Not only does it bring a region for us to explore with the Wishblossom Mountains in tow, but it brings horses – and more importantly, horseback riding – as well. As usual, there are a few fresh faces we can expect to run into while playing through the expansion, including Snow White and Tinker Bell.

They're not the only nostalgia-inducing classic Disney characters to join our Valley, though. There's also the ever-bouncy Tigger and the undeniably fashionable villain Cruella De Vil. On top of the more human and anthropomorphic figures gracing Wishblossom Ranch, a few other equine-inclined icons make an appearance: Tangled steed Maximus, Mulan's Khan, and, last but certainly not least, the noble Pegasus from Hercules.

Gameplay-wise, Wishblossom Ranch follows the familiar cozy formula its predecessors have – with an equestrian twist, of course. We're tasked with helping our new friends reverse a mysterious, destructive phenomenon, the "Decay," completing quests and puzzles along the way. In addition to more typical Disney Dreamlight Valley DLC adventuring, we also get to care for horses (brushing, feeding, betting, etc.) and ride them.

Now, I don't know about you guys, but as someone shamelessly obsessed with Barbie Horse Adventures, this sounds like the perfect way to unwind and wait for more wholesome game goodness come Animal Crossing's winter patch. Plus, the whole ranching aspect adds yet another layer of Stardew Valley-esque vibes to Disney Dreamlight Valley – what more could a farming and life sim-loving girl ask for in 2025?

Overall, fellow fans seem pretty happy with the expansion, too. The Steam page shows it has "Mostly Positive" reviews so far, with one writing it's "the first expansion that actually feels different from the main game." Another player exclaims, "It's already my absolute favorite expansion," citing customizable mounts as why. My personal favorite piece of feedback, though, has to be, "Man, I love horses." Me too, pal. Me too.

If you're as interested as I am, the Wishblossom Ranch DLC starts at $29.99 and is available on all consoles and PC. Earlier this week, we got a brand-new update for Disney Dreamlight Valley called 'DreamSnaps'. This update brings new challenges to the life sim, but more importantly, it adds Wreck it Ralph character Vanellope von Schweetz. If you're not familiar, in the movie, Vanellope comes from an arcade game called Sugar Rush where she's excluded by the other characters for being a 'glitch' and disrupting the game for players.

So it's pretty ironic - as pointed out by @GennaBain on Twitter - that shortly after the DreamSnaps update was rolled out, Disney Dreamlight Valley hit a snag and glitched, preventing players from logging into the game. We're not saying that Vanellope caused it, but we also can't blame the girl for simply doing what she knows. Thankfully, it didn't take long for Gameloft to roll out a fix that should have players able to log in fine now.

DLV was updated yesterday, adding Vanellope von Schweetz and there’s a glitch preventing many users from logging into the game.
Magical Animal Crossing-like Disney Dreamlight Valley adds Wreck it Ralph's Vanellope von Schweetz, who does what she's known for and glitches the game.

We're surprised Disney Dreamlight Valley developer Gameloft didn't see this one coming.

Excellent quality of life features mean a whole lot less faff than Nintendo's life sim though; your watering can is never empty, tools never blunt or break, and stamina can be renewed by munching down on a handful of berries – which are plentiful around the Valley. There is a day and night cycle that's linked to your own, but very little is limited to waiting for the next physical day, a la Animal Crossing. And what's more, Gameloft is already smoothing the slightly rough edges that the game arrived with at its initial Early Access launch back on September 6, with updates, patches, and more to address community feedback.

Fast Facts: Disney Dreamlight Valley

Release date: Early Access on Sept 6, 2022. Daily tasks that constantly replenish are great for quick wins, and are also complemented by longer-term goals like getting all your friendships to a certain level or farming a certain amount of vegetables. The more you unlock in terms of areas and characters, the easier it is to earn more Dreamlight, which is a nice touch.

Other currencies include good old-fashioned money, which can be obtained through selling the items you gather or grow, and there's also XP which can be earned by ticking off tasks given to you by the various Disney and Pixar characters that you'll befriend.

