Steven Spielberg has revealed a piece of casting that almost was in 1993's Jurassic Park. Harrison Ford was initially in the running to play palaeontologist Alan Grant in the beloved adventure movie.

"Yes, he did, he may not remember that, but I sure do," Spielberg recalled on the Happy Sad Confused podcast about whether Ford turned down the part. When pushed on whether he was annoyed by Disclosure Day star Emily Blunt, he added: "I wasn't cross, I was crushed but then Sam Neill came available and he's Alan Grant. It now belongs to him."

Well, that would have made a very different movie indeed. At the time Ford would have been just coming off several Indiana Jones movies and was making the switch to several dramas and action hits, so was likely weary about joining another franchise.

We've got to admit too, it's pretty hard to imagine anyone other than Neill as Grant in the Jurassic Park movies. Opposite Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum, the central trio of those films is as near perfect casting as you can get.

Elsewhere in the same interview, Spielberg revealed some more details about filming Jurassic Park, including the terrifying real-life event that affected production. "We were hit by a category five hurricane, it made landfall," he shared. "We were in Kauai and Iniki made landfall at our hotel. Not like five miles up the beach from our hotel or in the other direction, we were landfall."

The director added about the harrowing experience, "I've never been through anything like it before, all of us, the whole cast, the whole crew, we were all huddled in a conference room, 18 feet below sea level. The only thing that saved that hotel, that saved all the people that were in these conference rooms, was the fact that there was an 18-foot breakwater so the sea couldn't completely get into where we were."

Spielberg's latest is a science fiction thriller Disclosure Day, all about a TV meteorologist and a cybersecurity specialist who team up to try and reveal the truth about alien life. Our 4.5 star Disclosure Day review says it proves why the director is "the greatest blockbuster filmmaker of all time with a full-circle aliens-among-us thriller that dazzles as both a pedal-to-the-metal chase movie and a moving reckoning with the idea that we aren't alone in the universe."

The new Masters of the Universe movie is set to hit the big screen this Friday, but the box office projections don't look too promising.

According to Global Box Office, Masters of the Universe is on track to earn between $27-$35 million in the US across its opening weekend. That would be considered a bit of a flop, as Forbes reports that the Amazon MGM Studios movie cost at least $170 million to make.

Based on the beloved fantasy franchise and Mattel's He-Man toyline, Masters of the Universe follows Prince Adam, played by Mary and George star Nicholas Galitzine, who has been living in the real world. However, when he finds the Sword of Power, he is pulled back into Eternia, where he joins forces with Teela (Camilla Mendes), Man-at-Arms (Idris Elba), and more to embrace his destiny as He-Man and take on Skeletor (Jared Leto).

The franchise has spawned multiple successful animated TV shows, but the new movie is only the second live-action adaptation since the 1987 feature. However, the '80s Masters of the Universe movie didn't fare well at the box office either. Starring The Expandables star Dolph Lundgren as He-Man, the film failed to make back its budget, grossing just $17.3 million against an estimated production cost of $22 million.

Masters of the Universe has a lot riding on it, as the last Mattel Toys adaptation to hit the big screen, Barbie, grossed over $1.4 billion globally (Box Office Mojo). Alongside Masters of the Universe, Mattel has many adaptations in the works, including Matchbox: The Movie, a Barney adaptation, and a movie about Polly Pocket dolls.

It's not all doom and gloom for Masters of the Universe, though. Following early screening in May, the movie earned positive reactions, with critics calling it "one of the biggest surprises of 2026," comparing it to the likes of Marvel's Thor and Guardians of the Galaxy. It's also fair to say that the box office is a little unpredictable at this moment in time, with original horror movies Obsession and Backrooms smashing expectations and beating The Mandalorian and Grogu on the charts. Perhaps Masters of the Universe can do the same.

Good news, Minecraft fans, Jack Black and co have delivered a huge update on A Minecraft Movie 2, and it looks like Steve may have a bit of competition this time.

As part of Minecraft Live, stars Black and Jason Momoa give us a little update on how filming is going in New Zealand. The video also gives us our first look at Kirsten Dunst as Alex, sporting the in-game character's red hair in a side plait. However, she doesn't seem to be wearing Alex's signature green t-shirt.

But that's not all, as the video also cuts to gaming content creators TommyInnit and Quackity, who announce the sequel's official title: A Minecraft Movie Squared. Now that's much better than the working titles A Minecraft Movie 2 and A Minecraft Movie sequel. Check out the full clip below.

However, the most interesting part of the video is the few seconds we see What We Do in the Shadows star Matt Berry. The star voiced the Nitwit Villager in A Minecraft Movie, but it looks like he may return as a different character. In one shot, Berry said, "I've been told I'm not allowed to tell you who exactly I'm playing in this new film," before a crew member holds up one of Steve's blue vests. Berry says, "That's not turquoise. Steve would not be wearing that."

Does this mean that Berry will be playing Black's character, Steve? That's not exactly clear, but Minecraft fans are certain they know who he is. "That's definitely Herobrine, no doubt," commented one fan. Now, even if you have played the game, you may not know who Herobrine is, as he is not actually a real character. The figure comes from an online urban legend, where players reported sightings of an evil version of Steve with solid white eyes, who would stalk players and destroy their builds.

Bringing a Minecraft urban legend into the fold wouldn't be the first time Hess has played with the game's lore. In the first film, one of the best Minecraft Movie Easter eggs was a pig wearing a crown, which isn't from the game. This was a reference to the avatar used by a longtime Minecraft player and content creator, Technoblade, who sadly passed away in 2022.

Putting fans first seems to still be at the top of Hess' list going into the sequel, as at the end of the video, he and Mojang Studios creative director Jens 'Jeb' Bergensten reveal how players can get involved. Minecraft has launched the Minecraft Movie Build Challenge, which gives one lucky player the chance to have their build featured in the new movie, and the finalists will get to see the sequel early at a private screening.

Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown is back as Enola Holmes in the first trailer for the upcoming threequel.

It all begins with Enola living a happy, blissful life with her new fiancé, Tewkesbury (Louis Partridge). However, it soon seems like things aren't quite going to be smooth sailing for the pair when Henry Cavill's Sherlock Holmes is kidnapped en route to the wedding. This takes Enola on her first international case in Malta. But will she make it back in time for the vows? Other shots in the trailer show explosions, horse-riding bandits, fireworks, and a literal theater on fire.

Alongside Partridge as Tewkesbury, Cavill, and Brown, Helena Bonham Carter is also returning as Eudoria Holmes, alongside Sharon Duncan-Brewster as Moriarty. Just as with Enola Holmes 2, it seems like Sam Claflin will not be back as Mycroft Holmes. Scheduling conflicts kept him out of the sequel, and it seems it will be a similar situation here.

The second film ended on something of a cliffhanger with a mid-credits scene introducing Himesh Patel as Dr. John Watson. As you might recall, it features Sherlock opening the door to his Baker Street home, expecting to see Enola on the other side. Instead, it was Watson, who'd been sent by Enola to be her brother's new colleague and companion. From the trailer, it's clear that Watson will play a big part in Enola Holmes 3.

He has the power... to win over critics! Masters of the Universe is pulling in hugely positive reactions following its LA premiere, and being compared to the likes of Marvel's Thor and Guardians of the Galaxy.

Directed by Bumblebee helmer Travis Knight, the new live-action fantasy flick wonders what an episode of the '80s cartoon would've looked if one of Skeletor's schemes had actually worked. With that, it sees Adam (Nicholas Galitzine) living a humdrum human life on Earth, having been sent there by his mother when he was a young boy.

But Adam has never forgotten who he really is or where he hails from, and has spent the last few years searching for the Power Sword and a way to get back to Eternia. When he manages to find both, he's shocked to find his home has been taken over by evil warlord Skeletor (Jared Leto). After so many decades away, does he have what it takes to become the buff blonde hero he's destined to be and save his people?

On Twitter, The AU Review's Peter Gray praised Galitzine's comedic timing, the film's "knowingly cartoonish, '80s vibes", and Leto's "campy" voicework as Skeletor.

Elsewhere, Collider's Perri Nemiroff said she "was totally swept away by this super vibrant, weird and gleeful romp." Nemiroff went on to call it "downright ridiculous, but ridiculous works when the cast and crew wholly get the kind of movie they're making and are enthusiastic about going all out to bring it to life."

"One of the biggest surprises of 2026," she added.

"MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE is like a sister film to the first Thor," wrote DiscussingFilm's Andrew J. Salazar. "Struggles to find its footing in the first half, but once it locks on its themes of fragile masculinity and ego, it makes way for an incredibly fun time that's also visually stimulating. Nicholas Galitzine is great!"

"Masters of the Universe being one of the best movies I've seen all year was not on my bingo card but here we are," tweeted Offscreen Central's Kenzie Vanunu. "Genuinely an epic good time. I love swords, I guess."

It seems worth noting, though, that not everyone dug what Knight has done with the franchise, with Gizmodo's Germain Lussier arguing that only the first 20 minutes of the movie were enjoyable. "As for the rest? It's a mess. Serious played for laughs, laughs played for emotion, it works, it doesn't, it really tries but ends up being too awkward. Great end credits scenes though."

A new Masters of the Universe TV spot has arrived... and it gives us the tiniest glimpse of He-Man riding Battle Cat.

The clip, which can be viewed below, appears to have been uploaded via screen recording by a He-Man fan website. Despite the slightly wonky quality, however, we can see clear as day at the very end of the 60-second spot He-Man raising the Power Sword while sitting astride Battle Cat... who appears to be donning his cartoon and action figure-accurate red cloak!

We've seen Cringer, Prince Adam's big, sweet ol' tiger pal, in both previously released trailers (and Amazon MGM even cheekily let him roar in place of the classic MGM lion). However, we hadn't seen him in his true Battle Cat form, which sees his fur take on a green tinge with his head and torso protected by a red leather cloak of sorts. You might be thinking... well, of course we're going to see Battle Cat in the movie! He's in the cartoon! He's even in the new He-Man action figures that were released last year in promotion with the new film. However: he was not in the 1987 Masters of the Universe movie, mainly due to budget concerns (which also explains why Skeletor was more guy-wearing-a-skeleton-costume rather than a skeleton man).

It sounds as though the upcoming Mummy movie will include a few treats for fans of the original movies, as star Brendan Fraser teases a return to signature locations.

"So we're going to give the audience what they have been bothering all of us for the last 20-whatever years," said Fraser to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show. "What we're going to do is saddle back up, go back to the locations."

The Mummy 4 is set to bring back Fraser as strapping treasure hunter Rick O'Connell and Rachel Weisz as beautiful librarian and Rock's wife, Evelyn. Although no official plot details have been released just yet, we do know that the fourth Mummy film will disregard the third movie and follow on from the second movie, The Mummy Returns. This is because Weisz was not in the third film, with her character played by Maria Bello in 2008's Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

So, what locations might the new movie revisit? Well, due to there being almost two decades between the sequel and the upcoming movie, we expect a rather big time jump between the two movies. However, the sequel could still jump back to Egypt in the 1920s and '30s when the duo accidentally awoke the Mummy.

The Mummy 4 is a long time coming. Despite attempts to reboot the franchise with The Scorpion King spin-off series and a different take in Tom Cruise's 2017 movie, fans thought they may never see Fraser back as the Indiana Jones-esque adventurer, and he didn't either. "I was hopeful for a long while, and then I was like, no, I don't know if they are, you know. Other Mummy movies got made."

However, Fraser does seem a little worried about returning to the physical aspect of the character, as he told Fallon, "Please wish me luck. I'm doing my best to get this 57-year-old gear in shape."

Following the success of A Minecraft Movie in Spring 2025, the highly anticipated sequel has started filming, and star Jack Black has marked the occasion in the most Steve-centric way.

The star took to Instagram and shared a painting of himself as Minecraft character Steve sitting on a throne and wielding fire from his hand. The artwork contains nods to the paintings from the Minecraft games, such as the skull and the blocky flame. The caption reads, "And so it begins." Check out the post below.

