After spending 11 years in development hell, a TV series based on the popular Image comic Sex Criminals is finally moving ahead.

The eight-episode series, created by Emily V. Gordon (The Big Sick), Kumail Nanjiani, and Tze Chun (I'm a Virgo), is set to premiere exclusively on Prime Video under Margot Robbie's LuckyChap production banner. Per Deadline, Imogen Poots stars as Suze, a "normal girl with an extraordinary ability: when she has sex, she stops time. One night, she meets Jon (John Reynolds)… who has the same gift. And so they do what any other sex having, time-stopping couple would do: they rob banks."

The first issue of Sex Criminals, written by Matt Fraction and illustrated by Chip Zdarsky, first hit shelves in 2013 and ran for six volumes through 2020. After the comic received two Eisner awards in 2014, Fraction signed a deal with Universal Television in 2015. Over the last 11 years, however, there have been little to no updates... though the project was still thought to be in production.

Poots most recently starred in Kristen Stewart's directorial debut, The Chronology of Water, based on the memoir of the same name by Lidia Yuknavitch, though she'll always be Conner 4 Real's fiancée Ashley Wednesday in my heart of hearts and you should absolutely watch Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping if you haven't already. John Reynolds played Officer Callahan across 16 episodes of Stranger Things, though he's probably best known for his role as Drew in TBS's Search Party.

Following the success of Ted season 2, Seth MacFarlane says he and the cast are ready for more... but that it's all up to the bird.

"It really is up to Peacock with their, you know, vast amounts of big Scrooge McDuck money that they dive into every day," MacFarlane told Deadline. "I think all of us, in some form or another, whether it's a Season 3 of Ted or a direct-to-Peacock feature with this cast, is something I think we'd all be up for. It's all on the table."

Ted, based on the 2012 live-action movie starring Mark Wahlberg, has proved to be one heck of a TV show. The series hit Peacock in 2024, which stars Max Burkeholder as a young version of Wahlberg's John Bennett, and sits at a 74% Critic score on Rotten Tomatoes... but season 2 has a perfect 100% and has amassed over 1.6 billion streaming minutes.

This is partly due to star Alanna Ubach's Susan Bennett, John's aloof, innocent, and mild-mannered stay-at-home mother. Since the season premiered, clips featuring Susan have gone viral across the internet, with many calling her one of the most underrated comic actresses of our time (and I wholeheartedly agree).

MacFarlane is also pretty busy with a Family Guy movie, and another season of sci-fi comedy The Orville (and singing Christmas songs with Liz Gillies every year), but, given the success of Ted season 2, I could see him taking some time out of his schedule to make something happen.

A new trailer for Malcolm in the Middle: Life's Still Unfair has arrived – and it's more absurd than I could've ever even imagined.

In the brief clip, which can be viewed below, Malcolm's doing just fine some 20 years after the show's end, living a happy and nondysfunctional life with his daughter Lea (Keeley Karsten) and girlfriend Tristan (Kiana Madeira). The reason his life is so good, he says, is because he completely cut his parents and brothers out of his life some time ago... and doesn't want Lea or Tristan to know anything about them. This all comes to a head when Hal and Lois demand that Malcom shows up for their 40th wedding anniversary party, which, by the looks of the trailer, he reluctantly agrees to.

It also looks like Lea has been curious to get to know her dad's family, however, judging by a quick scene in the trailer where she's hiding under a table while on FaceTime with Hal (Bryan Cranston), Lois (Jane Kaczmarek), Dewey (this time played by Caleb Ellsworth-Clark), Reese (Justin Berfield), Francis (Christopher Masterson), his wife Piama (Emy Coligado), Jamie (Anthony Timpano), and youngest sibling Kelly (Vaughan Murrae).

It's worth noting that the four-part revival series is also bringing back Craig Lamar Traylor as Malcolm's childhood best friend Stevie Kenarban, Gary Anthony Williams as Stevie's dad Abe, and David Anthony Higgins as Craig, Lois's old coworker at the Lucky Aide.

Rick and Morty returns for its ninth season – and it looks like it's got AI in its sights this year.

As confirmed by Adult Swim, Rick and Morty season 9 premieres on May 24. The synopsis reads, "Rick and Morty is back, baby! Season Nine is all certified bangers. No AI slop! Just Grade A organic slop, made by real humans with real human traits like back hair and cysts. Please watch, or we'll have neglected our families for nothing."

The first look, which you can see below, features multiple images from the upcoming season. In them, Rick and Morty go camping; Rick drops in on a gnome-like hamlet with catastrophic results; Morty is shocked at what he sees, and Rick holds on for dear life as something goes very, very wrong in his garage laboratory.

A trailer arrives on March 12, which promises more of a glimpse at Rick and Morty's upcoming portal-hopping adventures. It's also the third consecutive season for voice actors Ian Cardoni and Harry Belden as Rick and Morty after the 2023 firing of Justin Roiland.

In a statement, Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen said, "I know it's my job to say that this show just keeps topping itself, but it also has the benefit of being true. It's kind of scary what this show unit is doing season over season – just pouring an absurd amount of talent and brilliance into these episodes."

With Rick and Morty once again diving into mind-melting, personal territory for everyone's favorite anarchic grandfather-and-grandson duo, we can perhaps expect more high concept hijinks and a gut punch or two.

A Rick and Morty spin-off, starring Keith David's President Curtis, is also on the way.

The first trailer for Beef season 2 is here – and it's all couples, country clubs, and chaos. Though if you tuned into the first chapter, that last part is unlikely to shock you...

While that saw Steven Yeun and Ali Wong's verbally (and sometimes, physically) beat the heck out of one another following a fairly innocuous road accident, the second installment centers on another feud: Oscar Isaac's Josh and Carey Mulligan's Lindsay vs. Charles Melton's Austin and Cailee Spaeny's Ashley.

As the 85-second promo hints, happy-go-lucky Austin and his fiancée Ashley work at a fancy golf resort. But when the newly-engaged youngsters unwittingly witness one of their manager's explosive, violent fights with his wife, the power dynamics between the quartet threaten to shift dramatically. Things are made more complicated, too, by the involvement of the club's billionaire owner Park (Minari's Youn Yuh Jung), who is struggling to keep a lid on her and her second husband's (Parasite's Song Kang Ho) own scandal.

The more vacation-style setting, characters working as lower-level staff, and its focus on wealth divide can't help but make me think of The White Lotus, which is no criticism. See for yourself above.

"The intention with Beef was always to have it in anthology. We wanted the feeling of this season's beef to be a bit more passive-aggressive," showrunner Lee Sung Jin previously told Tudum. "It's more about the internal repression of rage that you see in the workplace."

"Austin and Ashley think all they need is each other and the beach. So when we meet them, they are thrust into intersecting with our millennial couple," Lee continues, noting that Josh and Lindsay have been together for many years by the time we meet them. "It'll be interesting to see with these two how they react to life's first real struggles."

Nirvanna the Band the Show stars Matt Johnson and Jay McCarrol have revealed that creating their iconic Wii Shop Update Day song wasn't even a full day's work from start to finish.

"That entire video was written, edited, and put on the internet within about five hours," Johnson told IGN.

The sketch was part of the pair's web series, which was released online between 2007 and 2010. In this particular episode, Jay improvises a whole song set to the music on the Wii Shopping Channel – to Matt's irritation.

"We were sitting there trying to figure out… We saw the title, ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron, it had just been released because at this time Nintendo was dropping, like, Sega Genesis, it was the Wild West," Johnson continued.

"Like, to be a Wii owner, it was unbelievable. And so we're looking at all of these titles of games that we never played because I was literally region locked out of Sega. I was not allowed to play Sega Genesis games because I think my parents saw, like, two seconds of Altered Beast and were like, 'That's enough!'... We saw that ToeJam & Earl had dropped and we were like, okay, we must put this in this song and trying to figure out what the hell rhymes with Funkotron."

"This is why, when I'm singing it, you can see that I'm barely able to even get around it," McCarrol added. "And they're holding up the words that we've scribbled down right off screen."

The webseries eventually got a TV adaptation in 2017, also titled Nirvanna the Band the Show, which aired for two seasons on Viceland. A movie premiered last year and was given a limited release in February.

Seth MacFarlane has provided updates on the continuation of two live-action series he's involved with – but one is far more promising than the other.

Despite being radio silent for four years, sci-fi comedy The Orville – which follows the interstellar adventures of the USS Orville and its crew – could be back for more episodes.

"I will be honest with you: season four is written," MacFarlane told The Hollywood Reporter. "It’s just a question of when we have the time to produce it."

MacFarlane added, "I’m the problem. It’s [a matter of] when I can make that my year, with all the other stuff we have in the works. But we can hit the ground running when it happens."

The Orville first premiered in 2017 on Fox and a second season swiftly followed. The series being put on ice isn't new, however; a third season took another three years to arrive.

While we're likely to see Captain Mercer back on the bridge before too long, the same can't be said for the Ted series, the prequel to the two Mark Wahlberg-starring comedies.

In a separate interview with Screen Rant, MacFarlane said there are "no direct plans" for Ted season 3. A second season, featuring Max Burkholder as a younger John alongside MacFarlane's foul-mouthed bear, is premiering on March 5. An animated series has also been mooted.

MacFarlane's busy schedule has also put paid to a Family Guy movie, with the creator of the hit animated series explaining during a 2024 PaleyFest panel, "I have known what that movie will be for the past 15 years and I just haven’t had the time to get to it, but I do know what it will be." Apple TV has cancelled Palm Royale after just two seasons.

