Is Rainbow Six Siege X crossplay available?

The answer is yes! Rainbow Six Siege X supports crossplay, making the process of playing with your PC or console friends easy. Every supported platform can benefit from crossplay, and it's actually turned on by default for PC players and cannot be turned off, but can be tweaked.

It isn't for console players, however, presumably due to the age-old advantage that PC players have thanks to mouse aiming. If you want to turn it on, or indeed turn it off, we've included that information in our guide below.

How to turn on crossplay in Rainbow Six Siege X on consoles

To enable Rainbow Six Siege X crossplay on PlayStation and Xbox, this is the process to follow:

• Boot up the game and go to the Options menu
• Find the 'General' tab
• Enable/disable the setting marked 'Crossplay Matchmaking'
• If playing on Xbox, you can also set crossplay settings in your console's settings under 'Account' > 'Privacy & online safety' > 'Xbox privacy' > 'View details and customize' > 'Communication & multiplayer'

PC crossplay settings in Rainbow Six Siege X

As noted before, crossplay is locked to enabled on PC, with no option to turn it off. However, there is a crossplay setting that you can still tinker with. If you'd prefer not to communicate with players on other systems for any reason, you can disable crossplay communication. To do this, follow these steps:

• Boot up the game and load into the Options menu
• Select the 'General' tab
• Scroll down to the very bottom and enable/disable 'crossplay communication'

Note that to disable this setting, you will need to disable the 'Text & Voice Chat' setting as a global setting in your Ubisoft account.

Is there cross-progression in Rainbow Six Siege X?

Not only is crossplay a key feature of Rainbow Six Siege X, but it also supports cross-progression. If you unlock a cool operator on PS5, for example, you will also unlock it on PC and on Xbox. The only key consideration to keep in mind is ensuring that your various accounts across different platforms are all linked to the same Ubisoft account.

Best Attacking Operators in Rainbow Six Siege X for Beginners

Sledge (SAS)

Unique Ability: Breaching Hammer

Loadout options:

• Primary: L85A2 assault rifle, M590A1 shotgun
• Secondary: P226 MK25 pistol
• Gadgets: Frag Grenade, Stun Grenade, Impact EMP Grenade

Sledge is a fantastic option for brand new players – he was nerfed a bit in previous seasons of Siege but now he's back in business with two speed and two health making him a well-rounded and balanced character. His unique ability isn't particularly difficult to understand, either. He has a massive sledgehammer, hence the name, which can smash through breakable surfaces with ease.

His weapons offer a decent variety of options, allowing him to take enemies out at range with his assault rifle or get in close with a shotgun. His gadgets, too, are easy to understand – two of them are pretty standard grenades as you'd find in any other FPS, while the impact EMP grenade allows him to temporarily take out electronic devices. All in all, he's a great place to start your Rainbow Six Siege X journey.

Thermite (SWAT)

Unique Ability: Exothermic Charge

Loadout options:

• Primary: 556XI assault rifle, M1014 shotgun
• Secondary: M45 MEUSOC pistol, 5.7 USG pistol
• Gadgets: Smoke Grenade, Stun Grenade

Thermite is another brilliant option for new players who is also capable of turning the tide of battle. Thermite, as the name suggests, wields exothermic charges that can cut through reinforced walls, giving your team more breach options. He, like Sledge, is also very well-balanced in terms of stats. He has two speed and two health, so he's relatively quick on his feet and can take more shots before going down. We still wouldn't advise you to hang around in front of gunfire, however.

His weaponry is solid, too, with an assault rifle with a good rate of fire, counterbalanced by low destructibility potential. The semi-auto M1014 shotgun is also a fantastic option, and can be synergised with the exothermic charge for efficient and easy room clearances. In terms of gadgets, Thermite hews close to his SWAT past, and can carry either smoke or stun grenades.

Iana

Unique Ability: Gemini Replicator

Loadout options:

• Primary: G36C assault rifle, ARX200 assault rifle
• Secondary: MK1 9mm pistol, GONNE-6 hand cannon
• Gadgets: Impact EMP Grenade, Smoke Grenade

Iana is a Dutch Operator who has an incredible unique ability – she can project a controllable holographic copy of herself to gather intel and draw enemy fire. This can be used to set up ambushes, find enemies, and more! It's super versatile and quite easy to grasp as well, making her ideal for new players. As with the other Operators who we've mentioned so far, she has two speed and two health, giving her a decent balance.

Her weaponry is excellent as well – you get a choice of two assault rifles as your primary. The G36C carries more ammo and fires quickly, while the ARX200 is a heavier rifle that is great for precision shots but which only has 20 bullets per magazine. Her secondaries are interesting as well. You get a standard but versatile pistol or a hand cannon, which fires explosive projectiles. If you're having visions of China Lake grenade launchers and blowing enemies to smithereens, then you'll be disappointed. However, the GONNE-6 is excellent at destroying gadgets, and has superb accuracy.

Zero (Fourth Echelon)

Unique Ability: Argus Launcher

Loadout options:

• Primary: SC3000K assault rifle, MP7 submachine gun
• Secondary: 5.7 USG pistol, GONNE-6 hand cannon
• Gadgets: Hard Breach Charge, Claymore mine

Zero is Sam Fisher. Yes, that Sam Fisher, from the Splinter Cell series, migrated over to another Tom Clancy property, but don't let that fool you into thinking he can't stand toe-to-toe with other Operators. Zero only has one health but this is counteracted by his three speed and powerful special ability. The Argus Launcher fires cameras that can punch through reinforced surfaces (in addition to standard breakable ones), as well as firing a laser that you can use to distract enemies, destroy devices, or even finish off a downed enemy (though this is very hard to pull off, as the lasers do a tiny amount of damage).

His armaments are solid, particularly the MP7 SMG. While it lacks in damage compared to the SC3000K assault rifle, it has a higher rate of fire and can carry more bullets to make up for it. In terms of his secondaries, Zero also packs the GONNE-6, much like Iana, as well as the 5.7 USG which can do very decent damage. His gadgets are extremely useful too, with the Claymore fantastic for use in tight corridors, while the Hard Breach Charge can punch a good-sized hole through reinforced surfaces.

Mute (SAS)

Unique Ability: Signal Disruptor

Loadout options:

• Primary: M590A1 Shotgun, MP5K submachine gun
• Secondary: SMG-11 machine pistol, P226 MK25 pistol
• Gadgets: Nitro Cell explosives, Bulletproof Camera

Mute is a fantastic and versatile defender whose unique ability is exceptionally useful. As his name implies, his signal disruptor ability can jam electronic devices, rendering the enemy team's drones useless. He's a tanky Operator, too, which isn't such a problem for defenders who are willing to set up kill zones, coming with just one speed but three health.

His weaponry boasts two solid options in the form of a pump-action shotgun and fast-firing submachine gun. While the shotgun does more damage and has a faster aim down sights (ADS) time, it's hard to beat the MP5K's rate of fire. If you prefer the shotgun, you could also consider equipping the SMG-11 as your secondary, which is effectively a bonus SMG with a small magazine. Alternatively, you can pack a punch with the P226 MK25. The gadgets are excellent as well – the bulletproof camera is exactly what it says on the tin, while the nitro cell explosives are fantastic remote-detonated plastic explosive charges.

Rook (GIGN)

Unique Ability: Armor Pack

Loadout options:

• Primary: MP5 submachine gun, P90 submachine gun, SG-CQB shotgun
• Secondary: LFP586 pistol, P9 pistol
• Gadgets: Proximity Alarm, Impact Grenade, Observation Blocker

Rook is a French Operator and another tanky one, with three health and one speed. His special ability is invaluable for any team, giving him the ability to throw down armor plates for his team to use. While a little more mundane than some of the other special abilities that we've mentioned on this list, it's extremely helpful.

His weaponry offers a good range of damage and fire rate. The P90 fires fastest but has the least damage, the MP5 is a happy medium, and the SG-CQB shotgun is slow but hits like a truck. If you're going for high-damage loadout above all else, the LFP586 pistol is also well worth mentioning. It's a revolver that can only hold six shots, but hits very hard. If you'd prefer a more balanced approach, the P9 isn't bad either, doing less damage but holding 16 shots.

In terms of gadgets, the proximity alarm is fantastic for figuring out where enemies are, while the impact grenade is essentially an explosive tennis ball you can bean at people. The Observation Blocker, meanwhile, inhibits the view of enemy drones and CCTV, letting you do your devilish business in secret.

Kapkan (Spetsnaz)

Unique Ability: Entry Denial Device

Loadout options:

• Primary: 9x19VSN submachine gun, SASG-12 Shotgun
• Secondary: GSH-18 pistol, PMM pistol
• Gadgets: Bulletproof Camera, Barbed Wire

Kapkan is an excellent, balanced Operator, with two speed and two health. What really makes him worth playing, however, is his Entry Denial Device. This ability allows him to lay laser tripwire traps across doorways and windows, which will trigger an explosive if tripped. The damage they do is quite significant and they affect anyone within a few meters, potentially allowing you to hit several enemies with one Entry Denial Device.

His primaries are solid – the SMG does decent damage and has an okay rate of fire, while the SASG-12 semi-auto shotgun sacrifices fire rate for pure power. It's mag-fed as well, giving you 10 shots before you need to reload. His two pistols give you a balanced option in the form of the GSH-18 or a heavier-hitting option in the PMM. His gadgets are good, too, with a Bulletproof Camera ideal for intel gathering and Barbed Wire for area denial and slowing down enemies.

The Division Heartland, which was set to be a free-to-play take on the third-person shooter series, has been canceled.

