and fits feature length just fine. It also doesn't make sense for showrunner Mike Flanagan, best known for his horror shows The Haunting of Hill House, Bly Manor, and more, to let the cat out of the bag so early.

However, Flanagan may use the eight-episode series to explore Carrie's mental state, and the full effect that both bullying and living with an overbearing mother can have on a teen. As per Prime Video, "the series expands King’s cultural landmark — deepening its characters and tensions, and following the small, everyday choices that build toward a single, shattering night, in a gripping, deeply human story about kindness versus cruelty, and whether we’re witnessing the making of a hero, a monster, or something far more complicated."

We already know that the series will stray from the original tale in some ways, including when it is set. Unlike the novel or the original Carrie movie, Flanagan's Carrie White will have to deal with the pressures of social media on top of everything else. Nevertheless, horror fans should worry not, as King himself is on board as producer.

The show stars Summer Howell as Carrie, alongside Samantha Sloyan, Siena Agudong, Alison Thornton, Joel Oulette, Josie Totah, Arthur Conti, Thalia Dudek, Amber Midthunder, and Matthew Lillard.

In the new episode, Ser Criston Cole is unceremoniously killed off in unexpected fashion in the opening scenes. Now, book readers might have seen this coming thanks to some ironic foreshadowing in the last episode, but, otherwise, it's a shocking moment.

Criston is ambushed by soldiers from Team Black who are playing dead, and then, after challenging his opponents to a duel, he is shot dead by arrows.

The kingsguard knight hasn't exactly been a fan favorite over the years, which means, now that he's gone, House of the Dragon fans are celebrating.

"Dude had so much plot armor there for awhile, I'm glad they just dropped the axe like that," says one fan on Reddit, commenting on a post titled "fucking finally."

"I loved that he tried to challenge an old man and a young boy to hand-to-hand combat in a last ditch Hail Mary at dying honorably in battle and they were just like haha no man, you're defeated already. Thank god they didn't take him up on his ridiculous demand and just shot him dead instead smh," says another person.

Someone else has noticed some poetic justice in the death, too. "Funny that he went the same way as Jace, right down to the number of arrows," they say. Jacaerys was killed in the Battle of the Gullet.

"Good job Criston Cole, you got your wish. Good riddance," says another fan, while another says: "Thank god he's FINALLY dead."

It might be hard to believe, but House of the Dragon season 3 only has two episodes remaining.

A big focus of the season has been Tumbleton, which is starting to feel like something of a powder keg. Spoilers for episode 6 follow.

Ormund Hightower is undermining Rhaenyra's authority in King's Landing with his attacks on the gold cloaks and his claims that Daeron Targaryen is the new rightful king, while the dragonseeds Ulf the White and Hugh Hammer lurk outside the town – and, in episode 6, assassins even come for Daeron, but are foiled by Gwayne Hightower.

GamesRadar+ caught up with Daeron actor Benjamin Evan Ainsworth on Zoom to talk about the show, and we asked what's coming up for Tumbleton as the finale gets closer.

"I think every episode, at least for my character, the stakes are raising tremendously," he says. "We go from, I suppose, being a squirely figure in Ormund's life, and then being posed as a king, and then having a coin with his face made on it, to then an assassination attempt in this episode. And I think if you follow that trajectory, Tumbleton's looking like a very hostile place.

"And so, yeah, I think a lot of Daeron's experience through that episode and the upcoming episodes, without spoiling anything, is just, when's the breaking point? He's held a tremendous amount of tension and tremendous amount of patience with Ormund, and now with a figure like Gwayne around, and with his dragon Tessarion, who he has this deep affection and friendship with, who he hasn't been able to see, who has been in the Sept tied up, and so, when is it too much?

"And I think a decision of who he wants to be, and I guess leading with his moral compass, or not, and which direction to go through, I think are the questions in his head at the end of episode six," Ainsworth shares. "You'll have to wait and see how that unfolds."

So far in House of the Dragon season 3, young prince Daeron Targaryen has been under the thumb of his guardian Ormund Hightower out in Tumbleton.

But, in the latest episode of the Game of Thrones prequel, the situation gets slightly more complicated. Daeron's uncle Gwayne Hightower comes to Tumbleton after breaking away from Criston Cole, and it's immediately clear that Gwayne is far more of a positive influence on Daeron than the authoritarian Ormund. Spoilers for episode 6 follow.

"So far, any scene with Daeron has had Ormund Hightower within it, which I think says a lot about their relationship, really," Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, who plays Daeron, tells GamesRadar+ when we meet over Zoom.

"There's not a lot of space, and, despite Daeron being an isolated character – he was sent away from his family, away from the politics, but also away from his mother, and all that comes with that, for better or for worse – he's also cramped within this position. The image of Tessarion chained up in Tumbleton's Sept feels like a symbol that makes sense for Daeron's internal experience with Ormond.

"And I think they're both parental figures, Gwayne and Ormund, and Gwayne is more brotherly, and Ormund is more domineering, and so we see a different kind of love and a different side of Daeron comes out when he's with Gwayne," Ainsworth continues. "Something more transparent, something more true to who he is as a person, and almost this frustration that comes from just this weight that he's been holding of being around Ormund, having to be very calculated about what he says, what he does, when he does it, because he knows that Ormund has this rage that could be unleashed at any moment. And Gwayne is someone that he's been able to talk to, but I think the difference being, he's come back war hardened and out the fight, and usually he's his person [Daeron] can confide with.

"And I think just playing those different relationships and being able to explore the different sides of Daeron with Freddie Fox, but then also with James [Norton], has been really fun."

Perhaps the most horrifying moment in Daeron and Ormund's relationship so far came when Ormund forced Daeron to execute an innocent man in Tumbleton, down in the secrecy of the Sept.