According to Deadline, the Kristen Wiig-led comedy-drama will not return for a third season. Loosely based on the novel Mr. and Mrs. American Pie, the series stars Wiig as Maxine Dellacorte-Simmons, who is obsessed with being among the high society of Palm Beach, Florida in the 1960s and attempts to get into the town's most exclusive country club, the Palm Royale. It's sort of like Mad Men-meets-Barb and Star go to Vista Del Mar.

Created by The Eyes of Tammy Faye screenwriter Abe Sylvia, the cast includes Ricky Martin, Josh Lucas, Leslie Bibb, Amber Chardae Robinson, Laura Dern, Carol Burnett, and Kaia Gerber. Patti LuPone and John Stamos made cameo appearances.

The show hit Apple TV Plus in March 2024 and was swiftly greenlit for a second season, which premiered in November 2025. The first season received 11 Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Wiig, and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Burnett. It ended up taking home the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music (though it also absolutely deserved to take one home for costuming). Wiig also received a nomination for Outstanding Female Actor in a Comedy Series at the 2026 Actor Awards for her work in season 2.

Community movie co-writer and executive producer Andrew Guest is offering an update on the film's status, and it's a bit of a mixed bag for fans. Though Guest confirms the intent to make the Community movie is still in place, an opportunity to start filming the long-awaited spin-off of the fan favorite comedy sitcom passed them by due to unforeseen circumstances.

"We got very close to shooting that," Guest tells The Watch podcast. "As the writer strike and actor strikes were ending, all of our cast were available. All of them wanted to do it. We had a line producer. We had a script that we were in the process of starting to rewrite. And one of our actors' projects sort of came into conflict in terms of timing. I don't want to single that person out because people will shame them - you know the Community fan base. And please, Community fan base, do not be upset with any of these people."

Just about all of the original cast is signed on for the Community movie, including Joel McHale (Jeff Winger), Danny Pudi (Abed Nadir), Alison Brie (Annie Edison), Gillian Jacobs (Britta Perry), Jim Rash (Dean Pelton), Ken Jeong (Ben Chang), Yvette Nicole Brown (Shirley Bennett), and Donald Glover (Troy Barnes). The only lead member of the original cast not signed on for the film is Chevy Chase, whose character Pierce Hawthorne was previously killed off when Chase left the show.

"It's hard because they're all incredibly talented and very busy, partly because of Community," Guest continues. "But we don't want to do an Arrested Development Netflix season situation where we're shooting some people totally apart. The fun and energy of that show is the chemistry between these people in the same room, around a table. So we have to have them all in the same place."

Community originally ran from 2009-2015, with major changes in the cast for the final season. Throughout, the show had a meta gag in which pop culture obsessed Abed would call for "six seasons and a movie" of his favorite shows. With six seasons under its belt, fans are anxiously awaiting the fulfillment of the last part of the mantra.

Smiling Friends creators Zach Hadel and Michael Cusack have revealed the show is coming to an end after two more episodes – despite a previous renewal.

"This is not a bit, this is not a joke," Hadel began in a six-minute statement posted on Adult Swim's Twitter account. "Michael and I are here to announce Smiling Friends will be ending after season three is done."

Cusack explained, "To be honest, after season three, Zach and I both had the same feeling where we felt pretty burnt out after putting years and years into this, but also pretty accomplished. We came to this feeling where we were like, 'this can just be it.'" You can listen to the full video below.

Smiling Friends, which revolves around a charity's bizarre goal to bring people happiness, found success with its absurdist, irreverent humor and outlandish scenarios. Among its most recent viral exploits was a razor-sharp takedown of The Simpsons' longevity.

Making the situation all the more sudden and puzzling is the news – revealed last year – that Smiling Friends had been renewed for a fourth and fifth season.

But perhaps we should have seen it coming. The creators, upon the last renewal, had been open about not going "stale."

In a separate interview with IndieWire last year, Cusack said, "We don't want it to be a show that outstays its welcome and goes on forever…. Zach and I have made a promise to each other where we'll always be honest and say, 'Look, do we want to keep going with this, or do we want to wrap it up on a high note?'"

That high note, then, appears to be now. The final two episodes of Smiling Friends will air on Adult Swim on April 12.

Scrubs is back doing rounds once more for a 2026 revival starring original cast members Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke, and Donald Faison.

But that doesn't mean it's going to be playing the old hits or, in Tony Soprano's words, engaging in the lowest form of conversation with 'Remember when?'

“For me, it’s not overdoing the nostalgia," Braff told The Ringer. "You have a few touchstones that the audience loves. But you’re building out new stories and new places in their lives. ... You're not just going, 'Oh, remember this? Remember that?' That gets old quick and also doesn't invite in a new audience."

To that end, the new Scrubs series invites in a clutch of new interns to Sacred Heart, as well as a meddlesome HR rep to put the kibosh on any of Dr. Cox's tough love teaching lessons.

There are small tweaks and callbacks, including a botched 'Eagle!' attempt and a modern update to Scrubs' iconic title credits sequence, but freshness remains paramount for the ABC and Hulu series.

Original series creator Bill Lawrence, onboard this time as producer, said, "Reboots work when it’s a new story."

Faison, who returns as Turk, added that the Scrubs return is "a revival of the way we were the first three seasons, when everything had heart."

Thus far, Scrubs has received mixed reviews upon its return, with one verdict stating that the reboot felt "forced." Despite that, it's currently sitting pretty with a 92% score on aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.

After 17 long years, the medical comedy show Scrubs is returning to our screens with its tenth season, but the revival seems to be dividing critics as reviews begin to pour in.

The vast majority of critics seem to have welcomed back the show with open arms, celebrating its return and commitment to what we loved most about the '00s hit. "This is a revival with real purpose," said TV Line's Ryan Schwartz. Collider writer Greer Riddell adds that season 10 doesn't try to "reinvent the wheel" but "leans into what made Scrubs so enduring — the absurdity, heart, and friendships that keep it alive."

Robert Ebert writer Brian Tallerico says that although "a lot of the 2026 Scrubs hinges on lingering affection for the original," the "timing seems more natural than a standard cash grab. The new cast is fun, the old cast slides back in where you left them, and the laughs come more regularly than most of the newest network TV sitcoms."

However, many are wondering if it should have been left in the past. "No calming bedside manner can get around the cold, hard truth: There is little life to be found in the 10th season of Scrubs," said Chase Hutchinson from The Seattle Times, adding that the reboot feels "forced." Similarly, Variety's Alison Herman describes the comeback as "millennial cringe," writing, "Why watch a season that tries to stick as closely to the original as possible when you can just watch the original itself?"

Alas, the revival has landed a respective 87% score on Rotten Tomatoes, which brings the series back to its heyday and is a big improvement from season 9, which earned 53%. Welcoming back original stars Zach Braff as Dr. John Dorian, Donald Faison as Dr. Chris Turk, and Sarah Chalke as Dr. Elliot Reid, Scrubs season 10 sees the trio return to the hospital for the first time in a long time, where they find that medicine has changed.

Harrison Ford says he wouldn't mind if his career ended after his time on the Apple TV comedy-drama Shrinking, which he calls a "very special" and nurturing experience.

"Where do you go from here? The kind of work that we’re able to do is remarkable given the tools we have to work with, and the notion that lies behind this series," Ford said during an Apple TV press day panel (via The Hollywood Reporter). "And if it was all over here, that would be sufficient. This has been a different kind of job for me, and I’ve been doing this for a long time. This is very special and it really nurtures me and makes me feel like what we’re doing has value and importance. I look for that in my life, and I’m happy to have found it here."

The series stars Jason Segel as Jimmy, a grieving and recently widowed therapist who starts to drop the "therapy speak" and start telling his clients exactly what he thinks (which is, uh, more or less unethical). Ford plays fellow therapist and colleague Paul, with whom he has quite the up-and-down relationship. The series was created by Segel, Ted Lasso showrunner and co-creator Bill Lawrence, as well as writer and Roy Kent star Brett Goldstein. The cast includes Christa Miller, Jessica Williams, Michael Urie, Luke Tennie, Lukita Maxwell, and Ted McGinley.

Ford started his career back in 1964, and became a global phenomenon thanks to his role as Han Solo in 1977's Star Wars. He would go on to become action-adventure hero Indiana Jones, and star in the Blade Runner film franchise. Since Shrinking's premiere in 2023, Ford has received several accolades, including his first-ever Emmy nomination. A fourth season was announced last month.

Hit comedy series Jury Duty is returning with a second season, as the setup moves from the courthouse to a company retreat. After a three-year wait, the show will be back on March 20 with new episodes, and a first teaser tells fans what to expect.

Officially titled Jury Duty Presents: Company Retreat, the documentary-style comedy series will repeat the same concept, focusing on a normal guy who is unaware that everyone around him is an actor. As the teaser (which you can see below) states: "In 2023, we gave you unprecedented access to a jury trial. But that was not a normal trial. It was fake… Now we're following a business on their annual company retreat. Except this is not a real company. It's fake. Everyone involved is an actor. Except Anthony."

The new season has big shoes to fill after the success of season 1, where Ronald Gladden reported for jury duty only to find himself unknowingly surrounded by actors. The show was an instant hit for Amazon Freevee, earning several Emmy nominations including for Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for the only famous actor in the cast, James Marsden.

Per the logline (via EW), Jury Duty Presents: Company Retreat "captures a corporate offsite event at a family-owned hot sauce company from the perspective of Anthony, a recently hired temporary worker. Unbeknownst to Anthony, the entire experience is staged, every colleague around him is performing a role, and each moment – whether in conference rooms or during downtime – has been meticulously orchestrated. As the founder prepares to step down, the getaway transforms into a clash between big corporate ambitions and small business values, with control of the company hanging in the balance."