In its financial report today, Ubisoft said that "in line with the increased selectivity of its investments, Ubisoft has decided to stop development on The Division Heartland and has redeployed resources to bigger opportunities such as XDefiant and Rainbow Six." XDefiant is finally due to launch this month, and Rainbow Six Mobile is in development alongside the continued success of Rainbow Six Siege.

Ubisoft also noted in today's report that it intends to "return to leadership in the open-world" genre alongside increased investment in games as a service. During a Q&A session with investors, CFO Frédérick Duguet was asked how Heartland's cancellation squares with that strategy - a question he didn't really directly address.

"As for The Division," Duguet said, "we have an ambitious roadmap that relies on investing in The Division 2, The Division Resurgence which will come on mobile this year. And we have The Division 3 that is in development." The Division 3 has not yet been formally unveiled, but it was announced in a shockingly casual way last year.

Duguet was asked later how much Ubisoft had invested in Heartland. "We don't disclose detailed numbers on the budget," he said. "It was, of course, a significant material investment that we had put in the game."

Ubisoft's big news today was, of course, the formal reveal of Assassin's Creed Shadows, which features dual protagonists - one the first Black samurai in Japanese history, the other a shinobi.

Rainbow Six Siege matches were briefly overrun by images of giant chickens and far fouler things, but Ubisoft has put a temporary stop to the issue while working on a permanent fix.

Sometime earlier this week, Rainbow Six Siege hackers found a way to take advantage of the game's ban ticker to flood players' screens with random images. It started with a lovable, goofy cartoon chicken. So lovable, in fact, that players weren't even really mad when the hack got underway.

The video above gives you an idea of what the exploit looks like in-game. The chicken was so widespread that it was even seen during esports broadcasts - which meant that commentators had to try and keep a straight face during the proceedings, as you can see in the opening clip of the highlight video below.

Ubisoft has disabled the ban ticker while the devs work on a proper fix for the issue, but the community isn't ready to say goodbye to the iconic chicken just yet.

Or, at least, that would be the case if the chicken was the only thing being added to Siege. Unfortunately, hackers soon started adding nude images to the feed, which would be a particular problem for streamers trying to avoid running afoul of Twitch's content policies. Much worse, images of real-world violence were soon added, too.

Listen, folks, if you're going to cause chaos at least just stick with the fun kind. It's a shame to see Siege Chicken's memory sullied like this.

The original Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon is going free on PC to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the series' debut.

Announced alongside the unveiling of Ghost Recon Frontline, Ubisoft announced it would be giving away the original Ghost Recon for free on PC until next week, ending on October 11. The original entry that would spawn the massive Tom Clancy franchise at Ubisoft is free right now through Ubisoft Connect, to celebrate the anniversary of its original launch all the way back in 2001.

Additionally, a number of DLC expansions for some of the more recent Ghost Recon games are being given away for the anniversary. The Fallen Ghosts DLC for 2017's Ghost Recon Wildlands is free right now on PC through Ubisoft Connect, as is the Deep State Adventure for 2019's Ghost Recon Breakpoint, the perfect excuse to revisit some of the more modern games in the franchise.

This news was supplementing the announcing of Ghost Recon Frontline, the next venture for Ubisoft in the ongoing shooter saga. This time though, Ghost Recon Frontline is entirely free-to-play on consoles and PC alike, and it's putting a battle royale spin on the series. 

Right now, there's no release date in sight for Ghost Recon Frontline, but Ubisoft plans to host a PC server test for the game later this month on October 14 throughout Europe, with the test arriving on other platforms and regions at a later date. With Ghost Recon Frontline, Ubisoft is looking to make its mark on a landscape dominated by the likes of Fortnite, Call of Duty: Warzone, Apex Legends, and many others.

Ubisoft will announce a new Tom Clancy video game tomorrow, July 19, 2021.

Sharing nowt but a three-second-long video teaser and hinting that "things are going to get wild", all we currently know is that there's a lot of neon scribbles and a funky new logo to match – here, take a peek below:

"Tomorrow, things are going to get wild," Ubisoft teased on its social media channels earlier today. "Tune in at 11 AM PT / 8 PM CEST for the worldwide reveal of a brand-new game in the Tom Clancy’s universe."

The tweet – not to mention the stylized "X" apostrophe, which is frequently used to denote a crossover or mashup event – certainly adds credence to last month's rumor that a Tom Clancy crossover game featuring The Division, Splinter Cell, and Ghost Recon could be on the way.

The images that originally accompanied the tweet were eventually taken offline following a DMCA request from Ubisoft, but they talked of a new game called The Division BattleCat. Although we're still not entirely sure if that's the final title for the game or a codename, implying that the game will be "wild" certainly points to BattleCat, though, doesn't it? 

Hmm. All will be revealed tomorrow, I guess.

"If you started with the Rainbow Six series, it meant you were in for an intensely tactical shooting experience, where studying maps and carefully diagramming assault routes was the only path to victory. If Splinter Cell was your introduction to the Clancy clan, it meant thoughtful stealth fused with 'it could happen tomorrow' stories of shadow governments and insurrections. Or if you started with HAWX, er, sorry about that.

Ubisoft has revealed that the second season of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege Year 6 will be called North Star.

The new season will feature new indigenous Operator, Thunderbird, who comes from the Nakoda nation, and an "entirely reworked" Favela map.

Thunderbird can deploy a Kóna Healing Station, which heals any player – ally or enemy – close to this device, even if they are downed, whilst the new Favela map features "reimagined rooms, better map overview and improved navigation" to "improve readability, making sure players always know where they are and where they are going when playing on Favela". 

"Thunderbird is a low armor, high-speed operator, equipped with a SPEAR .308 or SPAS-15 as a primary weapon, and BEARING 9 or Q-929 as a secondary weapon," Ubisoft explained.

Other updates coming with North Star include Scoreboard 2.0, new corpse icons, bullet hole fixes, and operator balancing, specifically "tweaks" to Melusi, Mira, and Maestro. 

Though a formal release date has not been specified, testing on the Test Server will go live on May 25, permitting players to experiment with upcoming features before they roll out into the main game. This includes a "revamped armor system and activities after death".

Thanks to a free-to-play event and a brand-new season of content, Rainbow Six Siege recently broke its own concurrent user record on Steam. 

ICYMI, Ubisoft recently confirmed it will focus on high-end free-to-play games going forward, moving away from its three-four premium AAA games per-year strategy.

Ubisoft held its full-year earnings call earlier this month. During the call, Ubisoft’s chief financial officer Frederick Duguet said that “in line with the evolution of our high-quality line-up that is increasingly diverse, we are moving on from our prior comment regarding releasing three-four premium AAAs per year".

"Additionally, we are building high-end free-to-play games to be trending towards AAA ambitions over the long-term,” explained Duguet.

20 minutes of Ubisoft's upcoming free-to-play The Division Heartland has leaked online.

Tom Clancy's The Division: Heartland is a standalone spinoff title that you'll be able to play for free when it launches on PC, consoles, and cloud platforms sometime in "2021-22". The footage – which has now been taken down from YouTube and Vimeo – showed off a good snippet of the gameplay that takes place in a small American town called Silver Creek.

Still online is an introduction from lead game designer Taylor Epperly, imploring players to give their "unfiltered feedback" whilst asking the "very limited group of players" included in the closed test to "avoid sharing any information, including what you see in this tech test". 

"Please don't be the one who ruins the surprise for the larger Division community," she said.

Not much else is known about Heartland, but it's being developed by Red Storm Entertainment, whose work on the Tom Clancy saga dates back to 1997's Tom Clancy's Politika. The studio has also co-developed several Rainbow Six games and worked on the Far Cry series and both Division games.

ICYMI, the next big update for The Division 2 is tentatively scheduled for late 2021, and Ubisoft is planning to add an all-new game mode along with more ways to build your character.

Ubisoft clarified its plans for the looter-shooter after announcing a surprise extension for the game's update schedule at the beginning of the year. The update is "still in its early stages and will take several months to complete," so it's currently planned for "late 2021 at the earliest". 

While the timeline is still coming together, Ubisoft did offer some clear goals for the big update. "We are looking to bring a game mode that is entirely new to the franchise," the dev team says.

Thanks to a free-to-play event and a brand-new season of content, Rainbow Six Siege has broken its own concurrent user record on Steam.

Even though the shooter released way back in 2015, this weekend saw the latest installment of Ubisoft's FPS series break its own record for simultaneous players, clocking up an astonishing 201,503 concurrent users over the weekend.

According to SteamDB, that's more concurrent users than it's ever had before, and significantly beating the previous record of 199,307 users set back in March 2020 (thanks, PCGN).

ICYMI, Rainbow Six Siege Year 6 is here, kicking off with the Crimson Heist seasonal event that introduces new attacker Flores from Argentina, and a rework of the existing Border map.

As for what's next? Year 6 season two will introduce an unannounced character from the Nakoda Nations, along with a rework of the Favela map, while season three adds one character from Croatia and reworks three existing maps. Season four rounds out Year 6 with an operator from Ireland, and will rework the Outback map.

Ubisoft also introduced a raft of minor and QoL gameplay adjustments in Rainbow Six Siege Year 6, too. A new secondary weapon, the Gonne-6, has been added, along with the ability for players to control their cameras and gadgets even after their death. In the preparation phase before a match kicks off, you can change character as many times as you please, and finally, all armor will be switched to health, giving players a better grasp of their durability.

Ubisoft has outlined what's new for the fourth season of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege fifth year, Operation Neon Dawn. 

The new season ushers in new operator, Aruni, a brand-new defender that comes with an original gadget called the Surya Gate that deploys laser gates on walls, hatches, doors, and windows. Interestingly, while the gates damage Attackers and their utility and act as an obstacle as well as zapping drones and projectiles, they turn off to allow defenders through. 