You've got a friend

If you want to fill the Valley with your favorite heroes and villains, you'll need to deal with a phenomenon known as The Forgetting. This happens mainly through unlocking themed Realms using Dreamlight. Although the Dream Castle is pretty packed with doors to each of the Disney and Pixar universes, there are only four Realms available at the time of writing – Moana, Ratatouille, Frozen, and Wall-E. Each Realm offers at least one character to coax back to the valley, and they come complete with their own storyline and set of quests that directly reflect the movies they're born out from. Whether you're cooking with Remy or exploring with Moana, it's always a nice surprise to see what adventure each Realm will take you on.

Admittedly, the Realms are more compact than I imagined they'd be – particularly poor Wall-E's – but you'll nevertheless find yourself returning to them as you begin to complete each character's quests and level up your friendships with them. This is key to progression in Disney Dreamlight Valley, as simple acts of kindness – like hanging out, exchanging gifts, and simply checking in on your new buddies every day can help take your friendships to the next stage. Doing this will not only give you fun quests to carry out, but it also gives you access to themed items and outfit options for each character. Interestingly, some of the quests can also unlock a new tool upgrade that can help clear an obstacle or access a new area. None of that is made that clear, unfortunately, but it's a fun surprise when something unexpected happens by spending more time getting to know someone.

A whole new Valley

The final piece of the whole 'living alongside my favorite Disney characters' fantasy to life is some truly brilliant dialogue and narrative flourishes. . Disney Dreamlight Valley isn't afraid to have some fun with these iconic figures, and even have a laugh at their expense, all the while making great nods to those who know the associated movies inside out. It's this attention to detail that makes Disney Dreamlight Valley feel like a sim for Disney fans of all ages. Accessible enough for the younger generation, the personality to appease older Disney fans, and the depth to offer a viable alternative to games like Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley. .

Disney Dreamlight Valley also has something else to compete with those games too – it's Star Path feature. It's essentially Disney Dreamlight Valley's answer to a Battle Pass, and is available to buy using premium (aka real-money) currency. It gets you access to exclusive cosmetic items themed around a specific area and each one lasts a month before it resets. The first was Pixar themed, for example, and October's has a decidedly more spooky theme. Thankfully that premium currency is bundled in with the various Early Access bundles you can buy, but if you're on Game Pass (where you don't get any premium currency for free), you can still earn it. The good thing is, either way though, it's entirely optional, and the cosmetics are grouped in a way that you don't have to unlock every single item to get the thing you want higher up the chain. It's surprisingly fair, and I hope that continues throughout the game's lifetime.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is a really interesting addition to the live service game space. It's fun, offers up plenty of content, and it's well thought out. Designing and planning out how you want your Valley to look is also very moreish, and I wonder if it will spawn the same kind of community engagement there as Animal Crossing: New Horizons did. After all, island planning is a serious business, but now it's infused with Disney magic. There are still some quirks and bugs to iron out, but that's what this Early Access period is for (the full game launches as a free-to-play title in 2023). I can't wait to see where it goes from here.

Scar update

Scar has arrived in Disney Dreamlight Valley with the October 19 update, and although it runs the risk of moving the dial towards the villainous, it's actually a welcome relief to see his snarl looming across the plains. This is the first major update for the game since its Early Access launch, and adds not only Scar himself but a new storyline to explore.

His home has been added to the Sunlit Plateau, so there's no need to go through a realm or another quest to unlock him. Along with his own friendship quests, his core narrative is a new expansion of the main story and involves going deep into a mine, crafting explosive ginger beer, and working with Merlin. It's pretty fun, and one of the more complicated story quests available in the game so far. However, it's also one of the first to use real-world days as a marker for mission progression. It's admittedly a little jarring as none of the other missions have taken several actual days to complete, so it's an interesting glimpse into what else Disney Dreamlight Valley will do in the future.

There's another larger Disney Dreamlight Valley update dropping in "late Fall" that will introduce a new Toy Story Realm, additional characters including Buzz and Woody, and more. However, Scar's presence has served as a good stopgap, particularly when it comes to better incorporating the Sunlit Plateau area of the map, which previously was little more than a space to gather unique resources.