With Freevee now closed down, the new season will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.

Christmas is coming early for Friends fans this year as the eight unaired episodes of the show's spin-off Joey are now available to watch online. The 2004 series, which focused on Matt LeBlanc's fan-favorite character Joey Tribbiani, was canceled by NBC before it could release all its episodes, and now we can finally see how the story continued.

Following the release of the first episodes of the show earlier this year, the Friends YouTube channel has now released the unaired episodes along with the 38 others that comprise the complete series, so you can start clearing up you schedule this weekend for a Joey marathon.

Released after the end of Friends, the spin-off series followed Joey as he leaves New York for Hollywood to take his acting career to the next level, reuniting with his sister Gina and his 20-year-old genius nephew Michael. LeBlanc was joined in the cast by Drea de Matteo as his sister and Paulo Costanzo as his nephew, along with Andrea Anders and The White Lotus star Jennifer Coolidge.

Although the show's first episode managed to attract attention (it debuted to 18.6 million viewers), fans stopped tuning in every week, and the network decided to axe it due to low ratings.

Producer and director Kevin S. Bright explained that the story was moving "in the wrong direction", and that might explain the early cancelation. "On Friends Joey was a womaniser but we enjoyed his exploits. He was a solid friend, a guy you knew you could count on. Joey was deconstructed to be a guy who couldn't get a job, couldn't ask a girl out. He became a pathetic, mopey character. I felt he was moving in the wrong direction, but I was not heard," he told The Age in 2006 (via Variety).

Reflecting on the enduring popularity of the hit sit-com, Friends star David Schwimmer told GamesRadar+: "What's really meaningful to me is when I'll bump into someone on the street and they'll say, 'I just want you to know, I was going through a really tough time, I was in the hospital,' whatever. 'And the thing that kept me going was watching Friends.' For someone I've never met to come up to me and say that something I did 30 years ago helped them through this really rough patch, is just… it's really moving, and I just feel really grateful."

HBO Max has renewed Tim Robinson and Zach Kanin's bizarrely hilarious comedy/drama The Chair Company for a second season (via Variety). The streaming service notes that the series is the "top freshman comedy in platform history," with 3.3 million viewers per episode across platforms.

In the series, co-creator Tim Robinson plays Ron Trosper, a corporate manager who finds himself sucked deeper and deeper into the world's most mundane conspiracy, offset by the madcap weirdos who inhabit The Chair Company's tilted reality.

Along with The Chair Company, HBO also announced the renewal of Rachel Sennott's I Love LA, another first season comedy currently streaming on the service.

"We're thrilled by the incredible response to The Chair Company and I Love LA," HBO & HBO Max comedy head and HBO programming exec VP Amy Gravitt says in a statement, while also noting The Chair Company's 100% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. "Both shows confidently carry on the HBO comedy tradition, in their own singular way. We couldn't be happier to continue collaborating with Tim, Zach, Rachel, and their exceptional teams."

The renewal is welcome news for me, as someone who has thoroughly enjoyed the surreal weirdness and absurd comedy of The Chair Company. It's remarkably gripping for how mundane the conspiracy at its center actually is, and it's something original in a landscape that feels saturated with reboots, prequels, and revivals.

If I have to watch another 8 episode limited series about a dejected cop (or gangster) with a troubled past trying to wrestle control from chaos while wallowing in his own guilty conscience, I'm going to immediately fall asleep for 100 years.

Thankfully, while a century-long nap might actually help a little bit, there's a balm for the increasingly tired concept of the TV strongman - Tim Robinson's bizarrely tense and hilariously absurd HBO series The Chair Company.

Centering on a satirical send-up of the ever-present TV strongman archetype, The Chair Company feels like a pointed antidote to the egotistic nature of its thriller genre thanks to a healthy dose of self-aware humor and social cringe that highlight the increasing abandon of its ultimately milquetoast lead.

It's something along the lines of The Man Who Knew Too Little, with co-creator and star Tim Robinson holding up his own oddball mirror to a society that seems bound and determined to trade the concept of a social contract for the right to pursue a personal vendetta.

It's maybe the last word I personally need on the strongman genre, and a perfect counterpoint to the endless stream of po-faced, guilt-ridden trauma cops that will likely never stop patrolling our TV screens.

The ghost of Tony Soprano

The trend of prestige shows that lionize the concept of a lone wolf going outside the law to accomplish bad but necessary things with unilateral force goes back to the early days of the idea of TV shows that elevate themselves above typical network dramas.

In many ways, Tony Soprano is the prototypical strongman archetype of a man whose values (twisted as they are) are constantly tested as he moves deeper into his own nonsense, while justifying the results of his actions as necessary evils

The concept seemed to reach its apex with the one-two punch of Breaking Bad and its spin-off Better Call Saul – masterpieces in the narrative of a seemingly well-meaning man falling into an increasingly amoral vortex of desperation and unforeseen consequences. It's hard to top Walter White and Saul Goodman as disturbed men driven to incalculable social destruction.

But that doesn't seem to stop anyone from trying. In the last few months, I've seen at least 5 limited series about cops who are so haunted by their dead children and past mistakes that they go off the rails making whatever compromises they believe are necessary to their self-validating ends.

The trope also lives in some of the most successful prestige dramas of the present TV landscape, such as the ever-dominant Yellowstone, a show about a salt-of-the-earth land baron patriarch and his family resisting the encroachment of the outside world into their idyllic territory. It's yet another angle on the concept, and in this case, one that showcases the inherent messaging of the strongman archetype – that it is necessary to use any means, even illegal and amoral ones, to accomplish a personal ideal.

The TV strongman deconstructed

Some of the ongoing crop of strongman-centric dramas have had their charms – Netflix's Wayward gets by on inverting some of the genre's gender dynamics and on the strength of the performances of the show's creator, Mae Martin, and the always captivating Toni Collette, for example.

Still, it's Robinson and his co-creator Zach Kanin's The Chair Company that truly beats the horse to death in a well-deserved mercy killing with its madcap lead Ron Trosper (played by Robinson himself), a corporate executive and family man who becomes obsessed with unraveling the Gordian knot of a furniture sales company with inscrutable secrets at the expense of his personal commitments.

It all starts with the most unlikely of circumstances - Ron's chair collapses during an important company presentation, embarrassing him in front of his peers. Determined to make a complaint about the dangers of the faulty chair, he begins to dive ever deeper into a surprisingly creepy rabbit hole of abandoned warehouses, mercenary short-order cooks, and hoarder houses. Meanwhile, the chair company itself is nested in a seemingly endless web of shell companies, fake websites, and other odd twists.

It's easy to see how Robinson's Ron Trosper fits the basic ideas of the TV strongman: an ego-driven personal goal, an increasing distance between his family and his peers, and a willingness to bend his own morals and even the law to achieve satisfaction.

Nonetheless, there's a typically satirical edge to Robinson's performance in The Chair Company with enough social weirdness and absurdly lyrical characters to compare the show to Robinson's previous TV triumphs, Detroiters and I Think You Should Leave, and his recent film turn in the Paul Rudd co-starring Friendship.

An oddball underdog

What makes The Chair Company such an effective deconstruction of the concept is the overall unnecessary nature of Ron's personal conflict, coupled with the surprisingly unhinged circumstances that occur as a result of Ron's obsession with figuring out exactly whose fault it is that he was made to look slightly foolish in front of his bosses and subordinates.

In some ways, a journey like Walter White's makes sense – his desperation at life-altering circumstances drives him to build an ever-expanding criminal empire that forces him to adapt to the violence of the moment. But for Ron Trosper, the stakes are nothing, and there is no impactful tragedy driving his Quixotic quest for answers about defective office chairs.

By removing the actual stakes of such a story while ramping up the madness at the heart of its all-too-sincere lead character, The Chair Company manages to illustrate just how futile the excesses of the TV strongman genre can be.

Ultimately, the only real risk is that Ron Trosper will go from temporarily embarrassed to permanently off-the-rails, a fitting parable for a TV landscape that often feels dominated by self-serious anti-heroes whose only relatable quality is carrying the same thousand-yard stare I get when I see a cop flashing back to fishing with his dead son.

In a way, that's what makes a character like Ron Trosper more relatable, and also makes The Chair Company far more relevant than a show that invents windmills for its protagonists to tilt at rather than letting their unstable lead characters build their own hallucinated giants to slay.

The hero we deserve

That feeling of petty personal drive is something most people have experienced in one way or another – an interior notion that demands addressing in an outward way, no matter how trivial.

What sets most of us apart from Ron Trosper, however, is Ron's elevation of that kind of personal peccadillo into ego-fueled vigilante determinism, an inability to turn away from the gulf of self-aggrandizing obsession.

For someone like Ron Trosper, that need to feel important in a nihilist world is all-consuming, an endless fall into a privately-tailored hellhole of anti-Streisand Effect obscurity, a retreat from community exacerbated by every attempt to exert a level of control.

Given the state of the real world, The Chair Company is a timely reminder to examine the idea of morally questionable individual quests for relevance at the expense of self-growth, and to ask ourselves if those are truly the heroes we need right now.

After 14 years, Scrubs is returning to ABC, and J.D., Turk, and Elliott are all headed back to Sacred Heart Hospital.

According to Variety, the revival season of Scrubs, starring Zach Braff, Donald Faison, and Sarah Chalke, is set to hit ABC and Hulu on February 25, 2026. Original creator Bill Lawrence (who would go on to helm Ted Lasso) returns as executive producer, with Aseem Batra as sole showrunner after Tim Hobert stepped down. Hobert and Batra both worked as writers during the show's original run.