As for weapons? Aruni is equipped with a P10 RONI or a MK 14 EBR as her primary weapon, while her secondary firearm is a PRB 92.

That's not all, though. As well as an "entirely reworked" Skyscraper map, with three major objectives, there's the Sixth Guardian Program, "in which certain seasons have a limited-time bundle dedicated to a different charity. More info will come soon regarding the Doc Sixth Guardian Bundle".

There's also a raft of new accessibility improvements for players with sensory impairments, too. 

"With this new season also come new accessibility features," Ubisoft said in the press statement. "Voice to Text and Text to Voice options for the in-game chat channel as well as chat assistance like Narration and Hints have been added to the Options menu. Besides, players can now adjust the audio/visual cues for the chat and the font scaling."

Players keen to get involved sooner rather than later will be able to access the new features and content via the Test Server from November 9, but Ubisoft advises that "since this is a testing environment, a consistent gameplay experience is not guaranteed on the Test Server".

Microsoft recently confirmed that Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege is heading to Xbox Game Pass where the game will be available to more than 15 million people now subscribe to Xbox Game Pass. That's up 50 per cent in just about 5 months, as the service only surpassed 10 million subscribers back in April. Microsoft released the new figure for Xbox Game Pass subscriber numbers in the same press release where it announced its acquisition of Bethesda parent company ZeniMax. 

Earlier this month, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers also got an all-new benefit in the form of cloud gaming: more than 150 games are now available for cloud streaming to Android devices, letting both dedicated Xbox fans and folks who don't even own a console or gaming PC alike play wherever they have a decent network connection.

Microsoft has confirmed that Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege is heading to Xbox Game Pass. In a blog post published earlier today, the Xbox team confirmed that Ubisoft's shooter will be available on the subscription service later this week.

The post confirms that the game "is coming to Console with Xbox Game Pass and cloud gaming on Android devices with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on October 22." It also serves as a reminder that subscribers will be able to use their membership discounts to get up to 10% off in-game items, from cosmetics to the Year 5 pass, which grants access to the latest new arrivals to the game's impressive roster of characters.

Today's confirmation comes after an image posted on the Xbox Game Pass Twitter on Saturday seemed to point towards the tactical FPS. The picture, which featured six rainbows stacked up over a medieval siege, leaving little room for speculation.

It's a smart move for Ubisoft. Rainbow Six Siege was already getting a next-gen upgrade, but giving it away at dramatically reduced cost to Game Pass subscribers should help the five-year-old game bridge the gap as players start to move onto new consoles.

More than 15 million people now subscribe to Xbox Game Pass. That's up 50 per cent in just about 5 months, as the service only surpassed 10 million subscribers back in April. Microsoft released the new figure for Xbox Game Pass subscriber numbers in the same press release where it announced its acquisition of Bethesda parent company ZeniMax. 

With the announcement that future Bethesda titles are coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one, including Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6, and the pending arrival of Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S in November, I can't imagine Xbox Game Pass' growth is about to start slowing down now.

Earlier this month, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers also got an all-new benefit in the form of cloud gaming: more than 150 games are now available for cloud streaming to Android devices, letting both dedicated Xbox fans and folks who don't even own a console or gaming PC alike play wherever they have a decent network connection.

Here are all the upcoming Xbox Series X games that we know of. 

Ubisoft has revealed more details about the third season of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege Year 5: Operation Shadow Legacy.

We already knew that Splinter Cell star Sam Fisher was coming out of retirement to be the next Rainbow Six: Siege playable character, codenamed Zero, but now Ubisoft has dropped more information about the upcoming season.

Fisher is an Attacker equipped with a new gadget, the Argus Launcher, which is described as a two-way drill camera that can "pierce soft or reinforced walls, windows, and hatches or stick to any surface". 

"Once in the camera, the Attacker can rotate the camera’s vision to see the other side of the wall," Ubisoft explains. "Each camera is equipped with one laser charge, usable to deal damages to Defenders or destroy gadgets. Sam Fisher is also coming with his unique weapon the SC3000K & melee weapon: the Karambit."

That's not all that's coming to the new season, of course. Players will also get to play the reworked Chalet map which boasts improvements to the first and second floors, as well as sporting a "traversable" roof. Objectives have also been tweaked, and there's a hallway added to "improve rotation in the Basement". The Trophy site has now been switched for a new one in Dining, too.

Other updates include Ping 2.0, Map Ban, new secondary gadget: the Hard Breach Charge, new Optics and Sights Colors, and new Reinforcement Pool, too. The Test Server for Operation Shadow Legacy will go live on August 17. 

If you've been tempted before but have yet to get involved in Rainbow Six Siege, now just might be the time – there's a free play event from August 27 to September 4, depending upon your platform of choice. Newbies and veterans alike will also get the chance to try out Ubisoft's new SquadFinder, "a mobile and desktop web application designed to help players match with teammates according to their language, playstyle, and overall game habits". 

Ubisoft also recently announced a new neon-soaked event for Rainbow Six Siege, bringing the 5v5 Secure Area mode and Tower map centuries into the cyberpunk-styled future. The limited-time Mute Protocol event – which arrived on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on Tuesday, August 4 – introduces a brand new gameplay feature. Morphing allows the attackers to switch between Operator form and Drone by entering and exiting Observation Tools and defenders can teleport around the map using bulletproof cameras.

Rainbow Six Siege is heading to PS5 and Xbox Series X, launching on the same day as the consoles. 

That's according to game director Leroy Athanassof, who was speaking to Windows Central.

Athanassof said, "What I can tell you is that we are going to be on [the consoles] from launch. When they will release the consoles; but it's up to them to agree that. For Siege, our target is to be available right at launch."

It's not the only next-gen news that came from Athanassof about Rainbow Six Siege, as they also spoke about cross-generational multiplayer coming to the shooter, "That means if you play on the next PlayStation, you will be able to matchmake with the previous PlayStation." If you're not getting a PS5 or Xbox Series X at the same time as your mates, it seems like Siege will be a good place to keep your gaming habits intact. 

Outside of cross-generational multiplayer, Athanassof also talked about cross-platform play and cross-platform progression. The game director said that the team hopes to implement cross-platform progression at some stage, enabling players to move accounts across platforms. 

But when it comes to playing matches across platforms, Athnasassof explained that it's more of a discussion between Microsoft and Sony, saying, "we would love to be full cross-play - have Xbox players matchmaking against PlayStation players. We are ready to support that." 

The news that Rainbow Six Siege is set to come to PS5 and Xbox Series X comes just after the reveal of the first two operators coming to Year 5 Season 1's Void Edge, the next big update coming to the tactical shooter. The update is set to introduce operators Iana and Oryx, along with a rework of the map of Oregon, and new gameplay updates.

At today's Pro League Finals in Tokoname, Japan, Ubisoft has detailed what's coming up for Rainbow Six Siege's final season for Year 4, Operation Shifting Tides.

Just like August's Operation Ember Rise, this latest season also introduces two new operators - Kali from India and Wamai from Kenya - plus a reworked map, only this time it's Theme Park that's getting an overhaul.

Having met via Kali's private military group Nighthaven Special Intervention Company, this duo has worked closely in the past. Kali joins the roster as an Attacker, whilst Wamai has expertise as a Defender. Kali is equipped with a CSRX 300 sniper rifle that can breach barricades and hatches in a single shot, and her gadget is its under-barrel, the LV Explosive Lance, which promises to destroy "all gadgets on both sides of breakable and reinforced surfaces". 

Wamai, on the other hand, employs a Mag-NET System that attracts and/or detonates enemy projectiles. Wamai can also render Attackers’ grenades and projectile gadgets useless, or even "turn them against their users", which sounds handy.

As for the reworked map? Theme Park is back, only this time you'll find some changes. The East and West sections have been brought closer together and The Rail Platform has been entirely removed. You'll find that the downstairs of the east section "has largely evolved", and "Gargoyle and Haunting Dining bomb sites are replaced with the Throne Room and Armory pair". The main entrance, too, has moved; whereas before you'd enter through the Arcade Entrance, the delightful sounding "Gong Room" is now the main entrance.

Last but not least, there's been a handful of other changes, too, including discounts on the operators Hibana, Echo, Dokkaebi, Vigil, Zofia, Nomad and Kaid. A new limb penetration system has also been introduced - ouch! - plus "rappel exist will request a prompt from player to enter rappel."

Operation Shifting Tides goes live on the PC Test Server on November 11, 2019, allowing players to "test upcoming gameplay features that will make their way into the main game itself". As is usually the case, though, be mindful that as a test environment, "a consistent gameplay experience is not guaranteed".

It's another Rainbow Six Siege free weekend this weekend (running from now until August 20), giving you the chance to try the entire game for zero dollar, and see if its brand of defence and assault based multiplayer fuels your fire. 

There's a lot to learn though, with numerous playable characters and abilities to master, and hugely destructible maps that can change the flow of battle with one well placed hole. Fortunately, we've got some essential Rainbow Six Siege tips from Ubisoft's Craig Robinson to help you out. Here's how he recommends you ease into the Siege's tactical shooter world. 

• The best Rainbow Six Siege Operators for beginners

1) Communication is key

"You need to talk with your teammates", explains Robinson. Siege is a game built on situation awareness and the ability to tell teammates where the opposition are, and what enemies (and abilities) are coming is vital. "That's something you absolutely want to do," he says. "Even if you die in the first five seconds of every round you’re still able to support your team through the use of cameras and drones and callouts. And so that plays back into how important and integral communication is the player experience as a whole."