The painting is more iconic than you might realize, as it was painted by Swedish artist Kristoffer Zetterstrand, who created 40 paintings for the Minecraft video game. It sounds as though he might be involved in the sequel too, as in the background of his post about Black's commissioned piece, we can see paintings from the game hanging in the background. Could they be for the new movie? Perhaps Black's commissioned piece will appear in Steve's new digs? Check out the image below.

According to The New Zealand Herald, A Minecraft Movie 2 has already begun filming in Huntly and in various locations across Auckland. The news comes months after the sequel was announced back in October 2025. Since then, director Jared Hess and the cast have kept their lips sealed regarding the sequel's plot, but we do know that Kristen Dunst has been cast as the game's female playable character, Alex.

A Minecraft Movie hit screens in April 2025 and opened to a whopping $313.7 million globally, marking the largest opener for a video game film ever. But aside from its commercial success, the project also created a bunch of cinema trends which led young fans to throw popcorn when certain lines were spoken, with one moviegoer even bringing a live chicken to a screening. The movie grossed just under $1 billion by the end of its theatrical run.

Netflix has unveiled a new look at Enola Holmes 3, and it looks like the titular sleuth's case may just be her most dangerous one yet...

In the snaps, we get our first glimpses at returning players Helena Bonham Carter, who plays Enola's mother Eudoria, and Henry Cavill, who's back as her debonair detective brother Sherlock.

In a shot featuring both Sherlock and Enola, the pair can be seen looking quizzingly at a bookshop owned by an unseen "Kemble". In another of just Enola (Stranger Things' Millie Bobby Brown), she looks to be escaping some sort of burning building.

In the handful of additional stills, a worried-looking Enola looks to be wearing a bridal veil as she glares straight down the barrel of the camera, Himesh Patel's Dr. John Watson chats with Louis Partridge's Tewkesbury, and Enola cozies up to Tewkesbury by the coast. Check them out below...

While not seen in any of the snaps, Sharon Duncan-Brewster will also be reprising her role as Mira Troy/Moriarty.

Given that it's wrapped up in a mystery, it's hardly a surprise that plot details for Enola Holmes 3 are being kept tightly under wraps. We do know, though, that this entry will see the eponymous hero embark on an overseas adventure in Malta.

"What I love about this chapter is that Enola is stepping into a version of herself that feels much more defined but still evolving. She's built something for herself, which is amazing," Brown recently told Tudum. "But she's also questioning what she wants next, and I think that’s something so many people can relate to."

At the end of Enola Holmes 2, Sherlock proposed to Enola that they team up – having successfully uncovered that it was the match factory owners' use of deadly white phosphorous that was making the workers sick – but she refused, vowing to make a name for herself alone and setting up her own office. Elsewhere, Moriarty, who'd been arrested by Lestrade (Adeel Akhtar), escaped, and Watson moved in with Sherlock.

Directed by Adolescence's Philip Barantini, Enola Holmes 3 marks the first in the series not to be helmed by Harry Bradbeer. It premieres on July 1.

Good news for nerds who like to collect stuff: the He-Man popcorn buckets have arrived... and they are very, very cool.

The movie theater chain Cinemark shared a video from their booth at CinemaCon, revealing that the popcorn bucket is a replica of Castle Grayskull, and that the drink cup is the Power Sword. You can check it out below.

This blows the Deadpool and Wolverine, Dune, and Nosferatu popcorn buckets out of the water – I mean, these aren't just metal buckets with a themed lid. These are detailed, high-quality collector's items – and I have a feeling they might be on the pricier side. For example, the Nosferatu bucket was $25 if purchased at the theater, but cost $39.99 online. Therefore, the Masters of the Universe bucket and drink cup could very well be $60 each, or there might be some combo deal if purchased in the theater. Either way, I will be emptying out my wallet and clearing some space out on my shelves for these bad boys.

Since the upcoming Mummy sequel was announced earlier this year, Brendan Fraser and the Radio Silence team have kicked off the franchise reboot in the most wholesome way – by riding The Mummy rollercoaster at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Universal Studios posted a picture of the outing on Instagram, showing Fraser and directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett on the rollercoaster, captioned, "Getting back into character! Brendan Fraser had a blast braving Revenge of the Mummy: The Ride at Universal Studios in preparation for reprising the role of Rick O’Connell."

Universal is keeping plot details under wraps, but we do know that the reboot will see Fraser and Rachel Weisz reprise their roles as adventurers turned lovers Rick and Evelyn O’Connell, with John Hannah also returning as Evelyn's older brother Jonathan Carnahan. Orphan: First Kill writer David Coggeshall is on board to pen the script.

The upcoming movie will act as a continuation of The Mummy franchise, which kicked off in 1999, followed by the 2001 sequel The Mummy Returns. There was a third film released in 2008 titled The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, but Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett have made it clear that the upcoming fourth movie will disregard the events of threequel as Weisz wasn't in it.

However, the upcoming film has a little bit of competition as, confusingly, another Mummy movie is set to hit screens this year. Lee Cronin's The Mummy will focus on the more horrific side of the Universal Monster following a family whose missing child returns to them years later, but something is not quite right with her. To be clear, Brendan Fraser is not in Lee Cronin’s The Mummy.

The new Masters of the Universe trailer is here – and it looks like the colorful, action-packed fantasy epic '80s kids (both big and small) have been waiting for.

Directed by Bumblebee's Travis Knight, the film, which obviously takes inspiration from Mattel's He-Man toys, the cartoon series, and the Dolph Lundgren-starring live-action flick, looks to be giving Prince Adam's story a meta spin, as it sees him swap Eternia for Earth. In this iteration of his backstory, Adam (Nicholas Galitzine) was sent to our drab-looking world by his mother when he was just 10 years old.

It was to keep him safe, so she said, but in the two decades since, Adam hasn't stopped dreaming of going on out-of-this-world adventures and engaging in testing battles. Well, be careful what you wish for, Adam...

While the movie's first trailer set up the framework, the latest promo offers up a little more in terms of plot details. It begins with an adult Adam being thrown in a dungeon, as he tells his fellow inmates, "I know most of you don't remember me, but I know all of you." It's then revealed that he's locked up at Castle Grayskull. Curious, huh?!

"Everything's changed since you left," Camila Mendes' Teela tells him, as the camera scans a ruined Eternia. "Skeletor took my family," he replies via voiceover, "and he destroyed our world." In the footage that follows, we see Adam having a heart-to-heart with Duncan (Idris Elba), glimpses of Snake Mountain, and wielding the Power Sword. In short, it looks rad. Check it out above.

"Skeletor was a really interesting villain," Knight previously gushed to Empire magazine, when asked about Leto's approach to the iconic villain. "He looked cool. He was scary. He was funny. He was insecure. Then of course he had this distinctive voice. I wanted someone to craft their own version of that," he continued. "Jared approached us, because he loves Skeletor and has his own history with the character.

"He wanted to swing for the fences. Ultimately, we landed on something that I'm really happy with. Skeletor's kind of the embodiment of toxic masculinity." Yeah, there's definitely going to be a bit more going on than just sword and planet-themed mayhem with this flick.

Also starring Alison Brie (GLOW) as Evil-Lyn, Sasheer Zamata (Agatha All Along) as Suzie, Charlotte Riley (Peaky Blinders) as Queen Marlena, and Morena Baccarin (Deadpool) as Sorceress, Masters of the Universe releases on June 5. Originating as a range of Mattel action figures, He-Man first took to the screen in the '80s animated show Masters of the Universe. A live-action movie, starring Dolph Lundgren, followed in 1987, but the film was a flop and the planned sequel was canceled. The upcoming movie is the first attempt to reboot the franchise on the big screen since then (although more animated series, comic books, toys, and video games have followed).

Sorceress is the extremely powerful guardian of Castle Grayskull, whose powers include telepathy, telekinese, teleportation, and clairvoyance. She's also the one to give Adam the power to become He-Man. In the '80s live-action movie, she was played by Christina Pickles, and in animation she's been voiced by actors like Linda Gary and Kimberly Brooks.

A Minecraft Movie 2 has found its Alex in Spider-Man's Kirsten Dunst – a joyous full-circle moment after the star said only last August that she'd happily appear in the video game movie sequel "to make a pile of cash." The news come via Deadline.

Alex was teased in the first film's post-credits scene, when Steve (Jack Black) knocks on the door of his former home in the real world, which is promptly answered by a red-headed stranger. "Is this about that chest in the attic?" the person, who is seen only from behind, says. "I'm Alex, by the way." Dunst didn't appear in the original film, with Alex played physically by Alice May Connolly, and voiced by Kate McKinnon.

One of two main, playable characters in Minecraft, along with Steve, Alex's most distinctive characteristics are her default green tunic and red hair, which she wears in a ponytail. It doesn't take a genius to work out why the team behind A Minecraft Movie 2 might have thought famous redhead Dunst would be a good fit for the character.

Directed by Jared Hess, the first Minecraft movie was an enormous hit in 2025, launched a wave of Chicken Jockey madness, and ended the year as the highest-grossing domestic release, just beating out Lilo & Stitch. The sequel was, unsurprisingly, announced soon after. A teaser poster confirming the film's July 2027 release date was released last October.

While plot details for the sequel are scant, producer Roy Lee recently hinted that big bad, the Ender Dragon, will make its fiery debut in the sequel. "A lot of people said, 'Yeah, just make that movie, but make sure the Ender Dragon is in it.' I think that's what a lot of the requests have been." With casting now fully underway, it won't be long till the first details are revealed.

New action movie The Bluff, starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas and The Boys' Karl Urban, has been called "charmingly old-fashioned" and "a rollicking good time" in its first reviews. Though not everyone is willing to let its "paint-by-numbers script" slide...

Released on Prime Video yesterday (February 25), the film debuted to a decent 68% score on Rotten Tomatoes – and was even compared to Pirates of the Caribbean by one pleasantly surprised critic.

"There hasn't been a pirate movie that's captured that feeling of adventure, exploration, romance, and that desperate fight to navigate the world with those you choose by your side [since]," wrote Fangirlish's Lyra Hale. "Then walks in The Bluff, and it ticked off all my boxes while dipping into the brutality of the world of piracy and the lengths women had to go to survive." Now that's high praise around these high seas, eh?

Produced by the Russo Brothers and directed by Frank E. Flowers, it follows a 19th Century woman named Ercell (Chopra Jonas), who's dragged back into a world of booty-hunting and bloodshed when a group of vicious buccaneers reveal her secret swashbuckling past. Urban plays Captain Connor, a man with a deep-rooted grudge against Ercell, while Safia Oakley-Green, Ismael Cruz Cordova (The Rings of Power), Temuera Morrison (Aquaman) round out the cast.

"The Bluff feels charmingly old-fashioned," said Mark Reviews Movies, as Flickering Myth dubbed it "a worthy action vehicle for Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who will hopefully continue to thrive and excel in the genre."

The Guardian critic Owen Myers gave it 3 out of 5 stars, praising Chopra Jonas' performance and the flick's "intricately choreographed" set-pieces.

"The battles [are] epic," Original Cin's John Kirk echoed in their write-up. "What is really exciting is the planning that goes into Ercell's protection of her family as she sets up defences, traps, and cunning stratagems."

"Chopra Jonas and Urban are fantastic adversaries and give this movie the badass energy that crackles with every sword clash and flintlock fired," said JoBlo's Alex Maidy. "This movie takes the conceits and storyline we have seen in films before and gives them a nice edge that keeps you glued to the screen to the very end."

"A largely dull pirate action movie where, despite some decently choreographed and readily violent action, the paint-by-numbers script and bland characters leave it more as a series of familiar tropes than a proper film," wrote a lesser-impressed viewer from Film Feeder.

"It just feels like a movie that's a little too ambitious action-wise, and a lot too inattentive narrative-wise, so you notice all the worst bits more than you otherwise might," matched Ready Steady Cut's Jonathon Wilson.

A Minecraft Movie 2 is already on the way, and fans are hoping that it introduces a huge character from the games on the big screen. Of course, we're talking about the final boss, the Ender Dragon, who was notably absent from the first movie.