Per Braff, the new season will focus on a hardened, wizened J.D. who "is 50 and has been beaten down by the system," adding: "It's very, very hard to be a doctor today" (H/T TVLine).

The returning cast also includes Judy Reyes as Carla, John C. McGinley as Dr. Cox, Robert Maschio as Todd, and Phill Lewis as Hooch. Though season 9 focused on a new class of young and upcoming doctors (Kerry Bishé, Michael Mosley, Dave Franco, Eliza Coupe, etc.) during their first year of medical school, the 10th season will see a brand new group of interns start at Sacred Heart: Ava Bunn as Serena, Jacob Dudman as Asher, David Gridley as Blake, Layla Mohammadi as Amara, and Amanda Morrow as Dashana. Vanessa Bayer and Joel Kim Boost will star as Sibby and Dr. Eric Park, respectively.

Now airing its third season, fan-favorite animated show Smiling Friends is set to continue for at least two more seasons, but that doesn't mean it will last as long as other beloved shows like The Simpsons and South Park. In a recent interview, the series' creators said they "don't want it to be a show that outstays its welcome."

"It's renewed for four and five now and we'll see how we feel at the end of that," the Adult Swim show's co-creator Michael Cusack told IndieWire during a conversation alongside his creative partner Zach Hadel.

"It could be a natural wrap-up then. Zach and I change our minds every day on this. We don't want it to be a show that outstays its welcome and goes on forever. But we're also very lucky to get this show up, so there's a nice little middle ground. Zach and I have made a promise to each other where we'll always be honest and say, 'Look, do we want to keep going with this, or do we want to wrap it up on a high note?' So we'll do Seasons 4 and 5, and see how we feel," Cusack continued.

Animated shows that managed to create a faithful fandom and find their place in popular culture have ended up having very long lives on TV. The Simpsons has been airing new seasons on Fox for the last 35 years, while South Park has just started its 28th season, and SpongeBob SquarePants and Family Guy (to name a few) have been going on for more than two decades.

Time will tell if this will be the fate of Smiling Friends or if, as their creators say, they will "wrap it up on a high note" instead.

After two seasons, Smiling Friends has become a must-see adult animated show thanks to its experimental animation, which sees a blend of different techniques like 3D animation, claymation, and puppetry.

The story follows employees who "work at a small company dedicated to bringing happiness to a bizarre yet colorful world," as per the official synopsis. "The company consists of cynical Charlie and star employee Pim, each tasked with out-calls to cheer people up. There's also meticulous Allan, who keeps things in order, mysterious Glep, and the unpredictable billionaire Boss, who founded the company."

Malcolm in the Middle actor Frankie Muniz has posted a reunion photo with his on-screen brothers ahead of the upcoming sequel series.

"I was told not to post this yet, but then I remembered the theme song," Muniz posted on Twitter, a reference to the We Might Be Giants 'Boss of Me'. "I'm just too excited for y'all to see the new episodes and I miss my brothers."

As you can see below, Muniz is pictured alongside an almost-unrecognizable Justin Berfield (Reese) and Christopher Masterson, who played troublesome older brother Francis in the comedy, which initially ran from 2000 to 2006.

Malcolm in the Middle will return as a four-episode miniseries where, years later, the boys of the boys attend Hal and Lois' 40th wedding anniversary celebrations. With their own children in tow and fraught family dynamics bubbling over, chaos will inevitably ensue.

One actor who won't be returning, however, is Erik Per Sullivan, who portrayed Dewey. Hal actor Bryan Cranston revealed earlier this year that Sullivan was asked to return but politely declined. His role will now be played by Caleb Ellsworth-Clark.

Speaking on the Lightweights podcast, Muniz reassured fans of the quality of the upcoming episodes, titled Life's Still Unfair.

"It’s hard to fit in 20 years of stuff in four 30-minute episodes, but I think people are gonna be very happy with what they came up with," Muniz said back in September.

New TV show The Paper may be spun off from NBC's hit series The Office US, but star Alex Edelman says "they're totally different shows," and that The Paper's manager character is more like Parks and Recreation leader Leslie Knope than Michael Scott.

"Our show is a little more Parks and Rec than The Office, in my opinion," said Edelman in an interview with Variety. "There’s a spirit of optimism to Ned Sampson that’s closer to Leslie Knope than it is to Michael Scott."

Set in the same world as The Office, The Paper follows he same documentary crew from Scranton as they head over to Ohio to follow a new editor-in-chief named Ned Sampson (Domhnall Gleeson) as he attempts to revive a failing Midwestern newspaper. From that description alone, you can see how Gleeson's manager is vastly different from The Office's Michael Scott, who spent more time pulling pranks and making 'that's what she said' jokes than trying to boost sales.

From seasons 1-7, The Office US starred Steve Carell as Michael Scott, the immature but well-meaning regional manager of the Dunder Mifflin Scranton Branch. The character is loosely based on Ricky Gervais's manager David Brent in the original UK-set series The Office, but tends to be a little more sensitive than his British counterpart.

However, as hopelessly funny as he may be, Scott has very little work ethic, which is the complete opposite of Amy Poehler's well-organized, but just as silly, Deputy Director of the Parks and Recreation Department in Pawne. Throughout the series, Knope strives to climb the career ladder at her town's local council and make the community a better place, which seems to be what Gleeson's character wants to do too.

Funnily enough, The Paper is created by the same person behind The Office US and Parks and Recreation, Greg Daniels. The Paper also stars Sabrina Impacciatore, Chelsea Frei, Ramona Young, Oscar Nuñez, Tim Key, and Melvin Gregg.

The Bear might have broken an Emmys record last year, but this year, it went home from the ceremony empty handed.

At the 2024 awards, The Bear scooped up 11 Emmys for season 2, which meant it became the most awarded comedy show in a single year (the record was broken this year, however).

But, in 2025, the show didn't receive a single award, despite being nominated in multiple categories, including Outstanding Comedy Series, Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, and Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.

Instead, Hollywood satire The Studio took home the gold for Outstanding Comedy Series, and its star Seth Rogen picked up the award for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. In fact, it was The Studio that stole The Bear's record, too, by winning 13 awards in a single night.

Lead Actress in a Comedy Series went to Jean Smart for Hacks, while the supporting categories went to Jeff Hiller for Somebody Somewhere and Hannah Einbinder for Hacks.

The Bear stars Jeremy Allen White as Carmy, a chef running his late brother's sandwich shop. Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Ayo Edebiri co-star. The Bear season 3 stands at a strong 89% on Rotten Tomatoes, though its audience score is lower at 53%. Our own 4-star The Bear season 3 review verdict reads: "Equal parts delicious and depressing, The Bear season 3 serves up another stellar slice."

White can next be seen playing Bruce Springsteen in Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere, and, after that, he'll be playing Rotta the Hutt in The Mandalorian & Grogu.

The Office star Rainn Wilson thinks NBC "missed out" by not making the Dwight Schrute spin-off, but says he was kind of relieved it never happened.

"Had they taken The Farm, they'd probably have another billion dollars in the bank. No one talks about that," Wilson told The Daily Beast's The Last Laugh podcast. "Would it have been as good as The Office? No, no way, not even close. Would it have been good? Would it have been solid? Would it have been a good, solid comedy? Yeah, it would've, and we would've done some really cool stuff. And I think they really missed out."

The sitcom's final season included a so-called "backdoor pilot" for a potential spin-off involving Wilson's eccentric assistant to the regional manager, titled 'The Farm.' The season 9 episode involves a Schrute family reunion at Schrute Farms for Dwight's aunt Shirley's funeral, but Wilson said NBC wasn't interested in The Office spin-offs at that time and "never really got" the show. The episode was received pretty poorly by critics.

Wilson added that he wasn't too disappointed at the time, though. "It was, like, 10-20% disappointment and 80% giant relief," he said. "It was a big relief of, like, I'm not gonna do any more seasons of Dwight."

The Farm may never have taken off, but a new spin-off has just hit our screens over a decade after The Office ended. The Paper, starring Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore, sees the same documentary crew that captured life at Dunder Mifflin taking on a new subject: The Toledo Truth-Teller, a failing local newspaper.

Malcolm in the Middle star Frankie Muniz has teased the upcoming sequel to the beloved sitcom, saying that fans will be "very happy" with the results.

During an appearance in a recent episode of Lightweights Podcast, the actor opened up about the return of the show, where he will reprise the lead role two decades after the events of the finale.

"Bryan [Cranston] and I originally started talking about doing a reboot or a show over 10 years ago," he revealed. "For 10 years there has been a discussion of it happening. So I also know that there was no way I wasn't going to make it work."

"I think people will be surprised in a sense with where everybody is and the story," he added, "but it's only four episodes."

Muniz said his co-star Cranston originally wanted to pitch it as a two-hour movie, "just to open up that world again," but it was eventually created as a Disney Plus series by Linwood Boomer.

"It’s hard to fit in 20 years of stuff in four 30-min episodes, but I think people are gonna be very happy with what they came up with," the actor reassured fans.

The sequel wrapped filming earlier this year, with the story set to follow Malcolm and his daughter (played by Keeley Karsten), whose attendance is demanded at his parents' 40th wedding anniversary party. Cranston is reprising his role as Hal, while Jane Kaczmarek is returning to play Lois.

The returning cast also includes Justin Berfield as Reese, and Christopher Masterson as Francis. Caleb Ellsworth-Clark is taking over Dewey, as the original actor Erik Per Sullivan has permanently retired from acting.

"Reuniting with the cast, getting to know some new characters, laughing till it hurt, and making new memories on set felt like a dream I didn’t want to wake up from. It went by so fast, like a blur of perfect moments. I wish it could go on forever," Muniz wrote on X back in May.