2) Be patient

"Don’t rush into it. Take your time, it’s a steep learning curve," Robinson points out. There are several reasons why. For starters running around is the easiest way to die fast. Both because of exposing yourself to enemy fire and the brutal Time To Kill, and also because in the tight spaces any noise you make can give you away. However, you also need to adjust some of Siege's unique characteristics. "With the destructible environments, every time you play a map it’s going to be a little different," Robinson explains. "So take your time to really learn and understand what’s going on. And be prepared to die a little bit."

3) Practice offline to learn guns, maps and tactics

Rainbow Six has some offline modes that function as tutorials and practice modes, specifically 'Situations', which are like practice runs against bots, and the PvE mode Terrorist Hunt. "Do the situations first to get you some base level familiarity with the weapons and gunplay," says Robinson. "You could try a little Terrorist Hunt to help you get more familiar with the maps. Maybe focus on a single map and run it a few times so you kind of understand the overall layout. Then you should be able to jump into casual, and work with your team to figure out where you fit in." 

4) Don't be afraid to ask for help

"We have a great guide our Reddit moderators created that’s a new player guide that will walk any players through Operators, and which ones are good for new players, what they do, walk through some of the maps," says Robinson. "I highly recommend anyone coming in this weekend to check that out."

Then there's the recently launched R6 Academy. "That’s a great resource for new players," he says, "because it has these video guides from content creators who’ve been playing Siege for years about how to play Operators, how to play certain maps and things like that."

The Division 2 has just had its gameplay reveal at the Xbox E3 2018 press conference, amid a rain of explosions and a torrent of fake co-op gamer chat. Because Ubisoft can't help itself. But boy, do things look very different this time around. 

First up, The Division 2 is set in Washington, and the snow has entirely gone. Starting in an overgrown park, and leading through into a decidedly ‘nature reclaimed’ airfield - The Division 2 looks to be going big on wide, open environments and a lot of architectural diversity - the demo reveals a distinctly apocalyptic, Last of Us style vibe to its world. Gameplay-wise, expect tactical, three-player, co-op cover shooting with a variety of strategic options, from crossbows to chemical cloud launchers. It all looks very tight.

In terms of how all of this fits in with the first game's frosty, New York scenario, The Division 2 seems to be set further along in the timeline, at a point when the 'remnants of a corrupt state’ are rising to plunge the already chaotic US into full-blown civil war. No word on the timeline in the real world though, as we're still waiting on a release date. Keep an eye on the Ubisoft E3 2018 press conference for more details. 

Ubisoft announced The Division 2 today, but don't expect much more than confirmation of the game's existence until E3 2018. All we know right now is that it's called Tom Clancy's The Division 2, it's being developed by Massive Entertainment in collaboration with Ubisoft Reflections, Red Storm Entertainment, Ubisoft Annecy, Ubisoft Shanghai, and Ubisoft Bucharest (so, the same studios that made the original, plus a few new faces), and veterans of the first game will be able to earn unique rewards in the sequel.

"The Division 2 will be powered by an updated version of the Snowdrop engine that enables us to realize our ambitions for the sequel, but more importantly, we’re also taking everything we learned over the past two years and applying it towards the sequel to make sure we get it right," reads a post on the Ubisoft blog. "Part of that means recognizing your commitment to The Division. With that in mind, we’re adding a new type of achievement called 'Shields' to the game. Earning them will unlock special rewards in The Division 2 when it launches."

There's also this (very brief, very plain) teaser:

I can hear a chorus of "people still play that game?" being typed even now, but the short answer is yes - quite a few, actually. Ubisoft launched Tom Clancy's The Division to generally favorable reviews and a wave of player hype in 2016. It was the French company's best-selling game, and enjoyed a huge launch week.

It didn't retain all those players, and the hype certainly died down after awhile, but in total the game has racked up more than 20 million players, and of those, half a million have sunk more than 400 hours into playing. So while it's not on everyone's lips like it was back in 2016, The Division maintains a dedicated playerbase that's grown increasingly happy with changes made to the game post-launch.

Speaking of changes made post-launch, there are two patches coming ahead of a full E3 reveal for current players to look forward to. Update 1.8.1, coming in April, will tweak the Amherst and Grand Central missions for Legendary difficulty, and will arrive alongside an update that gives the game a bit more graphical punch on Xbox One X. The aforementioned Shields are coming in update 1.8.2, scheduled for June.

Hopefully Massive, Red Storm, and the various branches of Ubisoft can apply lessons learned from the first game and make the sequel something the grabs players from the get-go. Whenever that will be.

You've managed to survive shootouts against the talented Operators of Rainbow Six Siege - but how will you fare when hundreds of parasite-infected freaks are charging directly at you? That's the typical combat situation in Outbreak mode, the limited-time event running from March 6 to April 3 (that's right now!) in celebration of Siege's Year 3 content plan. As detailed in our hands-on Rainbow Six Siege Outbreak preview, this PvE mode is quite the change of pace from Siege's standard 5v5 gameplay - and you'd be shocked at how much fun you can have when it's you and two teammates against an angry swarm of mutants hellbent on shredding your flesh.

If you need a rundown on the basics of Outbreak mode, the official Ubisoft video above does a great job on getting you up to speed, from basic pointers (like the importance of making space with melee attacks) to breakdowns on the five enemy types: Grunts, Breachers, Rooters, Smashers, and Apex. But if you want any hope of surviving your first run through these quarantine zones - or eventually conquering the brutal Pandemic difficulty - you'll need to come prepared. These tips will ensure that you and your teammates make it out alive, mostly unscarred, and with a triple-digit alien-zombie bodycount to brag about later.

1. Don't freak out if the objective gets interrupted 

With the stakes in Outbreak mode being so high - potential for global infestation and whatnot - it might initially seem like any failed objective would spell instant doom for the whole mission. Not so. You might end up learning this on the job, but certain objectives - that is, any time you're forced to guard an explosive before it detonates a key obstacle - can be completed even if a runaway herd of Grunts manages to smash it before time's up. If the infected destroy your precious explosive, just play it safe; you don't have to kill everything in sight and restart from scratch. Instead, clear out any infected in the immediate vicinity and simply plant the explosive again when the coast is clear. The timer will resume from where you left off, and you'll soon complete that objective in a jiffy. 

2. Always bring a healer (or two) 

The three Operators you and your team choose to bring into battle aren't exactly the archetypal RPG Holy Trinity, but there's always value to a support role in any team-based game. In the case of Outbreak, both of your options - Doc and Finka - can easily make the difference between survival and a swift end to your mission. Doc's ability to revive himself when he's downed ensures that he's never a liability when the action gets intense, and being able to rejuvenate his teammates (or objective-based VIPs) from afar prevents the group from clumping up and getting trapped in a fatal corner. Same goes for Finka's health-boosting nanomachines, which can revive both of her teammates for a miraculous save when all seems hopeless. Either Operator will be a huge asset for your team no matter what map or encounter you're taking on - and if that includes Pandemic difficulty, you may just want to bring both healers for their incredibly clutch gadgets. 

3. Leave Glaz on the bench 

Whereas Operators like Finka and Doc will always be useful to your Outbreak squad, Spetsnaz sniper Glaz is sadly at the opposite end of the spectrum. Simply put, his super-scoped sniper rifle just doesn't serve much purpose against the infected hordes. The thermal view on Glaz's Flip Sight isn't useful when most enemies run at you in a straight line, and the slower rate-of-fire on the OTs-03 rifle mean that a single missed shot can result in a Grunt (or worse, a Breacher) jumping right up in your face before you can react. It's elementary, really: a sniper just isn't in his element when hundreds of enemies are charging directly at him. 

4. Explosive grenades are all but useless 

Let's talk grenade choice for a moment, because this is one of the most crucial steps of equipping your Operator for Outbreak. First off, don't even bother with frag grenades, impact grenades, nitro cells, or claymores. They sound great in theory: a horde of monsters is headed your way, so blow up a bunch of them in an instant! But in actual combat, you'll often find that explosives only tend to kill three to five enemies at a time, which doesn't do much when dozens are descending on your position. With nitro cells and claymores, you'll be so focused on detonating your traps at the proper time that you might miss baddies incoming from another direction. Maybe if the explosives could kill an Apex in one hit, they'd be worth it - but as it stands now, they barely make a dent. You're way better off using the utility grenades, for the following reasons... 

5. Smoke grenades are amazing for defending objectives 

The infected must have really sensitive lungs, because any time they encounter the noxious fumes of a smoke grenade - or Smoke's Remote Gas Grenades, for that matter - they immediately stop in their tracks and helplessly wave at the air until the cloud dissipates. The extra survivability that a well-timed smoke grenade can provide often makes all the difference, whether your team is being swarmed and you need to escape, or the objective you're defending is being overrun. If you're part of a really coordinated squad, you can chain smoke grenades in sequence to create a small radius where infected can't move or attack, let alone destroy that precious explosive you're protecting. You can use that extra time to maneuver to a better position or simply blast lead into the smoke cloud and rack up some more kills.   

6. Stun grenades can make quick work of a Rooter 

As you'll quickly find the further you get into Outbreak, Rooters are often the straw that breaks the camel's back and gets everyone eaten by parasite zombies. Their ability to lock a player in place can spell instant death, once those Grunts start bashing you and Breachers blow up in your face. The only thing worse than a Rooter is multiple Rooters, so they should always be your kill-on-sight priority. Trouble is, they can take a decent amount of hurt, and they'll typically teleport away from harm just as you're about to shoot them. The solution: stun grenades. Catching a Rooter in the flashbang of a stun grenade or Ying's Candelas will leave them dazed, giving you an opportunity to rush up and perform an instakill melee takedown (complete with snazzy animation). This is a surefire way to deal with one of your deadliest foes, but be wary: stun grenades won't blind nearby allies on the regular difficulty, but they will disrupt your teammates like usual on Pandemic. 

