Dark Souls 3 boss guide - how to defeat every top tier enemy

Vordt of the Boreal Valley

You’ve fought your way across the High Wall of Lothric, but before you can leave, you must face one last challenge: Vordt of the Boreal Valley.

Vordt is a guard dog-like creature that guards the path to the Undead Settlement. He may be blocking your way forward, but he’s totally beatable if you know how to position yourself during this fight – and that spot is right between his legs. His standard attacks consist of slamming his mace or swinging it in a semicircle. Both of these are very easy to avoid by rolling under him. From here, he’s completely open to attack.

Once you drop him to about 60% health, Vordt will gain some new attacks. The first is a charge, which can steamroll you if you’re not prepared. When he starts coming your way, roll to the side. He may also charge up for an ice breath attack – you do not want to get caught in this. Fortunately, all you have to do is run behind him to completely avoid. And from back there, you can attack while he’s blowing his cold air away from you.

Vordt moves quickly, but his attacks are quite basic. Be aware of your positioning, and he’ll go down with little trouble.