"It's manipulation at its worst," Ainsworth says of the moment. "And I think there's a certain part of Daeron which is aware of it and has seen it. He is aware of when things are going wrong, we saw that when he sends away the other squire, so he doesn't get hurt by the rage that's about to come out in episode four. I think, as twisted as it seems, it's something [Daeron] feels like he has to do to get out of this situation.

"There's no other option he feels in that moment, but also, there's almost like a pride which Ormund has with him afterwards, which he kind of yearns for as a character," Ainsworth explains. "And it demonstrates how twisted and fractured their relationship is, that Daeron is willing to do what Ormund wants because he doesn't have that loving figure in his life, and so looks for that through Ormund.

"It was really fun to play, but also, I guess, gut-wrenching to then watch back from an outside perspective. But, yeah, it's really lovely to work with people like James Norton because they give you something really specific every single take, and it's different every take, and so you can almost just follow them on the ride and see how the take unfolds," Ainsworth says. "And sometimes it would end in a moment of, almost, love at the end of of that scene, of like a shared affection that [Ormund] was proud of what I had done, and I know what I have done is terrible – and I wouldn't do it – but the pride he feels is shining onto Daeron. So, yeah, it's definitely a turning point. It's when he figures out he's going to be styled as king, which then starts a barrage of new questions of who he is and who he wants to be."

According to Prime Video, Alan Ritchson's Jack Reacher is back and bigger than ever in Reacher season 4, which is just as well, as the first trailer shown at San Diego Comic-Con gives us a glimpse at his most dangerous mission yet.

The trailer, which you can watch above, opens with Alan Ritchson's ex-soldier sitting inside a subway car when he witnesses a woman end her own life. The police pick up Reacher for the crime, but soon after escaping their clutches, Reacher sets out to solve the death, which he thinks was suspicious. Reacher meets up with the woman's brother (Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette), who is adamant she didn't kill herself. From then on, the two are pulled into a dangerous web of criminal activity.

At one point, Reacher is told to walk away. But, of course, our favourite lucky hero does no such thing, as he is prepared to beat down as many bad guys as it takes to get to the bottom of the murder. However, it looks like season 4's villain has connections in high places, as Reacher's dedication to cracking the case quickly makes him a wanted man. Plus, it wouldn't be a season of Reacher without a romantic subplot thrown in, and it looks like Reacher will hook up with a young journalist played by AGNEZ MO.

The action series' fourth outing adapts author Lee Child's thirteenth Jack Reacher book, Home Tomorrow. The official synopsis from Prime Video reads, "When a chance encounter with a distraught stranger on a subway goes horribly wrong, Jack Reacher is drawn into a complex and deadly game that pits him against ruthless foes from the highest echelons of power."

Also at Comic Con, the Reacher and Neagley panel revealed the first trailer for the upcoming Frances Neagley spin-off. The trailer, which has since been shared by Prime Video on YouTube, gives us a glimpse of Reacher's once right-hand woman as she and her PI squad take down criminals connected to the death of her beloved friend.

At San Diego Comic-Con, Apple TV has unveiled the first trailer for its adaptation of William Gibson's sci-fi novel Neuromancer, which stars Callum Turner and Briana Middleton.

In the trailer, which you can watch above, Turner plays a hacker named Case. The show looks like a trippy, tense, tech-focused ride, and the trailer is very slick and stylish. While it doesn't give much away, Apple promises the show "follows a damaged, top-rung super-hacker named Case (Turner) who is thrust into a web of digital espionage and high-stakes crime with his partner Molly (Middleton), a razor-girl assassin, as they pull off a heist on a corporate dynasty with untold secrets."

Gibson is a founder of the cyberpunk genre: Neuromancer was released in 1984, over 10 years before The Matrix arrived in 1999.

Along with Turner, the rest of the Neuromancer cast includes Mark Strong, Peter Sarsgaard, Joseph Lee, Clémence Poésy, Dane DeHaan, Max Irons, Emma Laird, Junia Rees, Jordan Kouamé, Marc Menchaca, André De Shields, and Isabella Pappas. Graham Roland and JD Dillard created the show, and Gibson is on board as an executive producer.

"Now, we've been building something special with Neuromancer, a world our dear William Gibson imagined in 1984," Turner said in a fittingly virtual appearance at SDCC. "He didn't just give us cyberspace, he helped define the entire cyberpunk genre. This is just your first access point. Stay sharp and enjoy the teaser, because you guys, you guys are the very first to see it."

The Marvel panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2026 featured a whole host of big surprises. Marking the studio's return to Hall H for the first time since 2024, the main focus was on upcoming movies. Marvel boss Kevin Feige took us through some of the major upcoming slate, announcing a Ghost Rider movie with Ryan Gosling and giving some big updates on Black Panther 3.

Avengers: Doomsday was the main focus though, and was given the most time. Attendees in Hall H were treated to some exclusive footage as we edge closer to the end of the Multiverse Saga. Not all of Marvel's upcoming slate was covered though with VisionQuest mentioned only briefly and Avengers: Secret Wars and the upcoming X-Men movie not getting a look in.

Below we get into all of the major announcements from Hall H, as they happened at the SDCC 2026 Marvel panel.

How to watch the Marvel SDCC 2026 panel

As we get closer to the panel's start, you'll likely be wondering how you can watch the Marvel SDCC 2026 panel. The short answer is, you can't. San Diego Comic-Con doesn't livestream their panels so you have to be in the room to be able to watch it as it happens.

Luckily for you, GamesRadar+ is in Hall H and we'll be keeping you updated every step of the way. Follow along here, as well as on our social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok) so you don't miss a moment.

Just a reminder too about timings: the panel begins at 5.30pm PDT. If you're on the east coast then that's 9.30pm and if you're in the UK then that's 1.30am. We expect it will last about an hour or so, depending on what's announced.