In a recent interview with Collider, producer Roy Lee revealed that he has received numerous requests to include the character in the upcoming sequel, saying: "A lot of people said, 'Yeah, just make that movie, but make sure the Ender Dragon is in it.' I think that's what a lot of the requests have been."

Okay, that might not be the confirmation we were hoping for, but it is the biggest hint yet that the Ender Dragon might be featured in the movie.

Asked about an update on the status of the sequel, Lee added: "The status of that is it's going forward. It starts production in April of this year in New Zealand."

Directed by Jared Hess, the first Minecraft movie was an absolute success in 2025, grossing just under $1 billion worldwide and starting the most chaotic and unexpected cinema trend of the year. After that, the sequel was quickly announced for 2027, as fans can't wait to cause mayhem once again.

Jason Momoa is expected to return for the new movie, with the actor telling The Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon last month: "The script is even better. It’s so good, I was laughing out loud. I haven’t laughed out loud in a very long time at a script. I was perplexed on the first script, this one I’m laughing out loud."

Although no official cast announcements have been made just yet, we are also expecting to see the return of Jack Black as Steve, alongside Danielle Brooks as Dawn, Emma Myers as Natalie, and Sebastian Hansen as Henry.

Danny DeVito has officially said goodbye to the Jumanji franchise.

The actor has wrapped filming on Jumanji 3, which is also set to be the final movie in the series, and his co-star Dwayne Johnson has said goodbye in a touching social media post.

"That’s an official Jumanji wrap on the one and the only, Danny DeVito," Johnson wrote on Instagram, alongside some photos of himself with DeVito and their co-star Kevin Hart (check it out below). "To work with you, and learn from you has been an honor ~ and to call you my friend, will always be a privilege. Thank you, brother for your anchoring heart and JOY throughout our Jumanji franchise. Let’s tell more stories together. Ps, please keep smilin’ and please keep exfoliating the top of your head."

The original movie about the supernatural board game, starring Robin Williams and Kirsten Dunst, was released back in 1995. A spin-off titled Zathura: A Space Adventure, about another mysterious board game, followed in 2002, before the franchise was rebooted with 2017's Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and 2019's Jumanji: The Next Level.

In the 21st Century, the board game is now a video game, and, alongside Johnson and Hart, the key players include Karen Gillan, Jack Black, and Nick Jonas. DeVito joined the franchise for The Next Level – he plays Eddie Gilpin, the grandfather of the Rock's character Spencer.

A first look at the threequel teased a twist for the series, with the video game characters finding their way into the real world this time around, but not much else is known about the movie at this point.

Masters of the Universe director Travis Knight says he always intended to make live-action Skeletor look the way he does in the He-Man cartoon – no ifs, ands, or buts.

"I said, 'Fuck that shit. Skeletor has a skull face,'" Knight told Empire when asked about previous iterations of the supervillain's look. "That's just the way it is. It's a living, talking, emoting skull, and that's that."

In the 1987 Masters of the Universe movie, Skeletor is quite simply Frank Langella wearing a skull mask and a hood to conceal his real-life human body. The Skeletor design in the 2026 movie, however, is a straight-up skeleton with piercing red eyes that looks to be a combination of practical FX and CGI. We're a little disappointed that he's not donning his purple cloak and armor combo from the original 1983 cartoon, but we'll just have to deal.

The film stars Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam aka He-Man, who is living a normal life on Earth when he's called back to his home planet of Eternia to defeat the likes of Skeletor (Jared Leto). The cast includes Mendes as Teela, Johannes Haukur Johannesson as Fisto, Morena Baccarin as the Sorceress of Castle Grayskull, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Kristen Wiig as Roboto, Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms, and Sasheer Zamata as Suzie. (No, there is no She-Ra in this one, and no, I will not stop mentioning how sad this makes me.)

We might be getting a less family-friendly Mummy movie this year, thanks to director Lee Cronin, but once that’s all wrapped up, the next take on the moaning, groaning monster will be revisiting the much-loved franchise led by Brendan Fraser. It was confirmed in November last year that both Fraser and Rachel Weisz would be reuniting on screen as Rick and Evelyn O’Connell under the director collective Radio Silence, who had already given us a good batch of jump scares by way of Scream 6, Abigail, and Ready or Not.

But while two names are already on the guest list to unearth some forgotten tombs they should really stay away from, there are question marks over the likes of Evie’s brother, Jonathan Carnahan, played by John Hannah, and the stupidly charismatic Oded Fehr’s leader of the Medjai, Ardeth Bay. Thankfully, ComicBookMovie managed to get a few words with Fehr, who expressed some optimism in fighting side by side with the O’Connells again.

"I've heard many things from a lot of people," revealed Fehr. "I have not been officially approached, but I've heard many things from many people. I'm assuming it's going to happen, and I'm probably as excited as you are about it.”

Fehr was a great addition to the franchise in the first two films as the mysterious leader of the ancient order dedicated to preventing Arnold Vosloo’s Imhotep from rising from the dead. In fact, he probably could’ve led a spin-off film all on his own. Instead, we got five Scorpion King movies. Ooft.

Looking forward, though, the former leader of the Medjai is as hopeful as fans are that the new film sticks the landing and honors a franchise that is clearly still close to his heart. "Big responsibility to try and make a movie that the fans will love as much as the first two, which are the only ones that are important, really. Yeah, I don't know. The Mummy made me into a working actor, and I love the film," explained Fehr. "I mean, I love the franchise. I think it still holds up wonderfully, and I love the people that I got to work with. So it'd be incredible to get to do that again.”

Let’s hope that someone opens the book and Fehr gets called to action. That’s the phone book, of course, not the Book of the Dead. For everything else you need to know about The Mummy 4 head on over here.

Prince Adam goes from desk job to defeating evil in the surprisingly Superman-esque trailer for Amazon MGM Studios' live-action Masters of the Universe movie.

Following yesterday's teaser, which was cryptically self-aware and offered He-Man fans first looks at Battle Cat, Man-At-Arms, Eternia, and more, the full promo sees Nicolas Galitzine's buff blonde hero explain that he was sent to Earth by his mother Queen Marlena (Charlotte Riley) when he was just a kid. Since then, he's lived a relatively humdrum life -- though he's never stopped dreaming of swapping his suit for a fur-trimmed loincloth and engaging in epic, out-of-this-world battles.

"All that stuff that only exists in legends and bedtime stories; talking tigers, spaceships, and magic swords that make a man as mighty as a god," he begins in a voiceover. "Where I come from, that stuff is real." The rest of the trailer sees Adam hunt down the Power Sword in his quest to return home to Eternia, which proves to be a risky move... since Jared Leto's red-eyed villain Skeletor has been waiting for him. Elsewhere in the clip, we also get glimpses of Skeletor's lair Snake Mountain (!), Adam's work bestie Suzie (Sasheer Zamata), Alison Brie's Evil-Lyn, Beast Man, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson's Fisto, Evil Warriors member Spikor, and more. While we've not seen her in character yet, Deadpool's Morena Baccarin is set to play Sorceress of Castle Grayskull, with Kristen Wiig, Camila Mendes, and Idris Elba rounding out the supporting cast.

The first trailer for Masters of the Universe is here – and it's surprisingly... self-aware.

The promo, which you can watch above, opens on a retro-looking television set. An unseen narrator then says, "Not long ago, when times were simpler... This was a healthy breakfast," over the top of someone pouring milk on some brightly-colored cereal. "This was a powerful workout," he adds, with the TV now showing a bunch of people doing an aerobics class. "And this was a hero," he claims, just as the animated He-Man appears on screen.

"Perhaps now more than ever, we need that kind of hero again," the narrator concludes, as the camera switches to Nicholas Galitzine's titular Adam seemingly watching the cartoon in what looks like a neon-lit arcade in the '80s. It's giving us serious Barbie vibes and at this point, we're wondering whether we should be gearing up for something super meta. Given that Mattel made toys for both franchises, it's certainly a possibility...

Fortunately, we won't have to wait too long for clarity, since we're getting another (presumably, longer) trailer tomorrow (January 22).

For now, though, the existing clip manages to cram a whole lot of first looks into 12 seconds that fans of the source material will enjoy, including He-Man's home planet Eternia, Battle Cat, Camila Mendes' Teela, Kristen Wiig's Roboto, and Idris Elba's Duncan/Man-At-Arms.

While we've not seen them in character yet, Jared Leto will appear in the movie as He-Man's arch-enemy Skeletor, while Alison Brie is set to play Skeletor's right-hand woman Evil-Lyn. Bumblebee's Travis Knight directs from a script by Chris Butler, Aaron Nee, Adam Nee, and Dave Callaham.

Ke Huy Quan is no stranger to an '80s classic. Along with his iconic role as Short Round in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Quan also has a starring part in The Goonies.

Quan played Data in the film, an enduring adventure movie whose cast also includes Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Jeff Cohen, Corey Feldman, Kerri Green, and Martha Plimpton, and which follows a group of kids on a treasure hunt guided by an ancient map.

2025 marks 40 years since The Goonies hit theaters, and, four decades later, Quan tells us why he thinks the film is still so loved.

"It's an incredible story, and it was just this perfect casting of this group of actors that came together. We got along so well. And I think it is to the credit of our director, Richard Donner, who kind of let us be who we were at that time," Quan says when GamesRadar+ meets with him in London to talk about his role in Zootropolis 2 (Zootopia 2 in the US).

"We were just a bunch of kids, and he allowed us to have that and carry [it] over onto the screen. It's a great movie. When we were making it, we didn't expect much," he continues. "We didn't know it was going to become this classic that it is today. 40 years later, people are still talking about it. Everywhere I go, that's all people want to know is, one, 'What was it like to make the movie?' Second is, 'Would there ever be a sequel?' It's one of the most asked questions. And, yeah, we're working on it. So, hopefully we'll get to make one soon."

A sequel to The Goonies was revealed to be in the works earlier this year, with Steven Spielberg and original writer Chris Columbus on board to produce. Potsy Poncirol will write the sequel.

While it's unclear when The Goonies sequel will hit our screens, you can see (or rather, hear) Quan as Gary De'Snake in Zootropolis 2 when it arrives in cinemas this November 28 (November 26 in the US).

Now that Lee Cronin's The Mummy has hit screens, it's time to focus on the other ancient Egyptian creature feature on the way, The Mummy 4. Decades after Brendan Fraser hung his artifact bag up, the star will reprise his role as fearless treasure hunter Rick O'Connell alongside Rachel Weisz as his right-hand woman.

The new installment is full steam ahead, led by Scream 5's directing duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. The pair, alongside Fraser, recently celebrated the sequel by braving Revenge of the Mummy: The Ride at Universal Studios. The sequel is set to begin filming in summer 2026, ready for its spring 2028 release date.

Below, we've dived deep into everything there is to know about the new film, with our best guess at what the plot could cover, who else might return from the cast, and more. The Mummy 4 release date

The Mummy 4 will release in theatres on May 19, 2028.

Universal Studios locked in the date in February 2025 after holding it for an event film. This may seem a little far away, but the sequel is in the very early stages and has not yet begun filming or finding its wider cast and crew.

The Mummy 4 plot speculation

No official plot details have been released just yet, but early reports suggest which past movie the sequel will follow. The first Indiana Jones-esque movie hit screens in 1999, following Brendan Fraser's treasure hunter Rick O'Connell and Rachel Weisz's librarian Evelyn Carnahan as they travel back to the 1920s and awaken a supernatural high priest.

The second film revisits the now-married couple in 1933, where their son Alex accidentally triggers a curse, releasing the Mummy. However, the third movie replaced Rachel Weisz with Maria Bello. According to The Hollywood Reporter, because Weisz was not part of the sequel, the new Mummy will disregard the events of the third movie and act as a sequel to the second film.

Due to there being almost two decades between the sequel and the upcoming movie, we expect a rather big time jump between the two movies. However, it is not clear how The Mummy will be resurrected this time around. However, whilst speaking to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, Fraser said, "what we're going to do is saddle back up, go back to the locations," adding, "we're going to give the audience what they have been bothering all of us for the last 20-whatever years."

