His latest film (horror thriller The Happening) is only just opening across the world this weekend, but M Night Shyamalan is already looking ahead to the future.
He’s busy preparing to film an adaptation of Nickelodeon’s adventure cartoon Avatar: The Last Airbender, which sees a world riven by conflict between elemental forces.

I just loved the story," he told the site. "I loved the characters in the story and I felt like I could be me inside this larger canvas of this very long-form movie. I think it inherently had kind of family issues and serious larger topics -at the centre, genocide -all kinds of stuff. It has Buddhism, Hinduism, things I'm interested in.”