In terms of what we're expecting to be covered tonight in the Marvel panel, we don't yet have anything confirmed. Marvel has released no guests, no agenda, and Kevin Feige has been keeping tight-lipped. Speaking to Collider just last week, the Marvel Studios head said: "Listen, you probably know as good a tease as I do in terms of the fact that when we go to Hall H, it's for a reason, and it's to have some surprises and show a few things. It's our home away from home, Hall H, so I'm very excited to be heading back."

One thing we are expecting to have a big presence at SDCC this year is Avengers: Doomsday. If you'd asked us a week ago, we would have put good money that it would be in this panel when we'd finally see the full trailer. However, Marvel actually dropped that on Monday (read our Avengers: Doomsday trailer breakdown here)...

This means we're not expecting to see any more footage released widely, but that doesn't mean no news. The Russo Brothers will likely be there with Robert Downey Jr. and we might even get a scene shown exclusively in Hall H, which we'll share a description of with you.

Doomsday has already been appearing all around SDCC too, with new costumes being showcased and a special installation in the middle of town. Check out a closer look at Doctor Doom's costume below.

Avengers: Secret Wars is also about a year and a half out too – and we still know relatively little about it. We're not expecting to hear too much about the plot details given they're likely very dependent on what goes down in Doomsday, but we could hear some casting news. At the moment, Doomsday has a few big omissions, including Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and the Hulk. Could we get confirmation about their return?

What happened the last time Marvel were at San Diego Comic-Con?

It's been a few years since Marvel Studios has been at SDCC, but the last time they made quite an impact. After Deadpool & Wolverine got its own showcase on Friday night, Saturday night belonged to Marvel Studios' upcoming slate. The biggest surprise of the evening was the announcement that Robert Downey Jr. was returning to the MCU, not as Iron Man but as a new character: Doctor Doom.

He appeared on stage in a Doom mask to mark the occasion and subsequently surprised just about everyone. We were in Hall H when it happened and the atmosphere was electric. Here's a little recap of how that all went down…

Traditionally these Marvel panels have also focused on the upcoming slate. This means that VisionQuest, which is the conclusion to the WandaVision trilogy could also be a focus during the presentation. We've still not seen a trailer for the upcoming Disney Plus show, despite it showing behind closed doors at CinemaCon earlier this year. It's out on October 14 too so we're more than overdue a first look...

Another potential point of focus could be Daredevil: Born Again season 3. While it might not seem like the most exciting announcement for the Hall H slot, timing might be in its favor. The third season of the Disney Plus show has just finished filming and there have been a lot of leaks. Marvel might use the opportunity to announce some of the casting we already know about officially and there may even be some footage. We'll bring you updates as they happen with that.

Probably the most exciting potential announcements will be around the upcoming X-Men movie. Kevin Feige has made no secret that the next stage of the MCU will be all about mutants and director Jake Shrier is behind an upcoming reboot film. Currently, we don't know much at all about it, apart from that it won't be linked to any of the X-Men movies we've seen before. Screenwriter Lee Sung Jin told Deadline earlier this year that Feige "just wants to take a big swing and start anew, not be beholden to any of the movies that have come before."

Given that it's going to be so key to the future of the MCU, we might get some casting announcements. Rumors have been swirling around everyone from Adam Driver to Bill Skarsgård, and then there's the persistent speculation that Sadie Sink will debut as Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Watch this space...

30 minutes to go!

We're now just 30 minutes away from the start of the Marvel panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2026! GamesRadar+ is seated in Hall H and ready to bring you the news as it happens.

Just a reminder on timings. The panel kicks off at 5.30pm PDT, local time. This means it starts at 8.30pm EDT and 1.30am BST. We're expecting it to last about an hour as Marvel tends to keep a pretty tight ship with their SDCC appearances.

We're seated in Hall H now ahead of the panel's start in 15 minutes, but the panel before is currently still happening. Just a reminder too, the Marvel SDCC 2026 panel will not be live-streamed. Follow along with us here for everything that happens as well as on our Twitter.

The Marvel Studios panel is almost certainly starting late as the panel before is still overrunning. There's no word yet on when it will begin but we're expecting a quick change around when the previous panel stops.

Some outlets are reporting that the delay may be as long as 15/20 minutes. Hold on tight, folks...

The Marvel SDCC 2026 panel has started

Almost 30 minutes later, the Marvel 2026 panel has begun. Kevin Feige is now on stage to kick off the announcements. He's wearing a Doomsday hat...

Kevin Feige has announced that they'll only be showcasing movies at the panel today. So no VisionQuest or Daredevil: Born Again then...

Avengers: Endgame Encore

First up on the agenda is Avengers: Endgame Encore, which will be heading to theaters on September 25, 2026. Hall H was treated to a trailer for the rerelease as it was confirmed it will feature an exclusive look at Doomsday.

Ryan Gosling will play Ghost Rider in the MCU

Some big news to kick off the Marvel panel. Ryan Gosling will play Ghost Rider in the MCU in a new movie directed by Shawn Levy. Gosling is on stage now.

The movie will come out in 2028, just a year after Gosling and Levy's Star Wars movie, Starfighter. This will also mark Levy's MCU comeback after directing Deadpool & Wolverine.

Here's a look at Gosling on stage, who seems just as surprised as we are by the news.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day

We may be just a week out from the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day but that doesn't mean we can't still have new footage. Punisher star Jon Bernthal is on stage to introduce a new clip from the Marvel movie, featuring Spider-Man fighting the Hulk.

Avengers: Doomsday

The Russo brothers are now taking the Hall H stage to share some news from the upcoming release of Avengers: Doomsday. They've also brought out some of the cast of the new movie.

"Two years ago, we asked you to trust us when we tasked RDJ with doing a 180 from going from playing the greatest hero of all time to playing the greatest doll, and we knew we were going to have to assemble the greatest hero of the past ever to try to stop him," they told the crowd. "You'll see on December 18th, whether it can or not."

