Silo season 3

Apple's post-apocalyptic mystery show is back for its third, and penultimate, season. After venturing outside the silo in season 2 and discovering that they were not alone, Juliette (Rebecca Ferguson) now faces a different struggle – ol' memory loss.

OK, so a bit of a cliched start for Silo season 3, but after two seasons of questions, the show is finally set to provide answers, with a dual timeline flashing back to the creation of the silos themselves. The best news is that a fourth and final season has already been shot, so there's no risk of being left hanging.

Enola Holmes 3

Enola Holmes is back! Sherlock's younger sister, played by Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown, is about to wed Lord Tewkesbury (Louis Partridge) in Malta when her crime-solving big brother – once again played by Henry Cavill – disappears. So it's up to Enola to solve the case of the missing Holmes, and expose the shadowy conspirators pulling the strings.

Enola Holmes has proven one of Netflix's more successful ongoing film franchises. This latest entry is once again written by prolific screenwriter Jack Thorne, who has enlisted his acclaimed Adolescence collaborator Phlip Barantini as director, so impressive credentials behind the camera. Ready or Not 2: Here I Come

The sequel to 2019 horror-comedy Ready or Not is another fun, frantic spin on the most dangerous game, as returning survivor Grace (Samara Weaving) again finds herself being hunted for ritualistic sport by the council of elite families. The twist this time: Grace's estranged sister, Faith (Kathryn Newton) is also part of the chase.

Arriving seven years after the first entry (directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett helmed Screams 5 and 6, and vampire flick Abigail in the intervening years), Ready or Not 2 has been a long time coming, but is another blood-soaked blast. Lee Cronin's The Mummy

Warner Bros' full-on Mummy reboot faced a mixed response when it released earlier this year, with critics knocking the fact that it's more of an exorcist movie than a Mummy movie, and pointing to its somewhat indulgent 135-minute runtime (and that meaningless title) as signs that it was a movie in need of a few more studio notes. But everyone can agree, it's pretty gnarly.

The story of a modern-day family whose daughter is kidnapped, only to mysteriously return 8 years later, having been found in a sarcophagus, wrapped in bandages (never a good sign), it's a movie that brings the Mummy myth into the home. Midsommar's Jack Reynor and Moon Knight's May Calamawy star.

Human Vapor

This South Korean sci-fi thriller show is actually a reimagining of a 1960 Toho movie, hence the charmingly retro premise: a man gains the ability to transform into a gaseous state and uses his powers for bank robberies. Only here, of course, instead of robbing banks, murder is involved.

We're not going to lie: there was clearly a limited VFX budget, so some of the gas effects are a little ropey, but Human Vapor has been admirably updated for the prestige TV era; this gripping 8-episode limited series will keep you hooked till the very end.

The Agency season 2

A remake of the critically acclaimed French spy thriller The Bureau, The Agency stars Michael Fassbender as a CIA operative navigating the twisty, subterfuge-filled world of international espionage, and offers a more grounded take on the spy genre than the likes of Jack Ryan.

I Will Find You

Writer-producer Harlan Coben has become an industry unto himself. I Will Find You is the latest of his many beach reads to be adapted for binge viewing, and stars Avatar's Sam Worthington as a father jailed for the murder of his son, only to discover in prison that his missing child could still be alive.

Intriguing premise, right? I Will Find You also features a typically stacked cast for a Coben adaptation: Severance's Britt Lower, Heroes' Milo Ventimiglia and Gotham's Erin Richards also star. Just don't start watching too late at night, because the moreish episodes will keep you up till sunrise.

The Season

If you've ever found yourself wondering why a sequel to Crazy Rich Asians is still stuck in development hell, The Season should tide you over till China Rich Girlfriend finally goes into production. Set in the luxury world of Hong Kong's elite boating scene (we're all familiar, I'm sure), it's the kind of show where scandal, betrayal and, eventually, murder are par for the course.

Shadow and Bone's Jessie Mei Lee leads the cast as something of an interloper who throws a cat among the pigeons or, rather, a shark among the superyachts. Reviewers have called it "Succession meets Crazy Rich Asians," while the Hong Kong locations are as glamorous as they come. Perfect weekend binge-viewing that may give you a few summer holiday ideas.

Your Fault: London

If you haven't gotten on board with this prolific series of romantic dramas yet, now is the perfect time. A follow-up to My Fault: London (so be sure to watch that first), it stars Asha Banks and Matthew Broome as madly in love twentysomethings whose commitment to one another is tested by conflicting desires.

An English-language adaptation of the wildly popular Spanish-language trilogy Culpables, the Fault movies may not be high art, but they are very watchable. And the best news is the third film in the trilogy – Our Fault: London – was shot back-to-back with the second movie, meaning a sequel is already in the can.

Stephen King is no stranger to sharing his opinions on new movies and TV shows online, and his latest recommendation is a brand new Apple TV show, but it's not Widow's Bay.

"Widow's Bay is good. Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed is even better," said King on Twitter. "It's like Hitchcock came back to do it one more time. And Tatiana Maslany is so good. The play of emotions on her face is pretty incredible. She goes from comic to terror in an instant." Comparing the show to the works of Hitchcock, the king of suspense, is big praise indeed.

Starring Orphan Black's Maslany, Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed follows a newly divorced soccer mom named Paula who is thrown into a spiral of blackmail and murder when she witnesses a crime. Whilst juggling an ongoing custody battle, Paula begins her own investigation that leads her to an even greater conspiracy. The show hit Apple TV on May 20 and will conclude on July 15, 2026.

Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed has proven to be a hit with critics, standing at an impressive 93% score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, it hasn't blown up as much as Apple TV's other dark comedy, Widow's Bay. The new show, which leans a little more into the horror genre, follows a mayor who desperately tries to drive tourists to his small, dated island, but in doing so, triggers a sinister curse. Widow's Bay sits at a slightly higher 97% RT score.

Earlier this month, horror director Guillermo del Toro called the surprise hit "one of the best streaming series in a long time." And just this week, game developer and fellow Twitter film reviewer Hideo Kojima shared his thoughts on Widow's Bay. "It’s so incredibly good that I couldn’t stop," said Kojima. Funnily enough, Kojima added, "Fans of Stephen King and horror in general will love it." Well, it seems as though King prefers Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed.

Apple TV is keeping fans of tension and mystery fed right now. Widow's Bay came to an end on June 17, but Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed is still airing, as well as the new Cape Fear TV adaptation, starring Amy Adams, Patrick Wilson, and Javier Bardem as the terrifying Max Cady. Crime drama Unconditional also concludes on June 19.

The king of online film reviews, Hideo Kojima, has spoken, and this time the game developer is showing love to surprise Apple TV smash hit Widow's Bay.

Kojima took to Twitter to share his take. "It’s so incredibly good that I couldn’t stop, so I binged through Episode 9 in one go. It’s packed with horror elements, one after another. Fans of Stephen King and horror in general will love it. The pacing is excellent, and the balance between horror and humor is just right," said Kojima. "It’s been a long time since a series pulled me in this completely."

As well as recommending the show to Stephen King fans, Kojima went on to compare the new horror show to the likes of Steven Spielberg's Jaws and David Lynch's Twin Peaks franchise. Check out the full post below.

Kojima said he watched the show based on Frankenstein director Guillermo del Toro's recommendation, who tweeted out his own review of the series on June 1. "Widow's Bay may very well be the best streaming series in a long time… and hands down one of the most mesmerizing acts of narrative prestidigitation in Horror," said Del Toro. Well, that certainly is big praise from the Pan's Labyrinth helmer.

Set in a fictional New England island called Widow's Bay, the series follows a new mayor who attempts to attract tourists and breathe new life into the outdated town. However, the locals claim the island is cursed, which soon becomes apparent when a string of unexplainable, paranormal events occur. The series stars Matthew Rhys, Kate O'Flynn, Kevin Carroll, Dale Dickey, Kingston Rumi Southwick, and Stephen Root.

The show landed on Apple TV on April 29, but has slowly grown in popularity. Widow's Bay sits at an impressive 97% on Rotten Tomatoes and has already been renewed for season 2.

My Adventures with Superman season 3

Clark Kent is back in My Adventures with Superman season 3, which arrives on HBO this week. The third season returns to Metropolis as our titular hero faces new enemies, including a brutal Cyborg Superman who claims to be better than the Man of Steel in every possible way. In order to defeat this threat, Supes teams up with Supergirl, Jimmy Olsen, and Lois Lane to bring order back to the city.

Set across 10 episodes, the new outing is just as action-packed and full of heart as previous seasons as it manages to explore a new side to this much-adapted hero. The Boys star Jack Quaid returns as Superman alongside newcomers Max Mittelman as Cyborg Supes and Darren Criss as Superboy. The show is airing weekly on HBO Max following its release on Toonami, and is well worth a watch.

Widow's Bay episode 9

Our time in the, ahem, charming town of Widow's Bay is almost at an end as the show's penultimate episode arrives this week. The Matthew Rhys-led series has been one of the big surprises of 2026 so far, working as both a hilarious horror satire as well as gripping and tense thriller. There are so many questions remaining in the penultimate episode as we wait for next week's finale so there's never been a better time to make sure you're up to date before the final episode airs.

And if you needed any more convincing to book a ferry trip over, then the reviews speak for themselves. Currently sitting at 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, the Guardian gave the show five out of five stars, saying it's "Mare of Easttown meets Schitt's Creek, but with something else that makes it singular". Every Year After

Prime Video is well known as the place to be for romantic dramas. Not only did their show The Summer I Turned Pretty become a global hit, but they've also had new romantic series like Off Campus and Maxton Hall win over viewers. Now another new entry is joining the list as Every Year After arrives on the streamer.

Based on the novel 'Every Summer After' by Carley Fortune, the eight-part drama follows Percy Fraser and Sam Florek, two best friends who find themselves constantly drawn back to each other. Think One Day meets Virgin River, the series is all about whether the one that got away is truly gone forever. All episodes are available to stream now.

I Am Frankelda

Get lost in a new dark fantasy world in I Am Frankelda, an absorbing stop-motion story set between the real world and the world of terrors. It follows a young aspiring writer called Francisca Imelda in 19th century Mexico who is approached by a prince to help write more nightmares. As he explains to her, if humans are no longer scared, then his kingdom of terrors will cease to exist.

The Mexican movie was first released in 2025 but will be landing globally on Netflix this weekend. The filmmakers were inspired by Guillermo del Toro and his visual language of fantastical creatures and dark fantasy can be felt throughout. If you love the art that goes into this kind of filmmaking as well as getting lost in a new world, this is definitely one to add to your weekend watchlist. Did we mention it was a musical too?

Muppets Most Wanted Extended Edition

While it's not something we were necessarily expecting, it's always a treat to have more Muppets to enjoy. This weekend Disney Plus is releasing a special longer edition of the 2014 movie Muppets Most Wanted. Previously only available on the Blu-Ray, this version features 12 minutes of extra footage. Fans who have seen it have called it the definitive version of the beloved movie as it subtly reshapes the story in a very satisfying way.

The additions include added character beats and more jokes, as well as expanded musical numbers. Viewers can enjoy extra verses and gags in this new version, which seems like a perfect watch for muppets fans and those wanting revisit the fun movie more than a decade on from its first release. Muppets Most Wanted Extended Edition arrives on June 14.

They Will Kill You

An action horror described by some as John Wick meets Tarantino is arriving on HBO Max this weekend. They Will Kill You stars Joker's Zazie Beetz, Severance's Patricia Arquette, and Harry Potter's Tom Felton in a thriller full of surprises. The story follows an ex-convict who answers a cryptic ad to become a housekeeper at a mysterious New York City highrise. However, when she's there, she soon realizes that this is not an ordinary home.

Several people have vanished from the building over the decades and it seems like a satanic cult may be the reason why. It's only been a few months since it came out in theaters, but you can already enjoy the gory slasher from the comfort of your sofa as it arrives on HBO Max.

With a new month comes a whole heap of new releases on streaming services to enjoy – and June is no exception. This first week brings with it several returning series as well as the release of a new Netflix original movie. Probably the most exciting pick of this weekend's options is Cape Fear, which adapts John D. MacDonald's The Executioners once again for the screen, this time starring Javier Bardem and Amy Adams.

That's by no means all there is to watch on the TV front either. On Prime Video, animated show The Legend of Vox Machina returns for its fourth season, which is now officially the penultimate season of the Critical Role adaptation. Then on AMC Plus, Interview With a Vampire returns with a new season titled The Vampire Lestat, which sees the titular vampire become a rockstar.

Films are equally as exciting this week as two major releases make their way onto streaming – and they couldn't be more different. Pixar movie Hoppers is now streaming on Disney Plus if you're after a family-friendly watch that's great fun, meanwhile Alexander Skarsgård's R-rated motorcycle romance is available on HBO Max. Finally, the queen of romantic comedies Jennifer Lopez is back for a new Netflix film written and starring Ted Lasso's Brett Goldstein.