Disney Dreamlight Valley was reviewed on PC (and Steam Deck) using a code provided by the publisher.
</dc:content>

Disney Dreamlight Valley is like Animal Crossing with more story and less waiting.

As mentioned in the tweet above, this is just the start of Disney Dreamlight Valley. Earlier this week, the game's developer Gameloft revealed a roadmap that includes a The Lion King and Toy Story-themed updates, both due before the end of the year.

In other Disney Dreamlight Valley news, Gameloft also rolled out the game's first official patch this week, which has made minor changes to the game, including balance adjustments, bug fixes, stability fixes, altered customization options, and more. Will got into games journalism after realising he didn’t particularly like writing local news when he started his journalism degree at Kingston University London. Making it his mission to combine his gaming interests with his degree, Will spent three years tenuously linking university projects to video games, contributing several news stories and features to student-run gaming site, startmenu, and being one of the news editors for the university’s newspaper, The River. After graduating in 2020, Will got into freelance guides writing in February 2021 and spent five months at Game Rant, during which he wrote about Apex Legends, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and a lot of Destiny 2 – too much, one might say – including guiding players through Raid encounters, weekly challenges, and quests. Since August 2021, Will has been over here at GamesRadar+, writing more guides and coordinating coverage with the rest of the team for service titles, including Warzone, Fortnite, and Destiny 2, and some of the biggest releases, such as Halo Infinite, Elden Ring, and God of War Ragnarok, with much more to come. However, he is no doubt still spending far too much time doing space magic stuff in Destiny 2 and trying to claw his way to Apex Predator in Apex Legends.</p> </dc:description>

Disney Dreamlight Valley does not have multiplayer at the moment, so there is no way to visit friends or other players and explore their valleys. However, the game is still in its early access phase, so it's more likely that multiplayer capabilities will come with or after the full release in 2023. We’ll update this guide as soon as we get any official details on multiplayer features for the game from Gameloft. For now, here’s what we know about Disney Dreamlight Valley multiplayer and when it could come to the game.

Does Disney Dreamlight Valley have multiplayer?

Disney Dreamlight Valley

Get around quickly with fast travel in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Disney Dreamlight Valley does not currently have multiplayer and, by the sounds of things from this IGN article, will not have multiplayer during the current early access period. However, developers Gameloft are planning on implementing multiplayer to the game at some point in the future, although we don’t know when this will be. Disney Dreamlight Valley released into early access on September 6, 2022 and will fully launch as a free-to-play game sometime in 2023, so multiplayer could arrive this year.

When multiplayer does eventually launch for Disney Dreamlight Valley, we expect it will be similar to how it works in Animal Crossing: New Horizons – players can add friends and then visit their Dreamlight Valley to hang out, interact with Disney villagers, and explore. You might even be able to help each other by exchanging gifts of valuable resources or items needed for quests.

While multiplayer features won’t be coming to the game for a while, Disney Dreamlight Valley has received several content updates, including a small Lion King-themed update that introduced Scar and a more substantial Toy Story update that added even more Disney Dreamlight Valley characters. Early access will begin on all platforms simultaneously, while the full, free-to-play game is expected sometime next year after a stay in early access.

The early access FAQs posted to Steam and the Epic Games Store shed some light on what's planned for Disney Dreamlight Valley's initial launch. The game will be in early access for at least six months, but its final, finished launch is still to be determined.

"At the launch of Early Access, the game will offer gamers a single-player experience, in addition to a few online features to allow players to share in-game content on real-world social network sites," the blurb reads. "We are committed to creating a game that is reactive to the needs and wants of the players, evolving over the life of the game. For now, the game features an ability to take selfies with Disney- and Pixar-inspired characters and easily share them on real-world social network sites."

The early access version promises life sim elements blended with "a solo campaign and a unique friendship system" that leverages its cast of characters.

Outside of Xbox Game Pass, early access to Disney Dreamlight Valley is tied to a paid founder's pack which comes with some bonus in-game currency and cosmetics. The founder's pack wasn't mentioned during today's Nintendo Direct, nor has it officially been priced just yet.

Gameloft has notably stressed that "the game features no monetization mechanisms such as a paid Energy system or gameplay time skipper," instead focusing microtransactions on "cosmetic or paid game extensions."