Robert Downey Jr. is now on stage and he's taking a selfie with all everyone dressed up as Doom in Hall H.

That's not all either. It's been confirmed that Hayley Atwell will be returning as Peggy Carter in Doomsday, opposite Chris Evans' Steve Rogers.

Ryan Reynolds has appeared in Hall H as Deadpool, but not the one we know and love. This version of the character is blue/grey... Maybe we'll find out soon why Thor was crying? Reynolds asks the cast and Paul Rudd replies: "He’s a Wrexham fan". Ouch...

It's not yet clear if he'll be in Doomsday though.

Pedro Pascal has also confirmed that Reed Richards and Victor Von Doom have history in Doomsday...

Hall H is now being treated to some exclusive footage from Avengers: Doomsday. This shows the rivalry between Doom and Richards in a clip narrated by Sue Storm. "Victor did you do this?" Reed asks him. "All of you have lived stolen lives and now you must give them back," Doom responds. Elsewhere we hear Sue say, "I knew he was lost, I didn’t realise he was broken." The footage ends with Doom bringing an army of Sentinels back to life.

Black Panther 3

Up next is Black Panther 3, which will be released in theaters on December 15, 2028. Check out the official logo below.

The new Black Panther has also been revealed. He'll be played by Alien: Romulus star David Jonsson, who is the son of T’Challa now grown up. Jonsson appeared on stage with the announcement.

"I want to say thank you so much," Jonsson told the crowd. "Thank you, Ryan. Thank you, Kevin. Thank you to this amazing family that I have the honor and the privilege of blessing to join. I actually don't want to say too much because I want to let this screen do the talking. But believe me, the honor is entirely mine. Thank you."

And that's it! No X-Men after all... and no reveals from Secret Wars.

Still, plenty of big announcements from the Marvel SDCC 2026 panel, including the introduction of Ryan Gosling to the MCU and the casting of David Jonsson in Black Panther 3.

Alongside the panel, Marvel also released a very cool new poster for Avengers: Doomsday. This shows our best look at Victor Von Doom's costume. Check it out below.

The Rings of Power season 3 will be jumping ahead five years when the Lord of the Rings show returns to Prime Video. According to co-showrunner Patrick McKay, this is actually an "advantage" for them and gives the show "a jolt of adrenaline".

Speaking at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, McKay said: "I mean, it's pure advantage. We love the idea that even if you've maybe never seen the first two seasons, season 3 is a great place to jump in because the stories are starting in a brand new spot. You know, if you're a fan who loved the first two seasons, that's wonderful, and now you can see where everybody has gone in five years."

He added at the roundtable attended by GamesRadar+: "This character is now friends with this character, and they've moved over here, and oh my gosh, the war seems to have been gone for a while here. An entire realm got built in Rivendell, an entire tower got built in Barad-dûr, in Mordor. So it's an opportunity to just kind of give your storytelling a jolt of adrenaline. Hit the ground running from the first minute of season 3 and hopefully never let up."

The Rings of Power season 3 trailer was released at San Diego Comic-Con and showed Sauron heading to Mordor to create the One Ring. It also introduced a whole new host of characters, including Jamie Campbell Bower's Celeborn, Galadriel's long-lost husband.

The new season begins on Prime Video on November 11 with a four-episode drop. Two episodes will then air weekly until the finale, which marks a very different approach to the show's previous release schedule. However, it does mean that it will be wrapped up by the time that Blade Runner 2099 begins on Prime Video on November 25.

Stranger Things star Jamie Campbell Bower is playing a notorious Lord of the Rings character in The Rings of Power season 3 as he steps into Celeborn's shoes. The Elven warrior is Galadriel's husband, but he has been absent from the story so far.

It's now been confirmed that this will be addressed in the new season through an "epic" flashback. Speaking at San Diego Comic-Con, co-showrunner Patrick McKay shared the insight, explaining how we'll see a new side to Galadriel in the upcoming third season.

"You've gotten to know Galadriel as one character over multiple seasons, but whenever there's anyone who's really important in your life, that person brings out other qualities in you, and you see different things when someone is with someone that they really love," he tells GamesRadar+ and other press at a roundtable. "So bringing in Celeborn, you start to see this whole other part of Galadriel."

McKay added: "We're going to go back to the First Age when they first met in this really romantic, beautiful, epic scene. And then we're going to understand what has happened to her and why she has had this descent that she has had in the time since he's been gone. And then getting to see him come back again, you'll see again a totally different part of her begin to come out and flourish."

We do see a glimpse of this scene in The Rings of Power season 3 trailer, as Galadriel and Celeborn dance in a forest, surrounded by golden lights. The pair have been separated for hundreds of years when he returns in season 3 and he must join the fight quickly against the rising darkness.

One of the biggest ongoing mysteries in The Rings of Power will be answered early on in season 3. The identity of Ciarán Hinds' Dark Wizard will be revealed in the new season, showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay have confirmed.

When asked by GamesRadar+ at San Diego Comic-Con 2026 whether we'll be finding out his identity, Payne promised: "We are! That's all we can say." Then his co-showrunner McKay gave an even more intriguing tease: "You'll find out, and you might find out sooner than you think."

It seems like we won't be waiting too long then into The Rings of Power season 3 to finally have some answers. While they didn't reveal the exact timings, the first four episodes will be released at once on November 11 so we're guessing there may be some big reveals in there.

There has been a lot of speculation about who the Dark Wizard really is, with some even wondering if he was Gandalf before the Stranger's big reveal. However, we know who he definitely isn't: Lord of the Rings character Saruman. .

"Well, I wonder if we can make news on this one. We can say definitively he is not Saruman. Definitively, 100% he is not," McKay told GamesRadar+ after season 2, while Payne teased: "I think we can say we do know who he is."