7. Suppressors are overrated 

Screwing a suppressor attachment to your primary weapon is always a trade-off in Siege - namely, quieter firing noise at the cost of some damage. And while the suppressor makes sense in theory, letting you pick off distant Grunts with a single headshot without alerting the masses, the overall damage loss just isn't worth it. You might not notice it right away, but that little skull icon in the bottom left will be a white circle when things are calm, and an orange triangle when the infected are aware of your presence. Any time your skull is in the white, where a suppressor would work best, you can just as easily get the job done with a pistol and some steady headshot aim. Oh, and putting a suppressor on a shotgun is just silly. 

8. Use reinforced walls to create chokepoints 

To keep the action chugging along a smooth clip, Outbreak mode does you the kindness of making barricading and wall-reinforcing way, way faster. When you come to what will clearly be a holdout point against a swarm - usually near an objective - don't hesitate to grab wall reinforcements and start boxing your team into an anti-infested fortress. Just be sure to leave one slot in the wall relatively unprotected, preferably by shooting a sightline through it with a shotgun. Unlike human players, who will recognize this funneled defense as an obvious trap, the infested will simply charge the weakest point mindless, letting you shoot them all like fish in a barrel, tower defense style. Breachers will eventually try to foil those plans, but you can easily chew through the majority of a massive horde before your defensive chokepoints are rendered ineffective. 

9. Don't bother shooting a Smasher's back - just stab them to death 

Smashers are an interesting take on the typical 'big brute' enemy: they're blind, so they'll simply walk and eventually run at whoever's making noise by shooting at them. Their thick skin is impervious to bullets but, like so many game enemies, they have an obvious, constantly glowing weakness: the bright red patch of exposed innards on their backs. You might think that spraying clip after clip into that soft, fleshy section would be the best way to put a Smasher down, but it's far more effective to let your knife do all the work. Someone in your squad should be the designated kiter who attracts the Smasher's attention with gunfire (everyone needs to keep their distance, lest they get splattered with one swipe). Pester the Smasher enough, and he'll charge your position; make sure you're near a wall, and the Smasher will rhino-headbutt itself into a stupor, giving you a momentary chance to stab it in the back for maximum damage. Repeat this process a few times, and the Smasher will fall without your team wasting tons of ammo.

Rainbow Six Siege is, first and foremost, a competitive multiplayer game. Though single-player had traditionally been a fixture of the Rainbow Six series, Siege went all-in on an ever-expanding online ecosystem of PvP - a gamble that paid off, considering that the playerbase continues to grow as Siege enters its Year Three slate of new content. But there's finally a reason to be excited about pure co-op in Rainbow Six Siege with its upcoming 3-player Outbreak mode, a mini-campaign against swarms of alien-infested mutants that evokes fond memories of Left 4 Dead. I've had the chance to fight my way through Outbreak's harrowing hordes and loved every second of it - so it's unfortunate that Ubisoft seems insistent on keeping Outbreak as a limited-time event.

Outbreak and its sci-fi premise boldly step outside the typically grounded bounds of Rainbow Six Siege. An alien parasite finds its way onto Earth via a crashed satellite and subsequently wreaks havoc on the real-world city of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, morphing its denizens into bloodthirsty creatures covered in crimson shards. Up to three co-op teammates must choose from 10 Operators to fight back the infestation: Finka and Lion, the two new Operators from Operation Chimera, are joined by Smoke, Ying, Buck, Ash, Doc, Kapkan, Tachanka, and Glaz (or the vanilla Recruit, if you'd like to make things harder on yourself by playing the standard gadget-less grunt). Speaking of self-imposed difficulty, you also have the option of tackling Outbreak solo or with only one other player - but your chances of survival will plummet accordingly.

Unlike the rest of Siege, Outbreak has a cohesive narrative holding it all together, told through beautifully animated cinematic cutscenes and in-game chatter from familiar faces like Thermite and Jager. It's an appreciated level of backstory that draws you in without the need to comb through expansive Operator bios for context, and while the scenario is more outlandish than Siege players are used to, the polished presentation can win anyone over. It even has great Batman: Arkham-style death scenes that give you a closer look at the cause of your untimely demise, spotlighting the eye-catching enemy designs against a foreboding black backdrop. 

Those enemies come in five freaky varieties. Grunts are the standard targets who will rush you on sight, but can be taken out with a single headshot if they're unaware of your presence. Breachers leap around trying to blow up their disgusting, acidic back-pustules to obliterate Operators and barricades alike. Rooters disable unsuspecting players with spikes they push up through the ground, and can teleport away when they're in danger. Smashers are hulking, blind brutes that bum-rush whoever's shooting them, and can knock you down with a single swipe; the key to downing these Tank-like titans is making them smash into a wall, then plunging a knife into their exposed back-meat while they're dazed. Finally, we have the hovering Apex, who reminds me of Doom 2's pesky Archvile; they're able to summon Grunts, blind you with a blast of black goo, and withstand plenty of firepower thanks to evasive movements and a large health pool.    

There are three sizable maps to clear out, each split into two parts with their own objectives: the spacious Resort, the claustrophobic Hospital, and the grand finale infested nest at the Junkyard. Once you've conquered these maps on the default difficulty, you can try to overcome Pandemic mode, where friendly fire is turned on and the infected attack you in droves. With so much content to enjoy in Outbreak, it seems bizarre that it's all been built for what's reportedly a limited-time event. PC players can venture onto the Technical Test Server to try Outbreak out as soon as February 20, while the complete mode will be playable on all platforms from March 6 through April 3. After that, Outbreak is scheduled to go away - maybe temporarily, maybe forever. 

After playing and loving Outbreak, I asked Alexandre Remy, brand director on Rainbow Six at Ubisoft Montreal, about the reasoning behind making Outbreak a temporary mode. "Why the limited time? It makes sense to look at an event that was intended as a sort of gift or present to the community as something that is limited in time by definition," says Remy. "Rainbow Six is, by nature, a competitive game more than it is a co-op mode versus zombies. So, putting a limited time on Outbreak was a way to say, 'Hey, thank you community. Thank you, players, for being with us. Let's open Year Three with a cool gift.' But our focus is to make a PvP, competitive game." I ask if player demand could make the development team consider keeping Outbreak as a permanent addition. "Would you give the same present on someone's birthday twice? Maybe not," Remy replies.

That seems like a real shame, because Outbreak is a fantastic chunk of co-op fun that only adds to Rainbow Six Siege's value as a complete package. Nobody buys Siege for the current, play-any-time co-op mode Terrorist Hunt, which has you hunkered down on regular multiplayer maps against waves of easy-to-predict AI goons. Nor is there much longevity to the single-player Situations, which are essentially tutorials with optional challenges to entice completionists. But I could easily see Outbreak being a gateway to the rest of the game for new players, who get to familiarize themselves with the unique Operators while racking up kills without the pressures of competition. 

I think the free addition of Outbreak mode will be an instant hit when it launches in the coming weeks, and will delight Rainbow Six Siege players in ways they aren't expecting. But the insistence on keeping it short-lived as a month-long, limited-time release is part of a trend I wish online games would move away from. MOBAs like League of Legends and Heroes of the Storm are guilty of locking some amazing modes and maps behind timed events, and if you don't happen to be playing at the right time, you might miss out on what could've been the most enjoyment you've ever had with the game. It makes me long for the days of Warcraft 3, when additions from the development team where just custom maps you could play at your leisure. To avoid any FOMO melancholy, be sure to give Outbreak mode a try when it hits Rainbow Six Siege for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on March 6.

With its many unique Operator characters, each with their own special ability made possible by a unique gadget, Rainbow Six Siege is effectively a hero shooter - one that opts for the gritty realism of CS:GO over the fantastical technology of Overwatch. And with aspirations to eventually give players 100 Operators to choose from, Ubisoft's design team has to get more and more creative with each major update. There are only so many ways to give Operators tools to plant mines or block off pathways; after two years of growth and success, now is the time to break the mold and do things a little differently. Enter: Finka and Lion, the two newest Operators set to debut with the Operation Chimera expansion that kicks off the first quarter of Siege's Year 3. I've had the chance to play both of these yellow-clad newcomers in PvP (and the new Outbreak mode, which you can read about tomorrow) - and I'm happy to report that their gadgets make good on the promise of keeping Operator designs fresh and exciting.

The official Rainbow Six Siege site goes into great detail profiling Finka and Lion, from their backstories (like how Finka got that distinctive facial scar) to their full equipment loadouts. But, as with all Operators, their unique gadgets are what really make them interesting - and Operation Chimera is going all-in on a largely unexplored mechanic that make Finka and Lion stand out. For starters, we're getting two Attack Operators in an update for the first time (so two Defense Operators are guaranteed for the following expansion to keep things nice and symmetrical). Both of their gadgets revolve around the idea of a global ability - a concept first trialed in Siege by Dokkaebi, the South Korean hacker from the 707th Special Mission Battalion who quickly became a fan favorite after her debut in the Operation White Noise update. Just as Dokkaebi's Logic Bomb can distract all enemies on the map by (figuratively) blowing up their phones, Finka and Lion both use gadgets that benefit their entire team, now matter how close or far they might be. As you can imagine, that's an incredibly powerful effect in a game where coordinated actions are crucial - but these new abilities are more balanced than you might initially think.