After over a decade of The Office US being off our television screens, new spin-off series The Paper is almost here, and most critics are surprisingly loving the show.

Despite viewers having to wait a little longer to see the new mockumentary, critics have already watched The Paper, and the show has debuted to an impressive 85% on Rotten Tomatoes, which is 4 points higher than The Office's average score of 81%.

Many are celebrating the fresh sitcom, as Ross McIndoe from Slant Magazine said, "The series finds the right balance of mellow, character-driven comedy and broader antics." Dexerto's Cameron Frew calls The Paper, "A sitcom that’s not only worthy of its beloved predecessor, but it has the potential to become a cozy, long-running favorite; Dundie-worthy, even."

However, not everyone is a fan, as Inkoo Kang from The New Yorker writes, "The Paper’s torpor exemplifies the pacing crisis of the streaming era," and Nick Schager from The Daily Beast similarly said, "Playing it safe and familiar, however, is a recipe for mediocrity, as Daniels’ latest is a likeable enough half-hour affair that, at least in its maiden season, fails to find its own voice."

It is important to note that even though The Paper sits at a higher score than The Office, many seasons of The Office surpass 85%, with seasons 2, 3, and 5 reaching 100%. It seems that season 8, which sits at a measly 44%, is bringing the average down.

Set in the same world as The Office, The Paper follows the same fictional camera crew from the original series as they move from Dunder Mifflin in Scranton to a Midwestern newspaper in Toledo. There, they find the stars of their new mockumentary, the workers behind the Toledo Truth-Teller, led by a publisher desperately trying to bring the newspaper back to life.

The Paper is written by The Office's Greg Daniels, and stars About Time's Domhnall Gleeson, The White Lotus season 2's Sabrina Impacciatore, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, Tim Key, and The Office's very own accountant, Oscar Nuñez.

Despite the mixed reviews, Peacock has already renewed The Paper for a second season.

The Office star Oscar Nuñez is the only original cast member returning for the spin-off The Paper, which is arriving this week on Peacock. According to the creators, this decision made sense with the comedy classic's finale, and his character's potential.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, The Office US creator Greg Daniels said Nuñez is "fabulous" and "hilarious", and there was more story to tell about Dunder Mifflin's beloved accountant Oscar Martínez.

"If you look at the finale of The Office, the characters have a lot of wrap-up and they were mostly going in different directions, leaving Dunder Mifflin; Oscar was kind of the same as he was in the beginning when he was still there, so it made sense,” he explained.

"Oscar’s just really funny and I love him," added The Paper co-creator Michael Koman, "and I thought he works really well because he blends in to almost any ensemble. He makes the show funnier."

According to Koman, after The Office, "his story was a little more open-ended. So it made sense to bring him back because it felt like there was more story there."

In the first trailer for The Paper, revealed last month, we saw that Oscar is not very happy to be back in front of a documentary crew. "Not again," he says in the footage. "I'm not agreeing to any of this. I will make this unusable."

In case you are hoping that iconic characters like Steve Carell's Michael Scott, John Krasinski's Jim Halpert, Jenna Fischer's Pam Beesly and Rainn Wilson's Dwight Schrute will make an appearance in the new show, Daniels has some bad news.

"Most of the cast, their stories had closure, and I don't think they really want to open them up again just to guest on another show. It was very important for me to create a show that would stand on its own and make its own name for itself and not need guest stars from the old show every week to get [people to] tune in," he said.

The new show sees a documentary crew following a failing Ohio-based newspaper, The Toledo Truth Teller.

Nuñez is joining a brand-new cast led by Domhnall Gleeson as the editor-in-chief and The White Lotus star Sabrina Impacciatore as a reporter. Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Ramona Young, Gbemisola Ikumelo and Alex Edelman complete the line-up.

Glen Powell is picking up the pace this year in a big way. Besides sprinting through highly explosive chaos in Edgar Wright's take on Running Man, he'll also be taking to the field under the discreet and in no way suspicious alias of Chad Powers in a brand new comedy series streaming on Hulu.

Co-created by former NFL quarterbacks Eli and Peyton Manning, the series features Powell as a sports-star-in-the-making, Russ Holliday, who gets a little too big for his football cleats and fumbles a touchdown that costs his team the college championship game. Fast forward eight years, and with his career having taken a nosedive and no future in the sport he's devoted his life to, Holliday tries a different play.

Using a fake name, wig, and sporting a nose that needs to be securely fastened, Russ gets back on the field to prove himself as Chad Powers, even if the rest of the world doesn't know it's him. What could possibly go wrong?

For a star that's trying to break out in every possible avenue, it's great to see Powell stretch his comedic muscles that he's proven to do so naturally in the past. He's behind more than prosthetics on the project as well, given that he's co-writing the project and on board as an executive producer. Joining him on screen is Steve Zahn as football coach, Jake Hudson, who with his job on the line following a decline in the team's success, finds a literal blessing in disguise with Chad. The show also stars Perry Mattfeld, Toby Huss, Frankie A. Rodriguez, and Wynn Everett.

Chad Powers will make a play for Hulu on September 30, premiering the first two episodes. That will also be just over a month before Powell heads into theaters with Running Man, which is set to arrive on November 7.

Sabrina Impacciatore says she had a touching encounter with OG Office boss Steve Carell before he and John Krasinski later crashed the set of upcoming spin-off The Paper.

"I bought a flight," Impacciatore told Entertainment Weekly, explaining that she flew to New York City to see Steve Carell in Uncle Vanya on Broadway. "I went to see the show. I went to the green room. I waited for him. He came out. I was shaking. I said, 'I'm Sabrina! Can you bless me?' I needed his blessing [for The Paper]! He was the sweetest. He was so warm. He was encouraging me so much. He said, ‘These people are brilliant. You are going to have the best experience of your life. You're going to be great.'"

Set in the same universe as the original American series, The Paper follows the documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch as they happen upon a historic Toledo newspaper, The Truth Teller, and the eager publisher attempting to revive it. The Office spin-off was developed by OG creator Greg Daniels, Nathan For You co-creator Michael Koman, and executive producer Ricky Gervais.

Impacciatore plays Esmeralda Grand, described as the "manipulative narcissistic fabulist" managing editor of TTT Online. After new editor-in-chief Ned (Domhnall Gleeson), arrives to restart TTT, Esmeralda gets a demotion... and vows to undermine him at every turn. Impacciatore says Carell and Krasinski stopped by to wish the cast good luck on their very first day of filming.

"No makeup yet. We are very anxious. Like, oh my God, we're so scared. And then we hear, knock, knock. Someone enters the trailer, and it's Steve Carell and John Krasinski!" She recounted, explaining that the two were filming a coffee commercial next door. "We’re fainting. Like, what? Can you imagine? Isn’t it crazy? The first day of shooting!"

The cast includes Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, Tim Key, Eric Rahill, Duane Shepard Sr., Allan Havey, Nate Jackson, Mo Welch, Molly Ephraim, and Tracy Letts. Oscar Martinez (Oscar Nuñez), the same Oscar from the original series, also stars (no idea how he got from Scranton to Toledo, though).

Ed Helms recalled the busiest time of his career while starring in both The Hangover trilogy and NBC's hit series The Office – working seven days a week, flying between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, and surviving on energy drinks.

The actor played Stuart Price in Todd Phillips' highly successful films, released between 2009 and 2013. Simultaneously, Helms joined The Office as Andy Bernard in season 3 (2006-2007), and stayed as a regular character at Dunder Mifflin until the end of the show in season 9 (2012-2013).

"I worked seven days a week," Helms said during the latest episode of the MeSsy podcast, hosted by Christina Applegate and Jamie-Lynn Sigler. According to the actor, both Phillips and The Office showrunner Greg Daniels were "gracious" enough to work around his schedule.

"Because I was cross-boarded on The Office, they were extremely full days of production. And then on The Hangover, Bradley [Cooper] and Zach [Galifianakis] and I are in literally every scene. Like, there's no scene without all three of us," he added.

As Helms revealed, the film involved a lot of night shoots, which meant some weeks he would finish his Hangover scenes in Las Vegas at 4:30 a.m. and immediately fly back to Los Angeles to start filming The Office two hours later.

"It was completely and totally insane. I was drinking, like, you know, six Red Bulls a day or something to get through it," he remembered.

Despite the grueling work, being part of the two extremely beloved productions was the "greatest" experience for Helms. "I honestly loved every second of it. I just felt so psyched to be a part of these things that were so cool and so fun," he said.

The last time we saw the actor on screen was in Netflix's 2023 family comedy Family Switch alongside Jennifer Garner and Wednesday star Emma Myers.

Helms is now set to star in the upcoming hockey movie Smudge the Blades from writer-director Cody Lightning, as announced earlier this year.

Despite being off the air for 15 years, King of the Hill is back and better than ever – and breaking some streaming records.

According to Variety, the first episode of King of the Hill season 14 hit 4.4 million views within its first seven streaming, premiering at no. 1 on Hulu's Top 15 and beating out X-Men '97 for the most popular animated show across Disney and Hulu Plus. The series overall has accrued more than 1 billion hours streamed.

King of the Hill, created by Mike Judge and Greg Daniels, aired on Fox for 13 seasons from 1997 to 2009, with the final four episodes airing during its first syndication run in 2010. A revival was first announced back in 2017, with Daniels telling Comicbook in 2020 that he and Judge had an idea for a revival season...but there was no set plan for release. The new season was officially announced in 2022, with Hulu giving it an official greenlight in 2023.