Elsewhere during our conversation at SDCC, the showrunners also teased their plans for season 3 – and where it stands in their timeline. "We always thought of this as one, five-season story that aspires to the epic, or even the mega-epic," McKay explained at a roundtable attended by GamesRadar+. "And when you watch any story or read any book at first you're not sure who's who. Is that a bad guy is that a good guy, what's their agenda, what's that person's real identity sometimes? That's always how things unfold."

He continued: "As we thought about the first two seasons, we thought about them as the first act of a huge three-act story, and sometimes in the first act you don't know who everybody is yet. But now the joy of a third season is actually, everybody's out in the open. The masks are off. We have full metal, evil dark lord Sauron. We have Gandalf appearing much more similar to his iconic, third age, novelistic appearance. And those are just the gifts that keep on giving as storytellers."

Although DC Studios is choosing not to promote its stack of upcoming movies at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, the Lanterns panel has given us another look at what's to come from DCU Chapter One on the small screen with a brand new trailer.

The new clip opens with Hal Jordan rudely waking his trainee, Jon Stewart, giving us a taste of the duo's Training Day-style relationship. As the pair uncover a string of crimes, Hal becomes convinced that aliens are to blame. Well, ol' Hal is correct, as later in the trailer we find out that extraterrestrial antagonists known as Manhunters, which "can take the shape of any species," are at large on Earth.

Elsewhere in the trailer, it seems as though there is quite a bit of friction between Hal Jordan and Jon Stewart, as Jon seemingly wants rid of his mentor. "The Ring has always been mind. Jordan is just keeping it warm," he says. We also get a glimpse at Nathan Fillion's Superman character Guy Gardner, and what looks to be Green Lantern's nemesis Sinestro, who you can see below.

Starring Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre as intergalactic cops and members of the Lantern Corps, Hal Jordan and new recruit Jon Stewart, Lanterns follows the duo as they investigate a murder in the American heartland, but in the process are drawn into a dark mystery.

Unlike the most recent DCU project to hit the screen, Supergirl, Lanterns is set on Earth. The show is set across two timelines, both in 2016 and in 2026, sometime after the events of Superman. But just like Supergirl, it looks like Lanterns will feed into Superman sequel Superman: Man of Tomorrow, as it has cast Jon Stewart actor Aaron Pierre.

Lanterns, which has been described as a buddy cop show meets True Detective, is the third TV show to come from Gunn's DCU, following on from Creature Commandos and Peacemaker season 2, and is the fifth project overall. However, the HBO show has a bit of pressure on it not only for being the only DC series released this year, but after Supergirl flopped at the box office, DC Studios needs Lanterns to be a hit.

Lanterns is co-created and co-written by Lost's Damon Lindelof, Criminal Minds' Chris Mundy, and comic book writer Tom King. DC heads James Gunn and Peter Safran are on board as producers. The show also stars Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, Laura Linney, Jason Ritter, and Ulrich Thomsen.

Blade Runner 2099 is almost here, and thanks to a bunch of recent news that just dropped during San Diego Comic-Con, excitement for the next outing in the sci-fi series is at an all-time high.

While Blade Runner started with Ridley Scott's 1982 movie, the upcoming show is a sequel to the second flick in the franchise, Denis Villeneuve's Blade Runner 2049. That movie came out all the way back in 2017, so yeah, it has been a good long bit of waiting for the follow-up for all of us Relpicant fans. Blade Runner 2099 was also announced all the way back in 2021, so seeing a bunch of recent updates arrive as part of the SDCC 2026 schedule was a welcome surprise, and I've gathered all the new details and information you need to know right here.

From the Blade Runner 2099 release date, plot details, casting news, and more, here is a complete breakdown on everything that you need to know about Amazon Prime's upcoming Blade Runner 2099 TV show.

Blade Runner 2099 release date speculation

Blade Runner 2099 will be released on Prime Video on November 25, 2026.

The news was revealed at San Diego Comic-Con 2026. During the panel, Amazon also mentioned Rings of Power season 3 (which also releases in November 2026), so it seems like the streamer was keen to highlight a big fall schedule.

Blade Runner 2099 plot

The official plot has been released for Blade Runner 2099, which is set 50 years after the previous movie. "Welcome to a future we no longer control," reads the tagline which teases how much the world has changed since that film. A war has taken place between the humans and the replicants, and the humans have lost.

Now the replicants are in charge and the humans are the second-class citizens. Hunter Schafer plays Cora, a human, opposite Michelle Yeoh's replicant Blade Runner named Olwen. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner confirmed that Cora and Olwen will be working together in the new show.

"Hunter is playing a human who is a fugitive and has spent her life running from Blade Runners," Silka Luisa said. "And now has to pretend to be one. In this struggle to survive and just trying to live day-to-day, she’s actually lost her humanity. So she’s a human who has lost her humanity. And the question for the series is: Once you’ve lost her humanity, can you regain it?"

Olwen and Cora will be working together and investigating the missing rogue replicants — and this being Blade Runner, don’t expect any of the answers they find to be simple or expected.

Is there a Blade Runner 2099 trailer

The trailer for Blade Runner 2099 came our way during San Diego Comic-Con 2026, during the Prime Video panel. You can watch it for yourself above.

In the clip, we get our first look at futuristic LA as well as Schafer and Yeoh in action. So far, it looks stunning. It shows a grim post-war world where the humans are at the mercy of the replicants. I'm excited to see even more teasers in the future. Hopefully, we get more story details in the next trailer, but for now, the sci-fi vibe has been perfectly captured here.

Currently, there have been quite a few Blade Runner 2099 casting announcements, the two biggest being Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer as the two leading roles. However, many character details and names are undisclosed right now. I'm still waiting to see if we get any familiar characters being recast or mentioned, so watch this space.

Is Blade Runner 2099 connected to the Blade Runner movies?

Good news: Blade Runner 2099 is indeed connected to the two Blade Runner movies, taking place in the same universe and 50 years after the events of the 2017 movie, Blade Runner 2017.