Horror duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are set to direct the upcoming movie, and are both keeping pretty tight-lipped on the sequel, but in an interview with Empire, Gillett said, "Having stepped into Scream, our radar for jumping into another franchise is that it has to feel special." adding, "The script really does that. It is very beautiful and sweeping and scary and fun."

The Mummy 4 cast

Original Mummy stars Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are set to return in The Mummy 4, reprising their roles as adventurer Rick O'Connell and his wife Evelyn Carnahan.

As for the wider cast, John Hannah is set to return as Evie's brother, Jonathan Carnahan. It is not clear at this point if Rick and Evie's son Alex will return, or who will play him. Alex was played by Freddie Boath in The Mummy Returns and by Luke Ford in The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

Oded Fehr, who plays the leader of the Medjai, Ardeth Bay, isn't sure if he'll be back, however. "I've heard many things from a lot of people," he shared. "I have not been officially approached, but I've heard many things from many people. I'm assuming it's going to happen, and I'm probably as excited as you are about it."

As of now, The Mummy 4's confirmed cast list is as follows:

Is there a Mummy 4 trailer yet?

The upcoming Mummy sequel is in the very early stages of development and has not yet started filming, so there is no trailer on the horizon just yet.

The Jumanji 3 first look has arrived, and it's already revealing some plot details: mainly, that the video game characters have made it to the real world.

In the picture, which you can see below, the main cast are reunited. That's Dwayne Johnson's Dr. Xander 'Smolder' Bravestone, Karen Gillan's Ruby Roundhouse, Kevin Hart's Franklin 'Mouse' Finbar, and Jack Black's Professor Sheldon 'Shelly' Oberon.

But, you'll notice that the four of them aren't in the video game world, but are instead in our own, real world. In fact, they're in Boston at Christmas time, as revealed by a banner behind them.

In the previous two films, the characters got dragged into the video game, so it seems the third film is flipping the script. Just how that plays out remains to be seen.

What we do know, though, is that this will be the final film in the franchise. "What a massive, fun, heartfelt adventure," Johnson said of the third film on Instagram. "Feels emotionally appropriate for our beloved JUMANJI franchise to end on this beautiful grace note of our final film."

It will also pay homage to the original movie, which starred Robin Williams and was released in 1995. "The significance of the dice in the last picture is a little Easter egg that my character, Dr. Smolder Bravestone, wears on a necklace in our final film," said Johnson. "It’s the dice from the original 1995 JUMANJI and a way of paying homage, love, and respect to the great Robin Williams."

Avatar star Stephen Lang may not have read Avatar 5 for almost 10 years, but he promises he'll be "completely up to speed" by the time filming comes around in late 2026.

While chatting to him about his upcoming action sequel Sisu 2, GamesRadar+ asked whether there were any scenes in future Avatar movies that he's particularly itching to shoot. Lang, who plays antagonist Colonel Miles Quaritch, candidly replied: "I haven't read Avatar 5 in seven or eight or nine years now, I have a folk memory of it. I know [Avatar 4] a bit better. But when you work on these things, you can get confused about what you know about; what happens and when it happens.

"On the day, as we prepare to get deeply back into Avatar 4 and 5, I'll be completely up to speed – and there's not one scene that I don't look forward to playing. I always love going to work in this, in that role. You know, I love putting on that performance capture suit, and getting down to it."

While Avatar 4 was partly filmed back-to-back with Avatar: The Way of Water and soon-to-be-released Avatar: Fire and Ash, the majority is set to be filmed in 2026. With that, we can assume that they'll make a start on 5 then, too.

Lang's morally questionable military man Quaritch was introduced way back in James Cameron's 2009 original. In the first film, he's a high-ranking officer in the Resources Development Administration squadron based on Pandora – and is determined to wipe out the Na'vi in order to mine their land. In the second, he's pitted once again against Sam Worthington's lead Jake Sully and tasked with finding his human son, Spider, after having his consciousness transferred to a Na'vi body.

"The journey that Quaritch is on has always given rise to the question, "Is he redeemable?" It's wonderful to play [all that]. Jim has thrown a lot of curve balls at this character, you know?" adds Lang. "Being brought back to life, as it were, in the form of his bitter enemy? It's just a mind blowing thing to happen and to play. So, yeah, it's been a great challenge and a lot of fun, and I really look forward to what comes next."

Before we see him in Avatar 4 and 5, Lang will return as Quaritch in Avatar: Fire and Ash, the sci-fi franchise's third installment, on December 19. For more, check out our guide to the most exciting upcoming movies heading our way.

The Goonies are coming back to the big screen with a long-awaited sequel announced earlier this year, and lead star Ke Huy Quan has offered a very positive update to let fans know that things are moving forward. Although he hasn't seen a final script yet, Quan revealed that everyone involved is really excited.

"I first heard about it when I saw Steven Spielberg at an event and he was so excited," he told ComicBook.com. "We try to do it, so let's manifest it. I know we've been trying for the last 40 years, but I feel quite good about it. This time, Chris Columbus and Spielberg are developing it, we have an incredible writer. I mean, I read he turned in the second draft and they're really happy about it."

The actor, who played Richard 'Data' Wang in the original movie, added: "I would love to revisit that character and go on another adventure with my Goonies brothers and sisters."

Other original stars that could reprise their roles for the sequel include Josh Brolin, Sean Astin, Corey Feldman and Martha Plimpton, who back in the 80s played a bunch of teens and kids embarking on a treasure hunt to find pirate One-Eyed Willy's long-lost treasure. None of them are currently cast in The Goonies 2, as the project is still in the writing stage.

In September, writer Potsy Ponciroli – taking over from co-writers Chris Columbus and Steven Spielberg, who now will serve as producers – revealed the script is pretty much done, saying: "I have turned in a first draft, which was very well received, and I'm on a second draft and I'm about 95% done with that, so we're moving in the right direction."

In an interview with GamesRadar+, Columbus said he and Spielberg have "been toying around" with "Goonies ideas for 30-plus years," and it seems it's now finally coming to fruition.

Get ready to return to the jungle as Jumanji 3 has officially entered production, but the bad news is that it will be the final movie in the franchise as we know it.

The official Jumanji Twitter account shared the news, writing, "New level unlocked. Jumanji Movie is officially in production." The post, which you can see below, also contains a picture of cast members Jack Black, Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan reunited on a panel in Los Angeles.

Johnson later confirmed the news on Instagram, adding that the movie will soon be filmed in Los Angeles. However, the star then broke the news that Jumanji 3, or 4 if you count the original 1995 film as part of the new franchise, will be the final Jumanji movie. " What a massive, fun, heartfelt adventure," said Johnson, "Feels emotionally appropriate for our beloved JUMANJI franchise to end on this beautiful grace note of our final film."

But that's not all, as Johnson's post also seems to tease that the upcoming movie will call back to the '90s film, which starred Robin Williams. The last two pictures show a close-up of the original Jumanji movie's poster and a necklace with a dice pendant.

"The significance of the dice in the last picture is a little Easter egg that my character, Dr. Smolder Bravestone, wears on a necklace in our final film," said Johnson. "It’s the dice from the original 1995 JUMANJI and a way of paying homage, love, and respect to the great Robin Williams."

With the inclusion of the dice, we think this means that the upcoming movie will include the Jumanji board game just like the original movie, or it will link back to the '90s film in order to bring the franchise full circle. Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Jumanji: Next Level both see players pulled into the world of Jumanji via a video game, but we would love to see the board game return to the franchise somehow.

Jumanji 3 is directed by Jake Kasdan, and written by Kasdan, Jeff Pinkner, and Scott Rosenberg. Alongside Johnson, Black, Hart, and Gillan, it looks like stars Alex Wolff, Ser'Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, and Morgan Turner are also returning.

After decades of turmoil, we can all finally rest easy as Brendan Frasier and Rachel Weisz are in talks to reprise their roles as the co-leads of a new Mummy sequel that revives the beloved adventure/horror franchise (per Deadline).

The Mummy and The Mummy Returns are some of the best adventure movies of the late '90s and early '00s. The third film in the series, which recast Rachel Weisz's Evelyn, marked the end of the franchise, aside from some straight-to-video spin-offs starring the Mummy 2's villainous Scorpion King.

That said, it seems as though the new film will be something of a 'requel,' picking up after the events of The Mummy Returns and ignoring the third movie, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

The new film will be directed by filmmaking collective Radio Silence, who are behind 2022's Scream (the fifth movie in the series) and its 2023 sequel Scream 6, as well as vampire comedy Abigail, and human-hunting thriller Ready or Not.

The hiring of Radio Silence could indicate that the new Mummy film will lean into the horror side of the franchise's legacy, which goes all the way back to its origins in 1932's classic Universal Monster movie The Mummy, starring legendary horror movie actor Boris Karloff in the title role.

Universal attempted a full reboot of The Mummy in 2017 with Tom Cruise in the lead role and Sophia Boutella as the eponymous undead villain as part of its canceled 'Dark Universe' shared universe concept. The movie failed to land with critics or audiences, with Tom Cruise and his influence on the movie overshadowing its more successful aspects.

The Mummy star Brendan Frasier also criticized the 2017 remake back in 2022, while also saying he'd be open to reprising his role as Rick O'Connell in another film.

Cameras have started to roll on A Minecraft Movie 2 over in New Zealand, with stars Jack Back, Jason Momoa, and more back in character, ready to take on the blocktastic world again. Although we're still a little while away from seeing the movie hit screens in summer 2027, the sequel is keeping us fed with behind-the-scenes looks and a brand spanking new title: A Minecraft Movie Squared.

Can you believe it has been over one year since A Minecraft Movie was unleashed on the world? Based on the hit game by Mojang, the film followed four real-world humans who were led to a pixelated dimension by Black's eccentric miner, Steve. The group managed to defeat the Piglins and find their way back home, but it sounds like they will get pulled right back in again. Luckily for Steve and co, they have an extra pair of hands this time, as the sequel adds another in-game character, Alex.

Below, we have built the necessary terrain and have mined everything we know so far about A Minecraft Movie 2, including its release date, cast list, and our biggest plot theories. A Minecraft Movie 2 release date

A Minecraft Movie Squared will release on July 23, 2027. The news was announced on October 9, 2025, by A Minecraft Movie via Twitter captioned, "Building terrain." Jared Hess is set to return to direct the sequel.

That's just over two years and three months after the first movie hit screens, which is pretty impressive considering the star power behind the franchise. Not to mention the amount of VFX work the first movie faced, which will undoubtedly be a factor going into the sequel, too.

Filming began at the end of April 2026 across multiple locations in New Zealand, which is where the first movie was also shot. Jack Black marked the start of production by sharing a commissioned painting by Kristoffer Zetterstrand, the same artist who created 40 paintings for the Minecraft video game. The movie was officially titled A Minecraft Movie Squared during Minecraft Live in May 2026.

A Minecraft Movie 2 plot predictions

Details surrounding A Minecraft Movie 2 have been pretty thin on the ground. Even Jack Black is keeping tight-lipped. However, Jason Momoa teased the script on The Tonight Show, "The script is even better. It’s so good, I’m laughing out loud. I haven’t laughed out loud in a very long time at a script."

Now, as promising as that sounds, that dosent really give us any insight as to what the sequel will be about. But don't worry, we have our theories. The list of items you can source, things you can build, and the tools you can unlock in Minecraft is pretty much infinite, so anything is possible when it comes to the sequel. That being said, the first movie may have left some clues as to where the sequel could go.

After defeating Malgosha and the Piglins, Steve is reluctant to leave the Overworld, but is ultimately persuaded by Natalie, who asks him to imagine “what you could do with that magic in the real world." Back in the real world, the fabulous five are living their best lives, with Natalie running a self-defense class, Henry finding popularity in school, Garrett's business with his and Henry's own version of Minecraft, and Dawn hosting kids’ birthday parties with the help of Denis the wolf, and Steve singing his heart out in Garrett's store. It looks like the movie will start off in the real world and catch us up on what Steve and co. have been up to since we last saw them. In a leaked picture from set posted on Twitter, we can see a camper van with the words 'Steve's Lava Chicken' on the side. It looks like Steve has brought his tasty Overworld snack to the real world.