Cape Fear

"Let me ask you a question, what is your worst fear?" Javier Bardem's chilling Max Cady asks in the new Apple TV Plus series Cape Fear. Based on John D. MacDonald's The Executioners, it follows Tom and Anna Bowden (played by Patrick Wilson and Amy Adams here) as they deal with Cady returning to their lives when he's released from prison. Vicious and unpredictable, he is after revenge from the pair who represented him 17 years ago.

If it sounds familiar, there's a reason. This book has actually been adapted twice before, by J. Lee Thompson in 1962 and by none other than Martin Scorsese in 1991. Scorsese is a producer on this version too alongside Steven Spielberg. And with such impressive talent on and behind the camera, it's no surprise that the show has been landing rave reviews already, with lots of praise for the performances from Bardem and Adams. The first two episodes are available to stream now with the rest of the limited series airing weekly.

The Legend of Vox Machina season 4

Based on Dungeons & Dragons web series Critical Role, The Legend of Vox Machina has won a lot of fans over its first three seasons for its fun, irreverent take on this beloved world. Now the show is back with a fourth outing, balancing comedy and adventure across 12 new episodes. This time, we pick up with Vox Machina, a year after they separated following the Chroma Conclave. Adventure, and a new evil rising, bring them back together once again to face an epic enemy.

Most of the voice cast are back for the penultimate season of the animated show, including the return of fan-favorite character Taryon Darrington (voiced by Wayne Brady). There's also a surprise introduction of Lord of the Rings star Andy Serkis too, who is voicing a mystery role in the new season, which you won't want to miss. The first three episodes are available now on Prime Video with new triple episode drops continuing until June 24.

The Vampire Lestat

Now before you start wondering if there's another new spin-off series arriving in the Anne Rice AMC universe, The Vampire Lestat is actually a continuation of the show that kicked this whole franchise off. This is Interview With the Vampire season 3, with a slight twist. Instead of continuing to tell this story from the point of view of Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson), the new episodes shift the perspective to Sam Reid's Lestat de Lioncourt after he wakes up in the modern world and becomes a rock star.

The change-up in format has definitely worked too as the series has debuted to a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes, with a lot of thanks due to Reid's magnetic performance as Lestat. This time around he uncovers new sides to his deeply flawed and interesting character and after all of the twists and turns in season 2, his relationship with Louis is still a key part of this story too and will unfurl in interesting ways across these seven episodes. The first episode arrives on June 7, with subsequent outings airing each Sunday on AMC Plus.

Office Romance

Rom-com queen Jennifer Lopez is back for a new Netflix movie written and starring Ted Lasso's Brett Goldstein. Office Romance sees Lopez play Jackie, the CEO of a fictional company called Air Cruz. Part of her iron fist rule of the company is an extremely rigid anti-fraternization policy for all her employees, which gets tested when lawyer Daniel (Goldstein) starts working for her and sparks fly.

It's pretty much exactly what you're asking for if you're in the mood for an easy, light-hearted watch. Goldstein's dialogue, co-scribed by Joe Kelly, adds an extra witty kick to this world too, making it an enjoyable watch. It's Lopez who is the real star here though, bringing back her goofball charm as a leading lady, well honed from movies like The Wedding Planner and Maid in Manhattan. Hoppers

Pixar's latest Hoppers is now available to watch on Disney Plus. The charming new animated movie imagines what might happen if scientists had discovered a way to transform human consciousness into robotic animals. Using the technology, our protagonist Mabel (voiced brilliantly by Piper Curda) "hops" into a robotic beaver to experience life as the animals live it. It's a great premise and one that Jesse Andrews' script handles deftly with humor, heart, and a lot of adventure.

The voice cast is pretty impressive too with Jon Hamm, Dave Franco, and Meryl Streep all starring in the movie. Widely called a return to form for Pixar, Hoppers received great reviews during its cinematic run so it's a bit of a no brainer to add it to your weekend streaming list too. Where to watch: HBO Max

If you're looking for a darker romance that Netflix's new rom-com, then Pillion is another streaming option for you this weekend. The Alexander Skarsgård and Harry Melling-led film that won over critics at film festivals is now finally heading to HBO Max. It stars Melling as a timid gay man named Colin who's world is broadened by Skarsgård's Ray, an enigmatic biker. The pair start a BDSM relationship, which causes Colin to change in unexpected ways.

Written and directed by Harry Lighton, the film is based on the 2020 novel Box Hill by Adam Mars-Jones. Brilliant writing and absorbing performances really elevate this one, which you can stream on HBO Max now.

Horror legend Guillermo del Toro says Widow's Bay is one of the best things to hit streaming in a long time, point blank period.

"If I may- in my estimation- #WidowsBay may very well be the best streaming series in a long time… and hands down one of the most mesmerizing acts of narrative prestidigitation in Horror," Del Toro tweeted.

The series follows Tom Loftis (Matthew Rhys), the skeptical mayor of a fictional, titular New England island town, who doesn't believe in ghosts or curses or the paranormal... until he starts experiencing an array of supernatural occurrences that suggest his quaint little town is most definitely cursed. The core cast includes Kate O'Flynn, Dale Dickey, Stephen Root, and Kevin Carroll. The very long list of guest stars features everyone from Toby Huss to Chris Fleming and Betty Gilpin.

Widow's Bay was created by Parks and Recs writer Katie Dippold, who is perhaps best known by the chronically online as the woman who dressed up as the Babadook for a friend's Halloween get-together... that no one else was dressed up at.

The 10-part series currently sits at a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, and I have a feeling Apple TV Plus will definitely be renewing it for a second season. The first season is still airing through June, so we have a bit of time yet.

We've reached the end of May and while several of the month's major releases have already come out, there's still a few more exciting launches happening this week. Probably the most exciting pick is Nicolas Cage's first TV role, as he stars in new Prime Video Spider-Man series, Spider-Noir.

That's not the only exciting release in our list of the best new shows and movies to stream this week, either. There's also a new spin-off to Apple TV Plus' beloved series For All Mankind, which turns the focus to the Soviet Union. Netflix's runaway hit comedy The Four Seasons is also back for a hilarious second outing as well.

On the movie side, there's an under-the-radar horror movie landing on Hulu and Disney Plus, as well as an Oscar-winning drama. Then, just in case you missed it in theaters, Maggie Gyllenhaal's The Bride! is also now out on streaming, starring newly minted Oscar winner Jessie Buckley.

Spider-Noir

Nicolas Cage swings onto the small screen in new Spider-Man show, Spider-Noir. He stars as an aging private investigator and former superhero called Ben Reilly. When a new case lands on his desk, he must grapple with his past and decide whether he wants to become The Spider once again. It's set in an alternate universe to the rest of Sony's Spider-Man movies, but Cage did first play the role in the Spider-Verse films. However, this new show is based more on the comics, adapted by Oren Uziel to introduce a new version of this character in a slick, genre-driven drama.

One of the most fun parts about this release is that you can watch it in both black and white or color (read how to do that here). It's also landed some pretty positive reviews, with praise mostly falling at Cage's feet for his authentic performance. Our own Spider-Noir review gave it 3.5 stars with our reviewer calling it "a delightfully camp, low-stakes romp through 1930s New York City that proves Nicolas Cage is still cooler than all of us." The Four Seasons season 2

The Four Seasons was a breakout hit for Netflix when its first season arrived back in May 2025. It's all-star cast got viewers hooked with Tina Fey, Steve Carell, Colman Domingo, and Will Forte all appearing in lead roles. However, it was the deft balance of all-out laughs and more tender emotion that was what made the show so popular with viewers and critics alike.

Now the show is returning with a second season, which follows in the wake of season 1's shock death. This time around, the group of friends navigate three new vacations with more baggage and a baby in tow. All eight episodes are available to stream now.

Star City

For All Mankind is undoubtedly one of Apple TV's best shows currently airing, telling an alternate history where the USSR was the first nation to reach the moon. In the original show, this kicked off a more intense space race that has been told from the American perspective so far. Well, now, new spin-off Star City is changing the narrative, telling the story from the perspective of the Soviet space agency.

It's an intriguing premise that will likely appeal to fans of the original show as well as newcomers to this sci-fi universe. What's more, it's got a seriously stacked cast of dramatic talent. Rhys Ifans plays the chief designer of the program, while Anna Maxwell Martin is the head of the KGB surveillance department at Star City. Early reviews have been very positive for the new show, which has opened to a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score. The first two episodes arrive on May 29, airing weekly thereafter.

The Bride!

Based on Mary Shelley's 1818 novel Frankenstein and the 1935 movie Bride of Frankenstein, The Bride! tells a new story set in a very familiar world. After impressing with her directorial debut, The Lost Daughter, The Dark Knight star Maggie Gyllenhaal is in both the writing and directing chair for this one. It stars Christian Bale as 'Frank', the monster created by Dr. Frankenstein, opposite Jessie Buckley as the titular Bride, a woman who is brought back from the dead to be his companion.

Buckley's performance as a radical rebel drives much of the movie, which split critics between fervent admirers and confused observers. Called a sci-fi fantasy version of Sid and Nancy and Natural Born Killers, it seems destined to become a cult classic. It's well worth your streaming time this weekend to make up your own mind on the 2026 release. The movie is available to watch now on HBO Max in the UK and the US.

Descendent

This pacy horror likely flew under your radar when it was first released in 2025. Produced by Marvel filmmaking duo Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead (who worked on Moon Knight and Daredevil: Born Again), this sci-fi thriller tells the story of a school security guard in Los Angeles who struggles to navigate his childhood trauma as he prepares for the birth of his first child.

However, things start to get pretty weird when he ends up seeing a mysterious beam of light one night on his shift. He wakes up after this odd encounter with images of aliens and desert landscapes plaguing his mind. The Walking Dead actor Ross Marquand stars in the lead role of this twisty and tense horror with a very decent 88% on Rotten Tomatoes. You can stream the movie on Hulu right now.

The Theory of Everything

Awards darling The Theory of Everything is now available to stream on Netflix. The biographical drama tells the love story of physicist Stephen Hawking (Eddie Redmayne) and his wife, Jane Wilde Hawking (Felicity Jones). The pair navigate his advancing illness and rising fame across three decades of their lives, beginning with their first meeting at Cambridge University.

If you missed this one when it was released back in 2014, it's well worth a watch now for its tender and emotional retelling of Hawking's life. Nominated for five Oscars and winning the Academy Award for Redmayne, it's easy to see why this movie is so well-loved. It's on Prime Video in the UK for four days before it heads to Netflix in the US on May 31.

The first trailer for Sugar season 2 has arrived, and John Sugar is back on the case.

In the brief clip, which can be viewed below, Sugar is tasked with another missing persons case... which involves gang violence, a corrupt police force, and a whole new cast of characters.

Season 2 sees Sugar return to investigate a new case: finding the missing older brother of an up-and-coming local boxer (as his search for his beloved missing sister continues). According to the official synopsis: "As the investigation expands into a city-wide conspiracy with sinister intentions, Sugar must reckon with himself to answer the question – how far will he go to do what’s right?"

Newcomers to the cast include Jin Ha, Raymond Lee, Marvel's very own Tony Dalton, Laura Donnelly, Sasha Calle, and Shea Whigham. You might also recall that rather dramatic twist at the end of season 1, which is teased oh so lightly at the end of the season 2 trailer: "Where are you from?" Charlotte asks. "Can we skip that one?" Sugar replies.

The series, created by The Cell and I Am Legend screenwriter Mark Protosevich, premiered on Apple TV Plus back in 2024 and was swiftly renewed for a second season. It also received an Emmy nomination for Best Cinematography for a Single-Camera Series (Half Hour). Sam Catlin, creator of AMC's Preacher, takes over as showrunner for season 2.

The first trailer for Ted Lasso season 4 has arrived, and the beloved football coach is back in action.

In the brief clip, which can be viewed above, Ted returns to Richmond to take on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a women's football team. He has some help, though, from Sex Education star Tanya Reynolds. We also see a montage of all our favorite characters, including Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, and Brett Goldstein. Brendan Hunt and Jeremy Swift are part of the returning cast, with new members including Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern, and Grant Feely.

The trailer reveals that Ted Lasso season 4 will hit Apple TV Plus on August 5. The show will air weekly episodes through October 7.

You might recall that the show was set to end after season 3, with the final episode titled, 'So Long, Farewell.' Star Jason Sudeikis surprise-announced the show's return on a podcast last year (and I think it might have something to do with all of those Ted Lasso dancing compilations going viral on TikTok).

The official synopsis reads: "The fourth season will see Ted return to Richmond, taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women’s football team. Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would."

Adam Scott knows how Severance ends – but he's not giving us any hints about what's in store for the Macrodata Refinement department.

"Oh, yes. I’m an executive producer on the show, so I’m involved in all of it," Scott, who plays grieving widower Mark Scout and his at-work "innie", Mark S., told Variety when asked if he knew the ultimate plan for the show. "We talk with the writers and Dan [Erickson, showrunner] all the time. I know everything about what’s going on. [As an actor] I like having as much information as possible."

As for Severance season 3, "It’s going to be great," he added. "There are so many surprises. I can’t wait to shoot it."

Severance season 2 wrapped up in March 2025 on Apple TV, almost three years after season 1 premiered. Hopefully, there isn't such a long wait for season 3 but, as Scott's comments suggest, production isn't underway just yet.

