  • Matt Smith makes his first appearance in The Sarah Jane Adventures , back at 5.15pm on CBBC, Mark Gatiss concludes his A History Of Horror on BBC Four at 9pm, and V returns to Channel One at 10pm.
  • Top tip for Time Lord spotters: the TARDIS is going to land in Nottingham for Doctor Who Live .
  • Two of the biggest Blu-ray releases of the year make a bid for your hard-earned: the Back To The Future trilogy and the Alien Anthology . DVD-wise, you can also pick up Iron Man 2 , A Nightmare On Elm Street (the new one) and Smallville ’s ninth season.


  • The week's busiest night of SF TV viewing features Sanctuary on Watch at 9pm, Stargate Universe and Fringe on Sky1 (at 9pm and 10pm, respectively), The Vampire Diaries on ITV2 at 9pm and The Sarah Jane Adventures on 5.15pm. At least Smallville and Eureka have gone – we were running out of hours to get everything watched.

  • The fourth season of Chuck continues on Living at 10pm, there's a double bill on Syfy with Warehouse 13 at 9pm and Haven at 10pm and True Blood is on Channel 4 at 11.05pm.
  • Dan Dare: Pilot Of The Future: A Biography heads in the direction of bookshops.
  • It's Cardiff's turn to host Doctor Who Live .
  • It's Grimm Up North in Manchester.


  • New US show The Event continues on Channel 4 from 9pm, while Medium is on Living at the same time.
  • The MCM Expo is back at London’s Excel Centre.
  • Joss Whedon fans should head to Heathrow for Hallowhedon 2 .
  • Meanwhile, Supernatural fans should set sat-navs to Birmingham for Asylum 5 .
  • It’s Lord Of The Rings vs Star Wars , as new games Aragorn’s Quest and The Force Unleashed 2 hit the shops. Fable III is also out.


  • Star Wars: The Clone Wars is back on Sky Movies Premiere at 5.30pm, while Merlin is on BBC One at 7.55pm. It's getting later and later!
  • There's couple of signings at London’s Forbidden Planet : Thunderbirds voicer Shane Rimmer and author Karen Miller .


  • It’s Halloween, so beware of malevolent trick or treaters. On the plus side, you get an extra hour in bed because the clocks go back. Hurrah!