However, just like Jumanji, we predict that the five will either get pulled back into the Overworld, or the blocky land will spill out into the real world, and it will be up to Steve and co to save us. But, whatever happens, the group will have another in-world character to help them out, as Kirsten Dunst has been cast as Alex, the main female player character from the game. We got our first look at Dunst during Minecraft Live. As Jack Black and Jason Momoa took us behind the scenes of the sequel, we met Dunst, who was sporting Alex's signature red hair tied in a side plait.

When the second movie was announced, the official Minecraft Movie Twitter page also shared the sequel's first poster, which you can see below. The poster includes two axes placed tip to toe to create a number two in Roman numerals. However, the most interesting part is the color of the axes. Unlike the axes used in the first movie, which were blue due to being made out of diamonds, the axes in the poster glow purple. In Minecraft, a pickaxe glows purple when it is enchanted.

This suggests that the five will venture into the more magical side of Minecraft in movie number two, and get the chance to play with enchantment tables, enchanted books, and potions, and maybe even build different portals.

In terms of villains, the first movie's main antagonist was Piglin leader Malgosha, but if magic plays a big part in the next movie, the sequel could bring to life one of the game's most annoying baddies. Witches. These villains often hide in caves or in magical forests and throw dangerous potions at players, which can poison a player and eventually kill them if not protected by armor and other factors.

However, the purple pickaxes may suggest that the sequel will explore The End, a dark dimension crawling with monsters and consisting of islands made out of end stone. The End can be reached via a stronghold holding an End Portal. When players reach The End, they are faced with The Ender Dragon, which is essentially the 'final boss' of Minecraft.

Well, our wish to see a real-life Ender Dragon just may come true, as in an interview with Collider, producer Roy Lee says the team has heard fans' requests. Lee revealed: "A lot of people said, 'Yeah, just make that movie, but make sure the Ender Dragon is in it.' I think that's what a lot of the requests have been." If Steve and co were to fight and defeat the Dragon, they may be able to close the portal from the Minecraft World into the real world for good.

Speaking of villains, the sequel could dive into a creepy Minecraft urban legend. During a behind-the-scenes look at the sequel, Matt Berry teased that he is playing a different character this time around, who may or may not look like Steve. This has led fans to believe he will be Herobrine. The figure comes from an online Creepypasta, where players reported sightings of an evil version of Steve with solid white eyes, who would stalk players and destroy their builds. In terms of setting, the sequel has a lot of different Biomes to play around with. Back in March 2025 before A Minecraft Movie hit screens, director Jared Hess told Gamesradar+ that he'd "love" to make a sequel so he could explore the game even further. "I mean, look, the world's infinite," said Hess, "so many amazing mods and characters and biomes we haven't explored yet, so it'd be amazing." The Minecraft movie was set in the main grassy Biome.

In Minecraft Java Edition, there are 64 different biome types consisting of snowy, sandy, fiery, and Nether Biomes. The possibilities are endless.

A Minecraft Movie 2 cast

The core cast will return for A Minecraft Movie Squared. That's Jack Black as Steve, Jason Momoa as Garett the Garbage Man, Danielle Brooks as Dawn, Emma Myers as Natalie, and Sebastian Hansen as Henry. The group will be joined by another in-game character, Alex, played by Kirsten Dunst. In the game, Alex is presented as female with red hair and wears a green shirt, contrasting with Steve's bright blue get-up, so it looks like Dunst is going back to her redhead Spider-Man roots.

In terms of other characters, Jennifer Coolidge will return as Principal Marlene, alongside her Nitwit Villager, who turned out to be Matt Berry all along. However, during Minecraft Live, Berry showed up in a behind-the-scenes clip dressed as though he was appearing in the movie rather than just voicing the CGI blocky character. Many fans suspect that he will play Herobrine, Steve's evil twin of sorts. However, Warner Bros has yet to confirm the star's new character.

Is there an A Minecraft Movie 2 trailer?

As filming on A Minecraft Movie 2 has only just started, there is no trailer or teaser in sight as of writing. However, the first (and rather cursed) A Minecraft Movie teaser appeared online on September 4, 2024, followed by the first A Minecraft Movie trailer on November 19. That is six months and three-and-a-half months before the film hit screens, respectively.

If the sequel follows a similar timeline, we can expect the first Minecraft Movie 2 teaser to hit the internet towards the end of January 2027, followed by the first trailer in April 2027. However, as A Minecraft Movie faced quite a lot of backlash over the first teaser's unfinished look, we don't think Warner Bros. will want to rush and make that mistake again.

Jerry Bruckheimer has claimed that Margot Robbie's Pirates of the Caribbean movie is still in development, despite the Barbie actor previously saying it had been scrapped by Disney.

When asked for an update on the franchise's planned spin-offs recently, the producer told The Wrap: "We're working on a script. It's always on the page; if we don't have it on the page, it's not gonna get on the screen. We had two scripts at one point, and then one kinda dropped out, and then we kinda went on with the other one."

With that, the publication suggested Robbie's "more female-led" take was the title that had fallen through, to which Bruckheimer candidly replied: "Well, she's still involved."

While his answer is cryptic, it's a far cry from the last time Robbie addressed the movie in an interview with Vanity Fair. "We had an idea and we were developing it for a while, ages ago, to have more of a female-led – not totally female-led, but just a different kind of story – which we thought would’ve been really cool, but I guess they don’t want to do it," she said way back in November 2022.

Since then, Orlando Bloom, who played blacksmith-turned-seafarer Will Turner in the series, expressed interest in reuniting with the likes of Keira Knightley and Johnny Depp for a sixth installment.

"There's been talk. I can't say anything at the moment, because I really don't know. They're definitely... I think they're trying to work out what it would all look like," he revealed on This Morning. "I, personally, think it would be great to get the band back together. That would be great. But there are always different ideas, so we'll see where it lands."

Bloom has appeared in four of the five Pirates of the Caribbean films so far, though his screen time has varied across them. He was one of the three main protagonists in The Curse of the Black Pearl, Dead Man's Chest, and At World's End, before cameoing in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales in 2017. He was absent completely from 2011's Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

After playing an MMA fighter in Benny Safdie's sports biopic The Smashing Machine, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is reteaming with the director in his upcoming movie Lizard Music, in which the star will take on the role of a 70-year-old man… who is best friends with a chicken.

"Benny pitched me this after. And after about 45 minutes, this pitch ended and I said, 'I am your Chicken Man,'" said Johnson at a career retrospective talk at the Toronto International Film Festival, via Variety. According to Johnson, the film will see him take on the role of a "whimsical, eccentric 70-something-year-old" known as Chicken Man.

The upcoming movie is based on the 1976 novel of the same name by author Daniel Pinkwater. The Lizard Music book follows a boy named Victor who befriends an eccentric older gentleman called Chicken Man, who understands the lizards' music. Together, the pair journey to the lizards’ floating island.

The new role explains Johnson's recent physical transformation. Fans were shocked to see the ex-wrestler had shed so much weight after seriously bulking up for Safdie's new movie The Smashing Machine, which stars Johnson as UFC fighter Mark Kerr. However, Johnson says he still has "a long ways to go" before he reaches peak Chicken Man physique.

"I’m so excited to get a chance to hopefully transform again like I was able to do in 'Smashing Machine,'" said Johnson at the event. "[It means] eating less chicken."

Although the upcoming project seems a little offbeat for Johnson, the star has recently shown interest in taking on more peculiar and gritty roles after feeling "pigeonholed" by Hollywood. "I have wanted this for a long time," said Johnson at the Venice Film Festival after admitting he had a "burning desire" to be more than a blockbuster star. "When you're in Hollywood, as we all know, it [becomes] about box office… It can push you into a corner and category."

Fresh off his Oscar-buzzed performance in Benny Safdie's The Smashing Machine, it looks like Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson will soon be heading back to the jungle, as the star confirms that Jumanji 3 is set to start filming very soon.

In an interview with Variety, the star revealed that Jumanji 3 will start shooting in November 2025, and it will see Johnson reunite with long-time collaborator Kevin Hart.

This comes not long after Johnson admitted that he feels "pigeon-holed" in Hollywood, and that going forward, he wants to focus more on grittier projects like his recent sports biopic rather than his usual blockbusters. However, it sounds as though he will remain loyal to his franchises, as Johnson added, "The films that I made in the past, I love them… I’ll go back to making them again.”

Johnson first took on the role of Dr. Xander 'Smolder' Bravestone in the 2017 movie Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungl‪e‬, followed by its sequel, Jumanji: The Next Level, which hit screens in 2019. The movies star Johnson, Hart, Karen Gillan, and Jack Black as four in-game characters controlled by outside players who get sucked into the game and into the avatars' bodies. However, the road to Jumanji 3, or Jumanji 4 if you count the Robin Williams-led original, has not been so smooth.

From delays to complications brought on by COVID-19, the upcoming Jumanji movie has seen its fair share of setbacks. After the pandemic, work on the sequel seemed to start up again in 2021. But then it was once again radio silence until 2024, when Sony confirmed that the movie was still happening and locked in a late 2026 release date.

It is not clear what kind of premise Jumanji 3 will follow, or who exactly will return alongside the core four. But, during Jumanji: The Next Level's post-credits scene, we saw a bunch of animals from the game escaping into the real world, so it looks like the team has their work cut out for them this time. Who knows, Dr. Smoulder, Mouse, Ruby Roundhouse, and Dr. Shelley may even appear in the real world.

After 40 years of waiting, it looks like we are one step closer to seeing The Goonies 2, as writer Potsy Ponciroli says things are happening with the long-awaited sequel to the ’80s classic, and the script is pretty much done.

"I have turned in a first draft, which was very well received, and I’m on a second draft and I’m about 95% done with that, so we’re moving in the right direction," said Ponciroli during the Winston Baker panel at the Venice Film Festival, via Deadline.

Ponciroli replaced the original Goonies scribe Chris Columbus on the sequel earlier this year. However, Columbus, as well as The Goonies co-writer Steven Spielberg, will serve as producers on The Goonies 2. In an interview with GamesRadar+, Columbus said he and Spielberg have "been toying around" with "Goonies ideas for 30-plus years," adding, "We just haven't cracked it yet… There has to be a reason for doing it."

As for the cast, the original movie stars Josh Brolin, Sean Astin, Corey Feldman, Martha Plimpton, and Ke Huy Quan as a bunch of teens and kids who embark on a treasure hunt to find pirate One-Eyed Willy's long-lost gold in order to save their homes from foreclosure. However, none of the original cast are on board for the sequel as of yet.

With Columbus stepping down as writer and none of the cast on board yet, there has been a lot of talk online about whether ot not we need a Goonies sequel. However, Ponciroli addressed some of the backlash in an earlier statement, promising that the film is in good hands.

"I know there's a lot of 'do we need a new Goonies,' but I'm the biggest fan of the original, it's my favourite movie of all time," said Ponciroli. "I'd never 'redo' The Goonies. To me, it was a story that never ended, so this is the movie I want to see as one of its biggest fans.

It's hard to imagine that someone has even been hired to write a sequel to The Goonies, let alone that a follow-up to the 40 adventure film is actually happening at all. Somehow, though, screenwriter Potsy Ponciroli is the brave soul going further than Chester Copperpot or even The Goonies themselves have gone before, finding a brand new treasure hunt to send them on, which, according to him, is coming along swimmingly.

While speaking to Deadline at the Venice Film Festival, Ponciroli confirmed just how far along in the writing process he is, and it should get fans of bully blinders and slick shoes excited. “I have turned in a first draft, which was very well received, and I’m on a second draft, and I’m about 95% done with that, so we’re moving in the right direction.”

Any direction is better than where the long-gestating project has been up until now. Talks of a sequel have been circulating for years, with the late legendary director, Richard Donner, mentioning on repeated occasions that he and producer Steven Spielberg had developed ideas for a new chapter, only for it never to come to fruition. Even a debate had arisen between original cast members of the film's chances, with some assuring fans that a return to the Goon Docks wasn't going to happen, while others were primed and ready to get back into the hijinks they first found themselves in back in 1984.