One big change to the show's third installment is that Ben Stiller won't be directing any episode, after helming half of season 2's 10-episode run. "I love directing it and look forward to at some point again for sure. I feel like season 3 is going to be the best yet as we continue to evolve," he said last year.

Next up for Scott is Hokum, a new horror movie about an author who travels to Ireland to spread his parents' ashes and discovers that his rented accommodation could be haunted. Directed by Damian McCarthy, the cast also includes Austin Amelio and David Wilmott.

A simple hike turns into a deadly cat-and-mouse game in Netflix's new action thriller Apex. The movie stars Charlize Theron as Sasha, a woman planning to test her limits in the unforgiving Australian wilderness. However, she makes the fatal error of trusting an amiable local for directions, played by Taron Egerton sporting a questionable accent, and he leads her into a trap. When they meet again in the bush, he tells her she has the length of a song to get "as far away from him as possible".

This looks like the perfect Friday night escapism watch, complete with beautiful locations and epic action sequences. There's some serious talent involved, too, as Egerton and Theron are great actors, which should elevate this from your usual Netflix thriller. At the very least, it's great to see Theron channel Furiosa-style action once again.

No Other Choice (Hulu)

No Other Choice may have been overlooked at the 2026 Oscars, but you shouldn't sleep on this excellent thriller now that it has hit streaming. Directed by Old Boy's Park Chan-wook, this South Korean black comedy stars Squid Game's Lee Byung-hun as a desperate salesman who decides to get the job he needs, he must kill off all of his competition.

The movie has a near-perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes, having been praised for being a clever and funny satire on the corporate rat race. It's a timely watch as well as being a masterfully made work of cinema from one of the greatest directors around. Marty Supreme (HBO Max)

Timothée Chalamet was nominated for an Oscar for Josh Safdie's engaging sports drama Marty Supreme. Arriving on HBO Max this weekend, it's well worth your time if you missed it on the big screen. Starring the Dune actor in the titular role, the drama charts the ups and downs of table tennis player Marty Mauser as he attempts to become world champion.

Chalamet is excellent as the wisecracking lead in this pacy and fun movie, bringing heart to a pretty unlikeable character. In a typical Safdie fashion, too, it moves at a thousand miles a minute, but you'll enjoy every second of the ride. It helps that Chalamet is joined by an impressive supporting cast, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A'zion, and Kevin O'Leary. One for the weekend watch list in our book.

Stranger Things: Tales from '85 (Netflix)

Just when we thought we'd said goodbye to Hawkins, Netflix gives us this treat of an animated show. Stranger Things: Tales from '85 tells a new story set between the second and third seasons of the main live-action series. It follows our favorite gang as the Upside Down starts causing issues for the small town once again.

While it's pretty confusing if you start navigating Stranger Things canon, taken on its own, this is a fun, nostalgia-filled joy ride. As our Stranger Things: Tales from '85 review says, it's the most kid-friendly version of this world yet and is full of fun. Take it at face value, and it seems like this could be the perfect weekend watch. More could be on its way too, according to what the showrunner told us recently...

Half Man (HBO Max)

Richard Gadd's hotly anticipated follow-up to Baby Reindeer has been on our radar since it was first announced. Although for those expecting something similar, think again, as Gadd looks almost unrecognizable as Ruben Pallister, the tough-as-nails and extremely violent half-brother of Jamie Bell's Niall Kennedy. When Ruben shows up unannounced at Niall's wedding, it proves to be a catalyst for unpicking 40 years of their relationship.

Told through flashbacks and present-day sequences, this limited series looks like a searing exploration of how different families can be. So far, reviews have been cautiously positive for the new show, with many praising its exploration of toxic masculinity. However, it seems like it's not for the faint of heart, with references to brutal sequences mentioned by almost every critic. A tough and important watch that shouldn't be missed.

Daredevil: Born Again season 2 episode 6 (Disney Plus)

We may be nearing the end of Daredevil: Born Again season 2, but thankfully, the latest episode hasn't slowed down the pace of the Marvel series. Episode six follows the aftermath of Vanessa Fisk's death as a familiar face makes an appearance. Yes, Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones is finally back on our screens – and we couldn't be happier to see the super-powered private investigator once again.

This season of the show has been hugely enjoyable, upping the stakes for Matt Murdock and Karen Page as they navigate a New York City run by Wilson Fisk and his Anti-Vigilante Task Force. This week's outing is especially a must-watch, as we build up to the final two episodes in this season.

Keanu Reeves' latest movie hasn't quite received the desired outcome on Rotten Tomatoes.

Outcome, a new dark comedy directed by Jonah Hill, is currently sitting at a disappointing score of 27% on the review aggregator site, based on 26 reviews.

Per the official synopsis, the Apple TV movie follows Reeves' Reef Hawk, "a beloved Hollywood star who must dive into the depths of his hidden demons after being extorted with a mysterious video that's sure to shatter his image and end his career." The cast also includes Cameron Diaz and Matt Bomer as Reef's best friends and Hill as his crisis lawyer.

Critics haven't taken kindly to Hill's latest directorial offering, though, with Collider writing, "Outcome is a fascinating mess that rides the line between sincerity and crassness."

"Whatever the right time would be for an exhausting comedy, laden with therapy-speak, about the hardships of film stardom, the current point of global distress is probably not it," reads the Financial Times' review.

Meanwhile, AV Club writes that "while there are affecting moments in Outcome about the perils of celebrity, far too often Hill comes close to true self-reflection, then quickly scurries away."

It's not all negativity, though. "There’s no denying Hill’s instinct for identifying the heart of a dramatic scene and turning the volume of the storytelling down low enough for us to hear it beating," says RogerEbert.com's review.

This is Hill's first time directing a fictional feature since 2018's Mid90s, a coming-of-age comedy about a teenager who begins spending time with an older group of skaters in '90s LA. Since then, he's also directed a documentary, Stutz, about his therapist.

Hijack showrunner Jim Field Smith isn't quite ready to say that he'll be jumping into season 3 now that season 2 has reached its finale. But he's keeping his options open about where it could take place, including some absurd ideas and some potentially compelling ones as well.

"If Apple decide they want another bite of the Hijack cherry, the question I will always ask is, what story is there for Sam? Not, where can we do it, but why?" Smith tells Variety. "Of course, yeah, it could be on a boat. It could be on an e-bike, it could be in the back of a limo, it could be, you know, a submarine. Or it could transcend the Hijack format and it could move into a different arena. But that's what I mean. The precinct is kind of irrelevant. It's more about 'Where could Sam go?'"

Smith says he doesn't "really think so much like that" when asked if he's been brainstorming any actual plots for season 3 yet, saying that he prefers to consider whether there's a good story for lead character Sam Nelson (Idris Elba).

"I don't really think so much like that. I think more like, is there more story for Sam? It's not so much like, 'Oh, could we do it again?' Because, of course, you can do it again," Smith explains. "Do I want to do it again, that's a different conversation. Right now I've literally just delivered this season."

War Machine (Netflix)

Alan Ritchson, known for his role as Jack Reacher in Prime Video's hit action series Reacher, stars in this new action movie that will have you on the edge of your seat (at least that's what the first trailer teased). Directed by Patrick Hughes, this new Netflix film gives very strong Predator vibes, but at a bigger scale.

Also starring Dennis Quaid, Stephan James, Jai Courtney, and Esai Morales, the film is set "during the final stage of U.S. Army Ranger selection" as "an elite team’s training exercise turns into a fight for survival against an unimaginable threat." Ritchson's Ranger, codenamed '81', will have to lead his squad of trainees in a seemingly hopeless battle against some kind of giant mech of undetermined origin.

Young Sherlock (Prime Video)

After leading Robert Downey Jr.'s take on Sherlock Holmes in the 2009 movie and its sequel Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, filmmaker Guy Ritchie is back once again to the world created by Arthur Conan Doyle. This time, we're going all the way back to Holmes' youth, with Hero Fiennes Tiffin starring as the beloved sleuth alongside Dónal Finn, Zine Tseng, Joseph Fiennes, Natascha McElhone, Max Irons and Colin Firth.

Based on Andrew Lane’s spin-off book series, Young Sherlock sees the character getting disgraced after being wrapped up in a murder case that threatens his freedom. In his first-ever case as a detective, Sherlock will have to uncover a global conspiracy that will change his life forever and will set him on the path towards Baker Street.

Rooster (HBO Max)

Ted Lasso and Shrinking creator Bill Lawrence is back with another dramedy, and we can't wait to sink our teeth into it. Premiering on Sunday, Rooster stars Steve Carell, Charly Clive, Danielle Deadwyler, Phil Dunster, John C. McGinley and Lauren Tsai, and it's set to run for ten episodes in this first season co-created by Matt Tarses.

Set on a college campus, Rooster follows a famous author (Carell) and his complicated relationship with his daughter (Clive). When her husband (Dunster) leaves her for a graduate student (Tsai) as her life unravels, her father decides to show up to help her, although instead he seems to have his own existential crisis.

The Hunt (Apple TV)

After an unexpected delay due to plagiarism allegations, The Hunt has finally premiered on Apple TV, and it's packed with action and suspense. The French six-episode series was created by Cédric Anger based on the novel Shoot by Douglas Fairbairn.

Per Deadline, the show follows Franck (Benoît Magimel) and his longtime friends as they go on one of their hunting weekend trips together. However, one Sunday, "they come across another group of hunters who start targeting them without explanation. When one of their party is shot, Franck's friends strike back, sending an attacker to the ground. Barely managing to escape, the four friends keep the event a secret. Franck tries to go back to his life as usual alongside his wife Krystel (Mélanie Laurent), but in the next few days, he starts to feel like he and his friends are being watched, or worse, tracked by hunters who are now hell-bent on revenge."

R.J. Decker (Hulu)

If you can't resist a detective series, you might want to take a look at R.J. Decker on Hulu. Inspired by Carl Hiaasen’s novel Double Whammy and written by Elementary's Rob Doherty, the ABC show sees Underworld star Scott Speedman leading the cast alongside Jaina Lee Ortiz, Bevin Bru, Kevin Rankin and Adelaide Clemens.

Tim Burton's stop-motion animated film Frankenweenie takes inspiration from Mary Shelley's iconic character to tell a beautiful (and monstrous) story about the undying love of a boy for his dog.

With the voice cast including huge stars like Winona Ryder, Martin Short, Martin Landau and the late Catherine O'Hara, the film follows Victor after the unexpected loss of his beloved dog Sparky. Devastated, Victor "harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life – with just a few minor adjustments," reads the synopsis. "He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor's fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new 'leash on life' can be monstrous."

Starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Karl Urban, this R-rated film doesn't pull any punches, described by the streamer as a "gritty, adrenaline-fueled action-adventure about family, survival, and the indomitable strength of a mother’s love."

Set in the 19th century, The Bluff follows Ercell 'Bloody Mary' Bodden (Chopra), a former seafaring raider who, after escaping a violent past, has found peace in the Caribbean alongside her husband (Ismael Cruz Cordova), her son Isaac (Vedanten Naidoo) and sister-in-law Elizabeth (Safia Oakley-Green). Their idyllic existence comes to an end when a menacing captain whom Ercell worked for (Urban) shows up seeking revenge.

As viewers know, both are the same woman, and Benedict will have to defy everything he's known all his life to be with her.

Get ready for a second part packed with romantic drama, steamy moments (the bath scene is upon us!) and the return of Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley as the fan-favorite couple Anthony and Kate. Per the official synopsis, season two "will pick up with the fate of Monarch – and the world – hanging in the balance. The dramatic saga reveals buried secrets that reunite our heroes (and villains) on Kong’s Skull Island, and a new, mysterious village where a mythical Titan rises from the sea. The ripple effects of the past make waves in the present day, blurring the bonds between family, friend and foe – all with the threat of a titan event on the horizon." Along with the returning cast, the show is welcoming Takehiro Hira, Amber Midthunder, Curtiss Cook, Cliff Curtis, Dominique Tipper and Camilo Jiménez Varón.

It's hard to talk about Paradise season 2 without spoiling the mindblowing events of the previous season, but we're going to try for the sake of those viewers who still have to catch up with one of the most unexpected shows airing today. The Hulu series sees Sterling K. Brown starring as Xavier Collins, a secret service agent investigating the murder of a former president (played by James Marsden) in a closed community isolated from the dangers of the outside world.

In the new episodes, Xavier will need to adapt to a new reality as he meets some new major characters, played by Shailene Woodley and Thomas Doherty. Creator Dan Fogelman told fans to brace themselves for an "intense, surprising and emotional" season 2 (via EW). We have been warned.

If you're looking for a documentary to watch this weekend, you might want to take a look at HBO Max's new miniseries Portobello. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Marco Bellocchio, it's been widely praised by critics, with The Wall Street Journal calling it "television with teeth."

Based on the 2016 book Lettere a Francesca, the show takes audiences back to 1980s Italy, telling the story of the infamous miscarriage of justice involving the king of Italian television at the time, Enzo Tortora. "The Irpinia earthquake delivers the final blow to the already fragile balance of the New Organized Camorra criminal organization," reads the official synopsis. "Giovanni Pandico, a trusted friend of crime boss Raffaele Cutolo and a regular viewer of Portobello, decides to repent. Interrogated by the judges, he names an unexpected person: Enzo Tortora."