This means that the Blade Runner 2049 ending is canon for the series, so I'd highly recommend giving that a rewatch before you dive in. I won't get into spoilers here, but that film does set up a lot of context around the state of humanity as well as how Replicants are treated. I'm sure that the series will give newcomers who haven't seen the films some kind of context, but for the full picture, watching the movies for yourself is likely going to be the best route.

Also, Ridley Scott is an executive producer on the series, so we can rest easy knowing that he'll likely make sure canon is followed.

Additionally, according to producer Andrew Kosove, the new series will have "connective tissue and character and storylines that relate to the first two movies," but you won't need to know them to enjoy it.

Speaking at SDCC, showrunner Silka Luisa also teased the difference between the previous movies and Blade Runner 2099. "2019 was dark and rainy. 2049 was snowy and cold," she said. "Our show is a rebirth. It's the rebirth of a city, it's a rebirth of all of our characters, and so to me that felt like it should be hot and sticky and chaotic, and that's where we got the idea for the 'sunshine noir,' and so you're you're seeing Blade Runner, Ridley's Blade Runner, but through the lens of hard sunlight and deep shadow where you still have neons, and hopefully that feels like it's both familiar but completely different."

Simon Pegg's Balrog will be "an intelligent, strategic, dangerous adversary" in The Rings of Power season 3.

Balrog, voiced by Pegg, was teased at the tail-end of The Rings of Power's second season, where the Mines of Moria – and King Durin's madness – uncovered the fiery creature lying in wait.

But whereas most Tolkien and Lord of the Rings fans may know him as the one who fought Gandalf in an epic duel, The Rings of Power's latest season will seemingly show a new side to the fearsome foe.

"So, creatures in Tolkien talk, full stop. And the Balrog is not just a monster; it's not a mindless beastie. This is an intelligent, strategic, dangerous adversary, and we think of him as a character," co-showrunner Patrick McKay teases at The Rings of Power's Hall H panel at SDCC 2026 – with GamesRadar+ in attendance.

"And every season, we want to show a different side of him, a different facet of him that you've never seen before. And we are crazy, stupid, or wild enough to imagine that this season he should have a scene with Sauron."

Perhaps teasing a spark that would soon become Sauron's meddling in Mount Doom, McKay adds. "I don't want to give away the game, but you know Balrogs know how to live in fire and be on fire and live. And if Sauron goes into a volcano to forge a ring, that might be a kind of dark magic that he would need to understand. He essentially goes to the Balrog to try to learn this power, and it also found a really cool opportunity to show another side of Sauron's character. Because Sauron is a Maiar, he's constantly interacting with people who are, in some ways, just a different class of being than him. The Balrog is the same class of being, so it's Maiar versus Maiar in this, and it's something that Sauron generally has to respect."

The first trailer for The Rings of Power season 3 is finally here, and it's sees Sauron crafting the One Ring to rule them all.

Beginning with Mount Doom, the trailer promises the most dramatic season yet as we see the Dark Lord begin the task, stating, "Now is the mightly hour come." Much of the first focuses on Sauron's journey to creating the One Ring as Middle-earth tries to battle the rising darkness. Elsewhere, we see Celeborn and Galadiel reunite, Gandalf warning about death to come, and epic battles on the way. "The shadow rises in Middle-earth, how would you like to rise with it?" Sauron asks.

The trailer dropped during San Diego Comic-Con 2026, and it wasn't the only thing revealed in the Lord of the Rings show's panel.

Excitingly, some major casting news also dropped. Eddie Marsan will play King Durin IV's older brother Thrain, Andrew Richardson will play Elendil's son and Isildur's brother Anarion, while Adam Young is Marnûkh, billed intriguingly as "a mysterious Orc who may not be what he seems."

Most excitingly of all, however, is the reveal that the Balrog will return, and it'll speak for the first time. And, it'll be voiced by none other than Simon Pegg.

The official synopsis for season 3 reads: "Middle-earth is at war. Five years have passed since the fall of Eregion. Sauron's armies have marched across the whole of the world, conquering all in their path. Only a few isolated pockets stand between the Dark Lord and total victory – Khazad-dûm, where the Dwarves are now sealed deep within their mountain halls, and the elven realms of Lindon and Rivendell, which are protected by their Three Rings. But deep in the land of Mordor, in his newly completed tower of Barad-dûr, the Dark Lord toils day and night, obsessed with harnessing a power that will bring the last of his enemies to their knees: One Ring to rule them all...

"Now, all the free peoples of Middle-earth – Dwarves, Elves, Men, and Wizards alike – must find a way to come together, in a race against time to prevent Sauron from achieving his goal of utter domination of all life…"

The Rings of Power season 3 arrives on Prime Video this November 11 with four episodes dropping at once. Then, episodes 5 and 6 arrive on November 18, and finally the remaining two episodes land on November 25.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power's Celeborn star says Sauron puts a real damper on his and Galadriel's reunion in season 3, suggesting he may use the relationship against the elves.

"The reunion between the two of them is deeply impactful, particularly for Celeborn. And I think, you know, with Galadriel, it's the memory, and the hope of their reunion has really been the thing that's been keeping him alive," said Celeborn star Jamie Campbell Bower at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, attended by GamesRadar+. "With this time and distance between them, they've got a lot to catch up on."

However, what should be a happy moment between Celeborn and Galadriel may turn sour, as Bower suggests Sauron may use the two's emotions against them. "Sauron, from my perspective, and as we know, he uses that which you hold most dear against you," added Bower, "that definitely creates some complications for Celeborn for sure."

Celeborn is finally joining The Rings of Power season 3 after being absent from seasons 1 and 2. The news broke just days before SDCC, but fans already had a feeling Bower would play the long-lost elf. In the Lord of the Rings franchise, Celeborn is Galadriel's husband, but in the series, they have been separated for hundreds of years. We have already seen Sauron manipulate Galadriel in order to get what he wants, so we wouldn't put it past him to somehow ruin her happiness this time around.