Now that the film is finally getting the green light, it will understandably raise questions that often accompany a new movie tasked with carrying on the legacy of such an iconic entry. “I know there’s a lot of ‘do we need a new Goonies’,” explained Ponciroli, “but I’m the biggest fan of the original, it’s my favourite movie of all time. I’d never ‘redo’ The Goonies. To me, it was a story that never ended, so this is the movie I want to see as one of its biggest fans.”

Currently, there are no confirmed plot details, nor any clarification on whether any of the original stars will return to head off on another adventure, most likely with their own children. For now, we'll just have to wait to see how things develop, or at least until the rock, the lighthouse, and an abandoned old restaurant all fit in a doubloon. Jumanji 3 is officially in the works, but this time we're not going back to the jungle. That's right, our favourite in-game avatars Professor Smoulder, Shelly, Mouse, and Ruby are coming out to the real world in the franchise's final installment, which is officially titled Jumanjii: Open World.

Stars Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Karen Gillian, and Kevin Hart are all set to return seven years after we last saw the group take on Jurgen the Brutal in Jumanji: The Next Level, and a few new faces have been added to the cast too, but more on that later. Filming on the adventure sequel has wrapped, and the first trailer has been shown behind closed doors at CinemaCon, where Johnson stated that the final Jumanji movie will honour Robin Williams, who starred in the 1995 original.

Jumanji 3 release date

Jumanji: Open World will release in theaters on December 25, 2026.

Originally scheduled for December 11, Sony has now shifted the release of Jumanji 3 back to Christmas Day (via The Wrap) in order to avoid facing down the one-two punch of 'Dunesday,' the Barbenheimer-esque nickname given to the simultaneous release of Dune: Part Three and Avengers: Doomsday on the same day.

The original date was confirmed in 2024 by Sony Pictures. The festive release is no new thing for the franchise, as Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Jumanji: The Next Level were both released during December. However, judging by set pictures, it looks like this sequel will lean more into the Christmas theme than previous installments.

The road to release has not been easy. Before the team could start working on the film, production on Jumanji 3 was stunted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Then, even though work did resume in 2021, it was radio silence until 2024 when Sony confirmed that the movie was still happening and locked in a release date.

In November 2025, the official Jumanji Twitter account confirmed that the film had entered production in Los Angeles. On November 19, 2025, Dwayne Johnson shared a video on Instagram documenting "day one of Jumanji." Filming then wrapped in April 2026. This means that it will take almost 12 months to film and finish Jumanji 3, compared to The Next Level, which took 11 months to complete from its filming start date to its premiere. Could this mean that Jumanji 3 is going to be even bigger than its predecessors?

Is there a Jumanji 3 trailer yet?

No, there is no teaser or trailer video released for Jumanji 3 yet. However, one may be on the way soon, as the first Jumanji: Open World teaser was shown behind closed doors at CinemaCon 2026.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the teaser shows Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan in the real world as game avatars Dr. Smoulder, Shelley, Mouse, and Ruby Roundhouse. The only issue is that, without gamers controlling them, they are stilted versions of the avatars we have grown to love. Alex Wolff’s character Spencer explains, "They’re stuck in demo mode," to which Black remarks, "I’m beginning to suspect we’re not in Jumanji."

Jumanji 3 cast

From first looks and the Jumanji panel in Los Angeles in November 2025, we know that the bulk of the main cast is returning. The post, which you can see below, shows stars Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart, and Jack Black. This means that the franchises’ core four in-game characters will return: Dr. Xander ‘Smolder’ Bravestone, Ruby Roundhouse, Franklin ‘Mouse’ Finbar, and Professor Sheldon ‘Shelly’ Oberon.

Thanks to the panel, we also know that the real-life versions of the characters are coming back too. That's Alex Wolff as Spencer Gilpin, Ser'Darius Blain as Anthony Johnson, Madison Iseman as Bethany Walker, and Morgan Turner as Martha Kaply.

We also know that Danny DeVito, who played Spencer’s grandfather Edward Gilpin in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, is returning and has already wrapped filming. As for in-game characters, Nick Jonas will make an appearance as in-game avatar Jefferson 'Seaplane' McDonough. Newcomers include The White Lotus star Brittany O’Grady in an undisclosed role, as per The Hollywood Reporter.

Jumanji 3 plot speculation

Sony has yet to release an official synopsis for Jumanji: Open World. However, thanks to reports from CinemaCon where the first teaser was shown behind closed doors, the sequel will follow the in-game avatars as they enter the real world. According to Variety, Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillian will all play different versions of their characters. Up until now, we have only known the avatars through the humans who inhabited them in the game. But in Open World, it seems as though Dr. Smoulder, Shelley, Mouse, and Ruby will adapt the personalities of their avatars.

Without Spencer controlling him, Dr. Bravestone is full of charisma, while Hart and Black’s characters were too busy being stuck in demo mode. Aside from the new avatars, the teaser also gave the CinemaCon audience a taste of action to come. The trailer showed a string of monsters and beasts from Jumanji breaking into the real world in New England, USA.

We already had an inkling that this was going to happen, as in the Jumanji: The Next Level post-credits scene, we see animals from the game escaping into the real world. Plus, first look images posted by Dwayne Johnson on Instagram show the four in-game characters out in the real world. In Boston, to be precise. "Something tells me we’re not in Jumanji anymore," said Johnson. Check out the images below.

The Jumanji franchise is based on Chris Van Allsburg's picture book of the same name, which follows a group of people sucked into an enchanted board game full of wild animals and thick jungles, and experience the game like real life. Before the modern franchise came about, the book was adapted into a 1995 film of the same name starring Robin Williams.

From the sounds of Open World, the new movie seems to be inspired by William's version, which also featured animals from the game breaking out into the real world. At Cinema Con (Entertainment Weekly), Johnson said the new movie honors Williams, adding "This whole franchise would not have started or happened or kicked off in this really beautiful way without one man, and that's Robin Williams."

This is not the first time Johnson has paid his respects to the late, great actor. Whilst confirming that Jumanji 3 had entered production, Dwayne Johnson posted a bunch of images on Instagram, including a close-up of the original Jumanji movie's poster and a necklace with a dice pendant.

"The significance of the dice in the last picture is a little Easter egg that my character, Dr. Smolder Bravestone, wears on a necklace in our final film," said Johnson. "It’s the dice from the original 1995 Jumanji." With the inclusion of the dice, we think the upcoming movie might finally have the characters enter the Jumanji board game rather than a video game, just like the original movie. But what about the 'Easter egg' mentioned by Johnson? Could Dr. Bravestone be connected to Williams' character Alan? We, for one, would love to see the franchise come full circle.

Is Jumanji 3 the final Jumanji movie?

Yes, unfortunately, Jumanji 3 will be the last movie in the franchise. Dwayne Johnson confirmed the news just as the film entered production. "What a massive, fun, heartfelt adventure," said the star, "Feels emotionally appropriate for our beloved Jumanji franchise to end on this beautiful grace note of our final film."

We did suspect this might be the case when Kevin Hart teased his and Dwayne Johnson’s 'final' movie together. "We’re talking about, of course, another Jumanji," said Hart to Variety. "[We're] just figuring out the thing that can act as what would or could be the final chapter of he and I. We feel we need something big to put our duo to an end and not just leave it undone like something that we can say, this is going to be our last and final movie." It looks like Jumanji 3 might be that last film for the duo.

As it reaches its 40th anniversary this year, The Goonies still stand as one of the best adventure movies ever. However, star Josh Brolin says he almost messed up his part in it, which just so happened to be his first big Hollywood role.

"I mean, I was nervous. I ruined the first half day of filming because I was laughing purely out of nervousness. I had no idea what I was doing," he tells GamesRadar+. "I know I fit that role nicely and what they saw, that jock kind of thing. But no."

Brolin was just 16 years old when he first started filming The Goonies, where he took on the role of Sean Astin’s character Mikey’s older brother, Brandon 'Brand' Walsh. Brand starts out as a typical jock figure, but soon lightens up and becomes involved in his little brother and his friends' quest to unearth the long-lost treasure hidden by a 17th-century pirate known as One-Eyed Willy.

The star had only appeared in TV shows up until that point, and it sounds like his inexperience affected his time on set. When asked what piece of advice he would give to himself if he could go back in time, the star says, "Relax."

However, despite the first day fumble, Brolin says he doesn't have any regrets when it comes to the family film. "We had a good time. I don't know if I would change anything. I think that first half day, maybe just to save them some money. But we had a really, really good time back then," adds the star. "That was, it still stands as one of my greatest experiences ever."

Over the past 40 years since then, Brolin has more than proven himself, starring in pictures such as No Country For Old Men, Sicario, True Grit, Dune, and multiple Marvel roles. However, as well as starring in Edgar Wright’s Stephen King adaptation The Running Man and Netflix sequel Knives Out 3, this year, Brolin throws himself into the horror genre with Barbarian director Zach Cregger’s new movie Weapons.

Although plot details surrounding the mysterious horror project are being kept tightly under wraps, we know that Brolin plays an anguished father looking for his son who suspiciously went missing at 2:17am one night, along with the rest of the kids in the same class. Weapons also stars Julia Garner, Alden Ehrenreich, Amy Madigan, Ben Wong, and Austin Abrams.

Filming hasn't even wrapped on Christopher Nolan's latest movie yet, but tickets for The Odyssey are already being listed online.

AMC and Cinemark's websites are already displaying listings for IMAX 70mm showings of the movie, which is a retelling of the Ancient Greek myth filmed entirely in IMAX (the first blockbuster to do so). And, according to World of Reel, you'll be able to buy tickets from this July 17, exactly one year before the movie hits theaters.

Fans on Reddit don't seem too impressed by this, though. "Buying tickets to a movie a year in advance is wild. I think I'll just wander up to the ticket counter at my local IMAX a little before the show time, like I do with every movie I see there," said one user.

"This is getting ridiculous. I just want to go see a damn movie without having to plan a year in advance," wrote another.

Nolan's follow-up to 2023's Oppenheimer will tell the story of Odysseus, the King of Ithaca, and his decade-long voyage home from the Trojan War after he angers the gods and they place a number of obstacles in his way.

Matt Damon, who also starred in Oppenheimer, will play Odysseus, alongside a stacked ensemble cast that includes Tom Holland, Lupita Nyong'o, Robert Pattinson, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Jon Bernthal, Mia Goth, and Charlize Theron.

Oppenheimer was a massive hit for the director and won seven Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director, as well as making $975 million at the box office and becoming the third-highest-grossing film of 2023.

Jurassic World Rebirth's David Koepp "didn't have a single idea" how to continue the previous movie's exploration of humans and dinosaurs co-existing in the real world... so he scrapped it entirely using "a great speech" from Michael Crichton's original Jurassic Park novel. 

The screenwriter returns to the franchise with the series' most recent outing, having penned the script's original 1993 film and its sequel The Lost World. In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he was asked why it was so important for him to make the giant reptilian baddies... well, baddies again, to which he candidly replied: "They took that idea all the way. Dinosaurs were nesting on the Chrysler Building and renting apartments downtown. I didn't have a single idea about where to go with that. 

"But I wanted to respect what occurred in the first six movies, because I hate when you watch and they gaslight you and say, 'No, that never happened.' Or, 'That was a timeline,'" he added. "I hate that shit. So I said, 'No, that all happened, but I want to make them special again. How do we do that?' I wanted us to be back in their environment instead of them in ours."

While Jurassic World Dominion – which, at 29%, has the lowest Rotten Tomatoes score across the franchise – had scenes set across Malta, Italy, and California, Jurassic World Rebirth sees Scarlett Johansson's mercenary-for-hire Zora Bennett escort Jonathan Bailey's paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis to the mysterious, remote Ile Saint-Hubert, alongside pharmaceutical exec Martin Krebs (Rupert Friend). Their mission? To bring back samples from dinosaurs with DNA believed to have life-saving benefits. A task that, as you might expect, proves easier said than done.