Week by week, we've followed Ser Duncan the Tall (Peter Claffey) and his squire Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell) as they explore what it means to be an honourable knight. Blending the usual blood and violence from the Game of Thrones universe with a much more comedic and lighthearted tone, the series has been an absolute success, so make sure to be ready for the final episode of the season.

Now available to watch on streaming, this is a must-watch with an impressive 96% score on Rotten Tomatoes and critics praising Frank Dillane's "unflinchingly authentic performance."

Set in London, the British film follows Mike, a homeless man who does whatever he can to survive day by day. "Roadside evangelizers won't let him sleep in peace, his slippery friend won't pay up the money he stole, and before long, he finds himself in trouble with the law," reads the synopsis. "As he struggles to reintegrate into society, shuffling between gigs as a line cook and a trash collector, he must balance a newfound sense of community with his own itch for self-destruction."

How To Train Your Dragon (Netflix)

This live-action remake of the classic Dreamworks animation How to Train Your Dragon was a big hit in theaters – so much so that the sequel is already in production. But before that drops in June 2027, you'll need to check out the first chapter, which is now streaming on Netflix.

Once again helmed by director Dean DeBlois, HTTYD is an incredibly faithful adaptation of the original 'toon (some might say slavishly so...) in which young Hiccup befriends fearsome Night Fury Toothless, only to change the hostile relationship between Vikings and dragons forever. Perfect family viewing.

The Pope's Exorcist (HBO Max)

If you know anything about The Pope's Exorcist, it's probably that Russell Crowe's papal demon slayer rides a little moped around the Vatican. That should be enough to sell you on this exorcism horror, but if it isn't, Crowe's dubious Italian accent, teased in the trailer above, will convince anyone that they're in for a good time.

Based on the exploits of the pope's former chief exorcist, Father Gabriele Amorth, though (we hope) heavily embellished, it's about Fr. Amorth's investigation into the possession of an American boy in Spain. It's hardly, well, The Exorcist, but this fear flick, from Overlord director Julius Avery, is a frightfully good time.

The latest instalment in the long-running Predator franchise, Predator: Badlands is something a little different for the series. Instead of a story about a human hero being hunted by the ugliest mofo in movies, young Yautja Dek is Badlands' protagonist, and on a mission to earn his cloak by hunting the most dangerous creature in the galaxy.

Also starring Elle Fanning as a cheery Weylan-Yutani synthetic who accompanies Dek on his hunt, Badlands is a big swing that pays off, featuring some of the biggest (if not exactly bloodiest) action in the Predator series to date.

Cross season 2 (Prime Video)

Based on crime-writer James Patterson's best-selling Alex Cross novels, Cross season 2 is the perfect weekend binge watch if you've already wrapped up the fourth season of The Lincoln Lawyer over on Netflix.

Starring Aldiss Hodge (The Invisible Man) as the titular Washington detective, season 2 tells an original and timely Cross story about a vigilante who is hunting down corrupt billionaires. Can Cross catch the culprit before he strikes again? The second season is currently sitting on a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 90%, which is even higher than the first, making this a must-watch.

The Artful Dodger season 2 (Hulu)

The world probably didn't need a prestige TV sequel to Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist, but turns out Australian show The Artful Dodger, which sees now-doctor Jack Dawkins dragged back into a life of pickpocketing by Fagin, is a blast. And season 2 is now streaming on Hulu/Disney Plus.

Featuring the return of Thomas Brodie-Sangster as Dawkins/The Artful Dodger, and David Thewlis as Fagin, it's set some 15 years after the events of Oliver Twist, and hinges on the unrequited relationship between Dawkins and Lady Belle Fox (Maia Mitchell), the daughter of the local governor. Consider yourself well in.

The work surrounding Severance's future is mysterious and important – but the latest update from the Apple TV sensation doesn't sound promising to me.

As reported by Deadline, Apple has now acquired the rights for Severance from studio Fifth Season.

While news of IP transference might see your eyes glaze over as if you were reciting the Compunction Statement in the Break Room, talk of Severance's future plans might make you light up a little more.

According to the outlet, the plan is very much for Severance to run for 'at least' four seasons, with a fifth season unlikely at this current stage.

It's beyond that, though, where things get interesting (or worrying, depending on your perspective).

Creator Dan Erickson and executive producer/director Ben Stiller are reportedly open to expanding the Severance universe. If not quite reaching MCU levels of critical mass, there is suggestion from Deadline of prequels, spinoffs and foreign versions of the show.

Mystery box shows are always hard to keep at a high, satisfying level – just ask Lost. But the prospect of prequels and spin-offs, peeling back layers of Lumon even further, could run counter to everything that makes Severance so appealing. If everything is explained, what is there to keep coming back for? Besides, hinting at the likes of Cobel's traumatic past rather than outright following it only enriches the characters in the long run.

Still, Erickson and Stiller haven't made many creative missteps to date, so there could be a Better Call Saul-style gem just waiting to be mined from the potential franchise plans.

In the short-term, there are plans afoot to start shooting Severance season 3 this summer. After the years-long wait between Severance seasons 1 and 2, some of which stalled its early narrative momentum, that gives us fresh hope that we could return to the winding corridors of Lumon by the end of 2027.

Set almost 300 years after the events of 2017's War for the Planet of the Apes, the film sees feral young woman Mae (The Witcher's Freya Allan) team up with young chimpanzee Noa (Owen Teague) to thwart the plans of tyrannical ape leader known as Proximus Caesar (Abigail's Kevin Durand), who has twisted the legendary Caesar's teachings and enslaved a bunch of chimpanzees in his hunt for the last traces of human technologies.

Harrison Ford says he wouldn't mind if his career ended after his time on the Apple TV comedy-drama Shrinking, which he calls a "very special" and nurturing experience.

"Where do you go from here? The kind of work that we’re able to do is remarkable given the tools we have to work with, and the notion that lies behind this series," Ford said during an Apple TV press day panel (via The Hollywood Reporter). "And if it was all over here, that would be sufficient. This has been a different kind of job for me, and I’ve been doing this for a long time. This is very special and it really nurtures me and makes me feel like what we’re doing has value and importance. I look for that in my life, and I’m happy to have found it here."

The series stars Jason Segel as Jimmy, a grieving and recently widowed therapist who starts to drop the "therapy speak" and start telling his clients exactly what he thinks (which is, uh, more or less unethical). Ford plays fellow therapist and colleague Paul, with whom he has quite the up-and-down relationship. The series was created by Segel, Ted Lasso showrunner and co-creator Bill Lawrence, as well as writer and Roy Kent star Brett Goldstein. The cast includes Christa Miller, Jessica Williams, Michael Urie, Luke Tennie, Lukita Maxwell, and Ted McGinley.

Ford started his career back in 1964, and became a global phenomenon thanks to his role as Han Solo in 1977's Star Wars. He would go on to become action-adventure hero Indiana Jones, and star in the Blade Runner film franchise. Since Shrinking's premiere in 2023, Ford has received several accolades, including his first-ever Emmy nomination. A fourth season was announced last month.

Fear not Pluribus fans, as series creator Vince Gilligan has made it clear that work is being done on Pluribus season 2 – but warns not to expect as quick a turnaround as other shows.

“We're plugging away. My writers are plugging away. All the folks, if you like the show, thank you for getting us here on this stage. It takes a long time to come up with these episodes," said Gilligan during an Apple TV press day, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. "We are deeper into the process at this moment than I would like, considering how few episodes we have figured out. But it takes some time, just as it did the first season."

Gilligan is very much aware of the speed at which other TV shows are pumping out new seasons, but said Pluribus "ain't gonna be The Pitt, coming back every year." The Breaking Bad creator added, "I wish it would be because it's an awesome show that's old-school, like we used to do The X-Files [when] we'd come back the same month every year. It will not be like The Pitt. We'll come back the same month – just the question is what year."

Medical drama The Pitt landed on HBO in January 2025, only to return more or less exactly one year later in 2026. With Giligan's comments, we can expect Pluribus, which launched in November 2025, not to make an appearance in November 2026, or maybe even 2027. It is true that Breaking Bad was released in consecutive seasons from 2008 to 2012. However, it is quite rare for TV shows nowadays to do the same, with series such as House of the Dragon taking two years at a time to release a new season.

Following Better Call Saul star Rhea Pluribus as a miserable writer named Carol who must save the world from happiness, Pluribus season 1 debuted to rave reviews from audiences and critics alike, scoring an impressive 98% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, the Pluribus ending left fans on quite a cliffhanger, putting even more pressure on the show's return.

Amy Adams is having a very bad day in the tense first look at Apple TV's Cape Fear remake. Fortunately, we're having a better time of it, with the streamer confirming when the show's premiere: June 5.

Based on Martin Scorsese's 1991 thriller of the same name, which was itself inspired by John D. MacDonald's 1957 novel The Executioners, the new 10-episode show is set to see Dune star Javier Bardem play Max Cady, a recently reintegrated killer who vows to get revenge on the attorneys that sent him to prison. Bad news for Adams' Anna and Patrick Wilson's Tom, who appear appropriately... concerned in the tension-filled trio of newly unveiled images.

While we've not got an awful lot to go on with the stills, it seems reasonable to assume that Adams and Bardem's are from the same scene, with both wearing fancy clothes and appearing to be at some sort of swanky event. Note the microphones, and it paints the picture that the grinning Cady has just presented himself to Anna for the first time since his conviction – and judging by her expression, she certainly hadn't expected to ever see him again.

In his snap, which you can check out below, Wilson is sporting a blue shirt and a furrowed brow while he stands in a lavish-looking yard. While we've not seen them in character yet, Joe Anders (1917), Lily Collias (Roofman), Jamie Hector (The Wire), Malia Pyles (Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin) and Anna Baryshnikov (Love Lies Bleeding) round out the ensemble cast.

In Scorsese's take, which was actually a remake of Gregory Peck's 1962 feature-length adaptation, Cady was brought to life by Robert De Niro, while Nick Nolte and American Horror Story's Jessica Lange played the married couple he was hellbent on ruining. Juliette Lewis (Yellowjackets) also starred as the Bowdens' daughter.

This time around, Nick Antosca, who genre fans will know as the guy who created horror anthology Channel Zero and Netflix's Brand New Flavor, acts as showrunner. When it comes to executive producing, Scorsese took on said duties alongside Adams, Bardem, and Steven Spielberg.

Watch out Barbie, Apple has unveiled the first look at Sam Hargrave’s Matchbox The Movie based on the beloved Matchbox cars from Mattel, and it looks like a barrel of fun.

As part of the Apple Press TV Day, the streamer has released three images from the upcoming action-adventure movie and has announced that Matchbox The Movie will premiere globally on Apple TV on Friday, October 9, 2026.

The first image, which you can see below, shows Peacemaker star John Cena running between a set of cars, and he looks to be a little bloody and bruised. The second image features Cena, Jessica Biel, Sam Richardson, Teyonah Parris, and Arturo Castro, suited and booted in glitzy dresses and tuxedos, walking into what looks like a special event.

The third picture, which you can see above, gives us a little taste of the level of action we can expect to see in the movie, with a helicopter flying above a road where a truck, car, and motorbike are racing ahead. Aside from the Ford pickup in the middle, Matchbox fans might be able to spot that the car to the left is a Ford Mustang GT, which was a popular car in the toy collection.

Inspired by the iconic Mattel toys, Apple describes Matchbox The Movie as an "action-packed, globetrotting adventure about a group of friends since childhood who have their lives upended when undercover CIA agent Sean (John Cena), their long-absent former leader, returns to their small town and unwittingly gets them embroiled in a frantic international pursuit to save the world."

Alongside Cena, Biel, Richardson, Parris, and Castro, the wider cast includes Corey Stoll, Bill Camp, Danai Gurira, Golshifteh Faranhani and more. Hargrave, best known for helming the Extraction movies starring Chris Hemsworth, directs from a script written by David Coggeshall and Jonathan Tropper.

Apple TV has unveiled the first look at Lucky, a new limited drama series starring Anya Taylor-Joy in her first small-screen role since Netflix hit The Queen's Gambit in 2020.

"So, why are we here, Lucky?" asks a voice in the new teaser trailer, which was released as part of the streamer's Press Day Announcements. "It's like anything else," Taylor-Joy's titular protagonist replies. "A series of bad decisions over an extended period of time."

Per the official synopsis, "When a multi-million-dollar heist goes sideways, con artist Lucky is forced to go on the run. Pursued by both the FBI and a ruthless crime boss, Lucky must fight for her life – and a way out." The action-packed teaser certainly lives up to this promise: we get fleeting glimpses of Lucky leaping between buildings, burning vehicles, an FBI raid, and even some romance.

The show's cast also includes Annette Bening, Timothy Olyphant, Aunjanue Ellis Taylor, and Drew Starkey, and you can check out the first look at their unnamed characters below.

Based on the New York Times bestselling novel of the same name by Marissa Stapley, the show was written by Star Wars: Starfighter screenwriter Jonathan Tropper and executive produced by Reese Witherspoon.