The fourteenth (and hopefully not the final) season takes place eight years after the events of season 13, and sees Hank (Judge) and Peggy Hill (Kathy Najimy) return to their hometown of Arlen, Texas after spending some time in Saudi Arabia. The returning voice cast also includes Stephen Root as Bill Dauterive, Pamela Adlon as Bobby Hill, Johnny Hardwick as Dale Gribble, and Lauren Tom as both Connie and Minh Souphanousinphone. Hardwick died in 2023, and voices Dale for the first six episodes. Toby Huss takes over for the final four (and does a dang ol' good job).

King of the Hill showrunner Saladin K. Patterson has opened up about the limitations they faced working with Hulu and Disney on the recently released 14th season – even if what was removed from the animated revival didn't feel like a "big loss" at all.

While Patterson lauded Hulu executives "as being on the same page in terms of wanting to recapture what made the original special" in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he admitted that certain compromises had to be made under the more family-friendly banner of Disney's streaming service (Hulu will be merged into Disney Plus next year).

"But there were situations where the Disney of it all put some limiters on us that I know Fox would not have, even though we were on Hulu and streaming, which theoretically has broader S&P [standards and practices] than Fox," Patterson said.

That involved removing some stronger curse words. While King of the Hill has never shied away from having a slightly foul mouth – bitches and bastards have been thrown around the show in prior seasons – there was more of an official mandate this time around to remove f-bombs.

"The characters do curse in ways they can’t curse on broadcast. That being said, Hulu still made us go through and pull out all the F-bombs because they don’t want the TV-MA label, and it’s fine. Totally get it. It is what it is," Patterson said. "I’m not a huge fan of shows pushing the envelope in that way anyway, so it wasn’t a big loss, but it was ironic, especially considering, like you said, the history of the show being on Fox where the whole purpose was to try to push the envelope as much as you could."

King of the Hill aired on Fox for 13 seasons from 1997 to 2010. The revival season, which features a hefty time skip as viewers return to Arlen, dropped all of its episodes on Hulu on August 4.

Seth MacFarlane says Hollywood is focusing too much on making "cautionary tales" and "pessimistic" stories instead of offering audiences some much-needed hope.

During a recent conversation with Cheers icon Ted Danson on the Where Everybody Knows Your Name podcast, the Family Guy creator talked about his desire to send optimistic messages through his work. "That's why I did The Orville," he explained.

"When I was a kid, Hollywood was providing that voice in various forms. There was a lot of hope, and some of the blame lies right here in this town. The dishes that we are serving up are so dystopian and so pessimistic. And yeah, there's a lot to be pessimistic about, but it's so one-sided. There's nothing we're doing that’s providing anyone an image of hope," he continued.

MacFarlane said he loves shows like The Handmaid's Tale and The Sopranos, but he thinks "there's a lot more of that than there is what we used to get from Captain Picard." Star Trek was one of the main influences on MacFarlane in creating his Trek-inspired Fox/Hulu show, which released a season 3 back in 2022.

"They're certainly giving us a lot of cautionary tales, but where are the blueprints that they once gave us for how to do things correctly? It can't all be just, 'Here's what's going to happen to you if you f*** up.' You do need, 'Here's what you can achieve if you change your ways and do things right,'" he added.

Using Tony Soprano as an example, MacFarlane said there is a certain obsession with the "antihero", which is "all about the complicated, fucked-up, drug-addled person". He also said The White Lotus is "brilliant", but out of the main characters, "no one is someone you'd wanna be."

"That's the only thing really that Hollywood can do that's worthwhile because as we all learned from this election, nobody gives a f*** what celebrities think. We can tweet, we can talk. Like, people don't care. They don't care. What we do do well is tell stories. And we're not doing the best job right now of telling those stories in a way that gives people hope," he argued.

MacFarlane also revealed there are plans for a season 4 of The Orville, but nothing is official yet.

The first trailer is here for The Paper, a new The Office spin-off, which introduces us to a new cast of workplace mockumentary characters – including Domhnall Gleeson's editor-in-chief and Sabrina Impacciatore's hapless reporter.

"Several years ago, a documentary team filmed the story of Dunder Mifflin," on-screen text reads as the teaser begins. "Now they've found a new subject." That subject would be The Toledo Truth Teller, a failing local newspaper based in Ohio.

"Enervate sells products made out of paper," says Tim Key's character, who appears to be some kind of manager at the company publishing The Truth Teller. "Toilet tissue, toilet seat protectors, and local newspapers. And that is in order of quality."

Gleeson plays Ned Sampson, the paper's optimistic new editor-in-chief, who's determined to turn things around "It sucks, but we're going to make it better," he says, even though his volunteer hacks are prone to sleeping on the job and only have tweeting and group chats as previous writing experience.

The cast also includes Melvin Gregg, Chelsea Frei, Ramona Young, Gbemisola Ikumelo, and Alex Edelman, as well as one familiar face from the Dunder Mifflin office: Oscar Nuñez's Oscar Martinez. Just how he ended up in Ohio has yet to be revealed, but he's not happy to be back in front of a documentary crew. "Not again," he sighs. "I'm not agreeing to any of this. I will make this unusable."

After its streaming fate was left up in the air, South Park now has a permanent streaming home on Paramount Plus – and won't be available anywhere else.

"As of today, August 6, South Park is no longer available on any other SVOD, marking a major shift in the streaming landscape and solidifying Paramount Plus as the definitive destination for fans of the groundbreaking franchise," Paramount Plus wrote via press release.

Right now, all 27 seasons of South Park are available on Paramount Plus, including movies and specials like Post Covid and The Streaming Wars. New episodes will be available in tandem with their Comedy Central premiere in the US.

Before season 27 premiered, the show was held up due to a merger involving Skydance and Comedy Central. All 26 seasons were previously available on HBO Max, but South Park's previous $500 million deal with the streaming service expired in July. The release date of season 27 was pushed back just a bit due to the kerfuffle, and had no streaming home leading up to the premiere – until Paramount Plus swooped in and saved the day.

"This merger is a sh*tshow and it’s f*cking up South Park," Parker and Stone wrote on X via the official South Park account at the time. "We are at the studio working on new episodes, and we hope the fans get to see them somehow."

Family Guy creator Seth Macfarlane has paid a rare compliment to South Park, despite a decades-long feud between him and South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone.

"I would never trade our animation team for anything on Family Guy, but their production cycle of, what is it, like, two weeks?” Macfarlane told The Town with Matthew Belloni podcast. “It’s kind of amazing."

"Any show that lasts that long is pretty astounding," he continued. "Our shows take about 10 months to a year to produce each episode, so we have to really kind of guess what the world is going to look like, which obviously gets harder and harder."

The feud kicked off properly in the two-part South Park episode 'Cartoon Wars', which aired in 2006 as part of season 10, depicted the Family Guy writers' room as a group of manatees in a tank who devise plotlines by picking "idea balls" with different words or pop culture references on them at random.

Parker once said he "hated" Family Guy in an interview, while Macfarlane later said that it'd be "interesting" to know where the "venom" came from.

With more than 300 episodes under its belt, South Park has been airing since 1997 and is currently on its twenty-seventh season, while Family Guy premiered in 1999. As well as creating the show, Macfarlane also voices multiple characters, most notably Peter, Stewie, and Brian Griffin.

South Park season 27 may only have just kicked off, but the show is already taking a break after it premiered last week.

The break is only for a week, though – episode 2 will hit the small screen on August 6. The show teased the next episode in a YouTube video, which also previewed the return of Donald Trump and Satan – and the pair are getting touchy-feely at a black tie dinner. South Park has long parodied POTUS (namely through the character of Mr. Garrison), but the season 27 premiere got explicit with the introduction of a character named Donald Trump.

The teaser also included a confrontation between Cartman and fellow elementary school student Bebe. "You can just shut up, Bebe, because you hate America and love abortion," Cartman says in the clip. In the new season, the school's PC Principal is no longer "Politically Correct" Principal and has rebranded to "Power Christian" Principal, and the season premiere saw Jesus visit the school to save the kids from wokeness.

South Park has been running since 1997 for over 300 episodes – and creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone recently admitted that they use fan sites to keep track of the show's expansive lore. ​​"It's them," Parker said, gesturing to the audience at this year's San Diego Comic-Con when asked if they had a "Show Bible".

"We can look on any kind of South Park fanbase or whatever and find, 'Oh yeah, we did that. That's who that kid's mom is? This random kid... what did his mom do for a living?' Let's go on the internet, you guys have said it."

Ted Lasso season 4 is on the way, after the show apparently wrapped up with its somewhat controversial season 3.

Now, we were already fairly skeptical of returning for more after season 3 was billed as the end, and the latest update from Rebecca actor Hannah Waddingham has only made us more unsure.

"It feels like it was the most beautiful, beloved dog that was buried, and now we've exhumed it, and I am here for it," Waddingham told Variety. "I was hankering and hankering and hankering and hankering to see where Rebecca had gone, where she was going to. She's my girl. She's in my bloodstream, so I'm thrilled that it's been exhumed."

Honestly, we have no idea how to feel about this. Exhuming a beloved dog isn't exactly a great mental image. Still, Ted Lasso season 1-2 was a solid run of sitcom episodes with a surprising amount of heart, so here's hoping the forthcoming season 4 can recapture the magic after season 3 faltered.

"As we all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to 'look before we leap', in season four, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to LEAP BEFORE THEY LOOK, discovering that wherever they land, it's exactly where they're meant to be," Ted Lasso himself, Jason Sudeikis, said in a statement announcing the show's return.

So far, plot details are pretty scarce, but we do know we'll see Ted coaching a women's team.

It's been 14 years since the last time we heard the thoughts of Doctor John Dorian (Zach Braff) from Scrubs, and now the sitcom is showing signs of life with news that it's set to return to our screens for a brand new season.