"In re-reading the books, I found the perfect justification," said Koepp, explaining how he shifted things back to an island setting. "There's a great speech which I just popped into the script, which was that we think these things are going to live here now, but we forget that this is a different planet. Our landscape is completely different except this narrow band where the environment is somewhat similar to what it used to be [where dinosaurs can survive]. So let's make dinosaurs exotic and special so that we have to go seek them out instead of, you know, fighting with them over a cab."

The first reactions for Jurassic World Rebirth have arrived, and audience reaction seems to be split directly down the middle.

The new installment sees Zora (Scarlett Johansson), paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis (Bailey), and ship captain Duncan Kincaid (Mahershala Ali) embark on a dangerous journey to the remote island outpost that was the site of the original Jurassic Park lab post.

What they encounter, however, are dinosaurs that were too dangerous for the original park – and have been alone on the island all these years and are seriously mutated as a result. Hype is pretty big for the film as David Koepp, who adapted the original Jurassic Park for the big screen, returned to write the script. Rogue One helmer Gareth Edwards serves as director.

Though we're a couple of weeks away from the film's release, first reactions are here, and it seems to be a love-hate situation.

"#JurassicWorldRebirth is a winner! Gareth Edwards knew just how to bring a Jurassic story to screen. I adore the practical movie magic of the original film. Over the years, the franchise has embraced more CGI," Perri Nemiroff of Collider wrote. "Rebirth is indeed loaded with effects-heavy set pieces, but those digital elements work especially well here because Edwards knew exactly how to ensure the film still had that reach-out-and-touch-it texture – particularly by choosing to film in real locations and shoot the movie on film."

"#JurassicWorldRebirth is everything you want," one fan said. "The plot can be silly, but who cares. The film is gorgeous, the dinosaurs are AWESOME, and Jonathan Bailey may be one of my new favorite actors. My heart was racing, and there was a moment where I was so happy, I wanted to cheer.

"Hugely impressed by #JurassicWorldRebirth, a film that understands dinosaurs are both incredibly majestic and utterly terrifying. The ensemble is fun, and Dolores is the GOAT (iykyk)," another wrote.

However, other fans of the franchise weren't as impressed.

"Welp...#JurassicWorldRebirth is a movie," Variety editor Clayton Davis tweeted. "It has that going for it."

"#JurassicWorldRebirth had a solid concept – mutated dinosaurs on a new island. I was intrigued. But the movie just feels blah. It's a string of forgettable scenes that go nowhere," one fan wrote. "One river sequence stood out, but the rest blurs together. The characters are dull, there's zero chemistry, and I found myself rooting for the dinosaurs just to feel something."

"#JurassicWorldRebirth is a shallow and an unnecessary entry in the Jurassic Park universe," someone else said. "The action and the cool cinematic shots doesn’t help the film overcome the GLARING flaws within its characters and the bland narrative that will leave audiences feeling empty in the end."

It's been eight years since Orlando Bloom last played blacksmith-turned-sea captain Will Turner in Disney's swashbuckling series Pirates of the Caribbean. But there's a real chance he'll reprise in the future, the actor recently revealed -- and he wouldn't be the only one returning...

While promoting his new Prime Video movie Deep Cover, Bloom appeared on British talk show This Morning, where he was asked by hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley whether or not we'd ever see himself, Keira Knightley (who plays Will's partner Elizabeth Swann), and Johnny Depp (as Jack Sparrow) onscreen together again.

"There's been all kinds of things. Who knows? There's been talk. I can't say anything at the moment, because I really don't know. They're definitely... I think they're trying to work out what it would all look like. I, personally, think it would be great to get the band back together. That would be great. But there are always different ideas, so we'll see where it lands."

Bloom has appeared in four of the five Pirates of the Caribbean films so far, though his screentime has varied across them. He was one of the three main protagonists in The Curse of the Black Pearl, Dead Man's Chest, and At World's End, before he had a cameo role in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales in 2017. He was absent completely from 2011's Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

Last we heard, there was a sixth Pirates of the Caribbean movie and a female-led spin-off starring Margot Robbie in the works, though updates on the latter project have been scarce -- and the Barbie actor actually claimed back in 2022 that it had been scrapped.

"It's two different movies," producer Jerry Bruckheimer later told Entertainment Weekly in 2024. "We hope to get 'em both made, and I think Disney agrees they really want to make the Margot one, too."

The live-action remake of How to Train Your Dragon is hitting cinemas this week, but director Dean DeBlois is already thinking of the next chapter. DeBois, who also directed the original animated trilogy, recently shared some details about how a live-action sequel would look like, and one actress he would like to see returning – Cate Blanchett.

"Well, I'm wishful as well. It's still early days," DeBlois told ComicBook when asked about the possibility of seeing Blanchett returning to the franchise as Valka, who was first introduced in 2014's How to Train Your Dragon 2.

"I think she is probably waiting for a script, but I've been knocking on that door. I wrote the character of Valka for her, so I told her it'll always be hers to turn down first," the director continued.

In the animated movies, Valka is Hiccup's mother and Stoick's wife, who was taken by a dragon shortly after Hiccup was born and was thought dead. Two decades later, however, she accidentally crosses paths with her son and finally reunites with her husband.

If she returns, Blanchett would not be the only How to Train Your Dragon actor making the shift from animation to live action, as Gerard Butler also returned to the franchise to play Stoick, Hiccup's father, after voicing the character for a few years.

Talking about the yet-to-be-confirmed sequel, DeBois also shared some details about the future of Toothless, as we see the beloved dragon maturing on screen. "We knew we were going to go there. The idea is that Toothless is roughly Hiccup's age in dragon years, so he is a juvenile, an adolescent, as well, aging into adulthood," the director explained.

"That is going to alter his design in subtle ways, but mostly it's going to alter his mentality because he's a very sentient dragon. He has his own opinions about everything, and he'll also start to come into his own as a leader of his kind."

One of the most iconic props in action movie history is going on the auction block as memorabilia seller Propstore is about to sell the bullwhip wielded by Harrison Ford as the title character in 1989's beloved sequel Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

Propstore bills the whip, the only one of its kind known to be in a private collection, as the "ultimate adventure movie treasure," and it's hard to argue with that. Indiana Jones' whip may not have the flashiness of something like a sci-fi prop along the lines of a lightsaber, but for fans of the venerable adventure franchise, it's just as iconic.

If that's not enough, the auction is actually a lot, which also includes Indy's belt and whip holster, so if you're daring enough (and, frankly, wealthy enough) to win the auction, you can actually don the belt, wear the whip, and have some adventures of your own. Or, you know, display it as a set.

According to Propstore, the whip has been privately owned for decades, having originally been purchased from someone who worked on the production of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. It is believed to have been used in the filming of The Last Crusade's big motorcycle chase scene, and includes a production tag denoting that it was used in filming a sequence called the "Rideaway Scene."

The whip and its accompanying pieces will go up for auction this September, and, according to Propstore, are expected to wind up with a price tag somewhere between $250,000 to $500,000, so start saving your pennies now.

Legendary filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s upcoming movie The Odyssey is breaking records before it has even hit screens, as the director plans to use only IMAX cameras on set.

The Odyssey will be the first blockbuster in history to be exclusively shot on IMAX film cameras, per The Hollywood Reporter. This is quite the feat, as IMAX film cameras are notoriously hard to work with due to them being big and loud, unlike the much lighter digital IMAX cameras.

It's no secret that Nolan is a big fan of both IMAX cameras and the big-screen format. The director has opted to present many of his past films, including Interstellar and The Dark Knight films, on a larger screen. His 2023 film Oppenheimer was shot with a mix of IMAX 65mm cameras and large-format film photography. The Cillian Murphy starrer went on to win seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

If you’re not already familiar with IMAX, you may be wondering what an IMAX film camera actually is, and what it can do. IMAX’s 15/70 film cameras use frames 15 perforations wide and 70 mm in height, which creates a larger image, allowing a higher resolution (approximately 18K) and higher quality viewing experience. There are only eight 15/70 IMAX film cameras in existence, and they cannot be sold.

But it sounds as though Nolan will be using the newer version of the film cameras, after the director pushed the company to improve on the devices. IMAX’s new film cameras, which have been reserved for Nolan’s The Odyssey, are reportedly 30 percent quieter and much lighter. After The Odyssey wraps, IMAX will begin renting the cameras out to other directors.

Starring Matt Damon as Odysseus, Nolan’s The Odyssey is based on Homer's epic ancient Greek poem of the same name, following hero King Odysseus of Ithaca as he journeys home from Troy, following the decade-long Trojan War. But there is a lot of content for Nolan to pick through as Odysseus’ journey takes over 10 years, where he encounters several monsters, all while his family struggles at home.

Nolan’s upcoming epic also stars Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong'o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, John Leguizamo, Mia Goth, and more.

The title for the upcoming Super Mario Bros. Movie sequel has been accidentally leaked online by NBCUniversal, and it's the name of a popular ‘90s Nintendo game.

The title Super Mario World was included in the NBCUniversal 2025 Upfront Showcase live blog when listing the projects mentioned at the presentation. However, this seems to have been done by mistake as the title is now absent from the article. Luckily for us, Wario64 screenshotted the piece and posted it on Twitter. Check out the post below.

If the title is indeed Super Mario World, this is a direct callback to one of the best Mario games of the same name. The 2D action-adventure platform game is a direct sequel to Super Mario Bros. 3, where the brothers brought peace to the Mushroom World. In Super Mario World, the duo goes on vacation to Dinosaur Land with Princess Toadstool. But when they get there, the princess is captured by Bowser, forcing Mario and Luigi to navigate the curious land swarming with dinosaurs and enemies in order to save her.

This could mean that the sequel will introduce movie-goers to a brand new location, Dinosaur Land, just as the first film focuses on Mushroom Kingdom and Bowser’s castle. More importantly, Super Mario World is where the fan-favourite character Yoshi was first introduced, meaning we might finally get to see the green dinosaur make his on-screen appearance after he was teased in the 2023 movie's post-credits scene.

The first Super Mario Bros. Movie is an origin story, following two Italian-American plumbers, and brothers, named Mario and Luigi, who are transported to a strange world and become entangled in a battle between the Mushroom Kingdom and the Koopas. The voice cast includes Chris Pratt (Mario), Anya Taylor-Joy (Princess Peach), Charlie Day (Luigi), and Jack Black (Bowser).

It is not clear who will be returning for the sequel, but if the Super Mario World movie follows the same premise as the game, we can expect Pratt, Day, and Black to reprise their roles.

A Minecraft Movie's cultural domination shows no signs of slowing down, as Jack Black's solo has become the shortest song to ever enter the Billboard Hot 100.

'Steve's Lava Chicken' clocks in at just 34 seconds, with lyrics like "la-la-la-lava, ch-ch-ch-chicken."

The song debuted at number 78 on the Hot 100, on the chart dated May 3, 2025, according to Billboard. It has also reached number 10 on the Hot Rock Songs chart. Black and director Jared Hess co-wrote the song.

This isn't Black's first time on the chart, either – 'Peaches,' from The Super Mario Bros. Movie, charted at 58 back in 2023.

If you're a 'Lava Chicken' fan, you can soon sing along to your heart's content at special screenings meant for memeing and generally being rowdy. "Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures invite fans back to the theater to experience A Minecraft Movie together in a whole new way! You know the moments. You know the lines. You love the songs! Now it's time to get loose, laugh out loud and belt out those lyrics like a true diamond-tier fan," reads the announcement for these Block Party Edition screenings.

A Minecraft Movie screenings have been going so wild that even Jack Black has had to step in – but, very soon, you'll be able to meme to your heart's content at screenings of one of the best video game movies of recent years.

"Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures invite fans back to the theater to experience A Minecraft Movie together in a whole new way! You know the moments. You know the lines. You love the songs! Now it's time to get loose, laugh out loud and belt out those lyrics like a true diamond-tier fan," says the announcement for the Block Party Edition screenings.

These screenings will take place on May 2 in North America and select other international locations, and fans will be able to "embrace the film anew by singing – or meme-ing – along with their favorite moments from the movie."