Next up for Taylor-Joy is The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, in which she'll return as the voice of Princess Peach. Later this year, she'll also star as Alia Atreides in Dune 3.

Move over, Godzilla. Step aside, Kong. There's a new threat in town – and it could spell disaster for everybody in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2.

Backed, fittingly, by the song 'I've Just Destroyed the World', the trailer Monarch's second season picks up where the first left off – namely, with a few years having passed in the Hollow Earth and our assembled crew unwittingly unleashing havoc near Skull Island.

The focus is on a towering Titan (described as "like a god" in one voiceover) known as Titan X, an amphibious creature that even makes the likes of Godzilla and Kong look slightly small fry by comparison.

Kurt Russell's elder Lee Shaw has a solution, however. "To destroy a monster, it takes another monster."

Enter: Kong and Godzilla. The best of monstrous frenemies have never quite seen eye to eye, but they'll have to when facing down the threat of Titan X, who appears to be terrorizing more than one timeline.

In a recent interview with SFX magazine, producer Tory Tunnell teased the new kaiju on the block, saying it's something we've never seen before.

Tunnel said, "It's really exciting to launch a new monster here, and with [VFX supervisor] Sean [Konrad's] collaboration, it feels dynamic and exciting and something we haven't seen before," before detailing how much of the inspiration for the aquatic monster stemmed from real-world undersea terrors. We don't think we'll be going for a swim anytime soon…

Fallout season 2 finale

After a chaotic and tense sophomore season, it all boils down to this. The Fallout season 2 finale hits Prime Video this Tuesday and will finally give us all the answers we have been searching for. Based on the hit video game Fallout: New Vegas, season 2 has so far followed Lucy and the Ghoul on their exploits through the Mojave Wasteland as they tracked down Hank all the way to New Vegas. All the while, the Brotherhood of Steel grew power crazy with cold-fusion technology now in their hands. Plus, we learned a lot about the events leading up to the apocalypse, too.

However, in Fallout season 2 episode 8 titled 'The Strip', we will see Lucy make a huge decision and figure out what she's going to do with the Congresswoman's head. Yes, you read that right. Plus, Hank's master plan with his mainframe will finally come to fruition, and Maximus will face some Deathclaws. You don't want to miss it.

The Muppet Show

Who doesn't love the Muppets? We know we do. It has been way too long since we have seen Jim Henson's vibrant and hilarious puppets let loose on a new project. But the wait is almost over as Kermit, Miss Piggy, and the rest of the gang are set to return to our screens in The Muppet Show. In celebration of the original show's 50th anniversary, The Muppet Show will see the gang return to the small screen after four decades with a classic variety show, paying homage to the classic series that ran from 1975 to 1981.

In true Muppet fashion, expect brand new music, comedy sketches, and lots of backstage chaos. Plus, the special event includes a ton of cameos from actors such as Seth Rogan and popstar Sabrina Carpenter, who seems to have already found a rival in Miss Piggy.

The Lincoln Lawyer season 4

The highly addictive Netflix series The Lincoln Lawyer is back for its fourth season. Based on the bestselling book series by Michael Connelly, season 4 adapts the novel 'The Law of Innocence', which sees Manuel Garcia Rulfo's idealistic lawyer Mickey Haller face his toughest case yet. But this time, it's Haller himself in the hot seat. When accused of the murder of his former client, Sam Scales, Haller and his team must work around the clock to prove his innocence and clear his name.

This season will force Haller's team to go head-to-head with the DA's office and the FBI at the same time, all the while Haller faces dark figures from his troubled past. Season 3 blew fans away and stands at a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, so we cannot wait to see how season 4 fares.

What better way to spend the lead-up to Valentine's Day than cozying up with a new romantic comedy? Starring pop star turned movie star Kelly Rowland, Relationship Goals follows a TV producer called Leah who sets her sights on becoming the first woman running New York's top morning show. However, a spanner is thrown in the works when her ex Jarrett competes for the same role. To make things just a little trickier, the two didn't end their relationship on good terms.

However, Jarrett claims he has changed his ways with the help of a book titled 'Relationship Goals.' As Leah and her friends study the book more closely, she finds herself growing closer to Jarrett as their chemistry starts to fire up again. This could either be the perfect enemies-to-lovers situation, or Leah might learn the hard lesson of why you should leave the past in the past.

The Investigation of Lucy Letby

Netflix is becoming the place to go for gripping true crime documentaries, with its 2025 feature The Perfect Neighbor earning an Oscar nomination in January 2026. But this week, the streamer will bring to light one of the UK's most shocking cases in recent years, and pull back the curtain on the nurse charged with the murders of seven babies and the attempted murders of seven others between 2015 and 2016.

The Investigation of Lucy Letby takes a closer look at Letby's crimes and includes never-before-seen footage of the nurse during her arrest and questioning. The trailer for the documentary shows police apprehending Letby in her bedroom while she lay in bed, and shows clips of her parents standing outside as she was taken away. The documentary also features insider accounts and interviews from those close to the case that both divided and shook a nation.

Despite the story being brought to life numerous times, this version is one of the most experimental, only adapting half of the novel's 34 chapters, and softening Heathcliff's harsh, abusive childhood.

However, Emerald Fennell's upcoming adaptation may bend the original tale even further. Helmed by Blue Beetle director Ángel Manuel Soto, the buddy cop action comedy follows two estranged half-brothers, Jonny (Momoa) and James (Bautista), who are forced to reunite after their father's mysterious death. "As they set out to uncover the truth, buried secrets resurface and loyalties are tested, unveiling a conspiracy that can tear their family apart. Together, they are ready to WRECK anything that gets in their way," reads the official synopsis.

Wicked Little Letters (Hulu)

In GamesRadar+ we described it as "an ultimately rather cosy tale of British eccentricity" with "a superb cast," and we still stand by it! Wicked Little Letters is a hilarious and highly entertaining watch where Olivia Colman and Jessie Buckley insult each other for almost two hours. What else could you ask for?

Based on a real-life 1920s scandal, the film is set in the English coastal town of Littlehampton, where residents begin receiving a series of foul-mouthed anonymous letters. Everyone wants to blame Irish immigrant and single mum Rose (Buckley), particularly her pious neighbor and victim Edith (Colman) and her religious parents (Timothy Spall, Gemma Jones), but young police officer Gladys (Anjana Vasan) is determined to find the truth.

Watch out HBO as Apple has landed an unprecedented deal with hugely popular fantasy writer Brandon Sanderson, and is planning to create an on-screen universe that could grow bigger than Game of Thrones.

The streaming giant has landed the rights to Sanderson's Cosmere book series, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The saga includes book series Elantris, Mistborn, Warbreaker, The Stormlight Archive, White Sand, Tress of the Emerald Sea, Yumi and the Nightmare Painter, The Sunlit Man, Isles of the Emberdark, as well as short stories featured in Arcanum Unbounded: The Cosmere Collection.

Sanderson's Cosmere universe is set around a mysterious being called Adonalsium from Yolen who was killed by conspirators, causing its power to shatter into sixteen different Shards. Sixteen of the conspirators then took a shard and traveled to new worlds, but each Shard has a different intent, such as Ruin, Ambition, and Honor, and so each world controlled by the shard bears that certain quality.

Apple is already looking to adapt the books Mistborn into a series. The first Mistborn book series follows a group of metal-ingesting sorcerers who attempt to overthrow a dystopian empire, and the next trilogy jumps forward 300 years and follows a character who investigates kidnappings and robberies. The third and fourth series, which have not been written yet, will be set in the '80s and in space.

The streamer also wants to turn The Stormlight Archive into a TV show, and already has producers attached. The Stormlight Archives spans over five books, with more on the way. The stories are set in a world where knights and monsters control magical storms and use them as a source of strength and power.

Sanderson will hold control over the screen translations, write, produce, and consult on each adaptation. Not even George R.R. Two years after season 3 set out to mark the end of the series, Apple TV has shared the first look at Ted Lasso season 4, which is hitting the streamer very soon.

In the first look images, which you can check out below, we can see Jason Sudeikis back as Ted, but this time he's coaching a women's football team alongside Sex Education star Tanya Reynolds. In another picture, we can see Ted reunited with Hannah Waddingham's character, Rebecca Welto,n standing outside of a private jet. So, we can assume the owner of the AFC Richmond soccer team is still successful.

The third image shows Ted enjoying some good old British grub at a pub, where he is being served by Mae Green (Annette Badland), owner of The Crown and Anchor pub in Richmond. As well as releasing the first look, Apple TV has also confirmed that Ted Lasso season 4 will release this summer 2026.

We all thought we had seen the last of the soccer show after its third instalment. Ted Lasso season 3 episode 12 titled 'So Long, Farewell,' saw Ted say his goodbyes and head back to the US after AFC Richmond played their final match of the season. However, due to popular demand, the series is back, but it will find Ted in a very different situation

The synopsis from Apple TV reads, "The fourth season will see Ted return to Richmond, taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women’s football team. Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would."

Alongside Sudeikis, Waddingham, and Badland, stars Juno Temple, Jeremy Swift, Brendan Hunt, and Brett Goldstein are also set to return.

One Monarch: Legacy of Monsters producer has teased the upcoming Titan X in season 2.

If, like us, you're already monstrously excited for the next instalment of Apple's Godzilla spin-off, then you probably don't need much more convincing. Still, the words of producer Tory Tunnell might have you wishing you had spent the last few months in the Hollow Earth so time could run a little quicker.

"It's really exciting to launch a new monster here, and with [VFX supervisor] Sean [Konrad's] collaboration, it feels dynamic and exciting and something we haven't seen before," Tunnell told SFX Magazine of the new Titan.

Titan X has already been glimpsed in pre-release marketing material: a deep-sea creature with striking blue eyes and hook-like tentacles that might give Godzilla and Kong – who briefly appeared in a Skull Island cameo at the end of the first season – a serious, kaiju-sized headache.

The Southern Hemisphere-based Titan's design stemmed from conversations with Konrad's deep cuts pulled from the real-life deep blue sea.

"Sean will often invite us on [Zoom calls] to look at species that are real," Tunnell says. "You think you're an educated human, and you know what creatures exist on this planet, and then suddenly Sean shows you things and you're like, 'Oh, my God, that's real? Where is that?'"

She continues, "We really want to have these new Titans rooted in reality, so we spend a lot of time making sure that they make sense, like the way that they’re moving, or whatever their fuel is, and that the whole idea is integrated. We're also trying to match it thematically with what we're doing in the show. There's a lot of conversations that go into it."

Also starring Archie Madekwe and Jacob Fortune-Lloyd, Steal follows an office worker who gets caught up in the crime of the century.

The official logline reads, "A typical work day at a pension fund investment company, Lochmill Capital, is upended when a gang of violent thieves burst in and force Zara (Turner) and her best mate Luke (Madekwe) to execute their demands. But who would steal billions of pounds of ordinary people’s pensions and why? DCI Rhys (Fortune-Lloyd) is determined to find out, but as a recently relapsed gambling addict, Rhys must keep his own money problems at bay while dealing with the secret agendas and competing interests at the center of this far-reaching crime."

If you enjoyed The Substance, Hulu's new show might be the perfect watch for you. Ryan Murphy's new creation is called The Beauty, and it's based on the comic book of the same name by Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley. Created alongside Matt Hodgson, the new series boasts a star-studded cast, including Evan Peters, Anthony Ramos, Jeremy Pope, Ashton Kutcher, and Rebecca Hall.

Per the logline, "A sexually transmitted treatment known as 'the Beauty' spreads rapidly, granting users physical attractiveness while concealing lethal side effects. As deaths and public panic escalate, an FBI investigation and competing interests converge on the forces behind the drug and the epidemic it sparks."

Drops of God is the kind of show that flies under the radar, but it's totally worth a watch. The Apple TV show is based on the manga series of the same name written by Tadashi Agi and illustrated by Shu Okimoto, with the French-Japanese production team creating an unusual and unexpected story.

The first season saw a fierce battle to own the world's finest private wine collection, belonging to the late Alexandre Léger. His estranged daughter Camille wanted to claim her inheritance, but first she had to battle Alexandre's protégé, Issei, in a series of wine-related tests. What can viewers expect from season 2? Set three years after the events of season 1, the new episodes see Camille and Issei embarking on a journey to uncover the origin of the world’s greatest wine, traveling the world and strengthening their sibling bond.

Cosmic Princess Kaguya! (Netflix)

As Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 and Frieren: Beyond Journey's End season 2 lead an impressive start of the anime winter season this month, another title might be worthy of your attention. We're talking about Netflix's Cosmic Princess Kaguya!, a reimagining of the folktale The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter (which has inspired many other anime stories, including Studio Ghibli's The Tale of the Princess Kaguya). It's also the directorial debut of Shingo Yamashita, who anime fans might know for his work on the opening sequences of series like Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man.

The story is set in a virtual space known as Tsukuyomi, and follows a high school girl who discovers a mysterious baby emerging from a glowing telephone pole (yep, that's Kaguya). The pair launch a streaming career in Tsukuyomi, but their dreams threaten to get shattered by ominous forces trying to reclaim Kaguya for the moon.