Let's start with Finka. Her gadget is technically applied to all teammates at the start of a match: muscle-regenerating nanomachines coarse through the blood of your and everyone on your team, and can be activated at any time. On your command, your entire team will get a health boost for a limited time - and if anyone's been injured to a Down But Not Out state (i.e. crawling around after taking near-fatal damage), Finka can automatically rescue her downed allies from anywhere on the map by popping her ability. It sounds like that'd make her automatically superior to beloved medic Doc, but there are subtle drawbacks to Finka's version of a revive. For starters, downed teammates will rejoin the fight with a mere 25 health, which eventually reduces down to 5 - enough so that pretty much any bullet or nearby explosion will kill you instantly. And while I didn't encounter this scenario in-game, the developers revealed a fascinating way to counter Finka's tech. Because her nanomachines amp up your heart rate, your Operator is suddenly pumping blood and breathing in faster. If you're unlucky enough to trigger a Lesion spike trap or wade through Smoke's gas cloud, your body will actually take in these highly harmful substances faster if Finka's buff is still on you. It's a brilliant nuance to fighting as or agaisnt Finka - I just hope those subtleties can be clearly messaged to players (especially during the intensity of your average Siege match).

Though Finka's global ability is a fun way to support your squad and facilitate a push, I'm way more stoked on Lion's special skill. Once you've selected Lion, his EE-One-D drone (which brings to mind a Star Wars droid every time I hear the name) automatically takes to the skies above the map. Unlike Echo's flying drone, you never see through the EE-One-D's perspective directly; rather, it gathers intel on enemy locations in an entirely new way. When Lion triggers his gadget and sends a signal to the drone he affectionately calls "Big Brother," a 3-second countdown clock pops up onscreen for Lion and his enemies. When the timer's up, the drone scans the entire map for movement (denoted by a with a guttural rumbling noise that I already love). If an enemy is moving during this scan, they'll be highlighted for your entire team to see (through walls and all) for a few moments. But all the opposing team has to do to negate this extremely influential effect is remain motionless for the few seconds that the drone is scanning. 

With every use (up to three per round), Lion's gadget creates an intense little game of red-light-green-light, as enemies scramble to get to safe cover before they're forced to stand still or give away their position. It's especially useful to deploy during a push onto the point, or while keeping a watchful eye over a planted defuser as it ticks down to your team's victory. With such a simple, built-in counter, Lion's gadget already feels nicely balanced - and could even shake up the meta in high-level play. Because of pro players' proficiency with drone control and map knowledge, Mute's typically a rare pick due his jammers having less impact at high level. But against a Lion, the jammers' short-range, gadget-disabling radius will also provide a small safe haven for any movement during the scan, which could make Mute a clever counterpick. 

In my experience, playing as either Finka or Lion already feels great - but Lion's gadget also feels great to play against, which is the best kind of Operator design. Anything that forces both sides to get creative or think quickly during an exciting, universally shared moment is good in my book. Both abilities also feel nicely balanced at this stage; many players seemed to assume that Dokkaebi's gadget would be overpowered before release, but global abilities turned out to be fairly straightforward to counteract - or use effectively - with the right knowledge and practice. Finka and Lion represent an exciting push by the Siege developers to expand their design space, and that kind of innovation is a good sign for all the Operators to come. You'll be able to siege as Finka and Lion when Operation Chimera debuts in the very near future, alongside the new co-op Outbreak mode.

For many of us, Rainbow Six Siege is a game that came and went. Though there was the standard Ubisoft marketing build-up prior to launch, some early stumbles and tepid critical reception combined with a dearth of content to shuffle Siege quickly out of the gaming zeitgeist.

But Ubisoft is nothing if not persistent, particularly when it has invested a great deal of money in a project, and in the case of Siege its doggedness has been rewarded. Ubisoft recently reported that the tactical team-based shooter has surpassed 20 million players and, even more impressively, attracts 2.3 million players every day. Every. Single. Day. For context, these are the sort of numbers usually reserved for blockbusters like Destiny or Overwatch, both of which crested around 30 million registered players.

So how is Siege doing it? How is a game that looked prime to disappear shortly after launch competing in a space crowded by the aforementioned heavy hitters, as well as the slightly more comparable Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and a glut of also ran shooters?

Relentless updates

Blood Orchid, the next expansion for Siege launching on August 29, marks its sixth large update, seventh if you include Ubisoft’s current initiative to improve connectivity and correct bugs and glitches. That’s a massive number of expansions for even the most ambitious, best MMO, and unheard of for a competitive shooter. Built into those expansions are almost 30 patches of varying size and complexity. And perhaps most impressively of all, every piece of expanded content has been absolutely free. Our own review on GR+, I'm sorry to say, simply doesn't reflect the Rainbow Six Siege players experience today because it's a very different beast to the one we played in 2015.

The steady drip of new content doesn’t just mean a greater likelihood to retain players already invested in the game, it also means there’s always something fresh to see for new and returning players. And for those who briefly dipped their toes in around the beta or launch, there’s a huge slate of new stuff to play with, from operators to gear to maps, as well as new modes and tons of new gameplay features. The new content shuttles players around the globe, from the US to the Middle East, Canada to Japan, and that international flair makes each new map feel distinctive.

Siege is a game that gets more attractive as time passes, but also continues to drop in price. If your goal is to build a massive, thriving user base, that’s a powerful combination to leverage. And in a cyclical, snake-eating-its-own-tail sort of way, a larger community means there’s always someone to play with, which is also vital for drawing in new players.

Stand-out gameplay

Even before the torrent of updates, Siege offered shooter fans an experience they couldn’t get anywhere else. Sure, there are some superficial similarities to CS: GO or to other tactical shooters, but Siege’s asymmetrical attack and defense, destructible environments, and bevy of gadgets and high-tech weapon attachments add a unique tactical layer on gameplay that can still get incredibly quick, dirty and brutal. The slow pace of methodical exploration and room-by-room advances build to moments of chaotic violence and relief.

Siege offers a kind of tension and claustrophobia that other games can’t replicate, putting players in tight environments and with limited intelligence on where their adversaries are lurking. It lends many of Siege’s maps the feeling of repelling a home invasion (or staging one), an atmosphere that feels closer to The Castle Doctrine than Call of Duty.  

Siege gives players an easily digestible taste of what games like Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds excels in, the tension of lying in wait for your prey or sweeping a location trying to ferret them out, but with a greater sense of control over your loadout and approach (and a heavy emphasis on teamwork). But also like Battlegrounds, these long cat-and-mouse encounters resolve in an explosive, satisfying frenzy of violence that challenges player’s abilities to react quickly and stay cool under fire.

Not only is this slow build up and violent punctuation great to play, but it’s thrilling to watch too, as you root for your team-mates from the comfort of your all-seeing death state. And don’t get me started on the adrenaline rush of being the last man-standing who takes on the entire opposition force and wins the most unlikely of victories. No other game can match such incredible underdog stories.

Community and continuity

Every online community will be plagued by its share of troublemakers and trolls; it’s the reality of living in a connected world and the increasing democratization of the internet. That said, Siege has a remarkably mature and conversational player base, a quality no doubt fostered by the necessity to communicate with your team in-game if you want to survive and succeed. 

Teams that don’t talk, or that are an assembly of five players intent on going solo, are easy pickings for a disciplined team in constant contact, planning together and continually providing information about enemies’ locations and disposition.  A lot of my time with Siege feels like eavesdropping on virtual SWAT strategy meetings. 

Even more appealing than a surprisingly engaged community are Siege’s myriad ploys to keep players hooked. All new operators to buy, upgradeable weapons, unlockable attachments, loot boxes with skins and limited-time cosmetics... there’s always some juicy new piece of content dangling just within reach to strive towards, and for the most part it feels worth the effort to snag it.

A complete, evolving package

Siege has always had solid, engaging gameplay, and Ubisoft has wisely recognized this and not toyed with the core formula too much. Instead, the publisher has continually built on that solid foundation and supported it with more stuff, more ways to play, and a commitment to sorting out issues as they arise. It’s a great example of a grassroots community growing up around a game that the developers seem genuinely committed to supporting and updating, a meeting in the middle of the devs and the players that’s created a juggernaut that just keeps gobbling up more, new players (and generating more cash as a result). It feels like everyone wins, almost all the time, and that is why 2.3 million people play the game every single day.

Level Up

If you want to survive in The Division's run down Manhattan, you'll need to level up your agent by earning as much XP as possible. As your Character Level increases you can equip better weapons and gear, which you'll need to take on the tougher enemies you encounter as you explore further across the map, as well as giving you a better chance of making it through the Dark Zone alive. Follow these tips and you'll be making progress towards the elusive level 30 cap in no time.

On A Mission

This may sound obvious, but the biggest source of XP by far is from completing main story Missions. Hover over one on the map screen and you'll see the huge rewards on offer, as well as an option to increase the difficulty - note that making the challenge harder won't increase the XP earned by finishing the Mission, but the higher level enemies you'll face mean you'll get more kill XP along the way. You can also replay previous Missions from the map screen, and although you won't earn that lucrative reward on subsequent playthroughs it's still worth doing to hoover up plenty of kill XP.

Security Service

When it comes to upgrading your Base of Operations, you should prioritise getting the Security Wing up and running. Once you've rescued Captain Roy Benitez and activated his wing back at base, you'll receive the Experienced Agent perk which grants a 10% increase to XP gained from all activities, thus speeding up your level increase for the rest of the game. If you unlock the Armoury and Barracks upgrades you'll also get the Combat Veteran perk for a 25% increase to XP gained from accolades, but as this costs a cool 1,500 Security Wing Supplies in total it'll be a while before this is possible.

Close Encounters

Another good source of XP is Side Missions and Encounters, and although Side Missions tend to be more the more lucrative of the two you should tackle either of them if you're passing nearby. To keep a decent supply of these side quests on the map, check in with the JTF Officer and read the Situation Board whenever you enter a Safe House, and keep opening up additional Safe Houses when you move into new areas for further sources.