Update: You can now read our full Disney Dreamlight Valley review following its entrance into Early Access on September 6.
</dc:content>

Early access to The Sims-esque life sim Disney Dreamlight Valley opens September 6 on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, and Xbox One.

As developer Gameloft unveiled during today's third-party-focused Nintendo Direct Mini, Disney Dreamlight Valley will be playable at the tail end of summer.

Needless to say, our expectations for NOVA 3 were lukewarm at best – so imagine our surprise when we laid eyes on graphics that looked less like Quake and more like Crysis. It's got the same magnetic presence of Infinity Blade: watching someone play it makes you itch to try it yourself, and seeing the gorgeous graphics on a miniature screen never ceases to impress.

Crysis comparisons will spring to mind for anyone who’s played it – the protagonist’s body armor looks nearly identical to the nanosuit, and the half-robot-half-red-alien-tendrils enemy designs could easily be stunt-doubles for the baddies of EA’s blockbuster franchise. But if you’re going to copy something, then Prophet’s cityscape adventures aren’t a bad place to start. Whereas the earlier games in the NOVA series looked more like Unreal 2, Gameloft’s proprietary engine pumps out beautiful graphics that rival the techno-wizardry Crytek uses to craft their games.

You play as Kal Wardin (no, he's not a Green Lantern), the hero of the previous games who finds himself shipwrecked in the alien warzone known as San Francisco. Voltarites (the brutish extraterrestrials in question) are tearing Earth apart, and the NOVA team is doing their best to defend it, one checkpoint at a time. Though it looks like Crysis 2, the gameplay felt more along the lines of Duke Nukem 3D (the classic PC shooter, not the recent trainwreck Forever). With plenty of indoor and outdoor areas, shootouts that make each shotgun blast to an alien’s chest feel fulfilling, and a grip of use-them-or-don’t power-ups, it’s got all the soul of Duke’s run-‘n’-gun action with a much shinier coat of graphical paint.

When it comes to playing first-person shooters, nothing comes close to the control afforded by a mouse and keyboard. That said, the touchscreen controls aren’t too shabby: left thumb for running and strafing, right thumb to look around, aim down the sights, reload, and activate your powers (okay, perhaps the right side of the screen can get a touch too hectic). “Powers” in this case mean the same canned abilities we’ve seen in previous FPS games, though it doesn’t make them any less fun. The force push, paralyzing shot, and bullet-time powers break up the pace of gunning down enemies, and come in handy when fighting the hulking Voltarites known simply as Skullcrushers. We also got our hands on a multitude of weapons, with the shotgun, plasma gun, and rocket launcher making it particularly satisfying to vaporize aliens into a fine red mist.

While Gameloft wasn’t ready to talk price, this definitely-not-free app will come packed with 10 levels (totaling around six hours of gameplay) and 12-player multiplayer complete with six modes and unlockable perks. From our playthrough of two levels, it already felt like it could be the next big thing on iOS and Android, and with a release slated for May, it won't be long before you're able to get your fingers on it.
</dc:content>

It achieved all that with the Unreal Engine, which Epic brought to mobile platforms for the first time. Now, Gameloft is looking to push that envelope forward on Android devices.
Blah, blah, blah Gameloft. Yadda, yadda, yadda Zelda clone. Now that we have the formalities out of the way, perhaps you'd like a look at the promising announcement trailer for Gameloft's upcoming action-RPG epic, Sacred Odyssey: Rise of Ayden, coming soon to iPhones, iPads and Androids.

Billing itself as the most "ambitious Action RPG ever released on the iOS," Sacred Odyssey tells the tale of a young warrior hand selected by a god to collect a bunch of things, kill a lot of creatures and protect the Kingdom of Lasgalen from a pesky apocalypse. You know, the usual. As evidenced by the video below, the game will be heavily -ahem- %26ldquo;inspired%26rdquo; by Nintendo's Zelda series; at least where its music, elemental dungeons, horseback riding, character designs, item utilization, themes and swordplay are concerned.

Sacred Odyssey: Rise of Ayden is due out in early 2011.