The Smashing Machine (HBO Max)

Dwayne Johnson is unrecognizable in this sports biopic, which might still get him an Academy Award nomination (though it's unlikely due to strong competition). Despite underperforming at the box office, The Smashing Machine was a success with critics since premiering at the Venice Film Festival, where Benny Safdie won the Silver Lion for his directing work.

The film sees the actor transform into MMA fighter Mark Kerr, and explores what happens when the fighter faces loss and the psychological ramifications of such a blow. Emily Blunt plays Kerr's wife, Dawn Staples, reuniting with Johnson after starring together in the Disney film Jungle Cruise.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage (Disney Plus)

Starring Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams and Woody Harrelson, the film follows Eddie Brock and Venom's struggles to cohabitate, which leads Eddie to interview serial killer Cletus Kasady and his relationship with his own alien symbiote called Carnage.

Directed by Joe Carnahan, the film also stars Steven Yeun, One Battle After Another's Teyana Taylor, The Flash star Sasha Calle, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Scott Adkins, and Kyle Chandler.

Real-life besties Affleck and Damon play two police officers whose lives turn upside down when they find a $20 million haul during an operation. From there it's a race against time. Per the official logline: "Upon discovering millions in cash in a derelict stash house, trust among a team of Miami cops begins to fray. As outside forces learn about the size of the seizure, everything is called into question – including who they can rely on."

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (HBO Max)

The world of Games of Thrones is back with A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, a new series that takes us right back to Westeros. Now, don't expect many connections to the characters that we've seen on screen so far – based on George R.R. Martin's Dunk and Egg tales, the show is set 100 years before the events of Game of Thrones, and 100 years after House of the Dragon.

Another thing to expect is a very different tone, as this new show is not so much about epic fights and instead goes for more comedic adventures. Starring Peter Claffey as Dunk and Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg, the story follows Ser Duncan the Tall and his strange squire, who isn't what he seems. It's the perfect break from the dragons ahead of House of the Dragon season 3.

Tell Me Lies season 3 (Hulu)

Hulu's popular college drama Tell Me Lies is back with a brand-new season, which will take Lucy and Stephen's toxic relationship to new heights. Based on Carola Lovering's novel of the same name, the show sees Grace Van Patten and Jackson White reprising their lead roles, while newcomers Iris Apatow and Costa D'Angelo will add more drama to the story.

Per Deadline, the new season will see Lucy and Stephen back together after the events of the previous season, with the pair vowing that "things will be different in their relationship, but the past comes back to bite them". The show will also include a controversy with Lucy, as "repercussions from last season will also force the greater friend group to face their own indiscretions" while "secrets that threaten to break out tease consequences for many."

Idris Elba is back as Sam Nelson for a new season of Hijack, and we can't think of a better way feel to energized as we survive the month of January. The Apple TV Plus series is a shot of adrenaline, delightfully tense, gripping and absorbing, and with an outstanding Elba leading the cast. We expect nothing less of season 2, which presents an equally intense scenario for the protagonist.

Arriving almost three years after the first season, Hijack season 2 sees a Berlin underground train and its commuters taken hostage, as authorities work to save hundreds of lives. Enter Nelson, who somehow is at the heart of the crisis on board, and will have to use his skills as a talented business negotiator to save the day.

"With help from Annabeth, Clarisse and his newfound cyclops half-brother Tyson, Percy’s survival becomes essential to stopping Luke, the Titan Kronos, and their impending plan to bring down Camp Half-Blood – and ultimately, Olympus."

A new trailer for season 2 of Apple TV Plus' Monarch: Legacy of Monsters streaming series is here, and it digs deep into both the past and present to show off a new kaiju nicknamed Titan X who seems to be even more dangerous than King Kong and Godzilla.

Here's the trailer, featuring father and son Kurt and Wyatt Russell each playing Army officer Lee Shaw across multiple time periods:

"Season two will pick up with the fate of Monarch - and the world - hanging in the balance," reads Apple TV Plus' official synopsis for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2. "The dramatic saga reveals buried secrets that reunite our heroes (and villains) on Kong's Skull Island, and a new, mysterious village where a mythical Titan rises from the sea. The ripple effects of the past make waves in the present day, blurring the bonds between family, friend and foe - all with the threat of a titan event on the horizon."

Monarch spins out of the so-called 'Monsterverse' which encompasses the adventures of King Kong and Godzilla as they tromp through cities, wreak havoc in battle with each other, and even join forces to take on bigger, more dangerous monsters.

The streaming series tells the story of Monarch, an organization dedicated to monitoring and tracking kaiju activities across the globe. In the new season, it seems they've opened a portal that will allow even more threatening monsters to enter our world, including the awesomely imposing Titan X, the kaiju at the heart of the new season.

Pluribus season 2 will start filming as soon as possible, according to Rhea Seehorn. The actor, who just won a Golden Globe for her lead performance as Carol Sturka in the first season of the Apple TV Plus show, has confirmed that creator Vince Gilligan and the rest of the team are "back in the writers room", as they don't want to make fans wait longer than strictly necessary.

"I know he wants us to go as soon as possible. He's not playing any kind of game to make people wait for this. But he wants to craft the show with all the care for his fans and the people following this story that he can. So we'll get back as fast as we can," she said following her Golden Globe win (via Deadline).

However, with filming yet to start, it's unlikely that we'll get to see new episodes until next year. Gilligan revealed writing for the new season had only just begun back in November (via Radio Times), and last month he warned fans that "it's going to be a while between seasons", adding: "It's just the nature of the beast."

Pluribus, which became the most-watched show on Apple TV Plus after beating Severance, follows a romance author who just so happens to be one of the only people in the world immune to the effects of a virus known as 'the Joining', which has turned everyone else into an obedient hive mind known as 'the Others'.

The Pluribus season 1 ending aired only a few weeks ago (December 26), leaving many unanswered questions and plenty of betrayals to unpack in the upcoming new season.

Talking exclusively to GamesRadar+, Seehorn admitted she doesn't know what the finale means. "I made peace with [that]. Even if Vince was saying we don't know where we're going with it, usually as an actor I would make an intentional decision about what I think Carol's plan is," she explained.

"Maybe this makes me a horrible actor," she continued. "I honestly think Carol is not sure. I didn't do it out of laziness. I did it because one of her flaws – that sometimes is a superpower – is that she's so impulsive. She's just so impulsive and acts before she thinks. I think she knows she's got to do something big, and I'm not really sure what she's going to do with it."

The Night Manager is finally back! It's been eight years since the ending of the first season of the British show, with fans patiently waiting for the continuation of the story starring Tom Hiddleston. The wait is over – season 2 is releasing on Prime Video this weekend, and it's the best start of the year for fans of spy thrillers and intense action.

Hiddleston reprises his role as former British intelligence operative Jonathan Pine in the new episodes, which continue to be based on the characters created by John le Carré. The show finds Pine living a comfortable and uneventful life away from spy business, when one night he gets involved in a new case when he is forced to confront Colombian businessman Teddy Dos Santos (played by Diego Calva). Camila Morrone and Indira Varma also join the cast, with Olivia Colman reprising her role as Angela Burr.

The Pitt season 2 (HBO Max)

Ready to get back into the emergency room? The Pitt season 2 premiered this week on HBO Max after an incredibly successful first season last year, and the stakes will be higher than ever before. ER alum Noah Wyle headlines the show as Dr. Michael 'Robbie' Robinavitch, the longsuffering leader of the emergency room at the fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center hospital.

While the first season dealt with the gruesome aftermath of a violent mass shooting at a music festival, the second season will take place over a fourth of July weekend, 10 months after the events of the first season. Much like that first batch of episodes, the new season follows a full 15-hour hospital shift with each episode representing an hour of real time.

A Thousand Blows season 2 (Hulu)

Peaky Blinders' creator Steven Knight is delivering this week another season of Hulu's boxing drama A Thousand Blows, and we're here for it. With Adolescence stars Stephen Graham and Erin Doherty leading the cast alongside Malachi Kirby, the show is inspired by the true-life stories of a group of characters battling for survival in the brutal East End of London in the 1880s.

In the new season, set one year after the events of season 1, we see Hezekiah in a broken state and Henry in self-destruct mode, but Mary Carr's return to reclaim her criminal empire in the East End will force them to get back into the ring as they navigate old rivalries and plan their revenge.

Tehran season 3 (Apple TV Plus)

With season 4 already confirmed, Tehran is here for the long run, and we have new episodes to watch this weekend. Created by Dana Eden, Moshe Zonder, and Maor Kohn, the Apple TV Plus show, which follows a Mossad hacker-agent who infiltrates Tehran under a false identity to help destroy Iran's nuclear reactor, shouldn't be flying under your radar.

The new episodes follow Tamar Rabinyan's journey after mourning the loss of her closest allies and going rogue at the end of season 2. Now, the protagonist must find a way to reinvent herself and win back the Mossad’s support if she is to survive. Niv Sultan reprises her role as Tamar, while House star Hugh Laurie joins the show as a South African nuclear inspector, Eric Peterson.

The Artful Dodger (Disney Plus)

With season 2 coming on February 10, Disney Plus has added to its library the first season of Hulu's Australian series The Artful Dodger, so you can catch up ahead of the new episodes. A sort of sequel to Charles Dickens' beloved novel Oliver Twist from 1838, it stars The Maze Runner actor Thomas Brodie-Sangster and Harry Potter star David Thewlis.

Described by the streamer as "a tale of reinvention, betrayal, redemption, and love with a twist", the show follows Jack Dawkins, "whose fast, pickpocketing fingers have turned into the skilled hands of a surgeon". The synopsis continues, "Lady Belle, the Governor’s daughter, is brilliant and captivating, capturing Dodger’s heart as she is determined to make history as the first female surgeon. Dodger is torn between the promise of an impossible love in high society, and the instinctive temptation of the criminal underworld he secretly craves. One of the funniest comedies of 2025 is now on Prime Video, and we can't think of a better way to start the new year. Something between a remake and a reboot, The Naked Gun brings back the saga's stupidly hilarious sense of humor, which of course includes lots of farting and sex jokes.

The acid cop satire first started with Leslie Nielsen's original Frank Drebin, who debuted in the TV show Police Squad before starring in his own film Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad in 1988. The new film, starring Liam Neeson, Pamela Anderson and Paul Walter Hauser, follows Frank Drebin Jr. as he tries to solve a murder connected to a tech mogul while doing his best to save his police unit from being shut down.

Would you like to start the new year with a scare? Alison Brie and Dave Franco's horror film Together landed this week on Hulu as one of the genre's recent must-watch titles. The real-life married couple go through a nightmarish journey in this movie directed by Michael Shanks, which mixes body horror with dark comedy and reaches its climax to the sound of the Spice Girls.

The couple star as Millie and Tim, who relocate from the city to a house in the country, bringing their many marital problems with them. Things start to get weird after the pair go for a walk in the forest and they stumble upon a mysterious water source, which they feel compelled to drink, resulting in an extreme transformation of their love, their lives, and their flesh too.

Set in the '30s in the deep south of the United States during its Jim Crow era, the film follows twin brothers Smoke and Stack, as they return to their hometown looking to start their troubled lives again with a new business. However, their once home has been taken over by a greater evil.

Ne Zha II (HBO Max)

You might not have heard of it before, but Ne Zha II is the fifth highest-grossing movie of all time, and the highest-grossing animated movie ever after overtaking Inside Out 2 earlier this year. It was a success with critics too, as it sits at an impressive 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Now, the movie is finally available to stream on HBO Max, and it's time to see for yourself what the fuss was all about.

A sequel to the 2019 movie Ne Zha, the film is a modern reimagining of mythological Chinese folklore, with the synopsis reading: "A rebellious young boy named Ne Zha is feared by the gods and born to mortal parents with wild, uncontrolled powers. Now he's faced with an ancient force intent on destroying humanity, he must grow up to become the hero the world needs."

The Life of Chuck (Hulu)

Not all Stephen King adaptations belong in the horror genre – The Life of Chuck, an adaptation of the author's 2020 novella of the same name, is a life-affirming drama that will probably make you shed a tear or two.

Directed by horror master Mike Flanagan, the film follows Chuck Krantz's (Tom Hiddleston) very full life, from childhood to adulthood, leading up until the end of his life... and the end of the world. The cast includes Chiwetel Ejiofor as a school teacher trying to apply logic to the planet’s troubles, Matthew Lillard as a construction worker neighbor who finds peace amongst the chaos, Karen Gillan as Chuck's ex who is a hospital worker determined to save everyone she can, and Mark Hamill and Mia Sara as the grandparents who raised Chuck as a boy.

Set in New Mexico, it follows a romance author, Carol Sturka (Rhea Seehorn), who is one of the few people in the world immune to the effects of a virus which has turned everyone into an obedient hive mind known as 'the Others'.

Taylor Swift: The End of an Era finale (Disney Plus)

You can now watch all the episodes of the documentary Taylor Swift: The End of an Era, an intimate behind-the-scenes look at Taylor Swift's record-breaking global tour. The concert can also be watched on the Disney Plus film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, which became a box office event in 2023 before it was available on streaming.