News from Deadline reveals that Braff, along with his former co-stars, Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke, will also be returning to the show in their roles of Dr. Christopher Turk and Dr. Elliot Reid, respectively. The news comes after Braff confirmed he was returning as J.D. back in May. Currently, these are the only confirmed cast members for the new show, while behind the scenes, some familiar names will return to bring the show back to life.

Bill Lawrence, who created the original show and then went on to have the idea of a US football coach coming to handle an English football team in Ted Lasso, will be back as executive producer on the show. Taking his spot will be Tim Hobert and Aseem Batra as showrunners and executive producers. Hobert was a writer in the show's original run, along with Batra, who also worked as story editor.

The show doesn't look to be heading anywhere near Med School, which was the basis of the not-quite-spin-off and ninth season that is deemed the worst of the original series. Instead, we'll be reunited with our favorite physicians at Sacred Heart Hospital, opening up the opportunity for some of the rest of its original staff to return as well. Rumors have already been circulating that if shooting schedules align just right, Judy Reyes could reprise her role as Faison's on-screen wife and head nurse, Carla Espinosa.

Speaking about the show's return in August, Lawrence explained, "It would not only be fun to see where the characters I used to love are now, but also to see what a young doctor nowadays looks like, as far as the kids coming in behind them, you know." We'll be able to see how healthy that looks when Scrubs is expected to return next year.

The Paper, Peacock's spin-off of The Office, has been given a release date, and it's not so far off. Now officially premiering in September, The Paper is more of a spiritual sequel to the beloved sitcom, which ran from 2005-2013, in that it follows all new characters in an all new setting, with the premise that the new "documentary" is filmed by the same fictional film crew as The Office.

This time, the story centers on a struggling midwestern newspaper as a rambunctious new editor does his best to bring the paper back to prominence in a world that has increasingly less time for print media.

"Created by Greg Daniels (The Office) and Michael Koman (Nathan for You), The Paper brings the action from Scranton to Toledo as the same documentary crew that followed the beloved employees of Dunder Mifflin search for a new subject to focus on," reads Peacock's official synopsis for The Paper. "They land on the historic but struggling Midwestern newspaper, The Truth Teller, and the eager publisher trying to revive it."

The Office was, itself, an adaptation of the original UK show of the same name, which ran for a much shorter three seasons (or series, in the parlance of the BBC). The US Office remains one of the most beloved American sitcoms of all time and a perpetual streaming giant as people continuously revisit Dunder Mifflin and its cast of beleaguered but optimistic paper sellers.

The Paper stars Domhnall Gleeson along with Sabrina Impacciatore, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, and Tim Key.

The Big Bang Theory is going multiversal: a new spin-off, titled Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, is in the works at HBO Max.

The new show will revolve around down-on-his-luck Stuart from the original series, played by Kevin Sussman, who owns the comic book store frequented by Sheldon, Leonard, Howard, and Raj – but things are set to go a little more science fiction than you might expect.

The official logline is as follows: "Comic book store owner Stuart Bloom is tasked with restoring reality after he breaks a device built by Sheldon and Leonard, accidentally bringing about a multiverse Armageddon. Stuart is aided in this quest by his girlfriend Denise, geologist friend Bert, and quantum physicist/all-around pain in the ass Barry Kripke. Along the way, they meet alternate-universe versions of characters we’ve come to know and love from The Big Bang Theory. As the title implies, things don’t go well."

The Big Bang Theory creators Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady are on board as executive producers, along with Zak Penn, who co-wrote X-Men: The Last Stand and had story credits on The Avengers and X2.

"I wanted to do something radical that would take me out of my comfort zone. Something the characters on ‘The Big Bang Theory,’ would have loved, hated, and argued about," Lorre said in a statement.

Along with Sussman, other returning cast members include Lauren Lapkus as Denise, Brian Posehn as Bert, and John Ross Bowie as Barry Kripke.

The Big Bang Theory ran for 12 seasons between 2007 and 2019. Two other spin-offs followed: prequel series Young Sheldon, which ran between 2017 and 2024, and Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, about Sheldon's brother Georgie, which premiered last October.

Cobra Kai co-creator Josh Heald says The Next Karate Kid star Hilary Swank ultimately turned down a chance to make an appearance on the show – and I'd be lying if I said my heart didn't hurt.

"We did reach out in the very early days before the season to see if there was a path [for her to appear],” Heald told IndieWire. "We had an inkling of an idea about how she could come into this story and not have to commit to 10 episodes or something.”

"She didn’t want us to go through the trouble of flying out to her and putting our heart on the sleeve, because it just wasn’t something she was ready to do at that moment,” Heald said. “On her end, it was very respectful, but we never got that opportunity to sit down and pour our heart out the way that we typically do when we bring back characters from the legacy."

The fourth film in the Karate Kid franchise saw Mr. Miyagi take on Swank's Julie Pierce as his new protege in a new state. The movie was a critical and commercial failure at the time (despite being the number one movie at the box office of my heart) and has since become a cult classic. Christopher Cain directed from a screenplay by Mark Lee, with a cast that included a pre-fame Walton Goggins as the secondary antagonist.

Several characters (if not every major player) from The Karate Kid franchise made an appearance throughout Cobra Kai's six-season run, with Jackie Chan even solidifying his character from the 2010 Karate Kid reboot as canon by starring in 2025's Karate Kid: Legends. Because of Chan's return, a cameo from Swank seemed that much more likely. Sadly, no dice.

Added Heald: "For us, it was a little disappointing because we like getting everybody, but at the same time, we didn’t sacrifice any huge story that we had fully developed. It’s more fruit on the vine for if we can revisit this universe going forward.”

South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have spoken out about the streaming fate of the show's 27th season, which has just been delayed yet again – though this time just by a couple of weeks.

"This merger is a sh*tshow and it’s f*cking up South Park,” Parker and Stone wrote on X via the official South Park account. "We are at the studio working on new episodes, and we hope the fans get to see them somehow.”

According to Deadline, the merger in question involves Skydance's pending acquisition of Comedy Central parent Paramount Global. It's a little confusing (to me, anyway) but South Park's previous $500 million deal with HBO Max expired last week – and Paramount Plus is set to pick it up...but no official deal has been made. As of right now, the show will still premiere on Comedy Central, but season 27 doesn't have a streaming home just yet.

All 26 seasons of South Park are still on HBO Max, with Paramount Plus hosting several South Park specials that have been released throughout the years. The streamer reportedly plans to have the new season (and the rest, I guess) by the end of the month. Steve Carell leaving The Office in 2011 wasn’t only devastating for comedy fans, as star Rainn Wilson has admitted that the Michael Scott star’s departure brought up a lot of difficulties in continuing the series.

"When Steve left, then it was a little bit chaotic of trying to figure out the tone of the show and who’s the lead and, how are we telling these stories without, you know, the comic engine of the show, which is Michael Scott, and without one of the greatest comic actors in American history at the center of our show. That was also a struggle," said Wilson on the Good Guys podcast.

The US version of The Office ran for 9 seasons in total, and is often regarded as one of the best comedy shows made. The show follows a group of office workers at a paper-selling company led by eccentric boss Michael Scott (Carell). Wilson played Scott’s even stranger right-hand man, Dwight Schrute.

The show tried to fill the Carell-shaped hole by adding James Spader to the cast as Dunder Mifflin CEO Robert California, and promoted Ed Helms’ character Andy Bernard to Michael Scott’s old position, regional manager. The show then tried to replicate Michael and Dwight’s relationship by making Dwight Andy’s number two.

However, there's no denying that the mockumentary lost its spark in those last 2 seasons due to missing Carell. In fact, the show’s average viewership dropped from 7.7 million in season 7 (Carell’s last season), to 6.5 million and 5.1 million in seasons 8 and 9. Critics did not take to Carell’s absence either, as the first season without him scored a measly 44% on Rotten Tomatoes, compared to season 7’s score of 83%.

But Carell’s departure didn't come as a shock to the cast, as Wilson noted that the Get Smart star was a "such a big movie star at the time," adding, "we knew it was coming for a long time." Carell had starred in many projects whilst involved with The Office, but after leaving the show, the star has since appeared in films such as Crazy, Stupid, Love, the Despicable Me franchise, and the critically acclaimed drama Beautiful Boy.

The Office came to an end in 2013. However, a new version of the show titled 'The Paper' is on its way to Peacock this September. The Paper is set in the same universe and acts as a follow-up to The Office, with original cast member Oscar Nunez set to reprise his role as Oscar Martinez in the show.

Everybody Loves Raymond stars have shot down any talk of a reboot or sequel down – because doing it without their late cast mates would be a "disservice" to the classic sitcom.

"There won't be a reboot," Ray Romano, who played the titular lovable everyman in the comedy, told The New York Post.

"The obvious is Peter [Boyle] and Doris [Roberts], and one of the kids – they’re no longer with us. We’re all heartbroken. They’re a big part of the show, the dynamic.”

Romano added, “Without them, I don’t know what the dynamic is. We love the show too much, we respect it too much to even try to do it.”

Peter Boyle, who played Raymond's irascible father Frank, died in 2006. Actor Sawyer Sweeten, who portrayed Ray's son Geoffrey, died in 2015. Doris Roberts, who played Frank's on-screen wife Marie, passed away in 2016.

Romano's co-star Patricia Heaton agreed with the assessment, stating, “To try to do it again without the cast members that we’ve lost would be a disservice to the show.

"You shouldn’t try to go back and redo something that is pretty much perfect. We need to just leave it there and let people enjoy it for what it was.”