Skill Shot

As well as collecting a baseline level of XP for killing enemies, you'll receive additional rewards for nailing head shots, chaining a series of kills together and other displays of shooting prowess. Do your best to avoid getting downed or killed during skirmishes, as you'll also receive bonuses getting through firefights without needing to be rescued or respawning.

Squad Goals

Teaming up with other players is a great way to increase your level fast, as more enemies appear when you tackle Missions as a group and their difficulty will be scaled up accordingly for more kill XP. Working together with one or more higher level player can also help you get through tougher Missions earlier than you'd be able to on your own, allowing you to access those sweet XP Mission rewards. If you don't have any friends available online to help out, remember there's always the matchmaking option to jump in with other agents.

Gear Up

As well as affecting your Firearms, Stamina and Electronics levels, the gear you equip has additional attributes to enhance your other stats. One of the Minor Attributes that can be attached to gear is Increased Kill XP, so if you prioritise equipping as many items as you can with this feature you can give your XP earning rate a serious hike.

Helping Hand

As you're walking the streets of Manhattan, keep an eye out for passers by who are automatically scanned on your screen as you get near them. These Civilians in need will ask for supplies, and if you can afford to spare a Soda or Energy Bar (you've got plenty to spare, right?) then a small XP bonus will be your reward. It's not much, but do it often and it soon adds up.

Gather Intel

Between Incident Reports, Phone Recordings, ECHOs and more, there are a huge number of collectible items to track down. Again, the individual rewards are modest, but with nearly 300 pieces of Intel in total you can make some serious XP gains by grabbing as many as possible. Check Your Stats

If you've been following the tips listed in this guide you should have given your XP earning rate a significant boost, and there's an easy way to see exactly how much effect your actions have had. Head to the Inventory menu, then tab over to the Character page and scroll down to the final Exploration category - here you can see the percentage of additional XP you'll receive for killing enemies and getting headshots, so check it regularly to ensure you're getting the biggest increase possible.

If you've spent any time exploring The Division then you'll have found plenty of weapons and gear scattered around Manhattan, as well as receiving them as mission rewards and purchases from vendors. However, there's another way of getting new items - crafting - which not everyone is familiar with. Crafting can be a great source of new weapons and gear to improve your arsenal, so follow this guide and you'll be building upgrades in no time.

Find blueprints

In order to craft an item, you first need to find a blueprint for it. These are normally acquired by completing side missions, and by highlighting the marker on the map you can see which blueprint you'll receive.

Find materials

The next thing you need for crafting is materials, in the form of Weapon Parts, Tools, Electronics and Fabric. You'll see these marked on the map when you get close to them - normally Fabric and Electronics are found in stores, Tools in garages/workshops, and Weapon Parts in locations such as police stations. You can deconstruct items you don't have equipped to receive materials by selection the appropriate option in the Inventory menu, and there are also Wing Upgrades you can purchase for your Base of Operations that give you a regular supply of materials for collection.

Get crafting

Once you have blueprints and materials, you can use the Crafting Station in your Base of Operations to make some new items. Scroll down the list of items to see their level and the range of damage or armour they'll fall into, as well as how many random bonuses will be assigned to that item. At the bottom of the screen are the Resource Requirements, and if you meet them you can craft the item, which will have stats and bonuses randomly assigned to it. If you're not happy with the outcome you can deconstruct the item, but be aware that you'll only receive back a portion of the original materials.

Material conversion

Materials are ranked in the same way as weapons and gear, with green being standard, blue for specialised and yellow as high-end. At the bottom of the Crafting Station menu you'll find a Material Conversion option, where you can 'trade up' five pieces of a material for one of the next level up, so if you find yourself short on a particular resource then this can help you reach your target.

If you find yourself running out of missions in The Division and your map starts looking rather barren, it might be the case that you need to unlock some more activities. To do this, head to any locked safe house and, after accessing it, talk to the JTF Officer and read the Situation Board inside. This will populate your map with new side missions and encounters, giving you plenty more activities to sink your teeth into.

Once you hit the player level cap of 30, this will also unlock Daily missions - these are harder versions of the main story missions and you get three of them to take on every 24 hours. Look for the missions markers which are no longer shaded out on your map to identify them, and you'll see confirmation that they are Daily missions if you hover over them. Complete these to earn new high end items and Phoenix Credits, which you'll need in order to purchase items from Advanced Weapons Vendors.

The Division puts you in the trendy hiking boots of a sleeper agent from an organization called the Division, with a mission to bring peace back to a chaotic, post-viral outbreak New York City. The open-world shooter is much more than your typical third-person action game: there is a vast world to explore, complicated co-op missions to accomplish, and high-value items to be crafted.

There’s so much to do in The Division, in fact, that it can be a little overwhelming. Sure, it's easy to follow the mission structure, but if you don't pay attention to the minutiae, you might miss out of some significant character-building bonuses. With the game still receiving regular updates and expansions, there's never been a better time to check out our Division survival tips then hit the streets of NYC.

Upgrading your Base of Operations' wings is extremely important

After the first few missions, you should have the three wings (medical, tech, and security) of your Base of Operations unlocked. From this point, additional combat abilities, passive perks, and specialized talents are unlocked by completing orange, green, and blue missions on the map and earning supplies in the respective medical, tech, or security wing. Once you collect more than 200 supplies for a wing, make sure you upgrade it. This way you can make use of the more powerful abilities, passive bonuses, free item drops that come as the upgrade rewards.

Safe houses are life savers

Walking through the dangerous streets of The Division's New York City can be quite daunting, and you probably wouldn't want to do it every time you need to reach a mission area. When you unlock a safe house, it provides you with a fast travel point, a weapon or equipment vendor, and additional missions in the vicinity. Each safe house contains a map of the immediate area and a JTF soldier that gives you a situation report. When you interact with the map and get the report, your map is filled with encounter events and side missions to complete. The encounters and side missions are excellent places to gather crafting materials, new gear, and experience points. If you're heading to a new area, seeking out a safe house is well worth your time.

You can find clothes everywhere

Armor and weapons aren't the only items that will make you visually stand out from the crowd; you can create unique outfits by finding pieces of clothing out in the near-abandoned city. You might be lucky enough to get a cosmetic item from a drop after a shootout, but a few other methods are highly likely to get you clothes. One of the easiest ways to find clothing is to wander into the many open apartment buildings and search dressers and closets for loot. Civilians will also approach you on the streets and ask for food or medical supplies and exchange hats, jackets, and other items. Just watch for your HUD to scan a citizen in question and give them what they ask for.

You can dismantle your junk gear instead of selling it

You're probably better off breaking down your gear for crafting materials than selling them for credits at a vendor. Weapons will give you weapon parts, armor gives you fabric, and you have a chance to get tools, electronics, and Division tech materials upon dismantling your attachments and other items. Once you have enough materials, you can start crafting more powerful weapons and gear at the crafting station in your base. If you do need the cash, there's a trick to selling all your unwanted gear all at once. Just mark the gear as junk and there will be a 'sell all junk' option at the vendor.

You get a blueprint if you complete all side missions in a district

Each of New York's districts has a safe house where you can receive various side missions from quest-givers. It's pretty easy to skip over some of these optional quests and just move on to the next zone, but if you complete every side mission and return to the safe house quest-giver, you'll get some bonus experience and a powerful equipment blueprint. Most of the blueprints are higher level than the completed zone, so you will actually be able to use your crafted gear in the next area.

There's a rewards vendor in your Base of Operations

If you have a Ubisoft account and have been playing the company's games, chances are you have some free goodies available from the Ubi store, like weapons skins and unique clothing. You just have to head over to the easy-to-miss Rewards Vender who hangs out in your Base of Operations. To find him, just head straight back from the entrance, pass the Tech Wing stairs, and he’ll be at the end of the hall.

You can mod your weapons and move good mods around

See those numbers pinging off enemies when you shoot them? These are the damage points you're inflicting on them, and although the higher the number the better (obviously) the colour of the points is also important - white is a standard hit, blue means you're hitting armour, orange represents a critical hit and red is a headshot.

Critical hits and headshots do the most damage, so you should always be aiming for orange and red hits. Tougher enemies with armour will have white bars above their health bar, and you'll need to deplete these before you can deal proper damage to them.

Get the Recovery Link signature skill as soon as possible

When you completely level up one of the medical, security, or tech wings in your Base of Operations, you can unlock a signature skill for the respective skill tree. As you approach the level cap, you'll want to have the medical wing's Recovery Link skill unlocked. It allows you to heal and revive your squadmates and overheal your team to boost their maximum hit points. Having the Recovery Link skill available when you're facing the hard-hitting elites of the end game is invaluable.

Purple items and higher have unique abilities

Once you start picking up the purple superior level weapons, you need to start paying attention to the abilities they possess. Each of the purple weapons has unique abilities that unlock only when you reach a certain threshold in your stats. If say, your firearms stat isn't high enough, you can manage the stats bonuses in your gear to meet the requirement. Don't get caught with an inactive purple ability.

You can use buffs and change grenades

If you are one to ignore the tooltips that pop up here and there between shootouts, you might not have realized that you can change your grenades and use food to boost your abilities. Holding left on the D-pad will bring up a menu of grenades to select, ranging from the standard frag to incendiary explosives. Also, holding right on the D-pad will allow you to access timed buffs by consuming food to increase healing rates, remove status effects, add damage buffs, or activate the different ballistics options such as explosive and incendiary bullets.