The End of an Era chronicles "the development, impact, and inner workings that created the phenomenon that was The Eras Tour," according to the official logline, which continues: "The illuminating docuseries gives an intimate look at Taylor’s life as her tour made headlines and thrilled fans around the world." The series features performers, family members, and friends such as Sabrina Carpenter, Ed Sheeran, and Florence Welch and offers a "never-before-seen insight into what it took to create a phenomenon".

Pluribus star Rhea Seehorn has reacted to the finale's closing moments, which see Carol make a destructive decision that could have far-reaching consequences in the second season.

Spoilers for the Pluribus season 1 ending follow.

Carol, it's fair to say, is in a foul mood in the final few minutes of Pluribus' first season. Understandably so, with the revelation that the eggs she froze years prior to one day start a family with her wife Helen (Miriam Shor) are being co-opted by The Others and used to help Carol join the hivemind without her consent.

From there, the choice of getting the girl or saving the world (from which the episode title 'La Chica o El Mundo' derives its name) becomes clear as Carol enters into an uneasy alliance with Manousos (Carlos-Manuel Vesga).

In one final rug-pull, she even has an atomic bomb delivered to her neighborhood – something she had joked about way back in the third episode's similarly explosive 'Grenade.'

With the image likely to be dissected and discussed until Pluribus season 2 rolls around, we asked Carol actor Rhea Seehorn what her character's thoughts were at that precise moment. Intriguingly, it's something that isn't even apparent to Seehorn.

"I honestly don't know. I made peace with [that]. Even if Vince [Gilligan] was saying we don't know where we're going with it, usually as an actor I would make an intentional decision about what I think Carol's plan is."

"Maybe this makes me a horrible actor," Seehorn laughs. "I honestly think Carol is not sure. I didn't do it out of laziness. I did it because one of her flaws – that sometimes is a superpower – is that she's so impulsive. She's just so impulsive and acts before she thinks. I think she knows she's got to do something big, and I'm not really sure what she's going to do with it."

The season finale of Pluribus, which was recently announced as Apple TV's most-watched show ever, is arriving earlier than expected. Although new episodes have been releasing weekly on Fridays, the ending of the first season is now scheduled to drop on Wednesday (December 24), ahead of the Christmas celebrations.

This is not an unusual move for the show, which also changed its release day in late November to avoid clashing with Thanksgiving and Black Friday. Shifting from December 26 to December 23 gets Pluribus slightly ahead of the busy holiday period, as well as the new Stranger Things season 5 episodes. With Part 2 of the popular Netflix show dropping on December 25 and capturing everyone's attention, this might be a smart decision for Apple TV.

After all, it would be unfair to let the ending of one of the best shows of 2025 fly under the radar while all eyes are on Hawkins.

Set in New Mexico, Pluribus follows a romance author named Carol Sturka (played by Rhea Seehorn) who happens to be one of the few people in the world immune to the effects of a virus known as 'the Joining', which has turned everyone else into an obedient hive mind known as 'the Others'. The series also stars Karolina Wydra as Zosia, Carol's hivemind 'chaperone', and Carlos-Manuel Vesga as fellow survivor Manousos.

The critically-acclaimed show comes from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul creator Vince Gilligan, who wrote the character of Carol Sturka specially for Seehorn. "I wrote this show for her. I love her so much," Gilligan told GamesRadar+. "I knew she would be good in it; I knew she was someone I could confidently count on and place a bet on in terms of making her the star of a TV show… I thought it was long past time for her to be a star."

"Stursia Nation is going to be very happy," Zosia actor Karolina Wydra tells GamesRadar+ of the long-awaited moment that finally saw her Pluribus character and Carol (Rhea Seehorn) lock lips – and much more – in the Apple Plus series' latest episode.

With shipping between the pair running rampant (#Stursia, as you may have guessed, is an amalgamation of Carol's surname Sturka and Zosia), you could expect the actors involved to be overjoyed by a joining of a very different kind.

For Rhea Seehorn, however, her reaction to Carol's emotional release is something altogether more conflicted.

"That's probably one of the most complex moments that we filmed, because Carol has been very broken by this long period of isolation, which was not only lonely by itself – we see the mental toll it takes on her – but also it's an existential crisis of loneliness, because it could go on forever," Seehorn explains.

Seehorn continues, "She's just going to die alone in her house one day if she doesn't choose to reach out. Yes, there's chemistry. I mean, these people knew what they were doing when they sent her what she thought of as a physical ideal specimen of a woman. But she's been so broken down [and] in need of anybody, any kind of companionship, that I think [this] is much larger than any sexual tension. [Carol is] also in a space where she almost is trying to will herself into believing the delusion that maybe I can just have a relationship with this person and give in. Because what is the alternative?"

Much of what Pluribus asks us, as can be expected of a show that prods at the human condition, is knotty and complex. Is Carol in love? In dire need of companionship? Perhaps even using Zosia as a twisted surrogate for her dead wife, Helen (whose memories, lest we forget, are embedded within the hivemind)? There's no one answer – and that's something Carol is still busy figuring out herself, especially after The Others recreate her favorite diner where she first took her tentative steps into writing.

"It is both manipulative and kind at the same time, and Carol is trying to drill down on which one it is," Seehorn says. "In reality, the harder question is: what if it's both, and how do we ever disentangle those two things in real life?"

Curiously, Wydra's take – as perhaps can be expected from her character's point of view – is dealing directly with the union itself.

"I think that moment is such a beautiful moment between them and for Carol," Wydra says. "The moment of such isolation and the journey that she goes on – that finally she has this moment of feeling intimacy and coming together with someone in such an intimate way and connecting with someone."

Who has the right answer? That's for the audience to decide. With the finale rapidly approaching, we could either be looking at a new power couple or Carol breaking up with (roughly) seven billion people all at once.

As confirmed by the streamer, the Vince Gilligan-created sci-fi mystery is now the most popular show on the streamer, though the total number of views and hours watched remain unclear. Unlike Netflix, Apple keeps its figures solely in-house.

The announcement was even made in typical Pluribus fashion, with a scene from the most recent episode that saw a non-plussed Carol (Rhea Seehorn) lighting fireworks in her empty neighborhood. This time, though, it comes with a message: "Congratulations, Carol."

Earlier this year, Severance raced past Ted Lasso to beat out the previous holder of the most-viewed show title on Apple TV (formerly Apple TV Plus).

If you're still one of the few holdouts not on board with Pluribus – Carol would approve, probably – then you're missing out. The Apple TV show sees romance author Carol Sturka become isolated after a hivemind takes over all but a dozen people on the globe. The series also stars Karolina Wydra as Zosia, Carol's hivemind 'chaperone', and Carlos-Manuel Vesga as fellow survivor Manousos. A second season has been greenlit.

Speaking earlier this year to GamesRadar+, Gilligan revealed he only wrote Pluribus with one person in mind – Rhea Seehorn, who he previously worked with on Better Call Saul.

"I wrote this show for her. I love her so much," Gilligan said. "We got to know her and enjoyed writing for her on Better Call Saul – so much so that I created this show just for her. I knew she would be good in it; I knew she was someone I could confidently count on and place a bet on in terms of making her the star of a TV show… I thought it was long past time for her to be a star."

In fact, it's a perfect watch for the Christmas break, to enjoy alongside your friends and family while making bets about who is the killer.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery introduces a seemingly impossible crime when Monsignor Jefferson Wicks (Josh Brolin), the charismatic leader of the church in Chimney Rock, is killed in the middle of an Easter service. His colleague Father Jud (Josh O'Connor) will have to team up with detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) to solve the mystery, and there are plenty of suspects – Martha Delacroix (Glenn Close), devout Catholic and Wicks' "right-hand woman", local doctor Nat Sharp (Jeremy Renner), uptight lawyer Vera Draven (Kerry Washington), former bestselling author Lee Ross (Andrew Scott), retired concert cellist Simone Vivane (Cailee Spaeny), aspiring politician Cy Draven (Daryl McCormack), and groundskeeper Samson Holt (Thomas Haden Church).

Starring Daredevil's Charlie Cox and New Girl's Zooey Deschanel, Merv is the romantic comedy you didn't know you needed ahead of the Christmas break. The Prime Video film asks a crucial question many dog owners have had to face – what happens to your dog if you break up with your partner?

Per the official synopsis, "When their beloved dog Merv loses his spark after their split, Anna and Russ are forced into the world's most awkward co-parenting arrangement. Hoping to shake Merv out of his funk, Russ takes him to Florida for a much-needed getaway – only for Anna to show up unexpectedly. As Merv slowly gets his groove back, turns out fixing their dog's broken heart may lead to a few sparks of their own."

Hulu just added a new film starring The Walking Dead's Jeffrey Dean Morgan and The Boys star Jack Quaid, which might be just what you're looking for this weekend. With a decent 70% Rotten Tomatoes approval rating, Neighborhood Watch is a sort of buddy comedy movie led by a dysfunctional duo which pays tribute to 1970s cinema.

Per the logline, "When a mentally ill young man thinks he witnesses an abduction and the police refuse to believe him, he reluctantly turns to his next door neighbor – a bitter, retired security guard – to help him find the missing woman."

After a successful first season, Disney Plus' series Percy Jackson and the Olympians returned this week ahead of Christmas, adapting Rick Riordan's second novel in the book saga, The Sea of Monsters. With a season 3 already confirmed, the show is here to stay, so you better keep up with it if teen fantasy adventures are your kind of fun.

Season 2 will see Percy take on "an epic odyssey into the Sea of Monsters in search of his best friend Grover and the one thing that may save the camp, the legendary Golden Fleece", reads the logline. "With help from Annabeth, Clarisse and his newfound cyclops half-brother Tyson, Percy’s survival becomes essential to stopping Luke, the Titan Kronos, and their impending plan to bring down Camp Half-Blood – and ultimately, Olympus."

It: Welcome to Derry season finale (HBO Max)

It: Welcome to Derry wraps its first season this Sunday on HBO Max, so get ready for a final bloodbath with Pennywise. Serving as a prequel to Andy Muschietti's It and It: Chapter Two, the show is inspired by the interludes in Stephen King's original novel, taking a deep dive into Derry's history while delivering plenty of Stephen King Easter eggs for fans. Oh, and Bill Skarsgård reprised his role as the terrifying Dancing Clown – though it came late into the season, the wait was worth it.

Taking place 27 years before the events of the first It film, the show explores the origins of Pennywise and focuses on Mike's grandparents Charlotte (played by Taylour Paige) and Leroy (played by Jovan Adepo) after they move to Derry and strike up a friendship with one of the Black Spot's founders Dick Hallorann (played by Chris Chalk) – yes, the character from The Shining!

Pluribus has been unhinged and unexpected at the best of times in its first five episodes, but Vince Gilligan's sci-fi mystery upped the ante this week, all thanks to an A-list actor delivering horrifying exposition as a twisted version of themselves.

Spoilers for Pluribus episode 6 follow.

Enter: John Cena. Yes, as part of The Others' hivemind, it was decided that the WWE wrestler-turned-accomplished actor was the best, most trustworthy face to give the news to Rhea Seehorn's Carol (via broadcast during her trip to Las Vegas, naturally) that they have been chowing down on human remains as part of their need to stay alive – and not harm any animal or affect the planet's ecosystem.

For Gilligan, Cena's arrival was down to a thought experiment that only Pluribus could offer:

"We just thought, ‘Who is, simultaneously, the most random person to explain the eating of human flesh to Carol Sturka and the most interesting?’” Gilligan told Men's Health.

From there, Cena was keen – but didn't quite understand every line that was given to him during his brief time filming the scene. As Gilligan recalled, Cena signed off with, "‘I can’t wait to find out what the hell it was I just said.'"

With The Others now having the ability to convert the few remaining immune people on Earth (with their consent, of course), the clock is ticking for Carol after the human-derived protein reveal. Thankfully, it appears that Paraguayan survivor Manousos now has Carol on his radar and is heading to Albuquerque to lend a hand. Might two, instead of one, be greater than the many? We'll have to find out – even if we don't quite fancy their chances against John Cena.

Pushed to encapsulate the essence of Pluribus in a sentence or two, you're likely to evoke classic sci-fi horror stories such as Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Episode one certainly played with some of the familiar terrors you'd expect to see in an alien takeover, even if it's clear that creator Vince Gilligan is keen to push past obvious tropes in search of something different, something more alien, if you will. But the latest episode – and it's associated cameo – proves Pluribus is anything but conventional.

The premiere taps into body horror with victims violently convulsing as the infection begins to take hold, and not everyone survives the process. Over 800 million innocent people end up dead, including our lead's partner, Helen, whom Carol helplessly fights to save. That in itself is horrific enough, but the alien contagion at hand also unsettles on a deeper level.

We never get to see the true face of this alien threat because it wears the faces of regular people decorated with an identical smile plastered across their empty, lifeless expressions. The power of The Joined is immediately established as absolute, and the speed at which they take over (from our and Carol's perspective) drains any hope of resistance. Never mind the fact that everyone else seems to have given up fighting back anyway, mindlessly accepting what only Carol refuses to.

