Stephen Norrington, director of the original 1998 Blade movie, has confirmed to Mania.com that he is working with actor Stephen Dorff on a Blade spin-off project.
Dorff, who played villain Deacon Frost in the original Blade, had already told The Daily Moan… sorry, Mail that, "It will be a prequel to the Blade movies, Deacon's story. It's a new trilogy the director has created. It will cool. We hope to shoot the first film next year. Frost is a character I have never been able to shake."
Norrington confirms the story but cautions that the movie is "not exactly how the article describes, but close," adding that Dorff came up with the original idea, but the outline "has evolved into a very interesting story… The linkage to Blade is still big in the equation."
However, the article warns, Norrington is currently concentrating on a Crow reboot, so any Blade film would be a way off.
Previously, there have been three Blade movies and a TV series that lasted one season, on which Blade was bizarrely reduced to pretty much a guest character in his own show.