Everybody Loves Raymond ran for nine series from 1996 to 2005 and centred on the domestic life of sportswriter Ray – and the continued meddling from his parents who live across the street.

Despite Everybody Loves Raymond not making a return, several classics will be making a comeback. Scrubs and Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboots are in the works. Meanwhile, a Malcolm in the Middle sequel series has just wrapped filming – though the OG Dewey actor won't return due to retiring from performing.

Rick and Morty took a turn for the meta in this week's episode when the animated show took a shot at Warner Bros. CEO David Zaslav.

"Ah, recent thaw. This altitude should be permafrost," Rick says after the titular duo travel to the Alps to investigate the origins of a mutated Easter bunny. "God, I do not wanna say 'climate change' on this show. I don't know which way Zaslav voted."

Rick and Morty airs on Adult Swim, the evening and late-night programming on Cartoon Network – which is owned by Warner Bros.

Zaslav has frequently come under fire in recent years, in most part due to the studio's decision to can multiple completed movies as tax write-offs. Batgirl, Coyote vs. Acme, and Scoob! Holiday Haunt were all shelved by Warner Bros. in the last couple of years, although Coyote vs. Acme has since been acquired by Ketchup Entertainment and is due to be released next year.

In the case of the Looney Tunes courtroom drama, Zaslav reportedly hadn't even seen the movie before making the call to shelve it. Per a report from 2024 by The Wrap, Warner Bros. would have made between $35 million and $40 million from the tax write-off, had Ketchup Entertainment not bought it.

No, not the lyrics to Malcolm in the Middle title song 'Boss of Me' by They Might Be Giants', but all potential responses from OG Dewey actor Erik Per Sullivan when asked by fellow cast member Bryan Cranston whether he would return for the Malcolm in the Middle sequel.

Unfortunately for long-time fans of the hit sitcom, Sullivan decided against making a comeback as the second-youngest member of the Wilkerson clan – but for good reason.

Speaking on the Fly on the Wall podcast (H/T Entertainment Weekly), Cranston spoke to Sullivan – the only main cast member not to return – and assumed he would be on-board with showing up again as Dewey.

"I talked to Eric and I said, 'Hey, we got the show! It's going to come back.' He goes, 'Oh, that's fantastic!' And I go, 'Yeah, so we're looking forward to having you back.' He goes, 'Oh, no, no, I don't want to do it. But it's fantastic,'" Cranston recalled.

"He's actually going to Harvard. He's really, really smart, and he's getting his master's at Harvard right now. He said, 'Oh God, no, I haven't acted since I was nine or something. So I'm not into it.'"

Malcolm in the Middle will return for a four-episode miniseries on Disney Plus, which sees Malcolm (Frankie Muniz) once again enter the orbit of his dysfunctional family during Hal and Lois' (Jane Kaczmarek) 40th wedding anniversary celebrations.

Muniz penned a heartfelt message on social media after filming had wrapped back in May, describing the experience as something he wished "could go on forever."

"I'm so happy to have gotten the chance to relive being on this show with a greater appreciation of what we were making knowing how many people around the world truly love Malcolm and his family," Muniz wrote on Twitter. "Another big thing I am taking away from this experience is how much I truly love being an actor. I never officially felt like that label fit me, but now I wear that label proudly and hope to do so much more of it in the future."

Martin Scorsese has a fun cameo in the Apple TV Plus comedy The Studio, but, as it turns out, he had some reservations about his scene.

"There was a moment where him and Charlize Theron were whispering to each other, and it took like 10 takes to get the shot," episode director and show co-creator Evan Goldberg told People.

"And then we got it and I was like, 'What were you whispering about?' He was like, 'I knew you were doing this wrong, but I didn't wanna be a backseat director, so I just didn’t say anything,'" Goldberg added. "And I was like, 'Well, we could have used that time, but I appreciate that you didn't wanna manhandle us.'"

The Studio is a satirical show co-created by and starring Seth Rogen, who plays a newly appointed film studio head. The show stands at an impressive almost-perfect critics score of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The show has clearly been a hit for the streamer, since it's already been renewed for season 2. "We're excited to keep all our industry friends and colleagues guessing as to when one of their personal stories will stream on Apple TV Plus," said Rogen and Goldberg (H/T Deadline).

Along with Rogen, the show also stars Catherine O'Hara, Ike Barinholtz, Chase Sui Wonders, Kathryn Hahn, and Bryan Cranston, with guest stars including Scorsese, Anthony Mackie, Adam Scott, Paul Dano, and more.

Michael Scott is not coming back, but The Office spin-off's star Domhnall Gleeson hopes "people will find a reason to love" his character as well. The actor plays the lead role in the upcoming show The Paper, co-created by Greg Daniels (the OG The Office creator) that is set to debut in September.

As a documentary-style comedy series set in the same universe as the original show, comparisons between The Office and The Paper are inevitable, but Gleeson is already getting ahead of them.

"I don't think my character is like Michael Scott at alI," he told People during a recent interview, setting his character Ned and Steve Carell's lovable boss apart. "I think if you're trying to compete with what Steve did or with what Ricky Gervais did, I think it would be a massive mistake," Gleeson said, also mentioning Gervais, who starred in the original The Office in the UK.

"They are geniuses who are incredible in loads of different ways. We made a whole new character. And it's a whole new sort of set up, but I hope people will find a reason to love him as well, just in a different way than they did the guys before," he added.

The Paper follows a group of reporters and their publisher trying to revive a dying Midwestern newspaper. Along with Gleeson, the cast includes names like Sabrina Impacciatore (The White Lotus), Melvin Gregg (American Vandal), Ramona Young (Never Have I Ever) and The Office star Oscar Nuñez, who is set to reprise his role as Oscar Martinez,

Before we get to see him in this anticipated spin-off, Gleeson stars alongside Julianne Moore and Sydney Sweeney in Apple TV Plus' mystery series Echo Valley, which premieres this Friday.

It's just over two months until we finally reunite with our favorite cello-playing super sleuth in Wednesday season 2. Now, to ramp up our excitement, Netflix has unveiled a new look at the fantasy horror's second season.

If that's not enough, the streamer also treated us to a live performance from Lady Gaga - which began with the song 'Zombieboy' from her new album Mayhem - during its annual Tudum event.

The popstar's involvement in the sophomore chapter was confirmed way back in November 2024, after a scene from season 1 that sees Wednesday dance to The Cramps' 'Goo Goo Muck' was reworked to Gaga's 'Bloody Mary' and sparked a viral TikTok trend.

Now, Netflix has finally confirmed that Gaga is playing Rosaline Rotwood, "a legendary Nevermore teacher who crosses paths with Wednesday." She'll appear in part 2 of season 2.

The live performance went into "Bloody Mary" for a quick second before bringing out a plethora of Wednesday-dressed dancers for "Goo Goo Muck" and going into "Abracadabra."

As for the footage, it's certainly interesting. "I'm tied up in a serial killer's basement," Wednesday says, surrounded by terrifying porcelain dolls. The scene then cuts to Wednesday explaining that she spent the summer working on harnessing her psychic abilities - which we were introduced to at the end of season 1.

Wednesday uses her powers to hunt down the serial killer, using a prized bowling ball that Thing retrieves from an evidence box at a police station. We then cut to a hilarious scene that sees Wednesday attempt to get through TSA - before being forced to remove a plethora of weapons including a taser, several knives, and nunchucks. Thing, of course, is in the suitcase - but the TSA is more concerned with sunscreen being over the limit of fluid ounces. She and Thing land in Missouri, where they confront the killer - who is none other than Haley Joel Osment. You can watch the full scene below - which is quite the lengthy treat.

The last time we saw Wednesday, she'd just exposed Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan) as the Hyde monster that'd been causing bloody carnage all over town. What she hadn't expected, though, was to learn that Marilyn Thornhill (Christina Ricci) had been the one orchestrating his murderous attacks... With Thornhill AKA Laurel Gates now out of the picture, and Tyler shackled up in Willow Hill Psychiatric Hospital, season 2 sees Wednesday return to Nevermore for another school year – only to stumble on an even wilder mystery.

Other newbies joining the show include Osment, Billie Piper, Thandiwe Newton, Joanna Lumley, Steve Buscemi, and Christopher Lloyd. Joy Sunday, Emma Myers, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez, Fred Armisen, and Catherine Zeta-Jones are among those returning.

"Season 2 is bigger, bolder, gorier, and a bit darker. It's sillier in the best way possible," Ortega previously told Harper's Bazaar, having already revealed that the new batch of episodes were inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's The Masque of the Red Death.

The Office star Jenna Fischer has defended the sitcom against criticisms that the quality went downhill after Steve Carrell's exit in 2011, saying that some of her favorite episodes were in the final two seasons.

"I think there was this lore, especially among the cast and the creatives, that maybe we hit our peak in season 3 or season 4," Fischer told the Fly on the Wall podcast. "And also this belief that the two seasons after Steve left, we were just treading water and maybe they weren’t as good. But when I watched everything, some of my favorite episodes were in seasons 8 and 9 after Steve had left. There were still these amazing storylines."

Fischer played Dunder Mifflin receptionist Pam Beesly for all nine seasons of The Office, from 2005 to 2013. Carrell, who played regional manager Michael Scott, left the show after season 7 when his character gets engaged and moves to Colorado.

Although it's been 12 years since the series ended, it's not quite the end of The Office yet. A spin-off is set to air later this year, titled The Paper, which sees the same documentary crew follow the volunteer staff of a historic Midwestern newspaper in decline. The show will star Domnhall Gleeson, Tim Key, Tracy Letts, The White Lotus season 2's Sabrina Impacciatore, and returning The Office cast member Oscar Nuñez.