Green Living

As chilling as that sounds, none of this compares to the simple fact that The Joined have made no efforts to hide their ultimate goal, which is to assimilate Carol and the 12 other characters who are immune to the virus. Whether it takes them days, months or even years, The Joined calmly inform Carol that she will eventually succumb to their control once they discover how to bypass her immunity. The entire intellect of humanity combined is working on this problem around the clock.

There's an eerie sense of finality to this, an existential helplessness compounded by Carol's sheer loneliness in the wake of humanity's collapse and her own personal grief. The second episode leans into this aspect of the horror more sharply, dropping the outright scares in favour of a prolonged, unsettling discomfort. That is, until episode five.

The new normal remains anything but normal to Carol, who starts making videos for her fellow survivors in the hope that they might help her turn things back to the way they were. She's discovered that there is a chance to undo The Joining, even if she doesn't know what that entails just yet. And crucially, Carol has the space and freedom to investigate this now that The Joined have abandoned her city because they "need a little space" from her.

With all the time in the world on her hands, Carol soon discovers that every public trash can nearby is filled with empty milk cartons. Further investigation reveals that The Joined aren't consuming milk in these, however, but rather a "strange yellow liquid" that's hard to define.

Eventually, Carol's prodding leads her to a dog-food factory named Agri-jet that houses lots of leftover food and something far more disturbing wrapped in plastic. Is it human remains? Something alien? We don't know, not straight away, because Carol gasps in horror, and then the credits immediately roll in. It's not until the following episode that the truth is revealed in classic scary movie fashion.

Food for thought

Episode six begins with Carol running outside of the factory, overwhelmed by what she just saw. Still, she's determined to use her video camera and film the horrors hidden within to create concrete proof of what The Joined are really up to.

Viewed firsthand through the footage she films, we see Carol reveal human heads shrink-wrapped in plastic. There are tons of them, along with many other different body parts, too. "This is what this whole plant is being used for," says Carol. "Right under our noses." There's also a meat grinder the "size of a bus," but we don't get to see it. The implication is that this is the source of the yellow liquid that The Joined drink, presumably, to sustain their control somehow.

Something doesn't feel quite right, though. For a show so consistently surprising and off-kilter, this is the first time that Pluribus borders on predictable. Of course The Joined have been eating humans all along. They're every bit as sinister as their alien peers from stories of a similar fashion. Gilligan hasn't been afraid to reveal answers to some of the show's biggest questions early on, but doesn't this particular reveal — just two-thirds of the way through season one — transform Pluribus into a more traditional genre story?

In any other show, it would, but Pluribus is far too smart and deranged to slip into cliche so easily. It turns out that everything about this reveal, from its so-called predictability to the way it was shot like a found-footage horror film, is actually designed to subvert audience expectations further.

The opening credits kick in after Carol's factory visit, and then we're suddenly thrown into an LA hot tub party where Koumba, one of the few humans who remains Unjoined, is enjoying the company of a few naked women. The Joined is always on hand to make each survivor happy...

This horny bubble Koumba's fashioned in his own decadent version of the apocalypse is about to burst abruptly, though, when Carol arrives to tell him the truth. Except, Koumba already knows.

"Is this about them eating people?" asks Koumba, much to Carol's shock and horror. "It is troubling," he adds with a casual tone of voice that suggests anything but.

And just like that, Carol's urgency and the sheer horror of what we've discovered is turned on its head. How can Koumba be ok with this? Why didn't he tell Carol when he first found out? And why aren't their cannibal habits giving Koumba the ick in that hot tub?

The answer to this mystery is, of course, John Cena. No, really.

Killing with kindness

The former wrestler turned Peacemaker star leads a video The Joined have created to address questions regarding their "food supply." Except, this isn't really John Cena. It is the real actor who's been cast to play himself in this unsettling infomercial, but Cena the character has been subsumed into the collective group mind of The Joined, just like the rest of humanity.

As Cena explains, there is a limit to what The Joined can eat. Their inability to harm life in any form means they can't harvest wheat or corn or rice, let alone eat meat. With 7 billion mouths to feed, The Joined risk starvation. There's only so much leftover food, after all, only so many apples to be found fallen from a tree.

Cena goes on to explain that 8-12% of the liquid they create is comprised of HDP, aka human-derived protein, which is taken from the 100,000 people who naturally die each day. In eating their remains, The Joined cherish the memory of those who have fallen and appreciate their sacrifice.

"We're not that keen on it, but we're left with little choice," adds Cena at the end. Sounds quite reasonable, right? It's kind of understandable, especially when packaged by such a charming actor in a slickly produced video. Koumba is not "pleased with this," he admits. "None of us are." But it's a reality he must accept regardless, as must Carol because, let's face it, she has little other choice.

The result is a very different kind of horror than the one we were led to expect going into this episode. Because what starts out as a malevolent form of cannibalism, a plot to take over humanity and use it as an alien food source, is explained away with a logical calm that's perhaps even more horrifying in its banality. The use of statistics and acronyms to sell the idea of eating human flesh as a positive drains the emotion out of this reveal, just as The Joined have done to humanity as a whole.

There's also the expectation that we should accept this explanation as something justified and reasonable, which adds another layer to this. Forcing Carol to understand and even sympathise with these actions – "Cena didn’t mention most of the population will starve to death in the next ten years," says Koumba – means we too are being persuaded to do the same. In doing so, Pluribus toys with traditional notions of horror through an ethical and even existential lens, making us somewhat complicit in accepting The Joined and their actions moving forward.

The episode quickly moves on then, reverting the focus back to Carol's individual journey. First, her loneliness is magnified upon learning that the other survivors have chosen to leave her out of future meet-ups, and then hope suddenly arrives when she learns that consent must be given for The Joined to assimilate her. By the time episode six jumps to Manousos in Paraguay, we've all but forgotten that the alien virus is forcing innocent people to eat dead humans for sustenance.

And it's all thanks to John Cena. Or at least, his charming smile, even if it is identical to the one shared by 8 billion other people in this chilling version of what some might call utopia.

Directed by Michael Showalter, the film follows Claire Clauster (Pfeiffer), who always keeps her family together every holiday season with her incredible cooking skills, thoughtful gifts and meticulous preparation. As Zootopia 2 breaks box office records (heading straight for the billion dollar mark after only one weekend) and gets glowing reviews, you might want to take a look at where everything started. It all starts when Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) leaves her small town and moves to the big city of Zootopia to become the first rabbit to join the police force. When a mysterious case arrives at the police station, Judy jumps (literally) at the opportunity to prove herself, accepting the help of a fox, Nick Wilde (voiced by Jason Bateman), who likes to occasionally bend the law.

Home Alone is one of the most beloved Christmas movies of all time, spawning a franchise over several decades.

The first movie, first released in 1990, follows 8-year-old Kevin McCallister (played by Macaulay Culkin) as he is accidentally left at home during the Christmas break while his family travel to Paris. By the time they realize he's not there, it's too late. Kevin is all too happy to stay home, but a couple of burglars (played by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern) planning to rob the McCallister residence threaten to disturb his peace, forcing him to protect his home by ALL means necessary.

We're only five episodes into Pluribus, but let's just put it out there already – this is one of the best shows of 2025. Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul creator Vince Gilligan hasn't disappointed so far with his new show, which he said is "bigger than anything I've ever made". We believe that now, having enjoyed the ambitious and unique concept of the story for several weeks. As episode 5 lands on Apple TV Plus this weekend, this is your reminder to give it a watch as soon as possible.

With some serious The Twilight Zone vibes, Pluribus stars Better Call Saul's Rhea Seehorn as Carol Sturka, who as "the most miserable person on Earth" is one of the few capable of saving the world from a virus that is causing people to become perpetually happy. In case you haven't started watching yet, that is all we're going to say... for now.

However, The Ugly Stepsister is going to surprise you, as it leans into what makes fairytales creepy in the first place while addressing sexism and the dangers of unrealistic beauty standards.

Written and directed by Emilie Blichfeldt, the film follows Elvira (played by Lea Myren), who lives in a kingdom where beauty is everything. That's something she begins to realize when she prepares to attend a ball to win the prince’s affection, but she could never compete with her beautiful stepsister (Cinderella). Driven by jealousy, Elvira will stop at nothing to make herself the belle of the ball, even if that means going to extreme and disgusting lengths.

Mickey 17 (Prime Video)

Following his Oscar-winning masterpiece Parasite, Bong Joon Ho delivered a surprising satirical sci-fi flick perfect for Okja fans, adapting the novel Mickey7 by author Edward Ashton. Surprisingly, the film didn't do as well as expected at the box office when it was first released earlier in 2025, so now you have the opportunity to give it a chance on Prime Video.

Starring Robert Pattinson, Mark Ruffalo, Toni Collette, and Naomi Ackie, the film follows the life of Mickey Barnes, a man who signs up to be an 'expendable' for a space colony on the planet of Niflheim. Undertaking dangerous assignments for the colony, every time Mickey dies a new version of him is printed out, but things go awry when Mickey 17 is incorrectly assumed to be dead and Mickey 18 is created.

Flight Risk (HBO Max)

If you're looking for a high-stakes suspense thriller to keep you entertained this weekend, Flight Risk might just do the trick. Don't expect one of the best thrillers you've ever seen, though, as this is pure dumb fun with no pretensions. It's directed by Mel Gibson, and stars Mark Wahlberg in a truly surprising role.

The Uncharted star plays a pilot transporting an Air Marshal (played by Downton Abbey's Michelle Dockery) accompanying a fugitive to trial. "As they cross the Alaskan wilderness, tensions soar and trust is tested, as not everyone on board is who they seem," reads the logline.

Surprise! A Better Call Saul actor 'showed up' for a bizarre cameo in the latest episode of Pluribus, and it even shocked series lead Rhea Seehorn.

Spoilers for Pluribus episode 5 follow. You have been warned, Carol.

With the aftermath of Zosia's overdose at Carol's hands (all in a ploy to get information from the Others), Carol is left largely alone and free of oversight from the hivemind, with an exception.

Carol has a number to call if she wants to contact the Others, which includes a voicemail – from a familiar-sounding voice – that tells her that they're keeping her distance, all while still wanting to keep her happy.

That voice? None other than Patrick Fabian, who played the smarmy (and later luckless) lawyer Howard Hamlin on Better Call Saul opposite Rhea Seehorn's perma-ponytailed Kim Wexler. To add even more color to the intrigue, Seehorn wasn't told whose voice would be on the other end while she was playing the scene.

"They were hoping to get some kind of blooper take from me, but I was so terrified to mess up a take. Not terrified, but I just didn't want to – because I knew it was a long take, too, the first time she hears it," Seehorn told TV Guide.

"I don't know which take they actually use, but I think if you got one of those psychologists or psychiatrists that study micro facial muscle changes, I'm pretty sure you could see me go, 'What? Patrick?' But then I tried to cover and play the scene," Seehorn recalled. "They called cut, and I started laughing and ran out and said, 'That's Patrick! You got Patrick!' And they said they'd been sitting on it for a long time, just to screw with me."

Pluribus' latest episode may have been a mini-Better Call Saul reunion but, as Gilligan previously explained to GamesRadar+, the sci-fi mystery was only ever going to be led by one person: Rhea Seehorn.

"I wrote this show for her. I love her so much," Gilligan said. "We got to know her and enjoyed writing for her on Better Call Saul – so much so that I created this show just for her. I knew she would be good in it; I knew she was someone I could confidently count on and place a bet on in terms of making her the star of a TV show… I thought it was long past time for her to be a star."

Apple TV has removed the upcoming French crime show The Hunt from its December slate after finding out it has stolen its story from a '70s novel.

The Hunt, otherwise known as Traqués was supposed to release on Apple TV on Wednesday, December 3, but the streamer has now delayed the series indefinitely. This is because the show's creator and director, Cédric Anger, has been accused of plagiarizing the 1973 novel Shoot by Douglas Fairbairn, as reported by Apple Insider.

The news was later confirmed by the show's producer. In a statement shared with Variety, Gaumont said, "The broadcast of our series The Hunt has been temporarily postponed. We are currently conducting a thorough review to address any questions related to our production. We take intellectual property matters very seriously."

However, when you look at the descriptions for both the upcoming TV show and the original book, there is no denying the similarities. Starring Benoît Magimel and Mélanie Laurent, The Hunt follows a man named Franck and his friends who, whilst on a hunting trip, are suddenly targeted by another group without any explanation. When one of their party is shot, Franck and co strike back, shooting one of the attackers. After they escape, Franck and his friends try to keep the events a secret. However, a few days later, he starts to feel as though he is being watched, or even tracked by hunters who are now hell-bent on revenge.

Now, let's take a look at the synopsis for the novel Shoot. Following a hunter named Rex and his buddies, Shoot sees the group embark on a hunting trip where they meet a rival band of hunters. When one of them takes a shot at Rex’s party, Rex's friend shoots back and kills one of the rival hunters. Rex and co manage to escape and agree to keep the murder a secret. However, Rex is certain the dead man’s companions are after him, and so he returns to the scene.

In 1976, Shoot was adapted into a movie of the same name, directed by Harvey Hart, starring Cliff Robertson, Ernest Borgnine, and Henry Silva.