"It's way too funny. It's been a total blast. I'm just laughing my brains out every time someone sends me a new video," director Jared Hess has said of the audience reaction. "Just the fact that people are making memories at the movies - that's what it's all about. That's why we do it. I never could have anticipated this level of passion and fun and craziness that's happening."

During the movie, and especially at the now-infamous "chicken jockey" scene, audiences are going absolutely wild, throwing popcorn and, in one theater, even bringing a live chicken with them. We'll just have to wait and see how rowdy the Block Party Edition screenings might get.

The Split Fiction movie adaptation has received a very positive update, as it's coming from some serious talent.

Wicked director Jon M. Chu will helm the movie, with a script from Deadpool and Wolverine writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, according to Variety. So far, the only cast member confirmed is Sydney Sweeney, star of Euphoria, Madame Web, and Anyone But You.

Story Kitchen and Chu's Electric Somewhere will produce, with Sweeney executive producing. Story Kitchen's other projects include the Sonic the Hedgehog films, the Tomb Raider franchise, and Hazelight Studios' It Takes Two adaptation happening at Amazon, so the movie is in good hands.

This news might come as a bit of a surprise, though, since Split Fiction was only released this March. A movie was reported to be happening just weeks after the game was released, though a package with the film's cast, writers, and director was still being prepared at the time.

Split Fiction is a co-op from Hazelight Studios with a pretty twisty story. You play as Mio and Zoe, two authors who write sci-fi and fantasy, respectively. They get stuck in their fictional worlds via a machine designed to steal their ideas, and, to escape, they must work together. At the moment, it hasn't been decided whether Sweeney will be playing Mio or Zoe.

The game is a phenomenon already, selling one million copies in two days and over two million copies in the first week. Our own Split Fiction review awards the game four and a half stars, with our verdict reading: "Split Fiction is another expertly crafted cooperative game from Hazelight that perfectly straddles two genres simultaneously and consistently introduces one good idea after another."

Weeks after it was first released, A Minecraft Movie is still causing chaos at screenings, and fans have got together to share their wildest experiences whilst watching what has become one of the best video game movies.

In a Reddit chain, a fan shared a new message that is apparently being shown before A Minecraft Movie, which reads, "During afternoon shows, we ask that there is no yelling or disruptive trends in the theater." This has sparked a discussion about the craziest things fans have witnessed whilst seeing the movie. "A police officer came in before the chicken jockey scene and stood in the corner," said one Reddit user, and another replied, "We had the owner of the damn theatre come in and beg us not to throw shit around."

The carnage began as soon as the movie hit screens, as it quickly became a trend amongst Minecraft fans to start screaming and throwing popcorn when certain Minecraft Movie Easter eggs, references, and cameos or meme-able phrases such as ‘Chicken Jockey’ appear. However, some fans have taken it a little too far with many screenings having to be shut down completely due to dangerous behavior, and one fan even brought in a live chicken to a screening.

However, it sounds like a lot of viewers are now over the popcorn throwing. "This trend is so annoying. I want to take my kids to the damn theatre but don’t want them exposed to idiots acting like this behavior is okay," said one user, and another echoed, "I feel bad for the movie theater employees."

It seems like the movie theaters are over it too, with some turning the movie off, denying refunds, and even calling the police. One cinema in the UK has banned children from attending evening screenings unless an adult is accompanying them. A Minecraft movie has also tried to limit the disruptive behaviour by including a new video before the movie plays, urging fans to be mindful of those around them. Star Jack Black even showed up to one screening to ask fans to settle down.

Despite the carnage, A Minecraft Movie is breaking box office records, landing the biggest opening weekend for a video game adaptation ever. Based on Mojang Studios’ Minecraft game, the movie follows four regular world humans (Jason Momoa, Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, Sebastian Hansen) as they get pulled into a strange cubic world where their only hope of survival falls down to eccentric in-game character Steve (Black).

The old-fashioned action-adventure is about to get a shot in the arm. Guy Ritchie's Fountain of Youth stars John Krasinski as treasure hunter Luke Purdue. Joining him on a search for the mythical Fountain, said to bestow eternal life on those that imbibe its waters, is his sister Charlotte, played by Natalie Portman. This joyful adventure comes scripted by James Vanderbilt, who previously wrote The Amazing Spider-Man. "It was different," says Ritchie, when he meets GamesRadar+ on the set at Warner Bros. Studios outside of London. "I thought we could give a new take on this genre."

With the director known for contemporary crime yarns like Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, RocknRolla and The Gentleman, this is certainly different. The closest he's come is the live-action remake of Disney animation Aladdin. "I honestly made up my mind I was going to try genres that I haven't tried before," he says. "So subsequently, we're quite busy because there's quite a lot of genres! The truth is it's more fun making movies than not. So if you can fill your dance card up and keep yourself challenged…it's more fun than not working."

From a rollicking opening chase that includes a huge fight on a moving train to a sequence that involves the exploration of the wreck of the Titanic's sister ship, Fountain of Youth one has action in spades. But at its heart is a sibling story. While Luke remains an adventurer, like his late father, Charlotte took a different path, raising a young son and working for a museum. Now Luke needs her to help with his search. "We have a little yin-yang thing of me trying to inject a little adventure into her life when she's a bit more bookish," says Krasinski.

Adventurous spirit

The film's costume designer, Loulou Bontemps, calls Purdue "an Indiana Jones-like" leading man, a comment that excites Krasinski. "Boy, I hope so," he exclaims. "I mean, that would be the goal. I can just retire after that. Just having Indiana Jones and me in the same line is pretty great to hear." The film's "adventurous spirit" is what enticed him to sign on. "I gotta be honest, I feel like this movie has such a nostalgia about it. It brings back so many movies that I grew up on, that truest sense of adventure…so the idea of Indiana Jones, definitely, I get where that comes from."

The likeable American star now joins the likes of Jason Statham, Henry Cavill and Jake Gyllenhaal as a Guy Ritchie leading man. "John has a unique charisma," says Ritchie, who feels there is a "direct correlation" between the "man you get on stage" and the actor when he is off-camera. "So he's very easy to work with, very talented, very experienced, because he's a rather good director too. He understands how difficult it is on this side of the camera. So I'm very fond of John."

Krasinski is certainly no stranger to action, whether it's directing/co-starring in horror-thriller A Quiet Place and its sequel or headlining the recent Jack Ryan TV series, based on Tom Clancey's CIA analyst. "For me, the exciting part is trying to do different things," he says. "That you never know where the frontier is. You just keep pushing it and trying new things. I've done some action stuff before, but not like this, and not with someone like Guy at the helm. And so you just say this is such an exciting way to try something new, and also such an exciting thing to be a part of."

On location

With Fountain of Youth shot in Bangkok, Vienna and Cairo, as well as London, the film has an old-school Hollywood feel. Even the soundstage work eschewed the now-common digital backdrops. "This is one of the only ones that has practical sets that I've ever been on," says Portman, surprisingly. "Usually when I've done Thor or Star Wars, it's green screen. And to actually have a physical environment to engage with is really extraordinary. It also means that sometimes you're cold, wet, or all of the above. But yeah, it's been really fun to get to have that, because you can lose yourself in the wonder of the world that we're filming in."

She and Krasinski are joined by an impressive support cast. Among them, Irish actor Domhnall Gleeson (as Owen Carver, the ailing tycoon who is bankrolling the search for Fountain, and Eiza González as Esme, a highly capable operative who has her own reasons to keep tabs on Luke and his crew. "The whole cast, I must say, are all rather lovely," says Ritchie. "If I say so myself, they've all had a nice time." Finding actors that not only have good on-screen chemistry, but also get on well when Ritchie yells 'cut' is crucial, it seems. "We're quite snotty about that," he says, "because otherwise, life's too short."

It's why you will find that actors frequently reunite with the British-born director. Take Mexican actress González. The Baby Driver star has swiftly become an integral cog in the Ritchie-verse. After featuring in 2024's World War Two-set The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, playing S.O.E. agent Marjorie Stewart, she's also just wrapped In The Grey, Ritchie's forthcoming hostage negotiator drama. "I'm just honored that Guy has thought of me for other stuff," she says, modestly. Not that she was expecting to shoot three movies in a row with him; she was on the set of Ministry… when she first had a casual conversation with Ritchie about Fountain of Youth.

"I remember sitting with Guy and being like, 'Who should you cast for this movie?' And you never get to do that with a director…and they're mentioning all these people, and I wasn't even part of the conversation. It wasn't like I was going to be part of a movie. I even thought of names for Esme! And I remember being on my way back to set with Loulou, our costume designer, and she's like, 'You'd be great for Esme.'" Clearly the thought struck Ritchie too. Before long, she got the call that he wanted her to play a character who is more than a match for Krasinski's Purdue (and, yes, the campaign for an Esme spin-off starts here).

Leading light

Certainly, the cast all seem to be looking to Ritchie for inspiration. Especially Krasinski, who has directed four features of his own, "I will say – please don't tell him – I'm stealing things from him all the time. I have more of a spy mentality on set, and I'm watching every single thing that he's using, and every toy that he has, but also how he uses it. He's using things like I've never seen. We've all seen drone shots, for instance, but I have never seen a drone fly through the national library in Vienna. It blew my mind! And the confidence that he has with the shot choices is also something that's really interesting."

Likewise Portman has also been taken by Ritchie's ability to turn on a dime, often expanding what's on the page and improvising on the day. "He kind of draws inspiration from the moment that is happening and it's magic in the bottle, I think, when that happens," she says. "Especially [with] movies like this…you want to chase that, because this movie is that. It's excitement and good energy and positivity, and that's what we're trying to convey. So it makes every scene special, versus just going through the motions."

Portman's not wrong, with Fountain of Youth offering audiences a globe-trotting yarn that prides itself on drawing from its exotic locations. Take the Vienna leg. "Normally you have background noise of ambulances going by or something," Portman says. "And there, there was just classical music playing. Streets were full of music." The production was even granted permission to shoot the climactic scene at the Pyramids, a rarity for a Hollywood movie. "You get quite casual about that," grins Ritchie, "to be in the Pyramids for a long period of time," grins Ritchie. To borrow from Indiana Jones, adventure has a name again.

Since it was released earlier this month, A Minecraft Movie has become simultaneously a box-office hit and movie theaters' biggest nightmare due to the unruly behavior of some fans. So much so that Jack Black, one of the film's stars, has stepped in before a screening to ask viewers to behave.

"For today's presentation of A Minecraft Movie, please no throwing popped corn, and also no Lapis Lazuli, and also absolutely no Chicken Jockey," he told the audience (via The Hollywood Handle on X).

Of course, the crowd went wild as the actor paraded around the room and high-fived some fans, but it's no coincidence that he started his visit addressing the chaos that has spread among cinemas everywhere.

Posting wild reactions to certain A Minecraft Movie Easter eggs, references, and cameos or meme-able phrases such as ‘Chicken Jockey’ or ‘I am Steve' has become a big social media trend, with viewers throwing popcorn, drinks, toilet paper, and other items to the screen. One fan even brought in an actual living chicken to a screening.

As a consequence of these disruptions, movie theaters have started to include a disclaimer before the screenings, saying: "Please remember, be kind, be respectful, and most of all remember that popcorn buckets are not to be used as Ender Pearls" (via X).

Not everyone is so bothered by this phenomenon. A Minecraft Movie director recently defended cinema screening chaos, saying "been a total blast".

"I'm just laughing my brains out every time someone sends me a new video. Just the fact that people are making memories at the movies – that's what it's all about. That's why we do it. I never could have anticipated this level of passion and fun and craziness that's happening", said Jared Hess in an interview with The New York Times.

Despite the chaos, or perhaps partly because of it, A Minecraft Movie has become one of the biggest releases of the year so far, landing the biggest opening weekend for a video game adaptation ever. The film follows four regular world humans (played by Jason Momoa, Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, Sebastian Hansen) as they get pulled into a strange cubic world where their only hope of survival falls down to eccentric in-game character Steve (Jack Black).