Sauron will truly be getting up to no good in season 3, as aside from meddling in Galadriel's relationship, we will finally see the Dark Lord forge the One Ring.

Also announced at the SDCC 2026 Prime Video panel, Gandalf star Daniel Weyman shed some light on what the wizard has been getting up to in the time jump between The Rings of Power season 2 and 3. After hanging out with Tom Bombadil, Weyman says, "I think we will agree-he has arrived in season three. He's in his power. He has agency. He's the Gandalf."

At SDCC 2026, some exciting new The Rings of Power season 3 news has been announced.

Along with a brand new trailer, three new cast members have been revealed.

Not only is the Balrog set to return, but it'll be voiced for the very first time, and Simon Pegg will be lending his vocal talents to the magical beast.

The Balrog lives in the Mines of Moria and claimed King Durin's life in season 2. Clearly, then, it's set to play a big role in season 3...

"This idea of longing and yearning is so pervasive in Tolkien's relationship with Edith [his wife] for the time that they were apart," Bower has shared of his character, who is Galadriel's long lost husband. "I really feasted on that idea. Celeborn has had to find a way to survive whilst longing for something that he so dearly loved and so dearly missed as well."

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 3 star Daniel Weyman has teased how Gandalf will play into the series going forward. Speaking during a panel at San Diego Comic-Con, the actor revealed that the iconic Lord of the Rings character has "arrived".

"We've seen in this in this time gap between season two and season three-he's been sitting around with Tom Bombadil," Weyman said at the panel attended by GamesRadar+. "He's been trying to learn his stuff, and he can't make a sense of these riddles that Tom keeps coming up with. But he is-he is learning. I think we will agree-he has arrived in season three. He's in his power. He has agency. He's the Gandalf. I think we all hopefully know and love, and that means that as he tries to influence what's going on in Middle Earth as the darkness is rising."

Weyman also teased a bit about what Gandalf will be doing in the upcoming season. "He's on the lookout for people whose hearts have been chilled, that have been frozen," he added. "He's going to try and rewarm them. He's going to rekindle them to like a place where they can where they can grow and they can love again. So hopefully, we're going to be watching him through season three, work all ways of helping to defeat [Sauron]."

Showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay also teased what to expect from the new season at the panel and were in attendance with plenty of the cast, including Benjamin Walker, Charlie Vickers, Jamie Campbell Bower, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Owain Arthur, and Ismael Cruz Cordova.

The third season features a big time jump from season 2 as we head into a new era of war between the Elves and Sauron. This is also the season where we finally get to see the Dark Lord forging the One Ring to rule them all, a key moment in Lord of the Rings history.

Speaking ahead of SDCC, McKay told Empire that the filming this was "the single most ambitious, technically challenging sequence we've ever done on the show. Charlie’s performance is absolutely staggering. We never could have prepared for it."

Elsewhere, we also got our first look at Gandalf in all his glory, following on from his reveal at the end of season 2. He appeared on a side of a bus making its way through San Diego wearing his signature hat.

"They will see connective tissue and character and storylines that relate to the first two movies," he added. "At the same time, this was designed in a way such that if you're not deeply ingrained in the first two pictures, you can pick this up very easily and connect to it. It's not. This is not meant to be inside baseball. This is indeed meant to bring in a whole new generation of fans."

Michelle Yeoh, Hunter Schafer, Tom Burke, and Dimitri Abold, who were all at the panel. The official synopsis reads, "And between 2049 and 2099, that's happened. The first teaser trailer and release date for Prime Video's upcoming Blade Runner 2099 TV show at San Diego Comic-Con 2026

In the brief clip, which can be viewed above, we meet Cora (Hunter Schafer), a human who is struggling to survive in a post-war future where the replicants have won. "How much longer until we have nothing... until we are nothing?" she asks in voiceover, as we see a montage of both chaos and violence (and there's a pretty surprising scene involving her head being smashed against a window that might make you a little queasy). She meets up with Olwen (Michelle Yeoh), a replicant near the end of her life.... but we don't quite yet kow what her motives are.

The spin-off series is set 50 years after the events of Blade Runner 2049, and is slated for a November 25 release. The official synopsis reads, "The war has happened and the humans have lost. Our worst fears imagined. The replicants are now the power brokers of the city. And humans are the second-class citizens." The impossibly bleak tagline is: "Welcome to a future we no longer control."

"There was a moment of just letting go… I was like, 'OK, we’re really going out there with this,'" star Tom Burke has said of the show, adding that it will be "much closer to the aesthetic of the first movie than the second movie" as it contains "that somewhat kind of Baroque, eclectic mix of cultures and time periods."

This week, we're anticipating a hefty Avengers: Doomsday news dump on the horizon, what with the Latverian leader set to make his presence known at SDCC this weekend.

One other MCU legend that could also be making an appearance, though, is the lawyer-turned-lawbreaker, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) aka Daredevil. After the events of season 2 and behind-the-scenes footage of Élodie Yung back in action as Elektra, it's clear that the Devil of Hell's Kitchen will have a lot on his plate when he's back on our screens, and we might see some this weekend. If you can't wait that long, well, don't worry. The snoops of the internet have revealed more leaked images hinting at how he'll be looking when he returns.

A batch of images of gifts the crew was given on production have appeared online, with the most noticeable item showing Matt dressed the same way he was when he was put in prison during comic writer Chip Zdarsky's run from 2020. That artwork, from Marco Checchetto and Matt Wilson, can be seen on a poster for the show's SPFX department, who are also labeled the "Gate Keepers of Cell Block D," referencing the Ed Brubaker-penned arc from 2006. Besides wielding a great, big bushy beard and the traditional orange prison jumpsuit, Matt also dons an orange rag to make a balaclava similar to the black one we first saw Cox wear in the original Netflix series.