It's best to go to the Dark Zone around level 10

You can access the Dark Zone right from the beginning, but I wouldn't recommend it. Entering the lowest Dark Zone area (which has a player level bracket of 1 to 14) below level 10 puts you at a significant disadvantage. Not only are you at the mercy of higher level players, the enemy NPCs are at level 11. On top of the level difference, all of the items you can purchase at the DZ shop are level 10 and up. So, hang out in the PvE area and grab a few good guns before you delve into the Dark Zone.

Do your dailies

This is going back to MMO basics. Once you hit the PvE level cap of 30 you can start earning a special currency called Pheonix Credits which can buy the best gear, and begin doing daily missions. In order to get a hold of better guns and the credits you need to participate in the end game, you'll need to do the daily missions, which rework the story missions with tougher enemies, and the even more difficult challenge modes. This is going to be your primary means for getting gear that can compete with the end-game enemies and players, so it's well worth your time.

Christmas has come early, with a whopping 293 pieces of intel hidden throughout the city of New York, just waiting to be discovered. Sure, things are a little chaotic, but battling through the streets to find that special item is a grand holiday tradition. If you're not prepared to crack a few skulls, you're doing it wrong.

There are a total of 16 districts to explore in Tom Clancy's The Division, and each one has a small trove of collectible intel sprinkled over it. Gathering all of the pieces of intel in a category will unlock a reward - like a stylish new pom pom hat.

We've split the intel by district to save you running needlessly all over town, and denoted the level of each area so you know what to prepare for prior to heading in.

This is a nice low level area to ease you into things. There are 22 pieces of intel to ferret out in this district. You'll need to pick a locked door to find one of them, so make sure you keep at least one lock pick on hand.

Incident Report - Methods, Rioter Reports

The incident report can be found at the northeast corner of Chelsea Park.

Head east from the intersection of W 24th St and 10th Ave.

Head over to the broken window in front of the crashed police car.

You'll find a laptop containing the report on the floor, next to a JTF officer who's seen better days.

The phone recording is in the northwest corner of the district.

You'll find it on the section of W 26th St between Lincoln Highway and 10th Ave.

This back street has a couple of parking garages in. Head into the one that doesn't have half a car hanging out of it.

You'll need a lock pick for this one. It's just down the road from the phone recording we just picked up.

Continue down W 26th St, after crossing 10th Ave.

As you head down the road, you'll spot a large Rise 'n' Shine banner hung across the street near a car lot. Enter the building to the left, pictured above.

Pop up the stairs and pick the lock on the door.

The page from the Survival Guide is on the floor of the room directly ahead as you enter.

Missing Agent - Michael Trudeau

There are a few steps along the path to finding this piece of intel. Start off by heading to the southern edge of the Chelsea district.

Make your way to the intersection of 9th Ave and W 20th Street.

The first breadcrumb is right where the roads converge. Set off eastwards, in the direction the arrow is pointing.

Just down the road, you'll find an open manhole and the next marker. It's telling you to head down below street level.

After descending the ladder, you'll have to scooch down a second one. On the floor at the foot of it, you'll find the next marker, directing you down the left tunnel, towards the Pump Room.

Just around the corner, you'll spot the next marker, pointing towards the doorway on the left.

Through the doorway and to the right, you'll finally find the file of Michael Trudeau.

Phone Recording - Week One, Cab Drivers

Stick to the southern edge of the district to find the next phone recording.

Head to the area between W 20th and W 21st Street, and 9th and 8th Ave.

Look for the store advertising brakes, tires, and clutches.

Head inside and follow the path around to the right.

Head north from the last location.

The marker for the recording is on W 21st St, but we need to get ourselves to the Underground to actually pick it up. You'll find an entrance nearby, at the corner of W 21st St and 8th Ave.

Follow the steps down, and continue to head straight down to the platform below.

Cross the tracks to the opposite platform.

The recording is on the floor by the bench.

Once you're back topside, pop down the road to the east.

The recording is between W 21st St and W 22nd St, and 8th and 7th Ave.

On W 21st St, there's a scaffolding opposite a 24 hour shop. Go down the alley here.

Pop down the side of the quarantined building with the tubes spewing from the upper windows.

Head a little down W 22nd St to find the next one.

The echo is to the north of the contamination zone.

It's along W 23rd St, between 8th and 7th Ave.

About halfway down this section of street, you'll spot an American Grill with a number of police vehicles outside.

This is where you'll find the echo.

From where we picked up the echo on W 23rd St, look for an alley near the police vehicles.

The first page of the Survival Guide is in the northern part of the district.

You'll find it in a building along W 23rd St, between 9th and 8th Ave.

Look for the ambulance and head into the building next to it.

Enter the apartment at the foot of the second set of stairs.

Go through to the room on the left.

This phone recording is pretty close to the page from the Survival Guide that we just picked up.

It's between W 23rd and W 24th St.

We want to leave the building where we found page one of the Survival Guide via the back door, and turn right.

Echo - Shortcut

This collectible is in the alley behind the building we found page four of the Survival Guide in.

Exit the building we found the page in through the back door to access the area behind W 22nd St, between 9th and 8th Ave, and head left.

As you go past the various gardens, you'll spot one with a broken fence.

Echo - Goulash

We'll start off with the echo in the southeast corner of the district.

It can be found in the area only accessible via the Hudson Refugee Camp mission.

Shortly after you begin the mission, you'll go down a set of stairs and into the area above.

Walk forward a little to discover the echo.

If you're coming from finishing the mission, simply slide on down the rope at the end.

Make your way to 12th Ave, between W 33rd and W 34th St.

Head through the open gates.

Go left and through the next open gate.

The next piece of intel is just to the north.

It's of W 34th St, between 12th Ave and 11th Ave.

Approach the entrance of the car park above to find the first step in the chain, pointing you inside.

Continue up the next ramp.

The third and fourth markers will direct you around the corner and up the next ramp.

Go right at the top of the ramp.

Follow the marker to the corner indicated.

This page of the Survival Guide can be found hallway along the western edge of the district.

It's in a building along W 29th St, between 9th and 8th Ave.

You're looking for the doorway near the fire escape with a flag draped over it.

Go on up to the apartment on the top floor.

Once you're inside, pop into the kitchen on the left to find the page on the floor.

The last page in this district isn't too far away from the one we just picked up.

It's in a building off W 31st St, between 9th and 8th Ave. You can leave the building we were just in via the back door to cut though the back streets and get here a little quicker.

Enter the garage next to the electronics shop.

Head through the doorway on the left, at the end, and follow the stairs up to the next floor.

Go through the doorway on the right at the top of the stairs, then enter the hallway on the left. The first door on the right here is the server room.

After picking up the echo Heather Lau, part 2, you want to follow the marker and go around to the back of the apartment building.

Look for the fancy Christmas lights next to the truck advertising Jonns beer, and walk east.

The echo is along the eastern edge of the district, just outside of the Dark Zone.

Once you're inside, head towards the back right.

The echo is in the central area of the district.

It's in a building off 7th Ave, between W 39th and W 38th St.

You're looking for the apartment building next to Oak Loch.

Enter the flat at the top of the first set of stairs.

Go around to the left to activate the echo.

Missing Agent -  Gina Esteban

The trace will take us into the same building we just found the echo in.

The entrance is on 7th Ave, between W 39th and W 38th St.

We've skipped ahead to the second trace as it's just outside the apartment block we were in, next to the Oak Loch building. The first one is at the intersection of W 38th St and 7th Ave.

The third trace is at the foot of the stairs directing you up to the next floor.

Continue on through into the apartment.

The echo for the second part of the missing person mission is a little way to the west.

It's about halfway along W 39th St, between 8th and 7th Ave.

It's a little way in front of the truck parked in the road, outside of the Iranian Halal deli.

The last step in the missing person mission is one street over to the south.

Get yourself to the Underground entrance at the corner of W 38th St and 8th Ave.

Head down towards the station below.

Take the first right to reach the platform.

Some kindly soul has already pried up the manhole cover, so down you go.

Jump the fence to the left and climb onto the lower roof.

Take the stairs up to the next roof.

This echo can only be picked up during the Napalm Production Site mission.

After you've started the detonttion sequence, you'll be tasked with destroying the remaining napalm tanks, and the blue gates pictures above will open. Head inside.

It's off 3rd Ave, north of Gramercy Park.

Head through the open doorway beneath the blue awning, next to the theatre.

Go straight through and out the back.

The report is off E 24th St, near the intersection at the northeast corner of Gramercy Park.

Enter the CERA building at the intersection.

Go around the reception desk to the left.

Echo - Captured, Rogue Agents

Finding this echo is one of the objectives in the Police Academy mission, located in the northeast corner of the district.

&Just keep moving trough the building and you'll be asked to analyse the echo. The mission marker will lead you to the gym where you'll find it.

The recording is to the west of the intersection of E 23rd and 1st.

Go through the fence topped with barbed wire, next to the laundromat.

Head to the wall at the back and turn left.

Go around to the left to find the alley leading behind the stairs.

To reach this page, we have to step outside of the district temporarily to the intersection of E 23rd and 1st Ave.

Enter P. Wallen and go through to the back exit.

When you leave the building, go around to the right.

Scale the wall and climb up the ladder here.

Continue climbing upwards.

You'll find an open window up here. Hop through.

Head north from the intersection.

You'll find the echo in the middle of the road.

There's a medical centre here.

Crashed Drone - Basketball

To reach the drone, head north from the intersection of E 22nd and 3rd.

Go down the side street between the two apartment buildings.

Climb the ladder at the end, and climb up again to reach the roof.

Go down the stairs to the right.

Time for some more climbing, up to the next roof.

Straight ahead of you, you'll find a ramp. Use it to reach the level above.

Go straight on and around to the right.

You can shoot down the drone from here if you like, but continue along the walkway and climb up at the end.
