Thursday TV Highlights

ITV4 The Champions “The Beginning” – first episode of the ’60s series about superpowered spies (which is due for a big screen remake).

SKY ONE Futurama “Parasites Lost”

BBC3 Doctor Who “Doomsday” – season two finale, with the Daleks and Cybermen having the mother of all bitch fights, and Rose is left behind. Sniff. Followed by Doctor Who confidential.

ITV2 The New Adventures of Superman “Stop The Press” – By this point in season four the writers seem more concerned with Lois and Clark’s marital problems than decent plots.

ITV4 Third Rock From The Sun “Hotel Dick”– Dick reveals his true form to Dr Albright. Expect lots of frantic arm waving.

LIVING The X-Files “Pusher” – Season three, and Mulder is convinced a man who claims to be able to commit perfect murders can control people’s minds.

SCI FI Mysterious Ways “Camp Sanopi” – Adrian Pasdar in pre-Heroes fantasy series about extraordinary happenings.

SKY TWO Stargate SG-1 “Double Jeopardy” – Season four’s penultimate episode with android doubles of the SG-1 team.

ITV4 Third Rock From The Sun “The Big Angry Virgin from Outer Space” – Harry goes to a video dating agency. And probably squints a lot.

ZONE HORROR Beastmaster “The Golden Phoenix” – Sort of Doctor Doolittle with better pecs.

BBC4 Comic Britannia “Boys and Girls” – history of British comics. (Repeated at 12.30am)

ITV4 Jericho “Crossroads” – More post-apocalyptic televisual mogodon.

LIVING Blood Ties “The Devil You Know” – Henry is convinced the female vampire who sired him is back on the scene and on a killing spree. Decent enough if derivative supernatural series. First UK airing. (Repeated at 1.00am)

SCI FI Angel “Not Fade Away” – the last ever episode, and it’s a cracker.

SKY TWO Stargate SG-1 “Exodus” – Season four finale (so loads of action): Apophis learns the location of the Tok’ra.

TROUBLE Charmed “Cheaper by the Coven”” – Season seven, the Charmed Ones become bickering teenagers.

VIRGIN 1 Star Trek: Deep Space Nine “The Search, Part 2” – Sisko discovers that the Federation is in negotiations with the Dominion and Odo learns about his origins. Directed by Jonathan (Riker) Frakes.

ZONE HORROR Tales from the Crypt “Undertaking Pallor” – an undertaker has murderous intent. Stars John (Lionel Luthor) Glover. ’90s anthology series.

SCI FI Dead Like Me “Forget Me Not” – Late season two episode of the much-missed black comedy/drama series about a bunch of bickering reapers.

TROUBLE Kyle XY “Diving In” – first UK airing.

BBC4 Comics Britannia “X-Rated: Anarchy in the UK” – the rise of more adult comics in the ’70s and ’80s.

BBC2 Heroes “Landslide” – penultimate episode of season one.

BBC2 Heroes “How to Stop an Exploding Man” – season one finale. And shouldn’t it be called “How to Stop a Man from Exploding”? Because “How to Stop an Exploding Man” begs the question, “Stop him from doing what? Watching Andromeda? Eating his own bogies? Leaving scorch marks on the carpet?”

SCI FI Star Trek “The Mark of Gideon” – Kirk finds himself on a deserted, apparently haunted Enterprise.

ITV4 Millennium “Blood Relatives” – Frank Black goes on the trail of a killer who preys on distressed relatives mourning the loss of loved ones. From the first season of the ultra-dour X-Files spin-off.

LIVING Charmed “The Importance of Being Phoebe” – Season five, with Cole being all devious and kidnapping Phoebe, then replacing her with an evil double.