For the more keen-eyed fans, though, there's an even greater detail to take away from these photos, and it's the one spread across Charlie Cox's back. The T-shirt he's wearing for Born Again season 3 shows the "Daredevil" lettering, which is composed of various different comic book issues, some of which seem crucial to next season's story.

Firstly, there's a Zdarsky issue, followed by "Defenders" #2 from 2017 (no surprise there given the gang are getting back together). There's also an image of the female Muse, Morgan Whittier, from "Daredevil: Unleash Hell" #1, who was the inspiration for Matt's unhinged ex, Heather (Margarita Levieva), and her trajectory in the show's next chapter. In the comics, that Muse also went up against Elektra when she took on the mantle of Daredevil herself. Could this suggest that two of Daredevil's very lethal exes are going to throw down with one another while Matt is behind bars? If so, then perhaps it's better that our legendary lawyer stays there and lets his former lady friends air out their issues. That is, as long as an old fan-favorite assassin doesn't get to one of them first.

Perhaps the most noticeable comic issue on this t-shirt is in "Daredevil" #181, which any fan of old Hornhead will know saw Bullseye (played by Wilson Bethel) kill Elektra with her own sai.

Regardless of seeing Poindexter head off to parts unknown at the end of season 2, leaks confirm that Bethel will be back in an upgraded costume that looks more in line with the very set Bullseye wears in the comics when he kills Elektra. With that in mind, could Yung's return to Hell’s Kitchen be a brief one?

At this rate, there are enough canned Star Wars projects to fill an entire star system. Thankfully, though, news from SDCC reveals one forgotten show will be coming back from the brink and has been described by its creator as "Simpsons in the Star Wars universe."

During the "Inside the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art" panel, it was announced that a formerly shelved show, Star Wars: Detours, will be viewable at the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, which will be opening in September (via Entertainment Weekly).

The show was originally conceived by Seth Green, who is no stranger to the Star Wars universe after voicing a variety of characters in shows like The Bad Batch and Star Wars Rebels. He's also no stranger to getting laughs out of the galaxy far, far away by way of Robot Chicken and the Family Guy specials that saw his character Chris take up the mantle of Luke Skywalker.

Star Wars: Detours sounds like it's tickling a similar funny bone, with the show's original premise looking at the mundane daily goings on in the universe of Jedis and Jawas. "We made a show with George, an animated series," Green confessed to the audience. "He wanted to make Simpsons in the Star Wars universe. It's called Detours, and there's… going to be a curation of episodes from that show on display for the public."

The series, which was originally announced back in 2012, was set between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. 26 episodes were done and dusted when it was originally revealed, and even featured guest appearances from Anthony Edwards, Ahmed Best, Billy Dee Williams, Lucas himself, along with a lot of the Robot Chicken alumni. Search for the right thing on YouTube, and you might even be able to find some of them (just don't ask us to help you).

The last time Green spoke about the show was back in March, when he recalled that Detours got put on the back burner when attention shifted to the new trilogy of movies that were on the horizon. He also didn't anticipate them getting revived for streaming.

"Detours itself would have to be edited, upgraded – they'd have to do new work on it to make it possible to put it on streaming," he told ComicBook. "I just don't think they're willing to commit the spend to update and release this when they can't see a clear benefit."

Thankfully, the show will now see the light in what is practically a treasure trove of Star Wars goodness, and Green couldn't speak highly enough of his lost little show getting some new time to shine. A new Mobile Suit Gundam anime, titled Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO, has been announced, which will coincide with the previously announced video game Gundam Rogue Orbit.

The brief teaser trailer, which can be viewed above, was released during a panel at San Diego Comic-Con. Per the official logline: "For three months, humanity fought the Apocalypse to a standstill in orbit above Earth. Forced to abandon the planet, humanity marked that year as A.A.... the first year After Apocalypse. By A.A. 45, children born on the Moon and in space colonies have never known life without the Apocalypse. And on the lunar surface, a boy named Ray Azumi awakens."

The new anime is set to tie-in with Gundam Rogue Orbit, which was announced in June. Per Polygon, the anime "takes place first chronologically and is set 100 years before the game." Kenji Kamiyama, who is best known for Ninth Jedi from Star Wars Visions and Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim, serves as writer and director.

The franchise first kicked off with the Mobile Suit Gundam anime series in 1979, which would go on to spawn numerous series, movies, manga, novels, and video games.

After a tumultuous few months of leaks and release changes, Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender fans were in for a treat at San Diego Comic-Con 2026.

While the panel was focused on the movie, it also surprised dropped the first trailer for Seven Havens. It doesn't give much away, but it does set the tone with a colorful, beautiful few minutes of footage. Check it our above.

The panel was attended by director Lauren Montgomery and stars Dave Bautista, Steven Yeun, Eric Nam, Jessica Matten, Dionne Quan, and Roman Zaragoza.

The official synopsis teases the show "centers around a young Earthbender who discovers she’s the new Avatar after Korra in a world shattered by a devastating cataclysm. In this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity's destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization's last strongholds collapse."

It will consist of two Books, each 13 half-hour episodes each.

The Aang film, meanwhile, serves as a sequel to the Nickelodeon series Avatar: The Last Airbender, and is set to stream on Paramount Plus beginning on July 25. The Hall H panel predates the exclusive fan screening, which takes place on July 24 in Ballroom 20 at 7:00 PM PST.

The new movie sees Avatar Aang, the world's last Airbender, learn of an ancient power that could save his culture from extinction. Per the official synopsis, Aang, with the help of his friends, "embarks on a global quest to find it before it falls into the wrong hands and threatens to upend the peace they sacrificed everything to achieve."

Avatar Aang was leaked online in its entirety earlier this year. Though it's set to go straight to streaming, it'll also get a week-long limited (and awards-qualifying) theatrical run from July 24 to July 30.
